    Hi scottiecargo, welcome to the forum,
    hate to disappoint you, but server OSes were never supported in SystemUpdate and neither IBM or Lenovo ever released drivers for server OSes for any ThinkPads.
    I know some people have installed server OSes on ThinkPads, searching here and at http://forum.thinkpads.com/ might produce some driver ideas for you.
    Good luck

  • ThinkVantage System Update -- An error occurred while gathering user information

    I receive this message after selecting "Get New Updates" in Version 3.14.0031 of this software.  I am running Windows XP SP3 on an X200 Thinkpad.  I have tried removing and reinstalling the program without success.

    1. Version 6.0.5717.35 is for the ThinkVantage Toolbox and the version I have installed now is 6.0.5802.25.  Is there a way to use Toolbox to do a System Update?
    2. The ThinkVantage System Update I have installed is at version 3.14.0034 with a build date of 2011-4-18.  The System Update installed this version itself and is showing as the current version.
    So I seem to be up-to-date on the software but am still getting the same error message "An error occurred while gathering user information"; when the progress bar is at 9%.
    Thanks, any help on this would be appreciated.

  • Error 77 with ThinkVantage System Update

    I haven't been able to use TV System Update on my T43 for sometime now.  After downloading ca. 20% (but it varies) of package information, it halts with "Error 77 received from the Package Index Server.  Please contact the Support Center."
    I have manually downloaded and installed  version 313-2008-3-13.  As part of installation, it looked like it uninstalled the previous version and removed the settings.  Despite this, I still get the same error.

    I have same issue. I bought a T60P with XP pro a year ago. I have since installed Vista Business and also a virtual pc with XP pro and with Vista as host. I have XP pro (virtual) setup on my home network. I am wireless (with printer wireless) and all works well. I am running NOD32 and Outpost Firewall Pro on virtual (2007). When I installed ThinkVantage System Update all went well till I got same message as you did. ThinkVantage System Update works ok with host, which is Vista, but not on virtual.

  • Windows 7 and Thinkvantage System Update

    The ThinkVantage System Update 3.14 page says:
          Currently the following operating system is NOT supported: Microsoft Windows 7 Beta
    This is much as I would expect, but what about Windows 7?
    Is there somewhere I can sign up to be notified when I can get back System Update?

    Hello,
    I recently installed win 7 ultimate on X200 and try to the system update 4 without much luck!!
    Installation went well, and after reboot, when executing the system update 4, the welcome page will come up and stays for like a min and then nothing happen, just quit.
    I looked into the system update folder under logs, there're 'tvsu_exe.txt" with no error, but another file "UACSdk.txt" has something like
    TSS(L) 0: 16:59:52:0168 vista.cpp(70): WTSGetActiveConsoleSessionId dwSessionId: 1
    TSS(L) 0: 16:59:52:0169 vista.cpp(74): WTSQueryUserToken failed!
    TSS(L) 0: 16:59:52:0169 vista.cpp(159): CreateProcessAsUser failed!
    I think these are the error causing the System Update fail to run, but how to fix it?
    From the product page, it only states the package requires Dotnet framework of 2.0, but windows 7 comes with 2.0 and 3.5 by default.
    Any clues?
    thanks

  • ThinkVantage System Update fails

    Hi
    I have a T61p with XP Pro.  I am not able to get any system updates for my machine through ThinkVantage System Update.  It says "An error occured while gathering user information." and then it fails.  I have no idea why it would say that.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    this might have multiple reasons, why this error is present. Here are only few, that I can think of:
    - registry entries with the MTM of your system information was changed, or is not present
    - the local TVSU repository was changed/damaged and therefore cannot read the the system info and the proces list correctly
    In your situation I would do following:
    - uninstall TVSU using Add/REmove programs
    * reboot the machine
    - go to %ProgramFiles%\Lenovo and make sure, that there is no folder called "System Update". If it exists, then delete it completely
    - go to registry:HKLM\Software\Lenovo and also make sure, that there is no key called "System Update". If it exists, then delete it
    - download an install the latest TVUS from lenovo. com
    * reboot the machine
    - test TVSU
    I assume, this should help as the error, that you are getting seems to be a system exception issue, where the applicaiton cannot reaco appropriately due to missconfiguration.
    However, with the above steps, this should be fixed.
    Anyway, please test it and let me know the results.
    Cheers

  • ThinkVantage System Update - "There are no applicable packages found for your system"

    QuestionWhen running TVSU, I am getting a system notification of "There are no applicable packages found for your system"
    AnswerThis issue has occured at various times, and may more commonly occur when TVSU updates itself.  At the time this article was originally written, the symptom was noted by some customers after updating from version 4.01.0010.
    After updating System Update, if no packages are found for your system, please try the following to uninstall and manually reinstall the current version of system update.
    Click Start
    Click Control Panel
    Click Programs and Features
    Select System Update
    Click Uninstall
    Reboot
    Download latest version of ThinkVantage System Update
    Install it and reboot
    Run ThinkVantage System Update and the list of updated drives will now populate correctly.

