Thinkpad Twist - Intel HD4000 GPU Driver via Windows Update

I installed what Intel claims to be the latest graphics driver, but after I installed that driver windows update is telling me they have a newer version.  I always try to avoid drivers through winup if I can get them through the mfg.  Anyone have any pro's / cons with

  • Got Display driver via Windows Update for Windows 8.1 and try to use it for Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hi Everyone,
the following driver cab is from Windows Update:
    https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=5be01620eea95d8c&id=5BE01620EEA95D8C!138&ithint=file,.cab&authkey=!APDi54-R1Ob5IWQ
    It includes this display driver:
    Intel(R) Q45/Q43 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)
My problem is: I can't install this driver on Windows Server 2012 R2.
I tried the following, nothing worked:
    a) pnputil -i -a intel.cab
    b) Extract cab, update the device's driver in device manager, select "search for driver software in this location"
    c) copy the files in system32/, system32/drivers, syswow64/ from a Windows 8.1 system to a Windows Server 2012 R2 system
Isn't it true that any Windows 8.1 driver should also work for Windows Server 2012 R2 (same os version)?
    Thanks for your replies.

  • Intel 3000 Graphics driver from windows update failing to install. Error 800F0244

Hi all, So an update has come through windows update for my embedded graphics which is an Intel HD 3000. Problem is the update keeps failing. Tried restarting and nothing changed. I ended up jumping on to the Windows Forums and seems like this problem has just started to pop up for quite alot of users and no solution yet. This is what the windows website says for the Error : SPAPI_E_SIGNATURE_OSATTRIBUTE_MISMATCH0x800F0244 The software was tested for compliance with Windows Logo requirements on a different version of Windows, and may not be compatible with this version. So was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if anyone found a solution?

Hi Everyone , So after a few minutes of digging around this is what I found. This is the driver version that is failing for intel HD 3000. ( 9.17.10.4229 )     So I thought I'd check the driver on the Intel site, to see if it was the latest, which it was .. (9.17.10.4229)    And this is the driver currently installed for my HD 3000... and as noted its  ( 9.17.10.4229 )   SO its seems this problm is a windows update issue and the most current driver is available through intels website. No need to stress, jump onto the intel downloads page and download the latest one if you havent already, This is a link to the  32Bit Driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24970/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-32bit  Heres the link for the 64Bit https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24971/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-64-bit As for the windows update one, hide that update as clearly something isnt right and surely MS will patch it soon enough! Hoped this helped

  • HP Deskjet 3745 driver not downloadable via Windows Update in Windows 7.

    Dear sir / madam,
I am using a HP Deskjet 3745 now for several years at home. Recently I received a new laptop from my employer with Windows 7. I like to install the driver for my printeron this laptop, so I can also print at home. Unfortunately the windows update is managed by my employer, so I cannot download the software via Windows update.
Is there another way to receive this driver?
    With kind regards,
    Martin
    This question was solved.

The driver can be downloaded from the Microsoft Catalog Site, but the site is not very user friendly.  The catalog site only supports Internet Explorer, other browsers will not work.  Copy this link and paste it into IE:  http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=deskjet%203740
Do you have a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows 7?  The 32 bit driver is the one that is 11.4Mb in size, the 64 bit version is 11.6Mb in size. The 13.9Mb system is for IA64 server systems.  Once the file has been downloaded open a DOS prompt and change directory to the place where the file was downloaded.  Next insert your USB drive (I will assume it is drive X: in the following) and in the DOS box type the following:
    expand   *.cab   -F:*   x:\
This will extract the files and expand them onto your X: drive.  You can then take the USB drive to your work machine and click Start, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, Have a Disk and point to the inf file on the X: drive.

  • IOS backup storage not on C: drive via Windows XP

Is it possible to store backup files of iOS-devices anywhere else but C: disk drive via Windows XP? I can't update my iOS-devices to iOS 5, because I don't have enough space on the C: drive and therefore I can't accomplish backup process.
    Thanks.

You can redirect <Profile>\<AppData>\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to a folder on another drive using NTFSLink(shell ext., might only work on XP) or Junction (cmd line tool).

  • ThinkPad 8 - Intel HD Graphics driver update ?

The only video driver provided is http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/gtha02ww.txt version 10.18.10.3408 by Jan 2014. Intel offers generic driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+for+Intel%C2%AE+Atom%E2%84%A2+Processor+Z3700+Series version 10.18.10.4176 but the installation fails with error message that the device uses a customized OEM driver and can not be updated. Is there any Lenovo updated driver ? I got few BSODs GRAPHICS_DRIVER_TDR_TIMEOUT recently related to the driver.

