Thinkpad R52 Recovery Disks -- HELP!

I recently bought a set of Thinkpad R52 Recovery Disks from "ThinkpadRestore.com," and they sent me an incomplete set!
I have all the disks except "Product Recovery CD #2." They won't answer my emails or their phone or the voice messages I've left them. So I'm dead in the water here. I'm going to have to dispute the purchase through Paypal.
I have tons of work to do, and I can't find any way to get this one CD.
Can anyone help me on this? I've looked on the web and don't see any other alternative suppliers. Could someone possibly help me? Does anyone have this one CD? Dropbox? Something?
Thanks for any help you can suggest.

Hello and welcome,
There's a fairly recent conversation about that vendor over here: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T61-and-prior-T-series-ThinkPad/Is-this-a-legitimate-company/td-p/880009
Doesn't look too good
I don't know if Lenovo support still has R52 media available.  Give them a call: 1-800-426-7378, 24 hr / 7 days
That's where I'd go first for legit recovery media in the US.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Recovery Disk Help

    Hi Everyone!
I'm having some trouble with my new T510 and was wondering if anyone could help me out. Firstly I'm not good at using computers, I'm a complete newbie. So I'm sorry for the vague descriptions.
Anyway, I was told by my friend to create the Lenovo Factory Recovery Disks and since I didn't know anything about laptops, I just did what she said and followed the instructions. I inserted a DVD and it popped out asking for another disk, so I ended up following what the laptop was telling me until the 5th disk. When I inserted the 5th, the DVD drive wouldn't response, I doubled click and nothing would turn it in. I clicked on Thinkvantage as it was telling me a driver was disabled. I didn't know what to do, so I restarted the laptop and the DVD drive turned back on, but by then I had cancelled the creating the lenovo factory recovery disk. My laptop then had a new driver called SYSTEM_DRV (S as well as the Lenovo Recovery (Q, but the (Q drive folder is empty. But when I restarted the laptop again, the (S disappeared but the (Q drive is still there but empty.
So I don't know what I should do now, should I try to make a new  set of recovery disk. I've heard other people say that you can only create the recovery disks once, but mine was interrupted, and I didn't finished completing the set. Would I still be able to recover my laptop to factory mode even without the disk.
    Thanks in advance for helping,
    Jo
BTW, my laptop is Windows7 64 bit.

You don't need a set of recovery disks as long as the recovery partition is not altered. Unfortunately, that can happen beyond user consent (e.g. system errors, viruses ...), so this is why making a set of recovery disks is highly recommended.
"Factory Recovery Disks" tool lets you know if a set of disks was previously (successfully) made by showing an appropriate message. If you don't get that message, you must try and create the set of disks again.
If you use DVD's, I think it should take 2 or 3 discs for the whole set: 1 for the boot disc (aka Rescue Media) and 1 or 2 for the factory recovery discs.
The recovery partition may show as empty in Win Explorer, but you should see that it's actual size is approx. 9GB.

You need a utility to reset the DMI string.
Call Toshiba's tech support at 800-457-7777 for that.

  • Recovery disk help needed

I recently replaced the disc drive on my Toshiba Satellite A105-S4284 laptop. I attempted to use the recovery discs that came with the laptop but only one disc ran & formatted the drive. Why didn't it ask for me to insert the 2nd disc? After reinstalling Windows XP, I find I cannot connect to the internet or even locate my wireless wifi.. Also, how many MB's should I set aside when formatting the drive for partitioning?

    Downloads are here
After reinstalling Windows XP, I find I cannot connect to the internet....
Start over with a clean install of Windows, because the order of installation matters.
Install the Intel chipset software followed by its display driver prior to any other driver. (Ignore all that nVidia and ATI stuff.) Install the Common Modules before any other Toshiba utility
I would create a single partition encompassing the entire drive.

  • Thinkpad edge 0578 possibly incomplete recovery disks

My gf said her lenovo is getting slow so I decided to get her an SSD and do a fresh install of win7 on it. She has 3 DVDs created which I believe believe from the lenovo Rescue and recovery software. They are
    DVD1) lenovo recovery boot.
    DVD2) lenovo recovery data1.
    DVD3) lenovo recovery data2.
I swapped in the SSD  and booted with the DVD labeled as "recovery boot" and i enter the lenovo recovery screen with 3 options
    1) quick restore (grayed out, cant be selected)
    2) full restore
    3) rescue files.
I chose full restore and select DVD/CD to locate backup , but it didn't find anything. I subsequently put in DVD2 and DVD3 , it didn't find any backup and prompted for a "final C" DVD. At this point I'm thinking GF didn't create her recovery disk properly. I popped in her original HDD and try to create another recovery disk but it says it can only be done once.
Do you think she's missing a final C disk?
Is there a way to move forward with installing win 7 on her SSD besides recovery DVD from lenovo?
Her laptop model is thinkpad edge 0578 , win 7 home edition. she bought it 2 years ago and it's probably out of warranty.

    Hi,
I"m surprised that your recovery media didn't install all the original drivers.  It should have AFAIK.
If your recovery media is old enough to pre-date SP1 _and_ youve installed an advanced format drive (most HDDs are these days) that could explain the windows update problem.
In that case, this KB should help: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-7-Knowledge-Base/Windows-Update-Fails-After-Installing-New-Hard-...
Once you get win update running try again to get ThinkVantage System Update installed.  That should get your drivers updated.

