Thinkpad T430s with Multi-touch screen?

I'm currently using a Thinkpad T410-i7 and am considering upgrading to the T430s.
However, I'm interested in the Multi-touch screen option that was available with the T400s/T410s.
Is anyone aware if this option is available in the T430s?

@ wesleyyin,
certainly strange. Some questions to help with the diagnostics;
Which TrackPoint cap you you have on your keyboard, soft domed, soft rim or classic domed (the hairy one)?
Can you try disabling the TrackPoint to see the problem goes away?
Anything else laid on top of the system or between screen and keyboard like a thin cloth or something?
Thanks

  • Problem with multi-touch screen when lid is closed

I have a T400s with the MT screen, running a clean installed Win 7 32-bit and all latest Lenovo drivers/BIOS.
I use external screen/keyboard/mouse at work so I am used to have the lid closed. I set in power management in the way that closing the lid does not do anything (e.g., sleep or hibernate).
The problem is: when the lid is fully closed and external mouse is used, the mouse cursor randomly moves and clicks. When random clicks happen, I can see the finger-tap animation near the cursor on the external screen, suggesting that the MT screen receives input even when the lid is closed! It might be heat from the palm rest/keyboard area causing fake taps.
Leaving the lid slightly open (like 15 degrees) solves this problem.
EDIT 1: another clue of the above problem is that while the lid is closed, Windows 7's tablet input panel shows up on the left edge, which typically appears after a tap or a tablet pen gets close to the screen. I also noticed that the random clicks take place near the right edge of the screen.
    Solved!

  • Connect to multi touch screen

    Dear,
I would like to connect flash 8 with multi touch screen which
is not like single touch screen (use same event with mouse). The
multi touch screen (iNexio) sent me the API (or SDK). There are 4
    files; CSharedStruct.h, inexio_multi.h, multiDLL.dll, multiDll.lib,
but I do not know how to connect flash 8 to multi touch screen.
Can anyone suggest me how to do it (step-by-step please)? If
flash 8 is not support, what version is support?
Thank you very much in advance.

DO you mean multi monitor support

  • Will firefox work with a touch screen? Does it support multi-touch?

I can't scroll with my finger. It only highlights the words.

The answer you received is not correct. The answer is YES. MAC's do work with all touch screen monitors once you downliad the free drivers.
I have a Mac Mini and a Mac book pro both of which are connect to the same Acer Touch Screen Monitor.  I am using it as  write this to you.All you need to do is download the free drivers from www.touch-base.com. The basic touch drivers are free. I also purchase the mac gesture drivers for $109 USD and they work great. You can even activate the on screen keyboard in the mac accessibility settings which allows you to have a touch screen keyboard.

  • How do I set up photoshop to work with a touch screen?

    Hi,
I just bought a 15.6" Asus Q500A touchscreen laptop with Windows 8. I downloaded photoshop and the 'touch app plug-ins' through the Adobe Application Manager for creative cloud. When I open a file in PS and select the brush(or any other) tool if I use the touch screen to drag it accross the canvas nothing happens. It still works with my mouse though.
How can I get this to work properly?

That does not surprise me. As I wrote Photoshop does not support Touch. It has supports for graphic tablets pens with wintab device drivers. It has support for mice and keyboards. No where do I see touch support documented in Photoshop manual. Here is a link to Photoshop manual search it for touch, http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/photoshop_reference.pdf  The closest thing  I found to touch support is the following:
    ========================================================================================== =======
    Use the Rotate View tool
You use the Rotate View tool to rotate the canvas non-destructively; it does not transform the image. Rotating the canvas can be useful for any
number of reasons, including facilitating easier painting or drawing. (OpenGL is required.)
You can also use rotate gestures on MacBook computers with multi-touch trackpads.
    1. In the toolbox, select the Rotate View tool . (If the tool isn’t visible, hold down the Hand tool.)
    2. Do any of the following:
Drag in the image. A compass will indicate north in the image, regardless of the current canvas angle.
In the options bar, enter degrees in the Rotation Angle field. Click or drag the circular Set Angle of Rotation control.
    3. To restore the canvas to the original angle, click Reset View.
For a video on the Rotate View tool and other workspace tips, see www.adobe.com/go/lrvid4001_ps. (Discussion of the Rotate View tool begins at the 5:10 mark.)
    Disable trackpad gestures (Mac OS)
If you have a MacBook computer with a multi-touch trackpad, you can use the trackpad to flick, rotate, or zoom images. This functionality can
greatly increase your efficiency, but you can disable it if inadvertent changes occur.
    1. Choose Photoshop > Preferences > Interface (Mac OS).
    2. In the General section, deselect Enable Gestures