    There are a few comments here that have come in over 3 years...
    1) Please update to the latest version of TVSU appropriate for your version of operating system.  TVSU should update itself, but please check the reported version when TVSU starts up against the most recent version available to download on support.lenovo.com.  Uninstall, download the newer version, and re-install if it does not auto update and you have confirmed a newer version.
    2) From time to time, there are issues with the TVSU catalog and updates may not be reported as available for a specific system.  Lenovo software teams do their best to ensure the update catalog is current for all supported models, but in the event that you find no updates for your system and believe this is in error, please manually check several of the principle driver versions in device manager and compare with the versions available for manual download on the support site for your model.  If later versions of drivers and BIOS are available on the support site, but not made available through TVSU, then use this feedback link to notify the e-support team so they may investigate.
    http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/websitefeedback
    3) If you have recently changed the system board in your system, or service has changed the board, and TVSU can no longer find updates, or reports an error detecting your system, please reboot and press F1 to enter BIOS.  (Note, you may need to shut and restart to enter BIOS).  In BIOS, check that the system model type and serial number are correctly displayed.  These should match the type and serial numbers on the sticker on the bottom of your system.  TVSU identifies correct updates by checking these values in BIOS.   When a system board is replaced, there is a service proceedure to update the type and serial number values in BIOS to match that of the new system.  If these are shown as blank, this was not performed, and is the reason TVSU is not detecting updates.  Please contact Lenovo service if this is the case.

  • System Update Error while loading

    Having a problem with the ThinkVantage System Update Tool v3.14 running on T40 w/ XP SP2.
    When I launch the tool I get the following error:
    "A problem occurred while loading the System Update configuration settings. Please wait while System Update restarts."
    I click OK for the error and System Update restarts and gets the very same error.... over and over again until I kill the Tvsukernel.exe.
    I have uninstalled / reinstalled the app....yes with reboots in between.
    I have validated that I have the latest .Net version
    I get the same result if I launch System Update from Start Menu or within Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox.
    I'm not using a proxy.
    TVT Scheduler is running.

Think all support here is outsourced, which is why I'm grateful for this forum.

  • Wireless connection not working after installed newest Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update programs

    Hi, everyone!
    I've installed some newest programs through Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update and just after that my wireless connection has stopped working. Here are the installed programs:
    ThinkPad UltraNav Driver for Windows 32-bit version 15.0.24.0;
    ThinkPad Power Management Driver version 1.60;
    ThinkPad Modem Adapter version 7.80.8.0;
    ThinkPad Hotkey Features Integration Package Setup version 3.11.0001;
    Inter Wireless WiFi Link for Window XP version 13.02.0000;
    ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows XP version 5.62;
    ThinkPad Power Manager version 1.88;
    Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox (32-bit) version 6.0.5514.61.
    I've got a Lenovo T61 with Windows XP SP3.
    Also in Device Manager, there are now the two "Other devices" bellow with a yellow question point and a yellow exclamation point by side:
    Bluetooth Hands-free Audio;
    Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver.
    Does anyone have any idea what can be done to have these issues solved?
    P.S.: when I click Fn+F5 it shows only the Bluetooth Radio.

    Hello and welcome,
    I've seen something like this on XP machines after updates a couple of times now - my T61, a friend's T400, and his daughter's T61.  I guess that makes 3
    _Maybe_  your situation is the same.
    The fix in all 3 cases was to go to device manager and uninstall the wifi driver.  Then scan for hardware changes and let it reinstall the driver.  Something about how Access Connections or some other networking mangement thingy was hooking the drivers I guess.
    On both of the friend's machines, the wired networking was also b0rked.  Same fix there.

    Hi there,
    Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
    It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.

  • 2 ThinkVantage System Updates refuse to install

    Fired up the ThinkVantage System Update program yesterday and today and I keep getting the same two updates in the Optional updates tab, ThinkPad Power Manager and Lenovo AutoLock.  Selecting both and pressing Next goes through the download and installation process.  The first item supposedly installs whereas the second gives the following message:
    1 Package did not install
      Lenovo AutoLock
      Click here to install manually
    If I choose to install this manually I am told "This program requires Windows 7 or later." and install fails.  Regardless because of the first update I am prompted to restart my machine.  Doing so and firing up ThinkVantage System Update again shows that both updates are still available!  Checking the version of Power Manager it shows that it indeed has not been updated.  Any suggestions?

    No clue why it did not install through ThinkVantage System Update, but downloading the updates from the lenovo support site and installing them the old fashioned way worked.

  • Thinkvantage System Update Hot fix 1 did not install (v 1)

    hi
    This patch is pending on my thinkvantage system update software but it repeately fails to install,( I have even reinstalled Thinkvantage update software as well). Can some one please let me know of a workaround or a manual way to install the patch or even get the patch from the Lenovo site.
    I have vantage system update  Version: 3.14.0024 and Build date: 2009-6-12 on XP SP3.

    Same issue for me (T41, Win XP SP3), Hotfix for System Update does not install.
    I assume this hotfix should fix the issue that system update offers to install a hotkey package with a lower version number than the actual one installed ...
