Thinkpad T440s - trackpad not working after wake up

HI,
I have an annoying issue with my new T440s.
Trackpad stops working after I get it out of sleep. In fact, it works partially (two finger, edge scrolling is OK).
Even I re-install the driver, it won't work everytime.
Any suggestions? Is this a hardware issue?
thank you.

Just more information about the issue:
The trackpad is acting like being disabled in BIOS.
2 finger scroll , side scroll are fine. When my screen dims down, I touch the pad and screen is back up.
"enable touchpad" is grayed out in Mouse Properties under control panel.
All trackpad features are fine, only the mouse is not working.
Another thing I noticed: when I get to Windows login screen works fine (sometimes), but then, once I get authenticated and get Windows loaded, its stops working.
BTW, I'm using Windows 7
Driver reinstall, reload factory image, enabled/disabled in BIOS.. nothing helps.
Hopefuly a Lenovo stuff would read this and share some thoughts.
This is my second 440s replacement. First one did not wake up, after it gets to sleep.

    Here is my set up:
MBAir 2011 model (13", i7 4GB, Lion.. all up to date)
Desktop set up (same at work and home)
    - Thunderbolt display
    - Aluminum Bluetooth Keyboard
    - Aluminum Bluetooth Trackpad
    What I do:
    - Plug in the sleeping mbair into my display via thunderbolt and power cable
    - Wake up using external bluetooth trackpad
    - computer wakes up and external trackpad is functional (it always works)
    - 7/10 times the external keyboard will not connect to enter password to get into system
         - I have tried power button banging on it for a long time and does not work
         - open mbair and type password in and remove keyboard and repair and after several tried it will work
         - then I can close mbair and use external keyboard
         - painful to do this most days at home and work
    What have I tried
    - PRAM, SMC reset
    - remove all BT entries - trash blutooth properties files and freshly add them back
    - I have tried waking using keyboard as well and it does not work
Only think I have wanted to try and have not found out is, if keyboard can reset to factory.
Yes I also have the occasionaly wifi not connecting from sleep issue

    Hello
Have you noticed this problem on factory settings or only on your Windows 7 installation? Maybe its just a driver or software issue
Make also sure that latest BIOS version is installed. Look on the Toshiba website for an update:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Before you start the update, make sure that all programs are closed and you are logged in as Administrator.

Is there already a solution to this problem?

I am also having the same problem, although I'm on a PowerBook G4 12" 1.5Ghz.
I have an Apple Wireless keyboard and a Logitech BT mouse. The PowerBook is set up not to wake the computer using any BT device.
On two occasions, the computer woke up from sleep because it somehow lost the BT keyboard and mouse connection. Upon close inspection, that shouldn't have been possible, since that option was off.
I subsequently checked the BT preference pane under System Prefs. There, I discovered the following message, "Bluetooth Device Name: Name not available."
The first time, I restarted the computer and everything came back to normal. The second time it occurred, it I decided to log off and log back in. The log in process was fine, but my icons on beside Spotlight wouldn't load, System profile froze when getting more information on my BT module, and System Preferences also froze when trying to access the BT preferences. I ended up restarting the computer, and lo and behold, it worked again.
This has happened twice in the last two months, and I can't replicate the problem. I also can't figure out if this is a hardware or software problem.
I've read posts in the forums that describe BT going missing. This is not the case for me. BT is there, but for some reason BT is there but it's "Name not available."
Plaese let me know if you figure something out.
    Cheers,
    LP

  • Thinkpad T440 : Speakers not working only headphones

    Hi,
I am facing a problem with a Thinkpad T440, there is no sound! it is looking like the speakers are not working, but when i plug in the headphones the sound come through the headphones.
I upgraded the drivers, tried to reinstall the OS but unfortunately nothing helps.
Thus, i disassembled the laptop and tried to figure out where the problem is? i find out that the speakers are working! I tried other speakers and the same thing happening > no sound
I tried to plug/unplug the headphones jack connector many times but without success
the headphone jack is apparently good at first sight!
Did anyone face the same issue that i am having?
    Thanks in advance for help
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate your help I tried this but it didn't help me
But I fixed my problem, I was increasing/decreasing the volume from the tool bar it wasn't working! I but I could see the waves when I put some music playing and no sound nothing was coming.
So I tried to deactivate the volume from F1. After that I increased the volume from the toolbar and hopefully it was working! so i figure out that the F1 and the sound card wasn't really syncing.

