Thinkpad T60 Error installing Vista not seeing cd/dvd
I’ve removed all programs recommended by IBM and Microsoft.  After Vista loads files
I get the error below.  Its like it doesn’t see the cd dvd to reboot and finish installing.  Any Ideas?  Jack

I was able to up grade XP to Vista without error..  I disabled everything in Bios.  Vista loaded and was able to get IBM and Microsoft updates.  I had already run Microsoft adviser so had idea which programs had to be uninstalled.

    5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
    6) After deleting the keys, close the Registry Editor
    7) Reboot your computer

If you have Adaptec Easy CD Creator, you may be receiving an Error Code 31 instead of Error Code 39, the same procedure above will work for the Error Code 31, 32, or 39.

  • I-movie does not see i-DVD

    I-movie does not see i-DVD
I am using a mac mini with system 10.3.7 with 1.47 Ghz Power PC G-4 and 512 MB Ram.
I was having problems with my I-DVD crashing every time I asked it to burn a DVD or make a disc file.
Then I reinstalled I-movie 5 and I-DVD 5 but now the imovie does not seem to see the iDVD. It asks for an i-DVD version 4 or higher when I have already installed the version 5. It does not seem to see it.
I decided to try version 4 but the installation disc that I have for I-life 4 does not allow me to install I-movie and I-DVD from the disc because it says that one of those applications is open. Thus I had to drag the applications from another computer.
So, I transferred an old version 4 for I-movie and I-DVD from another computer and when I try to make a DVD it comes up with the message that I need an I-DVD version 3 or higher and does not see the version 4 that is there.
The result is that I can create a DVD from I-movie.
If I try to create a DVD booting up on my firewire external HD with 10.3.4 and versions 4 of imovie and idvd, I have no problem.
    Ideas?
    Thanks you,
    Robert Najemy

    Hi Robert,
Mac OS 10.4.2 is now available. Have you considered upgrading your OS?
Having said that, I will qualify it by also saying that I do not know if that one item will solve your problem but I am wondering if your OS and your applications are now confused?
    Hope this helps.

  • Thinkpad T60 Error Message - Diskeeper Lite

I have a 2 year old Thinkpad T60 (1953-D6U) running Windows XP Pro SP3.  Recently, I have seen an error message when starting Diskeeper Lite, which came bundled with my computer.
MMC has detected an error in a snap-in.  It is recommended that you shut down and restart MMC.
    * Report this error to Microsoft, and then shut down MMC
    * Continue running and ignore errors with this snap-in for the rest of the session
    * Continue running and always ignore errors with this snap-in, regardless of users or session.
Does Lenovo offer an upgrade to Diskeeper Lite or know how to eliminate this problem?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hello ...
Usually the installable setup file is located at c:\swtools\apps\dkeeper...
Unless you have formated your hd and don't have a backup you should be able to find it.

  • Client Installing But Not All Components Are Available Post Install

    Hi,
Now I am not positive how the posy client install process works but it seems the CM client normally installs and has only base components, then downloads a policy and installs the other components based on the policy?
I have 2 DP's that is PXE enabled. 1 DP works fine installing the CM client via task sequence on W7. What happens at the other DP is after the task sequence runs it seems like the CM client is stuck and won't install the additional components. The way you
can usually tell there is a problem with the CM client is there are only 6 of the 7 tabs present when you open the CM client and if you click on the Actions tab half the actions are missing. What logs should I be looking at to try and troubleshoot this?
Here is the policy agent log from the client that has the issues described above:

Clients stuck in provisioning mode are usually due to unexpected reboots or unexpected state changes within the task sequence. Double reboots caused by a handful of software updates are a common culprit as of late. Really, the only way to troubleshoot
this is trial and error. Remove things from your TS and run it again to see if the client agent stays in provisioning mode or not. Start with the Install Software Update task.

  • Bootcamp does not see replacement DVD drive in Mac Pro3,1

Recently purchased  LG Super-Multi Drive - Mac Pro Kit 24X 5.25" Internal DVD/CD Writer from OWC and installed it in lower DVD drive according to the manuel provided including wire to Sata plug in Mac Pro3,1. A difference is that Top of 2 DVD ports has a faulty drawer door so I have removed the original Apple DVD device from it.
I now have  DVD access/play  using LG in Mountain Lion with bottom Drive but none at all in Boot Camped Windows 7 or 8 which do not see the SATA drive in lower drawer.
Wondering if there is any fix for this.

