Thinkpad X1 Carbon (3Gen) Battery Not Charging (plugged in not charging)

I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen3) Model 20BS touchscreen running Windows 7 64 bit. The battery is not charging -- it's in a perpetual state of "plugged in not charging" and even when plugged in, it’s losing appr 1 percent per day (down to 31%). This has happened a few times over the past 3-4 months since I got the machine, but I've managed to find things that "fixed" it (at least temporarily): - Resetting the power gauge worked once - Changing the custom battery charge threshold worked a few times - Plugging in the power cord at different stages of reboot seemed to fix it once (although not sure why / how) Based on previous thread posts, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Power Manager and then tried to run Battery Gauge Reset, but to no avail. And the reset only appears to run for about 30 sec before the system tray icon switches back to normal. Thanks in advance. Karl

Product No. dv6928us: Laptop is not running in Battery. Battery icon indicates, '0% available, Plugged in, not charging' even when the battery is inserted. But the laptop works fine in power mode.

Try updating The BIOS and then try it again. BIOS (latest): http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-62510-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&... If that fails to fix it, the battery will need replaced (if you want to) or ignored.

Aspire V3-771-6470, Windows 10: Installed new battery: 0% available (plugged in, not charging)

I have: Aspire V3-771-6470 with 500GB SSD, 16GB RAM, WINDOWS 10. Have had this laptop for about 3-4 years with no issues. But, the battery had seen better days. It lasting only 20-30 minutes. So, yesterday, installed brand new battery and charged fully. When I turned on laptop, battery meter shows "0% available (plugged in, not charging). I researched on internet and have tried several of the "quick fix" approaches with no luck. What happened? Please help. Thanks.

Battery problems. Plugged in, says charging, but is not actually charging

I have an HP TouchSmart tm2 (have had it for a few years now). Everything works fine (for the most part) except the battery. I have it plugged in but it says "0% available (plugged in, charging)" but it's not actually charging. It's been this way for a few days. I have taken out the battery and then put it back in, but nothing changes.
I know I am no longer under warranty, and since it works fine while it is plugged in, I am not about to spend a ton of money to have this problem fixed. It started (minorly) when I got the laptop back from HP (completely unrelated issue, while still under warranty) a little over a year ago. It wasn't big issue so I didn't worry about. It's just annoying now. I am just wondering if the battery needs replaced (and if so, how much is that going to run) or if it is a bigger issue that I will just have to live with because I'm not going to put a lot of money into this computer. I was hoping to be able to use this one at work and my old Dell at home (the Dell doesn't hold charge anymore and the battery costs more than the laptop is worth), since this one was still holding charge at the beginning of the week. Now it won't even charge. I have left it plugged in and off over night and there was no change in the battery percentage... frustrating, kind of makes me want to avoid HP from now on...

Shutdown
Remove battery
Connect AC
Startup
Open Device Manager
Click the plus (+) sign next to Batteries category, right-click All of the "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" listings, and select Uninstall In the "Confirm Device Uninstall" dialog box, click OK. (it’s ok if you only have 1 of these listings).
Click the plus (+) sign next to System Devices.
Right-click the “ACPI Fixed Features Button" and select Uninstall. In the "Confirm Device Uninstall" dialog box, click OK.
Shutdown
Disconnect AC
Insert battery
Connect AC
Startup

I am writing to inform you I have had my iPod for about 6 years now and it has slowly got to the stage where it no longer turns on. My iPod began freezing every now and then (for a few seconds now) and then this problem escalated to the stage where it began to freeze for days. I am now at the stage where it doesn't switch on at all, in fact everytime I try to switch on my iPod the following message appears on the screen, 'Please Wait, Very Little Battery' despite the fact that the iPod is currently being charged. I haven't used my iPod for months and was wondering if this promblem can be fixed or am I entitled to any upgrades.

Did you try to let it connected to USB for charging for a while before asking it anything. When the battery is deeply drained, it can occur that the iPod displays nothing for half an hour, just charging.
Also, make sure your PC gives sufficient power to the iPod for charging, I let mine once for six hours charging on my work's pc, and it didn't display "charged" message even after the 6H charge.
When an USB device is requiring more power than it can receive from the plug it is in, MacOSX advices it to user, It seems that Windows doesn't.

Using hp pavilion 15 and it says plugged in not charging for battery

hii am using hp pavilion 15 e053se with win 8 genuine. i m having problem with charging the battery. it says plugged in not charging. but in between it starts charging too..what should i do..??

Lenovo b570e "Plugged In, Not Charging"

Recently Bought the new laptop Lenovo B570e.
Few days back, the battery icon said "Plugged In, Not Charging"
After googling with the issue I found one fix that worked, it is as follows:
Disconnect AC
Shutdown
Remove battery
Connect AC
Startup
Under the Batteries category, right-click all of the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listings, and select Uninstall (it’s ok if you only have 1).
Shutdown
Disconnect AC
Insert battery
Connect AC
Startup
However, today i experienced the same problem and i went for the same fix as above, but it didnt work...
Please Suggest me a permanent solution for this problem!