  • Wireless trackpad not working after lion update on May 15, 2012

Right after OSX update on May 15, 2012, the pairing of my wireless trackpad to the desktop is no longer working.
First the bluetooth found my trackpad.  After clicking "continue", the box showed: "No trackpad found  The pariing attempt was unsuccessful, click "continue" to try again.
I've been trying for several times.  Still not working!!

Yes, I did replaced a new set of batteries!!  The computer keeps finding new wireless trackpad but once I click on continue, the box showed "the pairing was unsuccessful".  Again, this happend when I updated my OSX this morning.
I clicked on the bluetooth set up box.  It shows a green light (connected) but sometimes turned red (disconnected) for no reason.  Then I clicked on "Monitor connection RSSI.  As I played with the trackpad, there seemed to be signals being detected by the desktop.
Still, the mouse cursor cannot be moved by the wireless trackpad and the pairing is still unsuccessful.

  • ThinkPad X240 WWAN not working after upgrade to Windows 10

Hi, My 3G Card stoped working after upgrade to Win 10.I tried latest drivers from Lenovo but with no success. When I open Device Manager the Card is shown as properly installed but the driver manifactire is Microsfoft not Lenovo/Ericsson When I try to reinstall the driver the installation package poppup a message 'No action was taken as a system reboot is required'On the network connections the Mobile Netork is disabled:after trobleshooting on the connection I recieved and error: witch code 36. Is there a solution available ? regards, stuckoff

Which Operator and Country SIM card you are using ?Error Code 36 is regular deactivation. Do a Windows update , Restart then Shut Down System and start ( TYhis Power cycles the Device ) .  From your Screenshot it Looks like  the Cellular Data is not ON and Microsoft cellular service is in some mismatched state after upgrade. After restart press like in below screenshot  order 1 --> it turns cellular  on or off, 2---> It will take you to settings page 3--> Connect from here. Dont ask why Microsoft made connecting to WWAN device so complex

  • 2009 MBP TrackPad not working after 2 months of use..

Hey i bought it on late July, and i came back to Argentina (my residence country).I'm still in warranty, and i'm going back to US on July. The trackpad wont work when clicking in it, but does work when scrolling and tapping. The click only works sometimes when pressing hard, but i dont want to force it. Please help me if there's something in software,or tell me if Genius Bar in any Apple Store will help me replace/change the trackpad/laptop. Thank you very much.

Hi all, here in Malaysia I managed to talk to some technicians from the Apple Authorised Service Providers, and my trackpad was replaced. It was a bit difficult to demonstrate to them the "clicks" being lost but in the end they were able to help, my trackpad was replaced (as well as the display assembly - separate issue)... The problems I have been describing seemed to have gone away.
As such, I don't think it's clear cut with the trackpad issues whether it is a hardware or software thing. May be one or the other, or both.
Most importantly, get AppleCare. See the list of fixes I posted earlier.
If you are still facing issues, take it into the Apple Store Genius or an Apple Authorised Service Provider. As long as you can reproduce the issues even in say a clean install with 10.6.2, you should be able to hopefully get your Mac attended to.

  • Trackpad not working after Security Update 2010-005

I just bought a new MacBook last week (white plastic one). After doing the Software Update last night for the security update the track pad no longer works. I have tried restarting holding the cmd + option + p + r and still no track pad. Any ideas? Is there a way to back out the update?
I connected a mouse via USB and that works. I tried changing some of the options under system preferences for the trackpad but still no luck.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

First run the hardware test from the original installer discs:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509
If your data is backed up, just restore your backup.
If your data is not backed up, see this user tip:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1308817&tstart=0
Note, if that still doesn't work, your machine is likely still under the return/exchange period for most stores. You may want to just get an exchange if troubleshooting this issue takes too long.

  • Thinkpad X61 screen not working after driver install?

Recently I decided to change my operating system on my Thinkpad X61 so I completly refreshed the system and installed Windows 7 . I finished the install and it seemed to boot properly . As I began to install my drivers via the Lenovo website it asked for a RESART. After restarting the PC it wouldnt show a screen . I've tried to connect to another output and that didnt work.
As for the motherboard theory I honestly dont think that is the problem because I've seen several people on several forums discuss the same problem and they've found a solution but I cant seem to get anyone to discuss what that solution was.
I am a student so I am in need of my computer so if someone could please help me as soon as possible.
Moderator note; moved to correct board

Are you really talking about X61? If so, this is the wrong forum, but regardless, here is what to do. Pull the battery out. Unplug the machine, and press the power button several times, holding it for 5 seconds the last time. Put the battery back and plug it in. Turn it on and try to boot into the BIOS. If the screen stays black, either the screen or the motherboard has died. If you can plug it into an external monitor and try again, you can tell which one it is.

