ThinkPad T510 type 4313 Windows 7 64 bit- sound in and out

Hi,
I bought my ThinkPad T510 in March 2011, had purchased a 1 year warranty, which has expired. My sound issue started almost 2 months ago. While watching DVD's, videos online at any site from yahoo, facebook, youtube, netflix, hulu etc my sound will stop completely while the video still runs. I have to press the volume buttons on the keyboard either up or down to turn the sound back on temporarily. The sound may come back on for 15 minutes or 5 seconds. Sometimes the volume buttons are not effective and then I have to click on the speaker button in the bottom right hand side of the screen to manually slide the volume button up or down.
It seems like such a small problem with an easy fix, but it is extremely frustrating when watching for example, a 30 second video and having to hover over the volume button.
 I've tried everything.
- Called Lenovo for support or direction for this quick fix that should be available (I can't be the only one with this issue, because I've never had this problem before). This issue isn't familiar, I can ship it in, and possibly pay up to $600 for them to locate and fix the issue.
- Updating the Conexant drivers
- Removing current driver and having it auto reinstall most up to date driver
- trying the diagnose & fix app on here which found nothing wrong
- Ran my Norton virus check
- removed all cookies and history
- Updated the conexant drivers from the Lenovo Support tab
- Used monthly Norton phone support 3 different times to diagnose and fix the issue
I am at a loss, please help.
I've been told it could be a hardware issue or the VOIP may need to be turned off. Norton cannot touch "the brain"over the phone

Hey Soundless,
Have you updated your BIOS to 1.52?
Try to find older audio driver versions and see if it works.
Also, check in Device Manager under your audio devices and make sure that you don't have any audio drivers conflicting with each other.

The 2012 Mac Mini's are listed on this article. Can I run windows 7 64-bit on it and/or the 32-bit?

I would buy nothing less than Windows 7 64-bit Pro.
32-bit only addresses 3.5 GB RAM ... 2012 Macminis can hold 16 GB.
64-bit Home addresses 16 GB RAM.
64-bit Pro addresses 192 GB RAM and han an XP mode.
This is all about having a good version of Windows for future use.  Yu can buy "Syem Builder" version of 64-bit Pro for $140.

Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates

  • Windows Vista 64-bit - ITunes died and won't reinstall

Last night my wife let her laptop battery run dry with itunes 10 open. We had just installed it a week or so ago, and had not updated from the online download version.
Anyhow, afterward, when I tried to open iTunes, MS would pop up with a message that the program failed to open properly. The laptop is Windows Vista 64-bit with the 64-bit software.
I uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, restarted, and tried again. Seemed to install correctly, but still got the crash when attempting to open.
Tried QuickTime, it also will no longer open. Uninstalled both, and no when I try to install iTunes, it goes through the gathering information process of the install, but then pops up with a window saying the installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured.
I downloaded Windows Install Utility v. 3, but it shows iTunes and QuickTime completely removed (at least no entries were in their to remove).
I also redownloaded the iTunes .exe, with the same results. Even tried the 32-bit, heh, which obviously didn't work, but worth a shot I suppose.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
I did a backup of the registry and went through and hard delete most of the iTunes entries, with no success, so I just restored the registry to the original since I wasnt 100% sure that I should be doing that.

Below are the two most recent problem reports for each of the three programs. No other programs had any recent problem reports. One interesting thing, from the time stamps, there are no crash reports from the last few iTunes install attempts which were giving the message from above and the latest attempt where it just flickers then doesn't do anything else.