G510 Plugged in, not charging

Hi,
I bought my G510 laptiop a few months ago.
It wasn't in use for the past month or so and the battery was completely drained when I turned it on.
However, when in Windows 7 (64-bit) the battery icon says: "Plugged in, not charging" and the battery is stuck at 0%.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Energy Management with no success. Also, in Energy Management under battery info it says "Battery Status: Bad".
Any suggestions?

Thank you for replying, I apologize for the delay in reply.
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with Plugged in not charging.
As you have mentioned even after the trouble shooting the issue remains the same, I would give you one more trouble shooting step, please perform and reply.
Please remove the external devices connected to the system, shutdown the system and remove the battery and adapter .
Press and hold the power button for 30seconds and connect the power adapter and battery and try to power on the system and check for the issue.

Charger plugged in, or out?

So I was just wondering..
When my MacBook is at my desk, is it best to continuously keep the charger in to maximize battery life or should I fully charge the MacBook and then take out the charger, pretty much drain the battery before I plug in the charger again?

Constantly charging and discharging the battery is not recommend for maximum battery life over an extended period of time. If anything you're going to rack up the charge cycles and deplete your battery even quicker.
The "rule of thumb" is to use your machine however you see fit, all portable/laptop batteries ultimately need to be replaced regardless of how they're used. Most batteries will usually last you about 3-years but your mileage will vary if you're a heavy user.
Regarding that "rule of thumb" on battery care, it's recommended to do a full discharge and recharge about once a month (if you're constantly keeping it plugged in). This called a "battery calibration." This is to ensure that the battery (chemicals inside it) are exercised to ensure you're getting an accurate reading and that the battery stays active.

IPad 1 no reaction on USB Connect - Charging Plug works

Please help me. My used iPad 1 i bought 1 week before is going crazy. When i connect my iPad 1 to my Mac or PC it shows no reaction and plays no sound. When i connect it to Charging Plug it will charge. The iPad is also not seen by iTunes in Revovery Mode. Any Ideas? - Thank you!

I got it repaired outside but after that also if I switch it off in the same situation it again happens and I have to take it for repair it has happened 3 times after that. Is it a inherent problem in iPhone that it uses battery even when switched off and if in that case battery drain out then refuse to get charged because this is the scenario i have experienced every time?

Apple told you it was unrepairable.... You had it serviced by an unauthorized party. It's now no longer eligible for out of warranty replacement by Apple.
There's really nothing else we can say about it. Find a competent 3rd party repair shop or buy a new one.

A135-S4527 Battery plugged in, not charging

There are 1000s of posts on the net but no solution is working. I'm summarizing the problem for those who are already frustrated by seeing solutions in the following order and did not work, so please do not provide any solution mentioned below 1. charger/cord/plug/outlet not working 2. battery dated non working 3. battery contacts unclean 4. restart / push power switch for 30 secs etc There are many where any of the above doesn't work as permanent solution. Sometimes it seems as working but it doesnt last for longer. Now stating the problem of mine specifically My battery was gone. I knew that when this started. The issue was, even if the AC Adapter is connected and the battery is ON and detected, it would always say x% remaining (Plugged in, not charging) - where x is < 100% . This message is so frustrating (even now I'm seeing this and I need to post before the battery gets discharged) Why would a AC Adapter not charge when it is connected and battery is charged less than 100%? Even if lets say a battery pack is not holding enough charge, it should attempt to continuously charge if the charge is less than 100% This has started when I upgraded the laptop Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 to Win 7. I've replaced the battery with a new one and only thing I can charge the battery is shut down and keep the laptop with battery connected with AC Adapter. Since last few days even the red charging LED has stopped showing up. I've found that the problem is related to "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method battery" Have perfomed all sorts of instructions as given but none works Funniest part is when this message is on and battery is not charging while AC Adapter is connected, it is still drawing power off the battery as the % goes down and it simply knocks off when battery is fully discharged, completely ignoring that the AC Adapter is connected (Yes, it is connected as you can see the icon with the pin) I'd stop here for some advise before this goes off again. HT1476 upgraded my IPOD 5 to iOS 7.0.2 and will not charge battery. when plugged in gives message "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this IPOD".

Just Upgraded my IPOD 5 to iOS 7.0.2 and it will not charge the battery anymore.
When I plug it in, it now gives the message "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this IPOD".
Anyone else have this issue after they upgraded the iOS system?

Plugged in not charging battery wont power laptop

my laptop is showing plugged in not charging the battery is at 46% constantly but if you unplug the power source the laptop instantly powers off and will not start up on battery power normaly if the battery is dead the power button will flash when you try to turn it on
done a battery test and come back ok
reinstalled the driver
laptop only a few months old
