Thinkvision Pro2840m flickering at 3840x2160 60Hz

I have just installed a Pro2840m display on a brand-new Dell T5810 workstation (with AMD W5100 graphics card), and the Pro2840 display flickers really badly when setting to the resolution recommended by Windows (3840x2160 @ 60Hz).
The flicker goes away if I reduce the refresh rate to 30Hz.
The monitor is running microcode TN3.01.  Windows drivers are up to date (AMD 14.301.1010), and system is running Windows 8.1, with 8GB memory
Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to the Lenovo community. Out of experience I would suggest you connect only the (or one) Pro2840m to your W5100 using the supplied DP cable (by Lenovo) to test whether the fault is with the Lenovo. Obviously don't forget to be running the latest ISV certified drivers published for the particular software you are planning to use found here.
As a side note: I wonder when was your display purchased, because microcode LN3.01 was the very first version these displays were shipped with in June 2014. The latest version which I have heard of for the Pro2840m was at LN3.07 which has addressed a list of serious issues (see here or here for examples). Sadly firmwares for these displays are not released to public, for upgrading your firmware you will have to contact Lenovo support and request an RMA.
Don't forget to post back your findings so we all can benefit.

  • M6-n012dx HDMI out to 3840x2160 60hz?

    I recently bought a new 4k television and trying to output the PC display as 3840x2160 at 60hz, but capped at 30hz. Is this a hardware limitation of the Intel 4600 chipset, or should I be able to output at 60hz? I can't seem to find if the HDMI port on this laptop supports HDMI 1.4 on any documentation.

    I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY m6-n012dx Notebook and concerns with the limits of the HDMI v1.4 output. Here is a link to your manual page 3. Your Notebook supports HDMI v1.4 supporting up to 1920×1080 @ 60Hz. Hope this addresses your concerns. Thanks.

  • Lenovo ThinkVision Pro2840m 4k drivers corrupt

    I have just purchased a Lenovo ThinkVision Pro2840m 4k and have been setting it up.
    The instructions clearly state that drivers are requried to be installed so that the monitor can be used but when I download them from the Lenovo website I get:
    The file it downloads is 16K, the website shows it should be 58.6KB
    I've tried on multiple networks on Windows and Android and always get the same result
    Can anyone help, the support desk is now closed for the weekend

    Same here - they have still not solved this problem after a month!
    I called the support, and they said it would probably take a WEEK to fix this simple problem!
    I have serached the Internet high and low after this driver, but I cannot find it anywhere else.
    It is very irritating buying a monitor, get a link from the instructions in the box that directs to a driver that does not work.
    In the manual (downloadable) it gives the same link, and states that one MUST install it to make it work. Crap!

  • No 3840x2160 option on R9-280X

    I've been using the MSI R9-280X 3G Gaming for almost 2 years with 1920x1200 res.
    I just bought a Samsung UHD monitor (UHD590) and connected it to the gfx card with a DPv1.2a cable.
    However despite reinstalling the AMD drivers (15.4beta), I can only see up to 2560x1440 in the display options (desktop properties) on my Windows8.1
    CCC Panel Info shows max res 3840x2160, but the drop down to choose resolution just doesn't have that option.
    I'm pretty sure the card supports UHD, but what do I need to do to change the resolution to 3840x2160@60hz ?

    yes it supports that but its may not be reporting that as its a manual setting for compatibility in the screans GUI for use with older cards that do not support 4K! (Please Just have a look for it)
    just go into your 4k panels settings and see if its set at 3840x2160 (it reports its resolution) its like that for a reason for old cards that cannot output 4K for compatibility to overide the auto detection of 4k so you actually have to set it up in the panel as a card that cannot output 4k will just black screen and may need a recovery so they default it lower eg 2560x1440!
    turn off the power to the screen and turn it back on and see if it pops up a set resolution box and chose the supported resolution there! if not search the menu's for it!

  • W530 w/ Series 3 Dock - Driving Three 4K Monitors

    Hey All,
    Interesting question for you... My normal monitor configuration on my desktop machine is 3 Monitors in landscape + 1 in portrait. I am considering upgrading my 3 landscape monitors to either 2560x1440 screens or 4k.
    I use a W530 with a Series 3 Dock for work and would like to be able to connect it to my home setup. I am pretty positive that I could drive the 2560x1440 screens since I already drive three 1920x1200 screens at work via the two DPs on the Dock plus the one on Mini-DP on the laptop.
    My question though is if it will run 4K screens in the same configuration? I know that it will have to be ran at 30hz but will it be able to drive that quanity? The W530 is equipped with a K2000 in case that matters.