  • Windows 7 64 bit Sound Card Problem

In January 2009, we had a 64 bit operating system problem http://forums.adobe.com/message/1015026#1015026. Our software, which was published using Version 6.5, was freezing on a customer’s computer on playing the first sound file, then if the sound file was by-passed, on displaying the first swf. The problem was eventually resolved by Mike Baker publishing our a6p file in Authorware 7, and this cured the fault. So we upgraded to Authorware 7.02 and since then no further problems ... until December 2010.
We launched our Italian Course late November and had a not dissimilar sort of problem reported by a customer. He's tried uninstalling & re-installing the software but the fault keeps re-occurring. The computer displays a "not responding" message. Debugging, we discovered that the message appears when trying to play the initial mp3 file (fixed bit rate) … the program does eventually continue but without playing the sound file. It then keeps hanging (there are thousands of sound files in our course), and none of the sound files play: text & pictures are displaying normally. Eventually the program freezes and has to be killed with ctrl+alt+delete.
The computer in question is a Dell Inspiron 580s, & the operating system Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I’m awaiting details of the sound card & confirmation that his drivers are up-to-date but I presume they will be (Windows 7 default is to keep drivers updated). I haven’t got the customer to carry out basic tests sound file tests yet, but he indicates no problems with Media Player or with iTunes.
Extras in our XTRAS folder include:-
    AWMP3.X32
    MIX32.X32
    MIXVIEW.X32
    NETFILE.X32
    SWADCMPR.X32
    VIEWSVC.X32
    INETURL.X32
    FLASHASSET/FLASHAST.X32
The database for our Italian course is now in ProgramData. (previous courses, database was in Program Files and run in XP compatible mode). We’re having problems with this location with Windows 7 64 bit … it is maintaining a copy in Virtual Store and updating the file there. No such problem with XP, Vista or Windows 7 32 bit. I see this as an unrelated problem. We got the customer to run the software in XP mode but the problem was not corrected.
We do have customers successfully running our software on Windows 7 64 bit operating system computers; we had a minor ODBC glitch reported recently from a 64 bit user.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Tom,
I concur with Steve that this is probably system-specific. A couple of things you may want to try:
    1. Be sure you're using the Xtras that came with Authorware 7.02 and not 6.5. For example, I believe mixview.x32 and viewsvc.x32 were updated in Authorware 7.
    2. Try making a little AW program with 4 or 5 buttons that each trigger an imported MP3 file, where each audio file has different output settings (e.g. mono vs stereo, 64kbps vs. 92 kbps, etc.). Package it up and send it to the Dell user to test it. You may stumble upon an audio output setting that works on that particular machine.

  • Windows 7 64-bits Crystal report and Azalea (barcode)

    Hello,
We use Crystal Report XI and Azalea (barcode) to print barcode from our Windows application for many years.
Now we want to use Windows 7 64-bits. The barcode printing desn't work. Azalea answers they don't have any 64 bits library.
What is the Crystal Report solution for printing barcode with Windows 7 64-bits ?
    Best regards.

If Azalea doesn't have a 64 bit library your only option is to stay 32 bit.
Crystal Reports is a 32 bit application so 64 bit is not an issue. Everything must be in 32 bit version to work with CR. And the only versions of CR supported on Windows 7 is CR XI R2 with Service Pack 6 and CR 2008 with Service Pack 2. No other versions will be test nor supported on Windows 7, best effort only.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Forms 6i on Windows 7 (32 Bit ): FRM-41211 and DBMS 1403

    Hi All,,
I want to find a solution for Forms 6i 6.0.8.25.2 on Windows 7 (32 Bit). We get the follwoing errors, if we want to use Reports-Server:
    FRM-41211 ...
DBMS Errorcode: 1403 and Errtext: ORA-01403
By the way, we can use Reports-Server on Windows 7 (64 Bit) after change NN60.dll und NNB60.dll with older version of DLLs.
Is there any experince regarding this matter?
    Thanks in advance,
    Moh

Although it's not certified I am running a forms 6i application on win7 64bit. So far nothing too hard (in fact as I installed developer suite it was easier to install then the 10g version...); the only thing I did was to apply the latest patchset for forms 6i (6.0.8.27.0); both forms and reports are running fine (I am using reports almost never though). This doesn't mean this should always work, but at least you have a little chance to get it working. As for your ORA-1403: did you try to debug your report?
    http://ora-1403.ora-code.com/
would indicate a problem in your code to me, not a OS problem...
You should look into upgrading though; here's a starter:

  • GT70 609us windows 7 64 bit (S bar and kb9x radio switch drivers)

Forgive me if this is not in the proper forum but my troubles seem to possibly cross in to multiple categories.
I recently purchased the GT70 609US "Dragon Edition"  but it unfortunately came pre-loaded with windows 8.  After much time and research and going through uefi hell I was able to load windows 7 64bit in bios legacy mode.  Everything is working great with the exception of a few small issues that are causing me extreme frustration despite lots of research on the issue.  There is a device that is unrecognized which shows as "ACPI\KBB9XRADIOBTN" which seems to be causing my device to blue screen.  My other problem is with the s-bar, which is possibly related to this device, as I am unable to turn on or off my webcam, or w-lan.  I have searched for drivers and tried multiple versions of the s-bar application but to no avail.  the recovery message is as follows

  • Window randomly maximizes both in focus and out of focus

I have a wide screen monitor with Thunderbird sized down to the lower right hand 1/4 of my screen. I use the left half as my working space virtually creating a multiple monitor feel. However, Thunderbird will randomly maximize itself. This happens when Thunderbird has the focus as well as when I'm working in another window. If I am working in another window, Thunderbird will maximize itself in the background behind whatever window has focus. It is not consistent as to when it will do it. Some days, it does it constantly within seconds of restoring to desired size and location. Other days, it may only do it once or twice.
I have included some info below. Let me know if you need more information to solve.

Tape tension has nothing to do with it.
This is a digital camera: if the tape lost tension you'd have no image at all, or a "mosaic" or "blocky" image because of missing chunks of data.
The focus isn't related to the tape at all. It's like moments of blurry eyesight aren't caused by lack of grip on the floor of your shoes!
It's the camera "hunting" for focus, as explained by AppleMan and Karsten. You may not see this on the camera's own built-in viewfinder monitor ..but that really is the cause.
The tape's tension, or contact with the tape-head, is not it. If there were poor contact you'd have sporadic loss of both sound and picture ..but not a change of focus.

  • Windows 7 64-bit black screen and blinking cursor for ages before boot

    Help!
I'm having the black screen with blinking cursor whenever I try and boot up Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit thru Bootcamp on my MacBook Pro. If i let it just sit there for maybe 2 or 3 minutes, it then goes to the Windows Boot Manager screen and allows me to click on Windows 7 and the it boots perfect. I've tried installing it twice, same thing. No problem booting OS X Snow Leo 10.6.3. Got the right NVidia drivers installed, makes no difference. Have Paragon NTFS installed so I can get thru to NTFS partition from OS X. I badly need Windows too and don't wanna slow it down by running it in Parallels or VMWare Fusion. A little help?
    Thanks a lot!

Solved! Here's what worked for me, it's located at:

  • Windows 7 64-bit: Switchable graphics and Ricoh card reader problem

    Hi guys,
Two problems with my laptop. I'm using a T400, previously installed with Windows Vista Business 32-bit.
Switchable graphics worked well until I formatted and installed Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (I got the RTM through MSDNAA). Now, Windows can only detect either the discrete graphics or integrated graphics at one time. When the BIOS was set to switchable graphics and enabling the detection of switchable graphics on Windows, it could only detect the Intel integrated graphics. When I try to switch to High Performance graphics through the Lenovo power manager, the screen flashes once, and the ATi graphics card appears on the device manager with the code 10 error (cannot start device). Also, compared to this image, my power manager window that opens with left-click does not have battery stretch and switchable graphics options. I have to right-click to switch my graphics.
After some tinkering, I managed to activate the graphics card through the BIOS by switching it to discrete graphics only and disabling switchable graphics detection by Windows. Now the device manager shows the ATi card only, the Intel integrated graphics is gone. I understand that it should show both display adapters in the device driver when the ATi card is active: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70495.html#g4
The second problem is with the Ricoh card reader. I managed to install the drivers properly, but the device shows up with a code 12 error (This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use) in the device manager. That error appears on 6 items in the device manager:
    Ricoh Memory Stick controller
    Ricoh SD/MMC Host controller
    Ricoh xD-Picture card controller
Ricoh 1394 OHCI Compliant host controller
Ricoh R/RL/5C476(II) or Compatible CardBus controller
SDA Standard Compliant SD host controller
Additionally, 6 error messages appear during every boot up, which I think is related to these 6 devices:
    ERROR
Resource Conflict - PCI in slot 07
    Bus:15, Device:00, Function: 00 (it ranges from function 00  to 05)
AND disabling the device through device manager results in a BSOD.
I've seen some people post about the Ricoh problem, but didn't have any resolution (at least for those who had the boot up error message too). The switchable graphics problem seems quite common too but in my case it seems like it is working fine EXCEPT for the fact that only one graphics adapter can appear on the device manager at one time and I can't do switching at all. Anyone know if I can somehow solve this? Sorry for the wall of text and two-problems-in-one. I put them together because I don't know if one problem is affecting the other as both problems appeared at around the same time.

As far as the graphics goes it's well accpeted the only way at present to switch is though the bios manually. There is currently no drivers that enable users to switch from within Win7. Know it's a pain but will just have to wait.

  • Aluminum MacBook 24.GHz and Windows 7 64-bit - NVidia Drivers and kbmgr.exe

I ahve got this mostly working, except I cannot install any Nvidia drivers - windows 7 insists they are not compatible.
I installed the laptopvideo2go 9400M 64-bit Nvidia drivers via modded inf, Windows identifies them as drivers which match my video card, but when I try to change to that driver, Windows says those drivers are not compatible with the OS.
    Anyone figure out a workaround?
Also, kbmgr.exe does not work at all, no errors, nothing happens when I double-click on it.

Yesterday, I set up rEFIt boot loader and tried to boot from the DVD. There were a list of errors. Probably the problem is my external DVD drive, but SL was installed using the very one. Continue my investigation ...

I recently purchased an HP Envy h8-1520z with a single SSD and 8 GB RAM running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.  I installed 2 Western Digital 500 GB WDC WD5000AAKX-001CA0 HDDs on SATA ports 5 & 6 and configured them as RAID 1 in the BIOS.  I have started installing apps on the RAID 1 array (E since the SSD is only 256 GB.
While installing software, some install fine, but often the installation hangs with no errors indicated and I have to kill the installer task through task manager.  I usually follow that with a system shutdown or restart and almost every time that results in a resync of the RAID array.  Sometimes the shutdown or restart is quick, and other times it takes several minutes with intermittent disk activity as indicated by the drive light.  I have sometimes given up after 10 minutes or so and powered down by holding down the power button.  I can understand a resync after the forced power down, but it seems that all it takes to cause a resync is a failed installation, and that seem to happen a lot, even with software that explicitly says it is Windows 8 compatible.  Sometimes the applications run fine even after an apparently failed installation and other times not so much.
Has anybody else seen this behavior or have any suggestions?  I’d like to get this sorted out before I load any more software.

    Hi,
Did you check each hard drive for straps? There should not be any straps installed on the hard drive. These drives do have strapping posts.
Did you use the AMD RaidExpert to create the array volume?  Did you wait until the RAID migration was complete before using the array volume?
Check the AMD RaidExpert for errors. It's possible that you have a bad hard drive(s).
Many applications want to be installed on the C drive.  Your SSD is 256GB so you should have plenty of space for most applications and the application performance will be improved.  Use the RAID 1 array to keep and store your data. The mirroring process of RAID 1 will protect it in case one hard drive fails.
You might want to consider removing all of the data etx.. from the array, use the AMD RAIDExpert to delete out the array volume.  I would then run for hard drive diagnostics.  If the hard drives are free from errors then use disk management to separately reformat each hard drive.  Now go back to the AMD RaidExpert and create your new array volume.
Be sure to review the software and bios updates for your PC.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.
