Thinkpad tablet 10 maximum external monitor resolution

Hi,
The max resolution that I'm getting on the external monitor either using the docking station or the micro HDMI port is 1920x1080. The native resolution for the touch panel is 1920X1200.
1. Is there any way to get alo least 1920X1200 on the external monitor?
2. If not, what could be the technical reason if the video card in theory supports even more than 1920X1200.
Thanks.

I'm afraid that this limit of resolution looks to be by design; the Lenovo spec in the PSREF documents state:
"Intel HD Graphics in processor, supports 1080p video out via micro-HDMI connector, HDCP-compliant"
The Intel Atom chipset used in the TP10 apparently doesn't deal with higher resolutions than this. See:
https://communities.intel.com/thread/55056?start=0&tstart=0
Baytrail processors from the Core range can go to higher resolutions, but I don't think that this applies to the Atom architecture.

My local Lenovo Partner just confirmed the data in "User Guide" of the TPYoga, that the external screen resolution will only be 1920x1200.
    "User Guide"  Page 10, http://www.lenovo.com/shop/americas/content/user_guides/tpyoga_ug_en.pdf
    "Display resolution:
    – LCD: 1366-by-768 or 1920-by-1080, depending on the model
    – External monitor: up to 1920-by-1200, depending on the monitor model"
I mean what do I want the OneLink Dock / OneLink PRO Dock for??
Of cause to connect a large screen and this not with a worse ppi than the intern display. So I need at least 2560x1600
(we don’t even talk about all the disadvantages of a 16:9 screen, cause that’s off topic).
Idealy I expect of cause a 4k resolution possibility together with the OneLink Pro Dock and multi stream (daisy chain) possibility at the display port.
But 1920x1200 external graphic output can’t be meant serious for a 2000US$ device??

Ok, let’s accept that the new Thinkpad YOGA Manual includes misinformation.
Actually I’m sitting in front of my 2048x1152 Display which is connected to my 8 years old Asus Notebook via DVI. Does this old jalopy perform a higher resolution via DVI than the Thinkpad Yoga via “OneLink PRO Dock-DVI” does?

(I’m guessing in the first line (behind "One monitor") it’s supposed to mean DVI instead of DP”
    (1) Lenovo, are these technical details of the NEW OneLink Pro Dock also wrong like the Manual of the Yoga regarding the maximum resolution?
Would be very helpful for me to plan with correct information..
    (2) And is it definitely true that I can't connect two displays at the OneLink PRO Dock with a higher resolution than 1920x1200??
That would mean I send the Thinkpad Yoga back and better stay with my 8 years old ASUS jalopy.. smileyfrustrated:

  • [solved] ThinkPad connect with extern Monitor Problem

    Hello community
I have installed arch on my T420 integrated HD 3000 and i have the Problem that when i start arch and the boot messages comes i can see the deamon starts ok,ok,ok who should be on the right side but on the NEC they was displayed 5 cm inside. Also when iam on the console and i type dmesg all the output scroll down and broke 5 cm from the roof. And when iam on openbox and i will maximize one window it would be maximized on the size from the Laptop LCD.
    I have made an .xinitrc

    @trilby
i use my Laptop at home 95% and at work 5%
so my first choice would be to have the perfect resolution on my NEC external and when i opened a window it would display there and i dont have to open my Laptop to move the screen to see it on my external or is it so that you must have opened the laptop display to move the windows?
And when i would take it at work it would be perfect if i see it on the laptop with his resolution 1600x900
i hope i explained it well.
    @anoknusa
i change your config to this
xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1600x900 --pos 0x900 --rotate normal --output DP2 --mode 1920x1200 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal
when i start firefox it was displayes well on my external but when i opened xterm or thunar pcman i have to open my laptop and move from it up to the external do i make a mistake?
anoknusa wrote:I stuck that in a script to run when I start X; if the external monitor isn't plugged in, only the laptop display is used.  This sets each screen to act as a seperate display; I can still drag windows between them if I wish, as well as assign windows to open on one screen or the other through DWM's configuration file.  As mentioned earlier, this is also the only way (I think) to get each screen to display at its native resolution.  Note that I specify the resolution for both my T520 LCD and my external monitor, and specify their positions (my external is mounted to the wall above my desk, directly above my laptop); change those as necessary.
what has xrandr to look like for my external monitor and laptop?
and what would the script look like for me?

and thank you for your patience and have a nice day

  • External monitor resolution setting is not saved

I use an external monitor as an extended desktop for my macbook pro.
The problem is that whenever I turn on the mbp, the resolution of the external monitor reverts back to the default resolution. Is there any way to set the resolution of the external monitor and have the mbp save it even after turning the mbp on and off?

    Hello all,
After installing the 10.5.2 update, my Macbook Pro's boot time increased. So, after researching this issue, I decided to reset the PRAM. This solved the boot time problem, as my Mac now boots as quickly as it did prior to the update. But now, the brightness setting is not saved and the brightness level returns to the maximum value each boot up. Other settings, like audio level, are saved properly. The brightness seems to be the only problem. Any ideas on how to correct this?
    Thanks,
    Anthony
Besides staying with 10.5.1 has anyone found a real solution to this? I want to install Aperture and I need to have 10.5.2 installed in order to instal Aperture v2.x.
    Thanks!

