ThinkVantage Productivity Center T42 vs.X40

On my X40, the ThinkVantage Productivity Center allows you to update all Thinkpad software automatically.  This option is not available on the T42.  Does anyone have an idea of why?  This is a very usefull function as it allows you to be sure that you have the latest version of all available software for your computer

  • ThinkVantage Productivity Center will not open - T61, Windows XP

I cannot get the ThinkVantage Productivity Center to open; specifically Rescue and Recovery.
It has worked in the past and I have no idea what changed. Windows updates are automatically installed onto my computer. It appears that the relevant proceses are running (rrservice.exe and rrpservice.exe).
Is anyone aware of what could be causing this issue?

I have the same problem like you, the Productivity Center does not work and the Rescue and Recovery User interface does not appear while I check in Task Manager, it is running, but for a while, it disapears too. I don't know why, the Rescue and Recovery User Interface have worked before and now it has error. Is there anyone face with this problem, please help me fix this. Thanks.

Additional you can try the following (if Ron_9972 is finished with his steps):
Deactivate anti virus program (select "activate manual", if possible)
Start - Programs - Accessory -System programs - Systemrecovery (i hope it is right translated from german)
Select "restore a restorepoint" and select the last date, where it worked.

  • ThinkVantage Productivity Center - Display menu

Hi, I have a thinkpad T500 and have recently noticed that the ThinkVantage Productivity
Center's display menu doesn't seem to work in that when pressed nothing happens and
a sub-application is not involved as one would expect.
    In detail,
    - start-up the ThinkVantage Productivity Center (or press the blue button)
    - select the 'Device Configuration' item in the "Resouce Center"
    - select the 'Select display settings'
and wham nothing happens.  So my question is the following, what _is_ supposed to
happen and which ThinkVantage application am I missing to remedy this issue.  A friend
had told me, over the phone, that I'm supposed to see screen/LCD settings along with
    on-screen-display options, etc.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Your friend is correct.
"Choose Presentation or Display Screen" (also known as "Choose Display Scheme menu") is supposed to appear.
I don't konw why it does not work in your case, however.

  • Thinkvantage Productivity Center not working! 8^(

The Thinkvantage Productivity Center software on my T61 model 7658 CTO starts and then locks up.  So I cannot control the wireless.
This all started after I updated the Lenovo software.  It was caused by a Lenovo update.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
If it cannot be fixed is their a way to disable it and return control of the wireless connections to Windows XP?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Add "Switch Graphics" to Thinkvantage Productivity Center?

I am trying to customize the "Quick Links" in the Productivity Center. I want to add a link to switch the graphics. So I am wondering, what actual function is being performed when swtiching the graphics from the "Power Manager" battery meter icon. (i.e. right-click on battery meter>switchable graphics>[energy saving OR high performance]. What I'm asking is if there is an ".exe" that gets executed or a certain kind of command line entry.
Basically I'm looking for a way to use an EXE to switch the graphics so I can add it to the Productivity Center as a Quick Link. If it can be done in the command line then it can be programmed as a ".bat" and complied as a ".exe" and that would be a solution.
Any ideas would be helpful, thanks.

  • Bugs in the latest ThinkVantage Productivity Center update

    Hi,
last Friday I updated the Thinkvantage software on my T61 (WinXP). Beside fixing some problems it brought me new ones.
Foremost, now, as soon as I set my machine into the Lenovo Portreplicator (docking station), it simply goes POWER OFF. No message, no shut down, no nothing, just instant off.
In addition th power management software does not work anymore.
Trying to revert to the old SW version did not work.
Is this a know bug? what can I do?
    regards
       Florian

Bugs?  There's bugs in every bit of software written from day one except possibly the one-liner thing that types out, "Hello world."   That's why I wait a week or two after an update comes out, to let the dust settle and also review if it is something I really need.  I haven't decided I actually need an iTunes update since iTunes 7.5.
After updating did you repair permissions?  Did you verify your hard drive and repair permissions before updating?  Many "bugs" aren't really bugs but how a change suddenly makes something that is a budding issue on a computer (and each person has a unique configuration) suddenly come to the surface.

  • ThinkVantage Message Center confusion

    Hi,
If I install ThinkVantage Productivity Center here:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TVAN-PRDCTR
, do I still need to download and install the separate Message Center application here:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70055.html ?
The reason I'm asking is because after Productivity Center installation, there is already a Message Center window at the bottom of the Productivity Center interface. But when I search Lenovo, there is another Message Center that can be downloaded and installed.I.e. does the Productivity Center Message window still work without the separate Message Center installer?
Also, Lenovo informs that ThinkVantage Sytem Updates will no longer work here:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-72207.html
and we have to use Message Center Plus. Is this a stand alone application or does it need the separate Message center Installer discussed above also?

You probably need  to set IE 11 to compatibility mode, see details here http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-net-Email/Fix-for-Missing-Inbox-sent-folders-etc-with-Internet-...

  • How can I repair / reinstall my Productivity Center?