  • Thinkpad W530: Questions about creating recovery disk

    Hi there.
My machine is thinkpad W530. Recently I had several problems with it so, I decided to recovery the system to the factory setting. However, it didn't work when the OS restarted and entered to Rescue and Recvery screen. I did follow the lenovo official instruction but I got a eorror happened, it said "recovery failed" and the recovery process was stucked.
In addition, I tried to create a recovery disk and it failed, too. The lenovo said I could have only one recovery disk but I don't rember I had created a disk before. I checked the doucments in driver Q:\factoryrecovery, I also didn't find the "service done_ini".
Anyone knows pls help me and your assistance is really apprecated.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I’m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with OS on ThinkPad W530.
As you have done all the troubleshooting steps to perform system restore and you are not able to complete the process because of error.
This kind of issue occurs when you have done changes in the HDD partition before creating the recovery disc. Hence the system factory restore option will not work.
Since you have mentioned that the recovery media has not created for the machine, the only option is visiting the nearby authorized service center for the further assistance.
Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I’m sure they will be a great help.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,

  • My z60m needs your help! Please anyone? (Recovery disks needed)

I accidentally modified my MBR with a Ubuntu Karmic Koala install.  It changed the MBR and now the R&R partition will not restore to factory defaults.  Thinkpad told me the only solution is to run the recovery disks.
I did not make these, and now I am suffering.  Please, someone with their thinkpad winXP image on their z60m can you help?  It is possible to make recovery CDs inside the thinkpad tools on windows xp.  Could someone please make them and ship them to me?  (If you have some, can you loan them to me?)  I can pay you for your time and effort.  I have paypal and can pay for shipping, discs, time, etc... Please just name your price.
    Thank you so much,
    Brian

  • Help w/ Reinstalling Windows XP from Recovery Disk No. DVD Kit 361935-001

Re: HP Operating System DVD - Windows XP Pro. SP2 - HP or Compaq PC. No. DVD Kit 361935-001
Can I reinstall Windows XP on an HP computer using the COA received with the computer?
I read the following online and not sure what it means:
"It may not work with an OEM product key code. You would need to either sip stream SP3 or find a XP OEM version that does not come with service pack 2 installed... For some reason the OEM codes don't work with SP2 OEM disks. MSCE, MCP, A+, Network+, Security+, CEH, CCNA Just thought this might be a tid bit of information that might help those of you that need to restore windows and are using the most common OEM product key code located on the COA (Certificate of Authentication) on your computer...The only exception is if it specifically says service pack 2 on your COA."
    Thank for your help!

    Hi:
    Me either.
Your product key should work, but you shouldn't even need it when you use a recovery disk made for your PC.

hp pavilion dv6 6180 help me for this error when I am using my recovery disk
The destination drive is not connected

Hello Mohammadshamlou.  I understand that you're having some issues using your Recovery Disc.  It is giving you the error that the drive is not connected.  Is this correct?  How long have you had the notebook?
What issue originally led you to want to try a recovery?
The error seems to imply that it is not detecting the hard drive as this would be the most logical destination drive.  So, I feel the best thing to try first is verify that the hard drive is in proper working order.  Follow these steps and please post the result.

  • Please help!! Newbie here really need help. Numlock, divers, backup, recovery disk

    Hi everyone
I finally found where to post
I really wish someone could or would help me
I have a lenovo g550 for about 4-5 years And I was happy with it
few days go I cleaned installed windows Ii got a friend to help infests he put it on the d drive then c drive And c drive gainsaid he formatted my d drive chlorinating on therein was a real unswayable I kind of sorted it out. And I learnt a lot bout the oem partitioning deleted that though. Can someone tell me If I can boot or recover my previous vista from there.?
If not its fine but then I would like to know is can I change the oem partition with the image or recovery (whatever you call it) of the new windows  7 or how to go about creating a recovery disk.
After installing the new windows my PC seems to be fine but I don't know If I kept all the drivers And whatever goes with it. What are all the drivers I need And where do I find If I have them or not. I am not really worried about my data as I want to start fresh.
Another thing I noticed is my number keypad stopped working all of a sudden. When I press the numlock button it beeps and the light does go on and off. When its on it doesn't give me numbers e.g... If I press 5 it actually highlights where the cursor is.
And my mouse/trackpad is not the same as it was before. When I had vista on the right of the trackpad I could use it to scroll up and down and the bottom of the trackpad allowed me to scroll left to right. This function is no longer there. I have to use the arrows to go up and down.
Somebody please help as I do need my laptop for work purposes.
    THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!

hi any drivers you should need you should be able to get through support drivers&downloads link at top of this sites page bud you could use partition magic to clear all partitions and create new multible one if you wish the rest wait till after you put drivers in and see if probs still exist bud

  • Need Recovery Disks - Please Help!

    Hello,
I need the recovery disks for my "Lenovo 3000 N200" laptop as I can not create the disks myself. Problem is, when I tried to call Lenovo for the disks and pressed 2 for the 3000 support, "it didn't recognize my choice". I really need these disks as my whole laptop system is screwed up from installing Ubuntu as a partition. I have had a lot of help and it has led me to get these disks but even that is proving difficult.
Does anybody know of any other way to get these disks?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
I would recommend calling HP ( the telephone number can be found on the relevant link below ) and explain that the Recovery Media Creator is unable to create a viable set of Recovery Discs and request that they send you a free replacement set.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.

  • Looking for hp dv9810us vista 64 bit recovery disk. can anyone help please?

I have searched my product for the recovery disks and HP should actually have them. But on the support/software page for my laptop they did not have the link. I also have a dv2 which is much older and was able to order the recovery disks. I am in serious need of the HP Pavilion Dv9810us Vista Home Premium 64 bit recovery disks if anyone can help.
I dont understand something else either. The dv2 that I own also had upgrading to windows7 drivers and such on the product support page for my dv2. Odd that this dual core laptop that is much more advanced does not.

DV9810us came with Vista 32bit I believe.I have the smaller 14.1" version(dv2810us) and it came with 32bit. Recovery Media is listed under Vista 32bit drivers/software:
