Hello Denmark calling.
Solution for you’re:
ThinkPad USB 3.0 Secure Hard Drive problem.
In order to set the Admin pass, you will have to do the following
1. Press 0+OK for 5 sec, enter "12345678" and OK       = BLUE LED   (Admin mode)
2. Press OK+9                                                                        = BLUE LED flashes
3. Enter admin code with correct fashion, and then OK = BLUE LED flashes   (and now most important)
4. Re-enter admin code, and OK                                        = BLUE LED.
This must be done before attempting to change user password. (Obvious reasons)
For User code change.
This can be changed by accessing the admin mode first = BLUE LED
And then
1+OK                                                                                            = BLUE LED flashes
Re-enter user code and OK                                                    = BLUE LED
For User code and Admin code there is not mentioned any reference online reference supplied by Lenovo, which tells the new proud owner the correct way to alter standard codes.
But let it be said that in my humble opinion this is a (almost) great product (SSD would make the difference for me personally)
Hopes it helps

  • ThinkPad USB 3.0 Secure Hard Drive

    Hi all,
I have just bought  brand new (April 2013) external USB 3.0 secure hdd. The device connected fine using default user password and I am also able to enter administrator mode. So far so good.
The problem is I am unable to change/delete the default pass.
    1) I have tried changing it from user mode using Green+1, after which the diode blinks 3 times in red and goes green, while it should be blue.
    2) I have tried deleting it from administrator mode (7+8+Green)(7+8+Green) - did not work as well.
    3) I added a new user password from admin mode (Green+1) - worked fine
    4) I was able to unlock and login using the new user password - OK
    5) I was able to change the new user password (Green+1) to another one which also worked fine.
    6) I tried deleting all user passwords again from admin mode and the only one that was deleted was the one added by me.
So whatever I do, I am still able to unlock the drive using the default pass, which makes it useless.
I have seen at least one similar posts on this forum concerning the password change
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Options-Accessories/Thinkpad-USB-Secure-Hard-Drive-admin-password-changi...
and I hope someone will pay attention to this problem or I'll going to return it on Friday.

  • Why my Toshiba mobile hard drive (1TB) can not be used in the macbook air?

Why my Toshiba mobile hard drive (1TB) can not be used in the macbook air?

If you are speaking of the USB 3.0 Canvio, you are not alone. Call Toshiba and check on their progress in alleviating the problem. I heard they are blaming Apple, but since theirs is the only drive that exhibits this problem, I think the burden is on Toshiba.
Some users have reported that by using a micro USB 2.0 connector (see bottom picture), instead of the 3.0 that comes with the drive, that it is a workaround. Notice that the 3.0 connector has sort of a "dual head" nature to the construction. One part of it is 2.0 USB micro compatible. I've never tried it myself though.

  • Moved My Hard Drive Now Can Not Find iTunes Library

This is my first post, so I am hoping that I can find an answer to my question.
I recently purchased via eBay a Airport Extreme as I wanted to have my hard drive away from my MacBook.  Perviously the Hard Drive was connected with a USB and on that Hard Drive was all my Itunes Music, and it worked 100%.  Now that I have the Apple Airport Extreme, which is up and working I can not longer assess my iTunes.
I can see it when I look at the finder, and I have changed it to look at it in the peferance menu on the iTunes, but I think I have not done everything.  I have read about all the things that you can do, but they are all taking about "moving" or "backing up" the iTunes library, I have it in the right spot I can not piont the iTunes to it.
Can you please give me any advice. Please find below a screen shot of my Hard Drive, maybe I am not putting the right file up, the one that I have been picking is the one highlighted, iTunes.
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Can't mount external Hard drive and Can't change the ownership and permiss.

Hello everyone, got a problem and maybe someone here will know. Apple care can't help because this is due to an external piece. I have a hard drive external. I partitioned it into two hard drives. Long ago, I opened the information window for one of my partitioned drives. And changed the ownership and permission to "no access". I do this all the time to keep my files from being read if its not the administrator (me). Just recently I plugged in my hard drive (firewire and USB). Only one drive mounts on the desk top. I cannot see my other partitioned hard drive and I can' access it to change the ownership and permission with "apple key and I".. I can see a trace of the two partitioned hard drives when I use disc utility. But again it won't let me change the ownership so I can mount this again. How do I access my harddrive without refomatting? I have tried to mount this with both of my apple laptops..no luck yet. Please help, anyone.

