Thinkpad T61 - Embedded Web Camera, Lenovo Camera Center issues

Hello, Recently purchased a T61 with the embedded web cam.  The notebook comes with "Lenovo Camera Center" software (which is more like a portal for camera-related software) but there is no useful software that enables me to actually use the camera - for example, to record clips or take a snapshot with it.  Nor can I figure out where to get such software.  I signed up for Skype and the camera works fine in that context.  But other than that, I am at a loss.  Why did this T61 not come with some basic software to use the camera?  Or is this an issue with Vista?
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Then it should be possible. I was of the opinion that the cable already has the camera connector. Best to do is opening the bezel and taking a look. If I remember correctly it was placed left from the Thinklight.
You will need then a camera, a bracket and the small cover. You get this all in Ebay and alikes.
Take a look at the HMM for more details. Start with page 111 from the document (not from your pdf reader) => click me!

  • Trying to find Lenovo Camera Center software

    Hey folks!
I am setting up a new XP image for my company. I installed a pretty vanilla Windows XP with SP3 and such, but now I am looking for the Lenovo Camera Center software. I have already installed the driver itself, but all I can find online related to the actual Camera Center program is complaints. Personally, I haven't had any issue with the software and the camera seems to work fine on these T500's. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I don't realy feel comfortable downloading it from a source outside of Lenovo, but I can if I have to other choice.

On original install, try to look for it under C:\SWTools or in C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Camera Center.

    2 problems with lenovo camera:
1- using the camera program of lenovo EASY CAPTURE- when i change camera to lower  resolution -it is not fixed and goes back to max. resolution. WHY? how to FIX it?
2- the camera is not recognized at  control panel->scanners & camera, WHY? (though a driver is recognized in device menager as lenovo easycamera by microsoft provider)
3-what's EASY CAPTURE app. VS. easycamera driver???
    Lenovo G530 4446-24G
had vista and now win7 32bit

    Hello amir_s,
    Thanks for your PM.
In regards to your question, i would think you downloaded the wrong driver that caused it not appear in the control panel. However, it is just my assumption. For 4446 machine type, i would advise users to download it from here (Bison/Chicony Camera Drive) instead of this consumer support page. It is because the latter one is more general while the earlier one is specifically for machine type 4446. Try this driver and i hope your 1st and 2nd questions can be resolved.
Easy Capture app and EasyCamera driver are of course different. The app does not have driver as it is only an utility tool for you to easily capture an image or video. The driver is the necessary files to enable your camera to work properly. However, I advise you to download the Bison/Chicony Camera Driver that i suggested to you earlier. You may use any tool such as EasyCapture to snap picture as long as you have installed the right driver.
    Does this help?

  • Lenovo Solution Center Windows 10 On Thinkpad Edge 15

Just upgraded to Windows 10.  Ran Windows Update from Control Panel a couple of times.  However, the Lenovo Solutions Center alerts showing Windows Upgrade never done.  When I click on "launch" or "Windows Update" nothing happens.  The is on a Thinkpad Edge 15.  I was hoping to find a download for the Lenovo Solution Center software thinking I could delete it and then download it and reinstall to solve the problem.  Obviously if there is another way that would be nice to know.

I have same problem on a diiferent model Lenovo desktop PC. If you want to try reinstalling the solution centre software, you can find it here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/lenovodiagnosticsolutions/tools/lscoverview Let me know how this goes, I might also try this myself.

  • Where can I purchase a Thinkpad T61 fan replacement?

Where can I purchase a Thinkpad T61 fan replacement?  I've looked all over the Lenovo site, and I can only find the part number referenced, not a location to purchase it.
When I opened up my Thinkpad, on the fan, it said:
    Lenovo P/N 42W2461
    FRU P/N 42W2460
Has anyone here ever tried other merchants with success (eBay, etc.)?
(I'm out of warranty, and the fan gets noisy when hot, unlike when it was new, and I sometimes get "Fan Error" on bootup at the BIOS.)
    Solved!

According to this page on IBM's web site, you can call IBM Parts Help at +1 (877) 719-0841.

  • G580 Lenovo Support Center - Device Manager - Unknown device

  • Q190 and Lenovo Solution Center Software

Is the latest available Solution Center Software compatible with--or intended to be used on--the Q190 "entertainment" PC?  My version says I need a driver update, bu they are all current.
The only download source I can find within Lenovo does not list the Q series computers as compatible--yet an earlier verson of SC came preloaded on the machine.
    Thanks for any available insight.

    Hi Z34jcm,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to inform you that the LSC (Lenovo Solution Center) is not available for Q190 Desktop. Below is the link to download the compatible version of LSC, while installing the driver right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as administrator” option to get it installed without any error:
    Lenovo Solution Center for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), 8 (64-bit), 7 (64-bit) - Desktops, Notebooks, WorkS...
Do post us back if the issue still persists.
    Best Regards
    Shiva Kumar

I'm having some trouble with random kernel panics on a thinkpad T61. Sometimes they occur just after boot yet other times I can be using my laptop for hours with absolutely no problems before it decides to panic. Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but recently I've been getting random kernel panics on my t61 as well. I believe the root cause is the wireless card. I have an intel 4965 card just like you.