I posted this help request in a different thread on 11/14/09 and have not received any comment or reply. It seems that being a Lenovo product (at least, as far as I know) there should be many people in these forums, including people from Lenovo, who were familiar with the issue and could even point to a possible solution. I must admit I'm a bit puzzled, but still hopeful someone could kindly provide a hint.
Using T61p, WIndows Vista Home Premium, NIS 2010, Mozilla Firefox 3.5.5.
I never had any problems using this Lenovo software utility until very recently. I noticed that, after pressing the blue ThinkVantage button and accessing the utility's main menu, some of the tags will not work, starting by the very first one, "Welcome".
When I click on it, it opens a box that says: "This application requires Macromedia Flash Player Version 7 or newer" ,  and the only option it offers is a "OK" button.
Now, I understand  Macromedia Flash Player is the same as Adobe Flash Player. If this is the case, then the Flash Player I have installed is version 10, and it is installed in my system for several months.
What am I missing? And what can I do to have this utility repaired / reinstalled / working again?  Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks and regards.

Any good news to fix the problem?
If NO, Remove the software 'Productivity Center' and reinstall again !!!
(No pressing the blue ThinkVantage button, direct execution the software)
Thank you for your reply. I did that already. No luck. The problem seems to be just with one of the tags. When you open this utility by either pressing the ThinkVantage button or opening it directly, the black box presents you a number of options (I call them tags). One of this tags is "Welcome". When I click on this tag, a small window pops up with the following message:
"This application requires Macromedia Flash Player Version 7 or newer" .
And the only option it offers is to click an "OK" button. Nothing else. All other tags work perfectly.
Now, I have Flash Player 10 installed in my system and I'm at a loss to figure a way out of this problem. Is this a virus? Malware? I have NIS 10 installed and I run the Quick Scan daily, often a few times a day, and a weekly run of the full scan. Nothing pops up.
DID ANYONE EVER HAVE A PROBLEM SIMILAR TO THIS? DOES LENOVO HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY LENOVO PRODUCTIVITY CENTER?
I appologize if I sound rude. I'm just screaming for help!

  • Productivity Center failes to start

Productivity Center failes to start, the same dialog box appears twice with
    Title: "LPL1"
Mesage text: "An unsupported operation was attempted"
The issue started after I have changed Service startup 'ThinkPad PM Service' from Automatic to Manual. (the service is started anyway because OnScreenDisplay srevice which is dependant on the PM Service is set to Automatic start). This change helped me to avoid BSOD which started to happen after the recent Lenovo System Update (19.09.08). Basicallyboth issuesseems to me as a result of this System Update...
The message text is very undescriptive - Any ideas would be much appreciated!
     Thanks!

    Hi -
It's about 3 years since you wrote this, and unfortunately, no answer.   Maybe there isn't one from the experts at Lenovo?
I just had the same thing happen to me after having reinstalled Vista and downloaded all lenovo and msft updates.
Can't get the Productivity Center from the Start menu, nor from the blue Thinkvantage button on the keyboard.  It wouldn't seem important except that Password Manager has also quit since the updates download of about 6/20/2011.
    Oh well....

    Hi gardinerr,
I guess you are missing several other drivers since you mentioned that the buttons are "inactive".
You can download the ThinkVantage products from this link.
Either that or you can just download the ThinkVantage System Update via the link above then let the software auto detect what other missing drivers which you might have missed out on your T60p.

  • Newsgroup reorganization + New AL BPM Suite Product Center on Dev2Dev

    Hi,
As you've probably noticed, we've reorganized the BPM newsgroups a little - cutting down on the dozen or two that we had (aqualogic.business.service.*), leaving just five:
    aqualogic.bpm.general
    aqualogic.bpm.modeling (renamed old .project.development)
    aqualogic.bpm.runtime
    aqualogic.bpm.administration (renamed old .bpm.administration)
    aqualogic.bpm.development (renamed old .service.papi)
We hope this makes it easier for everyone to monitor and contribute. At the same time, we've created a new AquaLogic BPM Suite Product Center on Dev2Dev:
    http://dev2dev.bea.com/albpm/
    Regards,
    Jon
PS. Here's our intent for the newsgroups:
    * aqualogic.bpm.general
    - announcements, concepts, foundations
    * aqualogic.bpm.modeling
    - process modeling, simulation, importing models, modeling tips
    * aqualogic.bpm.runtime
    - performance, scalability, architecture, monitoring, J2EE
    * aqualogic.bpm.administration
    - installation, deployment, automation, configuration, directory[ALIP]
    * aqualogic.bpm.development
    - process management, version control, configuration

some newsgroups were renamed, others were archived.
the screenflows newsgroup (via NNTP) is not available anymore, you should refer to the new names if you want to access via NNTP.
People reading via RSS should not change anything since the URLs are based on the internal id and not by name.

  • ThinkVantage Productivity Centre/Password Manager for Windows 7 Beta?

Hi, i've noticed that there's no beta build of ThinkVantage Productivity Centre for Windows 7 Beta. Is Lenovo intending to release one?
But most important of all(my main question actually), is that can Password Manager be made available? I found it quite useful in Vista and would realy appreciate the availability of it for Windows 7 Beta

    Christian,
Try going to the Fingerprint Software Settings and check-mark the box that says "Use fingerprint scan instead of password when logging into Windows." This will allow you to use the finger scaner to log-in.  As far as saving user names and passwords, you will need to download the ThinkVantage Client Security Solution:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=migr-46391
Unfortunately Windows 7 is not yet supported.
Does anyone have a link to the beta ThinkVantage Client Security Solution for  Windows 7?
