  • HT1665 My iPhone 4 will not charge, but powers on when plugged in. Suggestions?

Yesterday, my phone charged just fine and now, it's as if my charger cable has become Google. As stated in the title, it doesn't charge, but after I turn it off and plug it in, my phone powers on normally. So, I'm hoping to get some suggestions as opposed to my last resort: Buying a brand new, over-priced charger that will stop working only after a month and a half just as my current one has.
I'm assuming that the problem is my charger cable because I've tested it on other iPhones and got the same result.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
Also, try a different charger, they are not that expensive.

    Welcome to the forum!
If the second battery is a *known good* example that charges in another machine, then the charging circuit on the motherboard has been damaged.

  • My mini ipad is not charging

My mini ipad came fully charged from the apple store yorkdale, my charge is down to 19% so I took charger from the box and plugged it into the wall and the other end into the ipad both ways, but not charging, tried powering down and up with power button, but not charging. What is the secret here?

Dont worry Sayurichaninu the only way of gett your ipad mini to charge is doing it on the computer. All you have to do is find a windows 7/8 computer (32 bit or 64 bit) and then copy and paste this into your browser.: http://event.asus.com/mb/2010/ai_charger/
Then you will need winrar. just copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
then click on the english 32bit or 64bit depending on what system bit you have. then click on the engish 32bit or 64 bit and it will start downloading. when it is finished go through the installation process. when that is finished go back the ai charger website and you should find a 'Download Now' button in blue on the page. click on that and when the download is finished, click on that. Then you should see a programe called 'Setup.exe' click on that. go through the process and then it will say you will need to restart your computer click on the small circle that says restart your computer and then click ok. wait for it to restart. and then pplug in your ipad mini into your computer with the usb cable from the charger plug and plug that into the computer and then put the micro charger into the slot on the ipad. and it should charge. it will take 3-5 hours
    hope this helps

4s will not charge until battery dead. Tried reset and powering off.

Inspect the charging port area for dirt/debris/fluff build-up that may be preventing a good connection and use a wooden toothpick, soft clean toothbrush, or a can of compressed air to clean it. Also look for bent or broken pins. Try another cable and/or charger block (be sure to always use a genuine Apple certified brand) in a known good outlet. If you're using a USB port, try another port. If you're using a hub, try a direct connection. If you're using a USB port in the front of a desktop computer, try one in the back. If all these fail, make an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar to have the device evaluated.

  • Thinkpad Yoga S1 not charging and stuck at 800mhz - even after servicing

After giving up and sending my Thinkpad in for service, it still (after being at the depot for two weeks!) still not fixed.
I have to admit, I am dissapointed with Lenovo's service so far, it is clear the technicians did little to no diagnostics at all to confirm the issue was fixed.
    My issue is as follows:
    1) The computer will run INDEFINITELY on the power adapter.  This is NOT a case of a faulty power adapter (occurs with two different adaptors) or a faulty power port (again, the machine will run until the cows come home on the adapter.
    2) The computer is stuck at 800mhz.  I can get it 'unstuck' as long as it is unplugged and I toggle the multicore option in BIOS.
    3) Once plugged in, the CPU will return and remain at 800mhz, even if it is unplugged, shutdown, rebooted, etc.
    4) The battery will not charge.  The laptop will run off battery power if the battery has power (came back from the depot at 99%, down to 90% now) but will not charge the battery at all, only maintain the level.  This is the case whether the computer is in Windows, or turned off.
This is Windows 8.1 by the way, so there is no option to set a charge level to maintain.  That being said, last time (before I sent it in) I drained it to < 50% and it still never charged, even when it hit 0% and the laptop stopped detecting the battery (but still ran off the ac adaptor).
The unit also had some ghosting on the LCD, and it took me a while to convince the techs to swap it out.  I think my mistake was I wiped the unit, and so they were too lazy (?!) to actually test it, since once you use the computer for 5 minutes it was very obvious (I offered to send pictures, as I documented the issue but they declined).  That issue has thankfully been resolved.
This is the first "post-IBM" Thinkpad I've owned, and I have to say between this and that abysmal clickpad I am not impressed.