It looks like Intel released a new update (4226) just a couple of days ago, I took a look at the igdlh.inf changes and it looks to be very close to the Lenovo configuration, so I'm giving it a try with good success so far. No stability issues and power consumption might be just a tiny bit improved (.1W or so less?) Differences appear to be:- New TiledDisplay internal setting, enabled by default- TrayIcon enabled by default (easily turned off)- Diagnostics tab disabled in igfxcui (non-issue)- Additional game workarounds for Halo2, etc. Halo on the TP8!? :-) Use device manager to install just the igdlh.inf in the Graphics\ directory of the Intel zip, no need for the other stuff. 64-bit: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloads/eula/24973/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-64-bit?httpDown=http%3A%2F%2Fdownloadmirror.intel.com%2F24973%2Fa08%2Fwin64_153336.zip 32-bit: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloads/eula/24972/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-32-bit?httpDown=http%3A%2F%2Fdownloadmirror.intel.com%2F24972%2Fa08%2Fwin32_153336.zip

  • IE 10 installed via Windows Updates

We have SCCM 2012 SP1 in our environment. We configured a number of Windows 7 computers manually with IE 9. Over the course of the night the computers might have pulled IE10 via windows update. The workstations are all pointing to the Sccm, but no upgrades
    were authorized.
On the Windows 7 machines reviewed the following log files in C:\Windows.
    1. IE10_main.log file in the Windows folder.
    2.Reviewed C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
Q1. From where did the IE 10 get installed on these machines?
Q2. Can we have the workstations stop AU and still receive patches via Sccm?
Q3. If we request a GPO to disable AU on all agency workstations patches will still get to the agency desktops w/o any issues?
IE10_main.log and WindowsUpdate have been uploaded to onedrive:
    https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=F3743C55DC76B1EE!1099&authkey=!AL40dKaAzl-_trc&ithint=folder%2c.log

    1. Don't know, you'd have to do some investigation. There is no process called "authorization" in ConfigMgr for updates though but assuming that the systems are correctly set to use ConfigMgr (and the WSUS instance that your SUP is installed on), then there
are two possibilities -- approval directly within WSUS or added to a deployed software update group -- in addition to someone manually doing it. It could also have been pushed as a package or application from within ConfigMgr.
    2. No. ConfigMgr uses the Windows Update Agent which is contained in the Windows Update service, this service must not be disabled.
    3. Yes, this is recommended for multiple reasons. This may or may not have anything to do with IE10 being installed though.

  • SCCM 2012: hotfixes via Windows updates?

    Hi,i
Is this still the proper way to deploy hotfixes via Windows updates in SCCM 2012 R2 (the article is more then a year old, maybe SCCM has other built in features to do this)?
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/michaelgriswold/archive/2013/03/13/kb2775511-deployment-for-the-sccm-admin.aspx
    Please advise.
    J.
    Jan Hoedt

    Hi,
As long as the hotfix is available in the Microsoft Update Catalog which not all hotfixes are, then it will work. It is not really supported to deploy it that way. Otherwise it is possible to deploy them using a package/program which is the way I normally
    does it.
Here is an example of a script to use.

  • S230u Thinkpad Twist Intel Wireless Card Compatability?

Is there an official list as to what Wireless Cards will work with the Lenovo Twist.  I know when they were sold you had two options of cards, and had to decide if you wanted the Intel which supported Miricast or the Broadcom version which supported 5Ghz. Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 & Bluetooth 4.0 (2x2 BGN & BT 4)Thinkpad a/b/g/n Wireless & Bluetooth 4.0 (2x2 ABGN & BT 4.0) Now there are Intel Cards out that support all of the above such as the Advanced-N 6235, but I can find no information if this or any other Intel cards will work with the Thinkpad Twist.  Any info would be appreciated.  Thanks.

There was an interesting post on Amazon about wireless cards for the Twist.  I'm going to try to upgrade from my Broadcom to an "Intel WiFi part 2230BNHMW chip with "FRU P/N 04W3765" written right on the face of the card" on my 3-year-old Twist, based on the poster's info: "Some Twists come with WiDi support and some don't. Mine didn't. It had the newest dual band (2.4 and 5 g) WiFi card that doesn't support WiDi because it isn't made by Intel. Lenovo did this all to save a couple of bucks. So I brought a WiFi card that did support WiDi and Lenovo had whitelisted the card and I had to return it to get a single band, "Lenovo certified", Intel chip. It would have been nice if Lenovo stated that it didn't have the correct WiFi card for WiDi. You will need the Intel WiFi part 2230BNHMW chip with "FRU P/N 04W3765" written right on the face of the card - the 04W3765 is the Lenovo part number. This is the only chip that will get past Lenovo whitelisting that will make WiDi work. Using the new Intel Wifi card had no impact the Twist's WiFi performance at my house. When I installed the WiFi chip, I didn't have to update any drivers. The computer automatically did it upon booting. The chip was very easy to install and if you go to the Lenovo Twist support website the manual shows you exactly how to do it. However, I did have to update the Audio driver using the Lenovo driver website. This is important because I updated all of the drivers using the Lenovo website when I got the computer. However, the Lenovo website failed to update the audio drivers. So when I first used the WiDi I had no sound. It was very easy to update but you will likely need to update the audio drivers separately should you do what I did. Once I installed the WiDi software for Windows 8 (from the Lenovo Website) and added the Neatgear Push2TV 3000 to my TV, it worked like a charm (I also updated the software on the Push2TV 3000 - PTV3000 that I purchased from Amazon. However, I don't think that this was critical)."