Hi, Donnie. Welcome to the Discussions.
What part of "No Access" was unclear?
"No Access" means no access for anyone.
    To fix this:
    1. Launch Terminal, which resides in the Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities folder.
    2. At the Terminal prompt, type the following command:
    sudo chmod a+rwx "/Volumes/partition_name"
where: partition_name is the name of the affected partition.
    3. Press Return.
    4. Type your Admin password when prompted, then press Return.
    5. At the Terminal prompt, type exit and press Return.
    6. Quit (Command-Q) Terminal.
    7. Relaunch Finder: Press and hold the Option key, click and hold mouse button 1 on the Finder icon in the Dock, select "Relaunch" from the Finder icon's contextual menu.
You should then see the volume, or be able to use Disk Utility to Unmount it, then Mount it and see it.
Reset the permissions for Group and Other on the partition as desired. Do not change the permissions for Owner.
If you want a volume / partition unmounted at startup, see:

  • Hard drive issue, can not boot past disk utility

I got off work this morning and was wanting to do a clean install of osx10.10, unfortunately I did something bad, with my lack of sleep. I think I canceled the operation when I clicked cancel during the reinstall of OS X. Now I can not boot past the disk utility screen. There is also no sub menu under my listed hard drive "Macintosh HD." Is there a way I can fix this?
It's a brand new MBP, 15inch retina. I had it for only a week and I am at work right now. So if there is anything I can do from here that would be great!!
I also tried to reinstall OS X from the disk utility and when it asked to select disk to install OS X my only option was the recovery HD

Ok, I will try that. I still have my old MBP that I am supposed to be trading in. Good thing i haven't mailed it off yet.
I just reset the SMC and Pram and tried to boot in recovery. Once it downloaded everything online and i went to install OS X, it asked me to select and disk where i want to install. Well, there wasnt a disk listed at all...
So, now I will try to create a USB installer when i get home from work and try that out. I will keep you posted
    Thanks,

  • I have 2 external hard drives, but can not view photos from 1 hard drive in LR5 now. I used this hard drive in LR5 before, but now it does not show up. How do I get the hard drive to show up in LR5?

Any ideas on how to connect hard drive back into LR5?

    Hi:
Let's see if I can help you, help me.    Operating system is OS X, version 10.8.5.
The photos on hard drive (1) have never been removed from Lightroom (or have they?)They have not been removed from LR.
Could you explain why hard drive (1) stopped appearing in Lightroom, it must have been because you did something, otherwise the photos on hard drive (1) will still appear there.LR always worked great, until I had to upgrade my operating system to get LR5 to work.  Then it has been one problem after another.
So, once I ran into this problem and before we started to chat….I simply RE-imported all the photos from (1).  They came in fine, except none of their key words came along with them.  So my ability to find anything is "0".  It was bad enough to have to do the import all over, but the thought of having to re-tag 1000"s of images is overwhelming.
    Thanks for your patience.

  • I can not transfer files and data from macbook pro to my external hard drive, i can not transfer files and data from macbook pro to my external hard drive , so what should i do ?

i have an external hard disk but whenever i tried to transfer any file or data from macbook to this ext.disk its failed before that i used to have another hard drive with same problem ,then i thought may  be this hard drive is not support mac then i bought a new one which supports mac but still i have same problem what should i do ?

    Ok.
Go into Disk Utility, and make sure you select your external hard drive.
There should be 4 tabs, one being erase. I have taken a screenshot to show you what it should be set to (obviously name it what you like), and set the format to Mac OSX Extended (Journaled) as per the example below & after double checking your in the right drive, you can hit erase. And you're done! *hopefully*

  • I want to replace my Mac Pro, original Hard Drive but can not slide it out to replace.

I have copied my Original Hard drive and place a larger drive in a open slot in my Mac Pro, Now I want to take out the Original Drive, but the tray does not slide out.  Does any one know why? I got my Mac Pro June 2007.  It has two Optical drives and I have filled it with 3 internal Hard drives and 8 gig of memory. all this works and the new Hard drive works just fine, but now want to replace the Original Hard drive, and it will not slide out. any Help?

Make sure you set Startup Disk control panel to the drive you want.
Clone the drive to another drive and have a bootable backup.
    SuperDuper, etc to clone.
Repair the drive (from another drive or DVD) and repair permissions (maybe).
Disconnect externals just to rule out.
Ideal boot drive has just OS and applications.
    Limit login items.
Startup should be 30 seconds with WD Black 640GB and up.
Note: never mentioned what you planned to use, or how you cloned or setup the boot drive.
What matters is the drive is latest generation, probably 64MB cache (32MB also).
People use SSD 120GB or 10K 150-600GB WD VelociRaptor but most popular is WD Black 1TB probably.

  • I have installed a new hard drive but can not recover from the HP 2 recovery disks

    My computer: HP Pavilion dv9825nr
Windows Vista Home Premiu. SP 1
My old computer (I have a new HP  laptop) had a bad hard drive so I bought a new hard drive  - 488599-001, as recommended by HP.
When I try to restore using the diskds I bought from HP, I get an error: 0x400110020000100A.
Windows does not recognize the hard drive and I read somewhere tghat the Vista restore disks are problematic.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Good timing for expert day :-)

    Hi:
If you think you did something in the BIOS, just set it to its defaults, save and exit.
Here is what you need to do to make your own vista disk...
If you're up to a slight but rewarding challenge you can make your own if you can read your 25 character Vista product key on the PC.
Just download the 3 files you need at the link below, and read all of the instructions to create a bootable DVD installation disk using imageburn.
Disregard the part of the text under the first screen shot about "extract the files to the Vista folder."
The files were already extracted to that folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screen shot.
The other thing I noticed is on the 4th screen shot, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in myself, and then the other codes automatically populated.
When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message that about a WIM file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.
I selected No, make the ISO file.
It was not that hard to do. I burned both the 64 bit disk and the 32 bit disk in case I ever need them.
I tested both of them on my hp dc7100 CMT desktop PC, they worked perfectly.
When you enter the product key, it knows what version of Vista you have.
    http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/w/microsoft_os/3317.2-3-microsoft-windows-v....
After you successfully install Vista, you can then install the drivers from your PC's support and driver page.

