Thinkvantage Toolbox Error on Edge 11

Whenever I activate Thinkvantage Toolbox to check system status of my EDGE 11, the error message always appears on my screen saying " DEVICE DISCOVERY ERROR, YOUR SYSTEM WAS BUSY PERFORMING OTHER TASKS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO COLLECT INFORMATION. IF THERE IS AN ERROR, RESTART APPLICATION OR IF PROBLEMS PERSIST, RESTART SYSTEM".
FYI my ThinkVantage Toolbox is currently version 6.0.5717.37 sitting on Win 7 Home basic OS.
can anyone assist to solve this problem? thanks

  • ThinkVantage Toolbox - Error when opening

    I took the ThinkVantage Toolbox update per the recommendation -- now, the Toolbox icon shows up in my toolbar -- but when I try to actually run the toolbox program, I get  the system error message: Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox has stopped working. 
    The toolbox program continues to operate behind the error dialog box until I click on the "close program" button.
    I can't fathom what is making it report that it has stopped working -- any ideas?

    since last update of thinkvantage toolbox on my T400s i cant run the sw, after every attempt toolbox at first loadsup and start check then it fail with errror and shutsdown

    Curious to know is your TVT at version 6.0.5802.24 ? If it is not, do update.
    if it is, kindly uninstall. set msconfig to diagnostic startup and install in this manner. set back to normal startup and test again.

  • ThinkVantage Toolbox error message remains

    I had a HDD error 3 months ago, thus changed the HDD and mirrored all data to it (including the files that had been in bad sectors). The next time I started the Toolbox System Check, it got a HDD error again. So I ran checkdisk and afterwards the toolbox again and everything went fine since then. I rechecked several times since then, no more problems appeared.
    However, the Toolbox keeps showing me error notifications because this one test 3 months ago went wrong, even though everything is fine since then. Anyone an idea how to fix it?

    Kindly uninstall the ThinkVantage Toolbox and reinstall it.
    The issue will resolve.

  • SL300 Thinkvantage Toolbox failure after Win7 upgrade

    Despite getting the latest version of this utility - 6.0.5449.31 (using Lenovos Update program installed on PC), the program reports that it has stopped running (after "checking status") and closes down.
    Have I missed something here? Surely a diagnostic program should be able to check things without crashing itself.............???
    Anybody got this running on Windows 7?

  • RTC Accuracy Test error reported by Lenovo's ThinkVantage Toolbox 'Quick Hardware Check'

    When I run Quick Hardware Check on my T500 using the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox, a RTC Accuracy Test error is reported.  Do I need to care about this error and how do I fix it?  Thanks.

    judging from that error, looks like the CMOS battery that makes sure that the internal clock is dead.

  • Error: WHD20-RV7 - Thinkvantage toolbox

    Everytime the thinkvantage toolbox runs a hardware check, it keeps failing the "targeted read test", and gives me error WHD20-RV7...i have no idea what this is, what it means, or how to fix it...
    is it fixable? can i do it myself? how would i go about doing it? thanks

    Hello mate,
    This means you've got bad sectors in your HDD. Try to run a checkdisk under windows with an attempt to recover bad sectors. Turn off your computer and retry to check with the Toolbox.

  • Thinkvantage Toolbox Reports Battery Not Installed

    Hi All,
    I'm having a problem with ThinkVantage Toolbox. I keep getting an error that my battery is not installed even though Lenovo power manager 3 shows it as installed and in good condition. I've run all updates from system update 4 but it didn't resolve the issue. I've tried removing and reinstalling all Lenovo Thinkvantage tools but that didn't help either. I did replace the battery about a year ago through IBM but this issue didn't start happening until a month or so ago.

    I've not heard about LTT not seeing the battery, so reinstalling it might be worth a try...
    This KB article might generically address what to do if the battery was not longer seen by the system, but not sure it would help since you indicate that power manager already sees the battery.