  • ISSUE: Lenovo Solution Center update resets all Settings!

Longstanding problem continues with update to 2.0.020: When Lenovo Solution Center (LSC) updates, all Settings are reset, wiping out options to suppress certain screens and alerts. While not a functionality issue, it's very annoying to have to configure LSC all over again after evey update, so much so that some of my clients stop updating (one client called it the Lenovo Annoyance Center, and removed it entirely), so please fix this issue. Thank you.
    Hope that helps,
    John

We're aware of this issue and agree it is very annoying, especially since LSC updates itself so often.  LSC team tells me fixing it is a priority for an upcoming release (either 2.1 or 2.2).  Sorry for this inconvenience caused by LSC.

  • Hopefully simple question. Event ID 2 Task Category (2) Lenovo Message Center Plus Admin

    Hey group,
Wanted to ask you guys what I was missing. In my event log as the title implies I have a Event ID 2 Task Category (2) error in Lenovo Message Center Plus Admin coming as a result of a 404 error. Issue is I don't know what page it is looking for when it is tossing me the 404 error. Is this a result of Lenvo Updater goofing up using the ADM templates for GPO or is this something else? Would be helpful if it registred the non working link it was trying to obtain so we could isolate it better. Thoughts on this? Thanks!

try this when you download the file save it to your download folder then right click it and run as admin. it says there is no Lenovo Digital Signature I tried to install it didn't work but I did it this way and it worked

  • Cannot Upgrade Lenovo Solution Center

When I try to upgrade to the latest version of Lenovo Solution Center on my Edge E520, the installation of Adobe AIR 64 fails.  I tried rebooting and the same thing happens, and I am trying running as administrator and not as administrator.  So I uninstalled the old version and tried to install from scratch and now I can't do that either so I am stuck without a working version of LSC.

Sorry for some odd reason I didn't get notified when you posted your original reply, so I will give that a try in the next few days and post back an answer.
I uninstalled the original version of LSC not AIR -  I tried to uninstall AIR but I could not because it does not show in the list of installed programs which seems odd.
Also TVSU told me there was a new version of LSC available, and I downloaded it.  Supposedly it was installed but when I rebooted, it was still running the old 1.1.007.00 version which is not the new version that was supposedly installed (2.4.003) - which is not the version on the Lenovo web site (2.5.002).
It fails both when trying to install via direct install of 2.5.002 from lenovo.com, and when trying to update from the self update offered from the Lenovo Message Center.

  • Current Lightroom / Camera Raw Camera Profile for Sony ILCE-6000 inaccurate: green cast in shadows! Capture one better! Please fix it!

    Hi folks from Adobe!
Please take note that the current Lightroom / Adobe Camera Raw Camera Profile for the Sony ILCE-6000 is very inaccurate: There is a serious green cast in the shadows!
Capture One Express for Sony (which is free by the way) renders a lot more correctly!
Please correct this, since I'd rather buy the coming LR6 because of keeping my established workflow instead of going the Capture One route.
A good example can be found in the dpreview forum "LR5 A6K shadow pulling, a mess! Adobe LR is broken? "
Or search for Philp Reeves 3 weeks with the Sony A6000 review "3 Wochen mit der a6000", where he compares it to the Sony A7, using both times Lightroom to push the shadows.
The Sony A7 is fine where earth looks like brown earth, the A6000 picture looks like grass instead.
Please fix this! This is a high volume camera frequently bought by enthusiast or as second body for FF photographers. That would be really great!

I am talking about the two raw files linked in the very last post of page 6 of the Reeves comparison thread, not JPGs or screenshots of unknown manipulation.  In LR they both say f/11 and ISO 100 and have a similar tone, but one is shot at twice the shutter speed as the other.  This side-by-side is using Adobe Factory Defaults for each image where the profile is Adobe Standard, the toning sliders are all 0, tone-curve linear, and the Sharpening and Color NR are 25:
However, when I look at the camera-embedded JPGs, side-by-side, the 1/80th image on the left is darker than the 1/40th image on the right, as expected given the reported shutter-speed difference:
And it is indeed the darker image that has more shadow problems, also as expected.
When I do manipulate the darker (a6000) raw file in LR, I do see that the shadows are greenish when brightened unlike most other cameras which usually show magenta, which is the combination of the blue and red sensors showing more noise because there are half-as-many photosites as compared to the green, so I am seeing what people are complaining about and would expect shadow noise to be purple not green, I'm more concerned that these two example raws aren't actually comparable due to apparent differences in exposure.  It is also odd that the lens listed in LR is different than the lens listed in the filename, so either someone has mistakenly or deliberately renamed the file wrong or someone or something has changed the EXIF parameters that LR is reporting to be the same when they're really not.