  • Trackpad not functioning after wake up?

I have the 11" MacBook Air, which I bought on Sunday, and installed all Software Updates for it. If I close the lid of the trackpad to put the computer to sleep, when I open it again, even only a few minutes later, the trackpad won't let me move the cursor. It is accepting clicks, but the cursor won't move. If I try really, really hard, I might be able to get it to move perhaps once, but that's it.
Nothing shows up on Google or in Apple Discussions, which make me think I'm the only one experiencing this. Haven't a clue how to address it. Any suggestions? (Other than that, it is awesome piece of kit).

Just received my 11" 1.4/4/64 and am having the same problem but even after a full shutdown. Seems to work fine for a few minutes then the cursor starts jumping around and making unwanted mouse clicks. Haven't applied the update yet as I do not have wifi access right now. Hope that fixes the problem though.

  • W530 WiFi not working after wake-up on Windows 8.1 64-bit

    Hi,
    I have W530 that I bought in 2013, I have Windows 8.1 installed.
When I wake up my computer from sleep, by operning the lid, the WiFi status shows as active, Internet as available -- I get the icon with 5 bars. Unfortunatley, when I try to access anything on the web or ping, I get information about unknown hosts or network not being reachable.
When I reboot, everything is okay. This is not a wi-fi problem, as I checked with my phone in the same time and the internet worked.
I noticed this happens when I move my laptop from one workplace to another or from work to home.
Do you have any ideas how could I debug this problem?

Correct everything works great, WiFi has never been faster and stable.  I can resume from a suspend and Windows 8.1 wakes up and connects to the internet immedately.
Bluetooth works great even with the device manager "!" shown from the older bluetooth.   I assumed the old bluetooth was part of the old mini pci card.  (I guess not)
It was suggested I remove the old bluetooth daughter card.   I'll need to figure out where that is exactly.   I might just leave it alone if it's too hard to get to but need to find out.
And no the special firmware while not easy to flash is totally safe.  They just stripped out the whitelist.   I'd be happy to  help anyone via teamview that needs help updating if they are not good with dos commands.

  • 17" MBP expresscard slot not working after wake-up

    MBP6,1 17" SL 10.6.8
I'm trying to use a bunch of expresscard devices (3 different types of SD card readers as well as two SSDs). All 5 devices are being recognized by OSX and work well as long as the MBP is awake. After closing the lid and open it after a while I always get an error message that the media has been removed improperly. The media (SD card or SSD) is then dismounted and needs to be checked for file system errors.
I have an open incident at German Apple Support (Hotline) for more that 1 year regarding this issue.
IMHO it seems that the expresscard slot doesn't wake up in time before the file system of the SD/SSD media is being accessed and OSX then treats the media as "improperly removed".
I wonder if anyone is suffering from the same issue?
What are my chances of being heard by Apple (at last)?
Could this issue be fixed in Lion or will Lion be identical to Snow Leo (under the hood)?
    Best,
    Jan

  • USB devices not working after wake from sleep on WinXP!!! HELP PLEASE!

I would like to put my windows xp to sleep whenever I leave the macbook pro for fear of overheating too much when I'm not using it.
The only problem is that I can't use any more USB devices if I plug them in once I wake it from sleep.
Like my mouse for example, I'm using a laser mouse with a usb plugin but it doesn't respond once I try to use it after WinXP on wake....
Experiencing a ton of wake problems lately...
Sleep is important for a MBP....I hope...

Welcome to Windows. Some devices do not like to be put to sleep in Windows.
There could be driver updates or hot fixes from MS to fix these.
A very proven method (though not for battery life) is to instruct the devices not to go to sleep when the system goes to sleep. You can do this via the device manager in the control panel.
Its not a gracious solution but it will do what you want it to do.

  • Macbook Pro Trackpad Not Working After Accident

I am a DJ and use my 2006 Macbook Pro to spin tunes. Recently, I did an outdoor gig where this big gush of wind knocked down one of speakers onto my head then fell onto the right side of my macbook pro.  =[
The rightside of the MBP (right above the CD drive) was a big valley in it now.  And for some odd reason my trackpad is stuck in permanent click down mode.
Even more odd.... I can click and double click right above the cd drive now?  What happened?  What can I do to remove the bend and fix the trackpad without it costing me a fortune?

You'll have to replace the case & whatever else is damaged. Go to an Apple store or AASP for an estimate. No, this will not be cheap.