My Latest email back & forth with OWC:
My Mac Pro is 3,1 early 2008. My understanding before purchase was that it would work in Mt. Lion and Windows.
Is there anyone who knows how to make this work?
This is a very well known issue that was discovered shortly after the 2006 Mac Pro first shipped.
    Sincerely,
    OWC Andy

  • To install Vista (64 bit) do you have to install 64 bit XP??

I've tried and failed at a fresh install of Vista (on a separate HD) WITHOUT Boot Bamp. It crashes...
So I tried using Boot Camp and XP but only have the 32 bit version of XP.
Is the key to instally Vista using a 64 bit XP first??
I have a brand new MacPro 3gig with a fresh, second 500gb HD that I'd like to put Vista on....
    Thanks

There are many users who have had success in installing Vista onto their Intel Macs although I believe there's a small trick to it. So, what you might want to do is search some other forums. I would start with the Boot Camp forums and then move onto other Intel Mac forums such as the iMac, MacBook or MacBook Pro forums.
By the way, you should not need a 64-bit version to work with the Mac Pro. A 32-bit version should be just fine.

    thank you!

    Hi Anne,
Your version of Safari is still supported.  Please see Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs for supported OS and browsers.
If the Flash Player plugin is in the Plug-ins (disabled) folder it's because it's an older version that Apple has disabled in Safari.  This has nothing to do with whether or not Flash Player supports the browser.
I'm not sure what you mean by "when i click on flash player itself i am told there is no application to open it."  Flash Player.plugin only works in the browser to view Flash content in the browser.  The plugin does not open files outside of the browser.  If you have SWF files you'd like to view outside of the browser, then you'll need the Flash Player projector. However, based on your previous comments this doesn't appear to be what you are trying to do.
Google Chrome does embed Flash Player in it, while Firefox does not.   Mozilla has also recently started blocking older versions of Flash Player in Firefox similar to what Apple is doing in Safari.
Following the 'clean install' instructions should result in you having the latest version of Flash Player installed that will not be blocked by the browser.

  • Install could not create the folder /private/tmp/install teamviewer

While trying to install teamview I receive the follow message "Installer could not create folder /private/tmp/install teamviewer" does anyone have a solution on what i may be doing wrong.

While trying to install teamview I receive the follow message "Installer could not create folder /private/tmp/install teamviewer" does anyone have a solution on what i may be doing wrong.
The Unix /tmp directory (/tmp is a symlink to /private/tmp) is suppose to allow full access to everyone.  It is a place for a process to create temporary files and directories.
So if you cannot create a file or directory there, I would wonder if it has the correct permissions.  I have:
    Mavericks: drwxrwxrwt  17 root  wheel  - 578 Oct 17 20:40 /private/tmp/
    Lion:          drwxrwxrwt  11 root  wheel  - 374 Oct 17 20:41 /private/tmp/
    Leopard:    drwxrwxrwt   8 root  wheel  - 272 Oct 17 08:46 /private/tmp/
Where d is for directory.  rwxrwxrwx says user, group, and other all have read, write, and directory search permissions.  t says ONLY the owner of a file may delete that file from the directory.  And since I have the same permissions on 3 different flavors of Mac OS X, that is what I expect you should see.
etresoft, I do not know why ptcharlotte wants to install TeamViewer.com, but I use it to remotely access a Mac I control when getting across home NAT routers is being a pain. Or in my Mom's case, I use it as a backup, in case one of my relatives decides to be helpful and ends up disabling my ssh port forwarding into my Mom's iMac (I'm 300 miles away, so having TeamViewer.com as a backup can save me a long drive to Mom's, or as always seems to happen, when I'm on vacation a 1,000+ miles away ).

  • Archive and Install problem (not enough disc space for another install)

Alright, so I've got the blue screen. I tried getting rid of the APE stuff, and they were all successfully deleted, but it's still the blue screen. So I'm going to do the Archive/Install thing. My problem is that if I try to do an Archive and Install, I won't have enough space to do it. I have around 3.5 GB right now, but that's probably not enough to do another install.
My only option I think is to go into single-user mode and manually remove my larger files. I have a back-up drive, and I tried removing all the stuff that's on the back-up drive from my computer, but all of them are listed as read-only.
So is there a way to override permissions in the UNIX thing? Or is there another option for me with?
Also I don't know if this matters, but I'm installing it from an external DVD drive and I'm doing it from PANTHER and not Tiger.

