Thinkvantage Access fails to launch

Question

Kindly requesting help on the Thinkvantage Access running XP on my T-60.
I had to restore my wireless Ethernet device driver a few times and updated my Thinkvantage Access program. Now the Thinkvantage Access will not run. Whe one clicks to run the program, the hour glass will appear for a minute or so and then the hour glass will simply disappear, and everything will be back to as if nothing has happened.I do have the icon at the bottom of the display and the menu  will appear when one clicks on it.  But one cannot select, launch or modify anything from the menu.
I have unistalled and installed Access a few times and could not fix the problem.
I do not know if it is related, but my Thinkvantage Productivy program will not work either. The program will install without erros but appears nowhere, not in the program group, not by the BLUE button.
I have updated my BIOS. Do not know if it matters.
Any assistance will be much appreciated....

Hi,
your situation seems to me like an OS issue, so I would surelly think about geting the system reinstalled. Of course first to make a full backup.
However, as first you can try following:
- uninstall Access Connection (AC)
* reboot the system
- check whether you can see the folder: C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities => if yes, then delete the "ConnectUtilities" folder, as it still may contain informations, that are damaging ant reducing the functionality of AC when you install it back
- go to registry : and check if following key exist:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Access Connections => if yes, then delete the "Access Connections"-key
Let me know, if this will make any change to your situation.
You know, the basic logic is, that once you delete and install it back, there must be something left on the system, that is making this applicaiton to not to react propperly.
Oh yes, and there is one more thing, that might be interresting to know:
once the AC will not start and you just see the "sand hour" go to %programfiles%\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities and try to run the applicaiton by double-clicking on the "Access Connections.exe". If the double-click on this file will make no change, then try to check if you have the file "ACMainGUI.exe" present in this folder and try to execute him.