  • Replaced hard drive - now can not install an OS - any ideas?

That's right. The iMac was given to me and the "giver" did not give me any CDs etc. (very old iMac).
Anyway, the hard drive was bad, so I replaced it along with 512 of RAM.
I am unable to install any OS because all my OS X versions are upgrades. I just want to see if the thing will work worth anything with OS X before I keep it.
    I bet I'm stuck aren't I?
    D.

If UR looking for original Cd's - check out your local "quokka' mag - you know, the one that has all the for sale items - furniture, whitegoods, computers etc - here in Perth Australia we have teh 'Quokka'. Anyway, try all the 'imacs for sale' contacts until you find either someone who has original CD's for sale - this could be someone who gets bulk intakes of 2nd hand computers - PC and/or Mac - often they get shipmetns of @nd hand computers form schools and the original software Cd's as well- you could pick up a bargain?!
What colour is your iMac?? Apple has a chart to distinguish it's computer series on its info base - I think (hang on and I'll go find it for U) ...... ah, here it is - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58669 - will help a little bit in differentiating between models.
Look, Mr Singitloud-in-the-shower, these G3 iMacs are great little beasts - I just love them - even at 55 - and today I've pulled my first one apart - but it's a scrap piece with the CDRW and HD already scavenged - but it's my learn-on machine - now I just need to find where on the web you can find reliable fix-it info so I can learn more repair ideas.

  • ThinkPad USB Keyboard with TrackPoint (55Y9053) driver issue (keys not working)

    Hello!
I bought this external keyboard yesterday for my Dell desktop running windows 7 (professional)  because I liked the thinkpad keyboard in my thinkpad t400. After plugging in to my desktop and installing the drivers that came in the CD, I noticed some keys (u, o, m, enter(return), l) were not working, i.e., nothing get displayed when I press those keys . When I tried installing it on thinkpad t400 running Windows 7 professional, the same non-working keys were displaying numbers instead of alphabet values.
Please note the keyboard is not 55Y9003 but the newer version 55Y9053. Also, note the trackpoint worked well including scrolling and all other keys were working. Interestingly, when I plugged this keyboard on Ubuntu machine (desktop and laptop), everything worked well without even installing any drivers.
I initially thought it was a hardware problem and got replacement from Amazon. Both the keyboards exhibit the same problem. Given the fact it works nicely on Ubuntu, I think this is a driver issue. I tried installing drivers from thinkpad site including versions 1.6 and 1.7.
I would appreciate if someone can help with the right drivers.
    Thank you,
    Vinai

  • My MacBook Pro 13 inch makes a clicking noise from the hard drive and can not start up in safe mode and normal. I then ran disk utility in recovery mode and disk utility shows no problems with the hard drive. What is the problem?

Please help me, I have a mid 2010 Mac book pro with a toshiba mk3266gsxf harddrive. It started making a clicking noise and then my computer crashed. I proceeded to boot in safe mode, but it doesn't work. When I ran disk utility in recovery mode, it showed no problem with my disk. Does any one know what the problem is?

Sounds like a mechanical problem with the drive and it ruined the sectors where the Macintosh HD partition (and OS X, and files and programs) reside, but not your Recovery HD partition.
If you held command option r while booting, that's Internet Recovery and it's loaded via the Internet, not via the Recovery HD partition on the boot drive, so that could mean the drive is dead mechanically or there is another issue.
In either case the drive will likely have to be replaced, it's a matter of what occured to where and the drive state if you can recover data or not. If you made recent backups then your fine.

  • ESATA/USB Secure Hard Drive is not recongized

    Hi all,
I got this cool external hard drive in my work and it have been workin great... until now.
I had it connected to my computer and then my wife turn that computer into hibernation (ohh no), and since that I can't get my computer (any computer) to recongize it. When I connect it I enter my pin and the LED turns green (static) but the computer do not recognize it, it does not even say "found new hardware" when connecting it to a computer (with or without entering pin)
Please help, can I recover my data?
    Best regards
    Per

    Hi,
I had the same problem a few weeks appart with two 500GB eSATA/USB Secure Hard Drives. I had safely disconnected the drive but I only physically disconnected it hours later.
After that, the disk wasn't recognized on any computer I tried it with (Windows or Linux, eSata or USB). After disconnecting the data cable, the led stayed green forever (usually it turns red a few seconds later).
I was able to make it work again by performing a complete reset (but of course everything was erased and I had to re-partition the drive).
Fortunately these drives are used for backups so I didn't lose any data. But it is worrying to know that we can't rely on it so much... It would be great to come up with a upgrade that would make the disk more robust for that kind of problems. I didn't find anything for this product on Lenovo's support website...
    Best regards,
    Nathalie