  • Photoshop CS4 on Vista not seeing 4 gigs of RAM

I am running Photoshop as part of the CS4 Suite on a bootcamped intel mac pro towers using Vista Business with 4 gigs of Memory. We are running in 32 bit mode because of the Apple screw up with Carbon 64 so that both sides of the house windows and mac match.
Photoshop is currently only seeing 1639 MB of the RAM instead of the performance on the Mac of about 3000 MB
So does anyone know what is going on here and how I can get Photoshop and or Vista to recognize most if not all of the RAM installed on these machines.
    Specs are below...
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 11.0 (11.0x20080919 [20080919.r.488 2008/09/19:02:00:00 cutoff; r branch])
    Operating System: Windows Vista 32-bit
    Version: 6.0 Service Pack 1
System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:7, Stepping:6 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2
    Physical processor count: 4
    Processor speed: 2793 MHz
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
    Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 x 4294967296 colors
    Video Card Driver: nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll
    Driver Version: 7.15.11.8048
    Built-in memory: 2037 MB
    Free memory: 1178 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 1640 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 55 %
    Image cache levels: 4
    Application folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\
    Temporary file path: C:\Users\MGD\AppData\Local\Temp\
Photoshop scratch has async I/O enabled
    Scratch volume(s):
    C:\, 349.4G, 324.0G free
    Primary Plug-ins folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\
    Additional Plug-ins folder: not set

While Jim's suggestion is the only solution to addressing all your system's memory, I am surprised you only have 2037 MB (built-in) memory. Perhaps you are running processes or have devices attached which are eating into your memory by as much as .5 MBs?
I also have 4GBs installed ram. Right off the top, Windows strips 1 GIG to reserve space for Video Cards and other devices. I lose another .5 MB to the system.
This is a well-known limitation of 32-bit systems and like Jim says, there is little to be done except to upgrade to Vista 64. You can remove devices and stop processes and services, but you'll not ever see . . . at very best . . . 3.5 GBs. (Well, you might by using the /PAE switch, but that is more risk than I'm willing to play with.)
This is what my system looks like:
Operating System: Windows Vista (Ultimate) 32-bit
    Version: 6.0 Service Pack 1
System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:7, Stepping:7 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2
    Physical processor count: 4
    Processor speed: 3666 MHz
    Video Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Video Card Renderer: GeForce GTX 280/PCI/SSE2
    OpenGL Drawing: Enabled.
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280
    Video Mode: 1920 x 1200 x 4294967296 colors
    Video Card Driver: nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll
    Driver Version: 7.15.11.7740
    Built-in memory: 2557 MB
    Free memory: 1281 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 1640 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 60 %
    Image cache levels: 4
Thus far, I've not encountered any problem using a 32-bit version. That is partly because I've not done anything with PS or other applications which might cause problems. But, as I do more with the Master Suite I expect that situation to change. Then, I'll upgrade to Vista 64.
I'm kinda keeping my eyes and ears open about Windows 7. Unless I encounter performance problems, I'd rather wait for the next version. According to rumors, the earliest date would be the end of the year, if not early 2010.

Replaced MBP 5,4 (mid 2009) hdd with a Samsung HM641JI 640gb drive. OS X installation went fine using SL install disk, updated software to 10.6.4. Problem is with Windows 7 installation using Boot Camp. Partition is created (tried 32 to 300 gb). Windows 7 install disk loads but after "Install now" and accepting license agreement, it does not recognize the drive or any partitions. XP install works fine. Had same Win7 problem with 2 identical hdds and 3 different install disks which were full version, not upgrades. Installed Win7 using boot camp on 320 gb Samsung drive (also 3.0gb/s SATA) without a problem. Tried formatting the bootcamp partition on the 640 gb drive to NTFS, but still not recognized. Any suggestions?

Odd you can't see anything. I'd use Windows 7 recovery tools to do a full initialize and map out bad blocks if necessary. Or initialize from OS X drive and then do full slow format etc from Windows DVD.
Every drive vendor has their own linux/dos/windows utility to recertify and test sectors and does a better job than anyone else's. WD Lifeguard for all my WD drives, can be very handy.