  • Question About External Monitor Resolution

Can my external monitor's resolution (such as 1920/1200) connected to my macbook be higher then the 1280/800 my computer has?

The problem with running in mirrored mode is that the external display will be limited to a set of resolutions that match the aspect ratios that are supported by the MacBook's internal LCD. This means that you will end up with a limited set of resolutions on your external display and it may even be impossible to select the optimum or native resolution for your external display (when running in the mirrored mode). However, when you disable mirrored mode you should be able to select any resolution that is supported by the external display itself (as reported by the display hardware). However, there have been reports of users having problems with resolution settings when they connect a display using HDMI, since in some cases that appears to default to a maximum resolution of 1920x1080, which is the standard 1080P for HDTV.

  • External monitor resolutions question

According to System Preferences, I currently have a maximum resolution of 1280x960 on my built-in monitor.
If I hook up a large external monitor with higher resolution capabilities, will System Preferences automatically show the higher resolutions and allow me to select them, or will I be limited to 1280x960 on the external monitor as well?

will I be limited to 1280x960 on the external monitor as well?
If you're using an eMac, iBook, or PowerPC iMac, and haven't altered the computer's firmware, yes.

Each has its limitations. Mirroring limits the external to the internal's max resolution. Extended desktop doesn't allow you to mirror. You're going to have to decide which you like better.
I'm still not clear what you're seeing in extended desktop. You should be able to get a whole desktop's worth of display on the external display, not just half of it. Open display prefs > arrangement again and drag the menu bar from the little/built in display over to the big one/external display.

  • MBP external monitor resolution issue

Hi, im having issues with my 2010 MBP 13 inch, which has an Nvidia 320M,
Ive installed Windows 7 32 bit, and connected a Hanns G HG216D external monitor thru a mini display port to VGA connector.
The problem is that the maximum resolution i can get is 1024x768, i cannot choose or create the native resolution of my monitor which is 1680x1050.
Ive tried installing the monitor drivers with no luck.
Does someone has experience on this?
    Thanks in advance!

I was able to get it by having arandr help generate the config, here's the solution that worked for me:
xrandr --output HDMI1 --off --output LVDS1 --auto --right-of DP1 --output DP1 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal --auto --output VGA1 --off

  • External monitor resolution in Vista on MacBook Pro

I am running Vista Ultimate on a MacBook Pro. I have a Dell 24" external monitor plugged in, which supports a top resolution of 1920 x 1200. But Vista thinks it's a generic non-PnP monitor with a top resolution of 1024 x 768. I have installed the Windows drivers from my Leopard disk, but neither the Vista Displays control panel nor the nVidia software think the resolution of this monitor can go any higher. I tried looking on nVidia's site for newer drivers, but they said for the M series video cards to go to the computer manufacturer for drivers because they modify them for power consumption and other special needs.

    I found the solution.
    Go here:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17701
Click on Driver to download it.
    Extract it
    Go to
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17701 again
Click on Modded INF to download it.
Copy it to the extracted folder.
    Run setup.exe
You now have full control over your nvidia card. Which also means you can plug in external monitors
Tested on Macbook pro 15" with nvidia 8600M GT.

I am trying to set up a samsung syncmaster 191Tplus as an external monitor on my macbook from early 2008 running 10.6.8. When I plug it in, both screens flash (not just a flicker) as shown in this youtube video posted by someone else, but my problem is the same
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-Yz-Em2GU4.
I am using the mini-DVI to VGA adaptor. The resolution of the samsung is 1280x1024, which is not listed in my choice of display resolutions. Is this the cause? What can I do? I can't access settings to change anything after the monitor is connected, and I can't find settings for the external monitor before it is connected. Would using SwitchResX work to create a monitor resolution preset before plugging in the second monitor?

OK, here is something to try. Go into System Preferences and select Displays. In the window that opens will be a checkbox for "Show displays in menu bar." Put a checkmark there and make it active. There should now be a little icon of an Apple display on the right side of the menu bar at the top of the screen. If you click on it, it will drop down and give you a short cut to different resolutions. There should be a checkmark next to the currently active resolution. Is it set to 1440 x 900? If not, set it there.
If you are still getting that message from the monitor, well, I don't think the Mac is lying about sending 1440 x 900. If the screen doesn't look right to you, try using the Auto Adjustment feature on your Viewsonic monitor. It could just be that the image needs adjusting.

  • Low external monitor resolution

Hallo, I've the Macbook AIr 13" (2012) with an external Samsung Synchmaster XL 2370 LED monitor. Unfortunately, the screen resolution of the 1920x1080 Samsung monitor is not at 1920x1080, but lower. The Mac OS 10.8.1 uses the profile HD 709-A. This cannot be the correkt profile. Does anyone have an advice?

Are you using mirrored or extended display mode. If mirrored then the resolution of the laptop will also be mirrored. If using extended mode you can set the resolution of the external monitor differently than the resolution of the laptop. And try to toggle the resolution in System Preferences>Displays.

  • External monitor resolution problem

    Hi,
My external monitor's resolution is 1920 x 1080 but the highest I see in resolutions' list is 1600 X 900 or 1344 x 1008.  I am connecting my MacBook snow leopard to Asus ML249H with HDMI cable.  I've tried some suggestions that were posted for Mac Pro but nothing worked.  Can anyone help?  Thanks!