My Wacom Intuos 5 Touch device driver has some touch support for some Photoshop features.  I do not try to finger paint I use the Wacom pen for that.  I also do not get the strange finger paint in Photoshop when I use my finger to move the mouse cursor with the Wacom Intuos 5 touch support. Starting outside an image window or inside one,
However if I add two finger support add tap to click I can finger paint and also use other tools.  However I'm not into finger paint so I do not configure Touch support that way for Photoshop.

  • Support for Multiple Multi-Touch Screens

    hello,
I have written some code that implements the multi-touch and it has been working fine with just one multi-touch screen.  However, someone using my program with 2 multi-touch screens hooked up is getting no input from the second device.  I did not
see anything documentation referring to more than one multi-touch device, although the existence of hSource in the TOUCHINPUT structure would imply multiple devices are supported.  After searching the forums, I found this post
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/tabletandtouch/thread/9c11871d-945c-4f7b-bdaa-a1b1452959b8/
in which someone stated that 2 multi-touch monitors should work fine, but not with simultaneous input.  Since the post is almost 2 years old, I am wondering if anything has changed, and whether this might be the problem my user is having.  Or is
there some way to tell if it is a driver issue?  I am not using the gesture library, just retrieving data with GetTouchInputInfo.  I'll appreciate if anybody can point me to documentation or mention their experiences with multiple devices.
    thank you.

thank you for your quick reply.  I have gotten a few more details and the problem is not the scenario you suspected.  They are using 1 window spanning 2 multi-touch monitors.  The problem does seem to be related to simultaneous input.  If
they have a finger down on the first monitor, my program does not receive any events from the second monitor.  If they are not pressing down on the first monitor, the input from the second monitor comes through.
Does Windows 7 support simultaneous input from 2 or more multi-touch monitors?  Is there something I have to do so that my program will work correctly?  Or are there driver specific issues, and if so, where can I get help for that?
    thank you.

  • Does the multi-touch screen make T400s 1/2 lb heavier?

The information on Lenovo's T400s webpage for both models (with and without the multi-touch screen) has no word on the extra weight of the multi-touch screen. It only says "at just 3.91 lbs ..."
However, PC Magazine http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2352820,00.asp says the multi-touch screen makes T400s 1/2 lb heavier. Is this true?

  • Ipod touch multi touch screen

Hi, I am currently having problems with the multi-touch screen. Whenever I tap on the application with my thumb, it does not respond. I tried to restore it and it is still like this. When I first bought it, the multi-touch screen worked perfectly fine. Do anyone know what's wrong with my ipod touch?