I recently had this problem too with my Yoga S1 after a system driver update.  I noticed during the updates that I received a message that the BIOS update failed.  The message came and went very rapidly and the updates continued and completed with no problems.  Usually when a firmware update fails, nothing in the BIOS is really changed.  I turned the computer off and thought nothing of it.  The next time that I turned it on though I too had this problem.  After repeated pressings of the power switch and pressing the reset button it finally booted and seemed like all was good, until I did a reboot, and it started again.  After much more pressing buttons it finally did  boot again.  That's when I remembered the failed BIOS update.  I didn't trust the auto update program, so I went to Lenovo's site and dowloaded the latest firmware and attempted to update it manually.  When I ran the update program it failed again.  What I wound up doing was just keep trying.  After repeating the update program four or five times, it finally completed successfully.  I have no idea why it kept failing or why after many attempts it finally worked.  After the update finally worked the problem seems to have been resolved, at least it hasn't done it again,,,yet.  Hopefully this will give some others hope in that it can be resolved without sending it off if you can get it to get it to boot again.

  • Thinkpad X1 Carbon (3Gen) Battery Not Charging (plugged in not charging)

I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen3) Model 20BS touchscreen  running Windows 7 64 bit. The battery is not charging -- it's in a perpetual state of "plugged in not charging"  and even when plugged in, it’s losing appr 1 percent per day (down to 31%). This has happened a few times over the past 3-4 months since I got the machine, but I've managed to find things that "fixed" it (at least temporarily): - Resetting the power gauge worked once - Changing the custom battery charge threshold worked a few times - Plugging in the power cord at different stages of reboot seemed to fix it once (although not sure why / how) Based on previous thread posts, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Power Manager and then tried to run Battery Gauge Reset, but to no avail. And the reset only appears to run for about 30 sec before the system tray icon switches back to normal. Thanks in advance. Karl

  • IPhone 5 not charging and randomly powering down

I've had this phone since Christmas. This started about a week ago. I noticed that my phone was randomly shutting off, no matter what power level it was at. Then within the week it started not charging when plugged in. I've tried multiple lightning cables and power sources, with only my car charger remotely working (Verizon product). It will go up about 7% then stop. This morning I noticed when I turned it back on after one of it's random power offs, that the edges of the screen were flickering. I've tried rebooting it and restoring it and nothing has helped. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I going to have to pay for a new phone?

    You're welcome.

    @lagrit1023 ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums.  What you may have happening here is a problem with the power regulation on the motherboard or an issue with not enough amps  from the power supply.
Can you try the power supply on another notebook or have someplace you can take it to be checked?
The only other way to check this if you have already done the battery checks and so on is to get the system sent in for repair.  For this you will have to contact HP phone support.

  • AC adapter not charging battery or powering computer

    Hello:
The AC adapter is not charging my battery although the LED light becomes orange as if it is charging. In addition, it appears the computer is not recognizing the AC adapter at all. If I remove the battery and try to use the AC adapter, it does not power it (yet, the LED light becomes orange). So far I did three things:
I did PMU resetting but it did not help.
I tried to upgrade the batter (by going to Utilities > PowerBook G4 Battery Updater) but a message saying “Plug a 60W charger to the computer” popped up even though the charger was already plugged in, and the LED’s light was orange.
I transferred my battery to my brother’s Powerbook and plugged the same charger to his computer, it worked fine (it charged it).
My guess is the computer is not recognizing the AC adapter at all.

I just logged on to ask for help about this problem. I'm not really surprised to see that I'm not alone. I've been having problems with AC Adapters for over half a year. I had to return three of them because after a day or two they stopped working. Then I got fed up (and also a bit embarrassed) and stop returning them and just dealt with the fact that I cannot have a second, functioning AC Adapter. I should add that all these AC Adapters were not original Apple ones - they are from Deer Computer Co. Ltd. About a month ago the one functioning AC Adapter I have started acting up, so I took my laptop to the Apple Service and explained the problem. The guy checked the connection port and he told me everything was ok, he also said that I should buy the original Apple AC Adapter. I was a bit baffled since they sell the ones I purchased themselves. If you go into the store (which is an authorised store that sells exclusively Apple products here in Switzerland: http://dataquest.ch) and ask for an AC Adapter they will automatically give you this (cheaper) version, if you want the original, you have to ask for it specifically. Anyway, today I went and bought an Apple AC Adapter, and - it's not properly loading. It's green, then it flashes green and orange. I've had it plugged in for close to an hour now and it went from 0% to an impressive 9%. I'm getting very frustrated here. I just don't know what to do anymore. I have a feeling that very soon this AC Adapter will cease to function completely, just like the other ones I've had in the past six months. I spent more time, energy and money on AC Adapters than I possibly should have to!
