ThinkPad X230 - Test Instrument: "This device cannot find free resources that it can use (Code12)"
I am use an ExpressCard (http://www.home.agilent.com/en/pd-2053520-pn-M9045B/pcie-expresscard-adapter) to connect Lenovo notebook with instrument chassis (http://www.home.agilent.com/en/pd-1886666-pn-M9018A/18-slot-pxie-chassis).
I found that Lenovo notebook failed to enumerate with the instruments with error "This device cannot find free resources that it can use (Code12)" in device manager.
This never happened in Lenovo model ThinkPad X220 and models before that.
Other affected model: ThinkPad T430, T540p which all failed to enumerate.
Note: All notebooks are upgraded to latest BIOS.
You are going to need to move that card to another slot. That is definitely your problem. I had mine in the PCI-E X8 slot which then knocked my video card down to x8 as well. So this definitely takes up resources. Also you can use something like EVEREST of Sisoft Sandra and those will tell you what else is sharing with that card. You could have a difficult network card that is fighting with it as well. You may think that its onboard and that of course it would not fight, but it does.

Got the above error when i insert a firewire card with via chipset. I have update the firewire driver by picking a list of device driver from my computer and though it prompt me to restart but yet it still shows the yellow exclamation mark and next i update it through online, same thing it prompt me to restart which i did but sad to say it shows the yellow exclamation again
When i check under properties>general tab, it says the following Quote
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.
You need to restart your computer before the changes you made to this device will take effect.

As far as i know the irq in bios setup is all set as auto and the total there's 4 pci slot and only 1 that is using, so how can it be resources being used up??
Fyi i'm using Msi P35 neo3 mobo with vista ultimate sp1Under device manager> VIA OCHI Compliant IEEE 1394 host controller> right click it and choose update driver follow by choosing the option of search automatically for updated software (window would search your computer and the internet for the lastest driver software for your device)
Once done i reboot and next bingo.... the yellow exclamation was no longer there, infact it was quite wierd when i try updating online, as the very first time it doesn't work but wouldn't know why the second time it does -

I have been using Hyper-V to test parts of my deployments in sccm 2012 r2 for some time now, and yesterday, they would not complete. Turns out the error in the topic is what is causing it. See below for a screenshot in devmgmt of the error causing the machine
to be unable to access network resources.
of the solutions tried so far, I have rebooted, and uninstalled/reinstalled the Hyper-V role.
FBHi, this is a VM on a hyper-v host, so I doubt this is hardware related.
FB
Its not converted no, it's a bare metal deployment, but you may be right in that some drivers may have snuck in from the driver step in config manager. I will try that. Thank you.
FB
OK so what now??? Is it a fresh installed VM on Hyper-V? If yes how other hardware drivers can be installed there? Also the first entry "Batteries" should not be there in a fresh installed Hyper-V VM.

Hi I want to create a search form with drop down search criteria. This form should then search on the same site and display the search results. Is there HTML available for this? Or an oline site that I can use to build this form? I created a form in Jotform.com, but this form doesn't search the site, instead it sends me an e-mail. Do you have a solution for me? Thanks.

Is there any talk about adding a device to the ipad so that you can use it as camera like ipad2
Is there any talk about adding a device to the ipad so that you can use it as camera like ipad2
James-
As Jeanne mentioned, it can work as long as the added device is a camera, and you have the iPad Camera Connection Kit. The kit contains two adapters, one for an SD camera card and one that accepts a USB card adapter or cable from your camera.
With regard to your basic question, Deggie is correct. It does NOT work like a built-in camera, so you can't use it for video calls. You have to take pictures with the external camera and transfer them to the iPad.

Satellite L300-19Y: GPU issue - device cannot find enough free resoursces
I have an error message on my Display Adaper stating the following,
"The device cannot find enough free resoursces that it can use (code12).
If you want to this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on the system."
It is a Satellite L300-19Y with Mobile intel 4 series Graphics card. I have updated to the latest driver.
The screen is very fuzzy at present.
Please help with a solution if possible.Hi
I found your other thread:

You tried to install a ATI driver on this notebook.
I have no idea if this would affect the OS functionality but it seems that you get a error message while installing the Intel driver so maybe you have muddled up the OS installing some wrong drivers
Did you use the driver from Toshiba driver page?
If not do that!
You should firstly uninstall the driver in device manager and then should reboot the notebook.
After new reboot you should check if you could install the driver once again -
Driver install with PXI 8360 Error " This device cannot start - Code 10"