  • ThinkVantage Toolbox - Update fails

    Laptop = T61
    OS = WinXP Pro SP3
    ThinkVantage Toolbox v6.0.5514.61
    Automatic updates is on - when it runs unattended, I get the following error msg in an untitled Windows dialog box:
    "The system cannot find the file specified.  (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)"
    Windows Task Manager shows that the program "pcdrcui.exe" is running (v6.0.5514.59).  I have to manually terminate it.
    Anyone know what's going on and how to resolve?

    After doing some search on Google, the error which you are receiving could be caused by .Net, Could you try uninstalling the .Net then reinstall it again and see if it helps.

  • ThinkVantage Toolbox does not run after BIOS update

    Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update Tool on my T410 ThinkPad (2518EWG) offered me download and installation of ThinkPad BIOS Update Utility US version 1.28-1.11.
    Since then,  whenever I try to run Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox I receive a message: „This version of Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox is not licensed to run on this system“.
    I notice that the ThinkVantage Toolbox still shows the old BIOS No. 6IET49WW (1.09), while the updated BIOS is 6IET68WW (1.28).
    Any comprehensible instruction how to solve the problem for a computer layman will be much appreciated. Thanks - Jan

    I have at least found out why this happened, the program obtained from Toshiba automatically 'attempts' to upgrade the BIOS upon activation. This means that the program engaged with errors without my authorisation. I don't find this very impressive from a company as large and powerful as Toshiba.
    Also it may be possible to fix myself if the BIOS installation instructions made sense, extracting the .zip file does not create three sub folders and pressing the F12 key does not start the laptop.

  • Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox 6.0.5514.61 "has encountered a problem and needs to close."

    Popup Error Message after launching Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox from the toolbar:
    "Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost."
    The options presented are "Debug" and "Close". If I don't hit close, LTT keeps running.
    From the Event Log:
    "The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( PC-Doctor ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: (4060) Asapi: (09:23:49:8990)(4060) DEFECT.LOCALIZATION - Error -- Missing String: scriptlets : button1 locale: PCDLocale: language = en, customer = lenovo, variant = ltt"
    I am running the latest version, but this was happening with the prior version as well.

    Hi,
    this sounds to me like a corrupt registry, or unregistered library files of the Toolbox aplication.
    Coul you please test the latest version, that can be downloaded from following link:
    http://web.lenovothinkvantagetoolbox.com/index.html#top
    This is the version "6.0.5551.02"
    Let me know, if this changes anything.

    Hi, I have a ThinkStation E30 with the ThinkVantage Toolbox...under "system history" I occassionally see warning application errors (application 3 or application 7 is all it says). 
    Can anyone tell me what these application errors all mean or point mean in the direction of a listing for the various errors?

    thinkvantage toolbox was replaced with lenovo solution center.   the errors you're seeing are likely due to the lack of support.   the best recourse would be to upgrade from LTT to LSC.

    Hi,
    I have some trouble with the newest ThinkVantage Toolbox for Win 7 64 bit. I install it, I launch it and right then it just crashes. Anybody else experiencing something similar? Any solution yet or do I have to wait for the next update?

  • ThinkVantage toolbox not responding

    Hi to all,
    My thinkvantage toolbox have a very weird error. It opens just fine however if i were to click the setting at the thinkvantage toolbox at the upper right hand corner it will stop responding.
    Even at schedule hardware check, when i click setting it will stop responding too.
    I have tried reinstalling however doesn't work.

  • ThinkVantage Toolbox won't run on X61s, Win7 x64

    I booted my X61s today after not running it for 2-3 months.  It gave me an error right after the Toolbox splash screen:  "ThinkVantage Toolbox has stopped working."  It keeps popping up every 5 minutes or so.  I've updated my ThinkVantage technology drivers to the latest rev. but to no effect.  Any suggestions?  Below is the detail of the error.  Thanks.