  • Intel Matrix Storage Manager disables Windows Update and Windows Validation on Windows 7 64-bit

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad R61 8918CTO on which I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64-bit) on a new Seagate Momentus XT 750GB drive. The installation was trouble-free, as were all of the post-install Windows Updates.
Then I installed ThinkVantage System Update 4.03 and used it to install most of the available Lenovo updates. Big mistake. I'll spare you a detailed account of the hours I wasted troubleshooting, rolling back to previous restore points, and doing more troubleshooting, but it turns out that installing Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver v. 8.9.2.1002 caused Windows Update and Windows Validation to fail.
Symptoms: Windows Update control panel can't check for updates and reports that the Windows Update service isn't running when it actually is. Online Windows Validation fails and the standalone Windows Validation utility won't install. Microsoft programs that require a validated copy of Windows (e.g., Microsoft Security Essentials) won't install.
Solution: Roll back the driver for the relevant SATA controller to the previous driver.
I've reinstalled ThinkVantage System Update 4.03 and hidden the proposed Intel Matrix Storage Manager update; since then, I've used it to complete my Lenovo updates without issue.
I hope this post will help other people with this problem find the solution a lot faster than it took me!

This happened after installing a new advanced format drive with 4k-byte sectors, I'd guess.  If the storage driver doesn't report the physical sector size to Windows, update fails.
I just ran across this myself (again) putting Win 7 on a T400.
I don't know why this is still going on.  It may be that the update lists for older machines still have pre-AF-drive drivers listed.
FYI, another fix is going to the Intel site and installing the latest Matrix Storage Manager AHCI driver.  This may be more desirable than rolling back to an older driver in some cases.

  • T400 et al: Connexant Smart Audio driver on Windows Update now.

Lenovo does not yet provide a real Audio driver for Win7 / Connexant chip. Today, by chance, i found out that on Windows Update you can OPTIONALLY (need to select it) get the DRIVER now. Not sure what changes compared to the "generic" Win7 driver, but this one comes from Connexant themselves. It does NOT add a control panel plugin, though.

No problem. It seems the Lenovo Chinese support site often releases new drivers several days ahead of the US site. • Block Patch KB3002657 from installing/being available via Windows Update via Group Policy

    Hi Everyone,
Been hearing a lot of issues around with KB3002657 causing Authentication issues. We've recently appeared to have similar issues. I'm currently getting out SCCM guru's to run
an inventory on our environment to review if we have had this deployed to our environment, either by Windows Update (manual), SCCM/Wsus etc. If we do we're looking to have this removed and not deployed via our normal mechanisms to stop any production outages.
I would like to see if it is possible to block/hide this update from being visible from Windows Update, possibly by Group Policy.
From memory Microsoft created specifc ADM templates for blocking updated for Internet Explorer version to assist with the same type of issues (i.e. to stop IE from being updated
via Automatic Updates). Would there by anything like this available for this update, or does anyone know of another way (specifc Registry settings or ADM files that could be edited) to achieve this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Lenovo G560 cannot get Windows 7 SP1 via Windows Update

My Lenovo G560 laptop running Windows 7 Home Basic is not getting the option to download Windows 7 SP1 from Windows Update. What could be the problem? Has anyone else experienced this? What is the solution? I have had the laptop for almost two years.

    hi SipoKapumba,
Do you get any error code(s) after a failed installation of Windows 7 SP1? Chances are, the prequisite to install Windows 7 SP1 are not installed.
    Can you try to:
    1. Follow this article from Microsoft and this guide in installing Windows 7 SP1 thru Windows Update
    2. If it still fails, try to run Windows 7 SP1 Standalone Installer. (use the windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe for 64bit machines)
    Hope this helps

  • Satellite P850-31L thinks Intel HD GPU driver is old after Win 8.1 upgrade

    Hi there,
I have had my Satellite P850-31L since last year and recently updated to windows 8.1.
This laptop has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M graphics card and it use to say that on my dxdiag.
Since updating to windows 8.1 my laptop seems to think I have a Intel HD Graphics 4000 and apparently it's out of date.
When I go on their site to test for the update.
I got told my graphics card is 'up to date' yet every thing else - including my toshiba driver manager says it's out of date.
I've tried updating yet I keep getting a message saying my system setting aren't good enough.
Anyne got any suggestions on what i can do.
Can I get my laptop to stop thinking it has a intel graphics when it has the NVIDEA chip

    > defterniko
After Windows 8.1 upgrade you should visit the Toshiba EU driver page and should update the drivers and utilities to the Windows 8.1 version.
Most people forget to do that they update the system from Windows 8 to Win 8.1 but dont update the drivers.
As mentioned by user IronMan; the installation instruction which is available on the Toshiba EU driver page shows you the driver and tool which needs to be updated and you should also follow the installation order mentioned in this instruction.