Solved!
Go to Solution.Hello Manu,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having so many issues with getting your Expresscard 8360 working on your Lenovo. I recommend that we first look into Device Manager in more details. You mentioned that there were question marks (?) on certain devices. This usually means that there are devices on your PC that do not have any associated hardware drivers. For the Expresscard 8360, the drivers should be native to the Windows system, so I am unsure if those "?" do belong to this portion of the system. We can test this out by removing the expresscard 8360 and see if the "?" are still present. These "?" can be from the internals of the PC or modules that you've attached. If you've restored your operating system recently, it could be from the peripherals of your computer in which case you will need to find and install the chipset drivers. This can also be from the modules that you in your chassis, assuming that you haven't installed the necessary drivers for them, in which case you can find them on the Driver CD you have.
The exclamation mark (!) in Device Manager usually signifies a problem with getting the hardware started/operational. From your earlier posts I believe that the "!" is related to the Error Code 10 that you are receiving. Assuming that the correct power sequence was performed, chassis then PC, this is representative of a BIOS compatibility issue. Essentially this is occuring because the BIOS of the motherboard is not correctly allocating the necessary resources to all the devices as it is supposed to. Since you already have the latest BIOS, I would recommend that you try using the MXI Express Compatibility Software, here ni.com/beta. This is something that National Instruments created in order to correct for the incorrect resource allocation of the PC. It is not a beta program, it is only on the site so that we can manage it more easily. I have seen Lenovo T60 laptops work with this software installed.
Let me know if this helps
Thanks

This device cannot start. (Code 10) Intel (R) 82566MM
Ok guys I hope someone can help me with this annoying issue. Just today I clicked "undock Computer" and had to reboot becaues of some funky error message. When the machine came back on the LAN connection would no longer connect. Now under the status it just has the following:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
Any ideas?
Message Edited by Riekal on 12-22-2008 09:58 PMCode 10 is a default error code that Device Manager generates when the operating system cannot determine which specific error code to return after an issue occurs.
Problem
The problem can range from hardware failure to software config.
Here is the MS article with further info on code 10 here.
Solution
Updating the Driver could solve the issue is some cases.
Visit Lenovo.com to download and install Ethernet latest driver.
Troubleshooting
If you have the factory install(if you haven't installed your own windows on unit), you should be able to access the recovery partition by pressing the blue ThinkVantage Button in the top left hand corner of the keyboard when the computer show the Thinkpad screen(when computer is first coming on) -> further info on accessing partition here.
Once in the recovery partition you can click "open browser" to attempt to connect to the internet there. The recovery partition has a completely different set of settings and drivers to use for the Ethernet device. If you can access the internet here than the problem is definitely with the software.
There is a "diagnose hardware" option on the left as well that allows you to run PCdoc to test hardware as well. -
Satellite Pro A10: New Atheros/Askey WLan card but 'This device cannot start' code 10
Hi there,
I have a Satellite Pro A10 and have purchased an internal mini pci wireless adapter. The following information is displayed on my card:
Askey WLL3070-D4(MOW)
Atheros AR5BRB-43
I installed the card, hooked up the ariel's and turned the laptop on...the switch at the front now lights up and windows xp finds the new ethernet adaptor. My problem is this...
No matter what driver i install (and ive tried every Askey/Atheros etc driver from the first 20+ pages of yahoo/google) the card installs fine but then in device manager has a yellow ! next to it and says This device cannot start (code 10)
I'm really stumped. I have some more ram coming in a few days at which point i shall be installng Vista which im hoping sorts my problems out but does anyone have any ideas?
I've yet to find a driver which specifically refers to the AR5BRB or the model number WLL3070-D4.
Does anyone have a location for a driver etc?
thank youHi
I use always this page for WLan driver update:
http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/
This is a Toshiba WLan driver portal and there you can find all necessary WLan drivers

Bootcamp bluetooth driver issue ("This device cannot start. (Code 10)")
Hi everyone,
I have a problem (re)pairing my Apple mighty mouse with Windows 7 under Bootcamp.
Initially I had my mouse working through updating the driver to the one from Apple as is described on various forums.
After rebooting my laptop the mouse didn’t connect anymore. So I tried to repeat updating the driver to the apple one. But this time it didn’t work.
I then updated the Bootcamp drivers from the OSX installation disc.
Then, when I checked the hardware, it showed:
Apple Built-in Bluetooth
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
Under these setting my computer still doesn’t detect my mouse under windows.
So I checked to see if I could update my drivers again. This time there were four instead of two:
Apple Broadcom Built-in Bluetooth version 3.1.0.1 [23-11-2009]
Apple Broadcom Built-in Bluetooth version 4.0.0.1 [27-4-2011]
Apple Built-in Bluetooth
Apple Built-in BluetoothDFU
First there were only the first two. Of these two, the first one worked for the first time I paired my mouse.
When I change the driver to any of the three other than the Apple Built-in Bluetooth, it says:
“Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device” with this error:
“This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
After trying this, the initially set driver (Apple Built-in Bluetooth) gives the same error. Resulting in having to reinstall all the drivers all over again.
Anyone encountered the same problem or at least the error of “This device cannot start. (Code 10)"?
Thanks. What kind of reinmstall did you perform? If you used the recovery media, then this will be pretty simple. Boot to the recovewry media again and this time select the Reinstall drivers and applications option. Find the audio driver on the list of available drivers, put a tick in the box to its left and then click on the install button in the lower right hand corner of the window. The driver will be installed. Your list will be different than the following one, but this is only an example.

I've tried enabling/disabling UAC.
I've run the drivers as an admin.
I've formatted a few times just to make sure no driver conflicts.
Also I've tested the card on another PC running XP sp3 works fine.
PCI slot works fine as well tested with an ethernet card.
You've tried about everything.
Did you try to disable any non essential onboard devices (HD Audio, LAN, additional SATA/IDE controller etc)?
What about installing XP on a spare dri've? -
