ThinkPad Yoga Digitizer Question

I learned that the digitizer with Helix cannot be used as an eraser, does the ThinkPad Yoga digitizer have the same problem? Thanks

  • Thinkpad Yoga: Digitizer only? Deactivate finger input

    Hi everybody,
quick question: my Thinkpad x201 Tablet provided the option to deactivate finger input, i.e. use only the digitizer, which I quite like when making presentations, as this way no accidential input occurs when resting your hand on the screen while writing.
I now bought a Thinkpad Yoga 2. Couldn't figure out yet how to deactivate finger input there. Any ideas? Any workarounds?
    Thanks a lot.

Okay guys, I just figured it out: finger input is automatically disabled as long as the digitizer is near the screeen. Quite fancy...

  • ThinkPad Yoga - Digitizer is not working

    Hello,
I just received my new shiny TPY (again). The first time I got it, the digitizer wasn't working. After a bit of research I realized that it probably was a hardware issue (No digitizer, pen or wacom device in device-manager). So I send it back.
The mainboard got replaced and today I have my machine back. It was all working fine including the digitizer.
But from one minute to the other it stopped working and I can't find any wacom or digitizer devices in the device-manager.
Now my first thought was, that the Windows updates messed something up, so I've done a rollback but it's still not working.
Am I doing something wrong or is it a hardware issue again?
    Thanks for advance.
    Robinhuett

Hello. It isn't a Hardware Problem. It seems to be a software problem after Windows 8.1 Update.
I have the same problem :-( When I start the PC it works perfect, until I used it as Tablet. After that the Digitizer Pen didn't work. So I reinstalled all drivers. After that the pen worked.. so I tested it again as Tablet, after that. the Digitizer Pen didn't work. Now I installed all drivers again but the Pen didn't worked.
It is a big problem at Lenovo, because Lenovo has problems with the pen software a long time. It is soooo sad because I love the Thinkpad Yoga but with this Problem the price isn't acceptable. So I am going to send it back and wait for the Surface Pro 3. Because Thinkpad stands for the perfect Business Notebook and now... Lenovo has with the digitizer pen more problems than all others. And this is very sad :-(

  • 20C0001HUS Thinkpad Yoga with digitizer?

Hi! I would like to buy this Thinkpad yoga model and I would like to know if the screen is digitizer enabled and it comes with the pen. What is the storage capacity on this model?
I asked various vendors from this site and everybody tells me something different...
    http://www.shopbot.ca/pp-lenovo-thinkpad-s1-yoga-i5-4300u-20c0001hus-lenovo-price-483964.html

So the majority of the vendors told me that the storage is 180Gb SSD and that the digitizer pen is not included. Anyway the screen is an fhd
1920 x 1080, so my question is... If I buy a pen somewhere willl I be able to use the digitizer stylus anyway?
    Thank you

  • Digitizer to fit in thinkpad yoga

    Hello,
I have one question, I'm planning to buy thinkpad yoga from online Netherlands... and I'm not sure whether the digitizer is included or not.... its not written anything on the list about digitizer while customizing the product.... does anybody know from where I can buy the correct wacom digitizer which can also fit in the holder of the thinkpad yoga...??? Thankss

the wacom digitiser should be bonded to the LCD, and does not come as a separate part.

  • Thinkpad Yoga w/ active digitizer

I've read that the 20cd0032us and 33us Thinkpad Yoga models are the only ones without an active digitizer.  However, this appears to be all that is for sale on Amazon and other places.  Any idea of where you can but a Thinkpad Yoga with an active digitizer??

I recently acquired a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga, fully loaded except for one thing.
I was told this unit was refurbished but actually had the active digitizer technology in it. Once the device arrived it had no pen and the slot where the pen is seems to be sealed shut, I attempted to check device manager and was greated with this:
    http://imgur.com/oJ7ChKR
So i went to best buy to test a Wacom Pen on it
It would register single "click" like presses, but it was choppy and dotted when drawing.
Tried drawing a 5 inch line. It wouldn't form solid, it was just a point every inch after a solid stroke
Since it registered input does it mean it's gonna work and just has to be calibrated or?
I only bought this laptop because I needed to be able to do graphic design on the go so it is worthless if it doesnt have the technology.
Please help, a very frustrated user.