  • Multi-touch screen not recognized

I have a  brand new W510 configured with Windows Ultimate x64.
Within a few hours of running the machine, the touch screen stopped responding.  A reboot fixed that.  This happened several more times, and then rebooting stopped working.
Disabling then re-enabling the USB devices was the next step, and that worked for a while (in computer management/device manager/Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click and select "disable" then right-click and select "enable").  That stopped working last night.  I upped the response to uninstalling ALL of the usb devices under the "Universal Serial Bus controllers", rebooting, and letting Windows 7 x64 re-install them on boot.  Worked a few times, and now that isn't working.
I'm starting to think that there is a loose connection internally between the multi-touch device controller for the screen and the USB connector, but all of the other device drivers for the W510/Windows 7 x64 combination seem buggy enough that I can't rule out a really buggy driver.
The problem device seems to be listed as an "unknown device" enumerated under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" entry in device manager.  Here is a dump of some of the data about that device:

Early on I had a problem earlier with the NEC USB 3.0 Host Controller driver, but the Windows 7 troubleshooter fixed that.  Looking at its log, it looks like it also temporarily fixed the problem with the touch screen USB connection, and that was before I took the steps I outlined above.  Here is the output from that:
Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 3B34 has a driver problem Fixed

Has anybody else had this problem?  I really don't want to have paid a lot extra for a touch-screen that doesn't have drivers capable of making it work reliably.

I would have loved to try the Fn + F6 test, but the machine stopped getting past POST, so I can't even get to the BIOS.  The machine just gives the feel that the bios and a lot of the drivers were pushed to production too early, and still behave a bit like beta-phase software.  My plan is to return the W510 (which I really liked for the few moments it was working) and wait probably six months, then order it again.  By then I hope they will have the drivers and bios issues corrected.  There may also be hardware issues (they had trouble with long ship dates, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of the hardware was also not ready for mass production).  Either way, six months is plenty of time for Lenovo to get it all together.
You would think that this experience would sour me on Lenovo, but (absent some surprise in the refund process), I have to say that Lenovo handled this very well.  They apologized, acknowledged that in my position they might well feel the same way, took responsibility for the problem (including paying for return shipping and arranging UPS pickup) and promised a full refund.  They treated me like they view customers as assets, not annoyances.  Despite my bad experience with the hardware, my experience with the company was sufficiently positive that overall, my chances of order from them again are higher now than they were before this incident.
So bad copy of the hardware, or possibly unstable drivers and bios, plus good customer service and taking responsibility for their mistake = increased customer loyalty.  I'm glad Lenovo understands the formula.  Now I just hope my aging T61 holds out long enough for me to order a W510 *after* they work the bugs out.

  • Multi touch screen fix

Multi touch screen needs calibrated on iPhone 4S.  Anyone know how this is done.

No such thing as calibrating your display.  If restoring your phone as a NEW device (not using backup at all) doesn't resolve your issue, you'll need to take your phone in to Apple for evaluation.

  • My iPod Touch 3rd Gen is having problems with the touch screen being unresponsive, too responsive, freezing and constantly resizing. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix?

My iPod Touch (3rd Gen) is having problems with the touch screen being unresponsive, too responsive, freezing and constantly resizing. It varies between not responding when I tap the screen and acting as if I double-tap or tap and hold when I tap. Every so often it freezes for a minute or so and then comes back. The scren is constantly changing sizes too such that I often can't see most of the top status bar or other edges. This makes typing almost impossible, ruins most games and generally makes everything difficult, but otherwise the iPod is working correctly. Powering off, shutting down apps, letting it sit have not worked. This has happened once before months ago, but the issue resolved itself somehow. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix?

    Try this for the freezing

  • Will an iMac mini and mountain lion work with a touch screen monitor?

I was wondering if Mountain Lion would work with a touch screen monitor. I have a project in mind and this is a key part to the equation. If any one could help this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I do Not know for certain, but from my understanding, touch screen interfaces require that the OS version used to drive them be "designed" from the beginning to operate within that environment.  Obviously, at this point OS X has Not been designed to function that way (non of the Mac's using it work that way); although the mobile version, iOS 6, used in iPhones and iPads was indeed designed from scratch to operate that way.  So one day sometime down the road it's possible that OS X too will share this ability.  But not yet.
    Hope this helps

There is no way to downgrade to a different iOS. Apple does not support downgrading. See this link regarding speeding up the iPhone 4. http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/23/ios-7-slow-speed-it-up/