  • Question about the whitelist and installing a Wireless AC card on a Thinkpad Yoga

    Hi,
So I'm looking at buying a Thinkpad Yoga, but the model I'm looking at doesn't have AC wireless.  I've read up a bit about FRUs and whitelists, and was just wondering if the same model wireless card with two different Lenovo parts numbers will be compatible with each other or if the bios will block it if I don't buy the specific Lenovo part number.

Yes, you install grub to sda (master boot record), and add the entry for Windows. In the step where you partition the harddrive, you can choose where to create it. Actually it may not be that much of a problem anymore, my boot is on the third partition, after ~15 GB. You can forget about the bootable flag when using grub, it does not care.

  • Thinkpad Yoga - screen wear when using the pen

I've been using penabled laptops for about 8 years now and bought a ThinkPad Yoga about 10 month ago.
The pen turned out to be disappointing - it's a lightweight job reminiscent of the pens they include with Samsung Note and like phablets rather tha a proper full size Wacom pen.
Just like other people I was also disappointed by the non removable plastic sheet protector on the screen in place of proper Gorilla glass screen cover.
But well, overall, apart from the awful touchpad, it was a decent laptop and I've been always happy with my previous Thinkpads, so I kept it.
Now, I'm using the pen a lot, incliding for scrolling. It turned out that the nib is not replaceable and that the plastic sheet protector on the screen is not hard enough to resist wear from the included pen - after 10 month of use it's pretty badly worn, especially in the scrolling area on the right.
I've never had this issue with my previous penabled tablets, even after 3-4 years of use, so I must say I'm rather disapponted at Lenovo selling this as a penabled laptop when the screen could not stand up to daily use with the included pen.
Does anyone else have this issue? Should I send it back to Lenovo to get the protective layer replaced while it's still under warranty?

I had this very problem with my Yoga S1 display screen. The anti-glare foil/protector became scratched by the digitizer pen. After reading a bunch of posts about removing this film layer, it looked easy enough, so I decided to JUST DO IT.  My steps:
I grabbed a sharp razor blade and started in the corner where the "Lenovo" logo is placed (bottom left). Very gently, I slid the blade edge under the film being careful not to dig, pry, or lift the blade any more than necessary -- just keep is as flat as possible and glide slowly about 1/2" or so making an equilateral triangle shape. The corner of the film will lift up losing its adherence and, in my case, I experienced zero damage.
I elected to continue sliding the blade along all four edges only 1/8" or so deep - just to make sure that the film was lifted across the entire perimeter. No problems whatsoever - smooth as silk.
I went back to the starting corner and slid the blade a little further (approx. an inch) so that there would be a triangular section large enough for my fingers to grab without cracking or breaking the film layer.
I began pulling from that corner slowly and gently making sure that my other hand was resting on the glass as a brace. Note that you should pull level with the screen not upward. I did not use a blow dryer and, as it turned out, it wasn't necessary.
When I got to the point  where one edge of the film was about at the center of the short width, I started pulling down that side until I reached the opposite corner.
I then continued pulling lengthwise working from edge to edge, then center, always keeping my other hand pressing lightly on the display screen glass (for leverage). If you want to avoid palm prints, wear a soft glove or put a microfiber cloth under your hand.
In no time at all, the entire sheet of film was removed in one piece - no cracks, breaks, or other problems.
There was no glue residue on the glass, so I just took a microfiber cloth and rubbed it to a gorgeous shine.
I fired up the laptop and was amazed at the extra clarity and color -- and NO SCRATCHES!
Is there additional glare? Yes, of course, but I just tilt the screen to avoid it as I do with all my other devices.
I started working with the digitizer pen and, thus far, I see no evidence that it will scratch the screen surface which, I have been advised, is gorilla glass.
This entire process took less than 15 minutes. It has taken me longer than that to write it up!
I would be happy to answer any questions if there are any. Good luck!

  • Need help with warranty service on ThinkPad Yoga

Sorry for the seemingly angry headline but I am quite irritated at this point. Around three weeks ago I lost one of the rubber feet off my Thinkpad Yoga 2. After looking on Amazon, the Lenovo store and on Ebay I tried to ask here for advice around two weeks ago but I still have not received an answer (I don't know if this forum is run by Lenovo mods or by a Lenovo "community" of some sorts). I saw a similar question for missing feet on the S1 but the OP had not received an answer either.
Yesterday another rubber foot came off so now both rubber feet on the back are missing thereby also partly blocking the air intake (I will glue it back on!). I therefore decided to call Lenovo to get some new ones. They put me through to IBM customer service which told me that it is not possible to buy rubber feet separately so in order to get two new rubber feet I have to buy a new base cover for the mere price of €80.50 which is just taking the piss out of people, especially when my laptop is 6 months old and still under warranty.
The rubber foot which came off yesterday was so badly glued that it was almost a joke! Since I bought a laptop which has **bleep**ty rubber feet I have to buy a new bottom cover for €80 in order to solve the problem? If that is not taking the piss out of your customers than please tell me what is?

  • ThinkPad Yoga - BitLocker- / TPM-problem

    Hi everybody,
I got a very strange problem which I was unable to solve yet:
My ThinkPad Yoga won't work with BitLocker.
After initiation of the "BitLocker system test", it boots to the blue "BitLocker screen" - still, the PIN which was set before is not accepted. After cancellation of the test, Windows 8 (Windows 8.1 Update 1) states that the test failed, because the TPM could not be written.
While doing some troubleshooting, I recognized that BIOS states the TPM being in "MFG Mode" (= manufacturing mode?); this might be caused by a motherboard change done by the Lenovo service approx. 1 month ago.
    My question is:
Does anybody know how to make the TPM leave "MFG mode" or any other solution to this problem?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    David

  • ThinkPad Yoga 14 - no stylus?

After the media event yesterday, I tried to determine if the new ThinkPad Yoga 14 will be available with a stylus and digitizer. It looks like it won't. So I won't be buying one.
Can anybody confirm or refute this?

Seems that's the case. Check out the User Guide:

  • Thinkpad Yoga and UP710E stylus, how do you make them work together?

So my work just got me a Thinkpad Yoga as per my request
I have confirmed that in the Device Manager I do see: "HID-compliant touch screen"
I have also gone out on my own and purchased the UP710E wacom stylus, as suggested at various points on this board and on other sites, as something that should work with the Yoga
I've also purchased Manga Studios as an art program that is supported on this device (it seems to run fine) and with the pen.
I turned on Manga Studios (and MSPaint for good measure), pressed pen to screen and... nothing.  Eraser to screen.. nothing.  Mouse?  Works fine.  Stylus that everything and everyone indicated should work?  Nope.
So.... what am I missing?  Is there a driver I should be looking at?  Everything should be up to date.. some in-between program I need to install?  Try this when the wind is blowing south by southwest?
    Help please?
    Solved!

    Thanks.
Here's how the support site describes your MTM:
    i5-4300U(2.9GHz), 4GB RAM, 500GB 5400rpm HD, 12.5in 1366x768 LCD, Intel HD Graphics,
Wireless Option, Bluetooth, UltraNav, Secure Chip, 8c Li-Poly, Win8.1 Pro 64
I'll defer to others who might know definitively, but it's my understanding that the 1366x768 LCDs are not Wacom digitizer-equipped, whereas the FHD panels are. That would be one possibility for what you're seeing.

  • Spare Stylus to Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga

    Hi Guys
I am using my new Thinkpad Yoga and I am happy so far.
Unfortunately I lost my pen/stylus a few days ago and of course, the tablet/ultrabook is useless or just a normal notebook without a stylus.
However, I failed to find a spare-stylus which fits in the case. Could you direct me to a webshop or something were I can buy one?
And, as it is related to this topic, do you know any other stylus which work with this tablet? The original one is fine but to work all day long with the normal stylus it is a bit to small / thin.
    Best regards

Other Wacom based tablet PC styluses should work but you might have to recalibrate the digitizer though.
You can check out the Wacom styluses that Fujitsu , Lenovo ,  and Samsung offer. Those all should work.