    The W530 should be able to drive 3840x2160 at a full 60Hz:
    "Maximum external resolution: 3840x2160@60Hz (DisplayPort via optional Mini DP cable);
    1920x1200@60Hz (single-link DVI-I via optional Mini DP cable); 2048x1536@85Hz (VGA)"

  • Dell P2715Q Issues after 1 month

    I got my P2715Q about a month ago from B&H Photo. It was working fine till the other day. First it wouldn't come on when I booted the PC until I pulled the power cord. Then today, I waited till the PC started to boot and instead of my desktop I got a series of vertical lines. My other monitors were working just fine. Using my second monitor, I rebooted the PC and got the same thing. A pull of the power cord brought the desktop back. I have also seen occasional artifacts in some windows / apps but they go away if I close and reopen the window / app. Since the other monitors are working I am thinking it is either the mDP on the graphics card or the cable or the monitor.

    Running at native 3840x2160, 60Hz

    "It was working fine till the other day."
    Was it working fine on the un-tested Windows 10 the entire time? Or was it working fine using Windows 8.1 and then you upgraded to Windows 10? The reason I ask is because we have not validated Windows 10. We do not have any drivers for it so we can only assume that you are using the Windows 8.1 64bit driver and Windows 8.1 64bit Dell DDM application in Windows 10?
    I also do not see a certified Windows 10 driver from nvidia for the GTX690? I only found a "beta" driver.
    We need you to move the P2715Q to a computer running a supported operating system and re-test.

  • C30 and Samsung SyncMaster 2243BW in VGA

    Hi,
    I got a C30 and a Samsung SyncMaster 2243BW, i use VGA to connect the screen.
    I got the message on my screen :
    Not optimum mode. Recommended 1680x1050 60Hz Analogic (the image is from internet but it the same.
    I use an adaptateur DVI VGA and a VGA cable
    I have on the samsung an DVI-D • VGA input.
    I need to buy an new cable to avoid this screen ?
    Thanks

    OK, so you have a C30 with a K4000 card (not the embedded solutions you mentioned earlier).
    Here are the resolution specs for the K4000:
    Max DP 1.2 resolution = 3840x2160 @60Hz
    Max DVI-I dual link resolution = 2560x1600 @60Hz
    Max DVI-I single link resolution = 1920x1200 @60Hz
    Max VGA resolution = 2048x1536 @ 85Hz
    All of these resolutions exceed the recommended resolution of your display, so you should be able to drive your display at the max recommended resolution.  If it's not doing it automatically, I would say there is something in your cabling between the display and the graphics card that's causing the issue.
    I'd recommend directly connecting the display with a good quality cable using no dongles/converters if possible.  If you must use a dongle/converter, I'd recommend making sure the specs of that dongle line up with the resolution you're trying to achieve.

  • T540P External Monitors

    Hi,
    This question is about the Lenovo T540P laptop (with HD Graphics 4600 ).
    1. I would like to know if its possible to connect two external monitors to the laptop (using mini Display Port and vga ports together) - resulting in 3 active screens (laptop screen + 2 external monitors) while using Extend Mode ?
    2. What is the max resolution's for the mini DP and VGA ports for external monitors?
    I've search your forums and looked up using Google but i couldn't find any answers
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Here's what the tabook has to say:
    Intel HD Graphics 4600 in processor only, or Intel HD Graphics 4600 in processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M, PCI Express x8, 1GB memory, NVIDIA Optimus technology; supports external analog monitor via VGA and digital monitor via Mini DisplayPort; supports three independent displays; Max resolution: 1920x1200@60Hz (VGA); 3840x2160@60Hz (DP via mDP cable)
    I don't have a similar machine so I can't verify beyond what I read here.

  • Problems with 4K 60z in Mini DP

    Hi~
    I have a Mac mini (Late 2014,Intel iris 5100 Graphics) which supports display in 4K, and a 4K display.
    But unfortunately it is at 3840x2160 30hz with mini displayport 1.2 plugged in.
    My MacBook Pro (Retina, Late 2013) can work  at 3840x2160 60hz with MST enabled as the Apple Support Document mentioned(Using 4K displays and Ultra HD TVs with Mac computers - Apple Support).
    So I search the Internet and I found that there's no hardware limitation in iris 5100, which means iris 5100 can enable MST and output at 60hz.
    Is there a way to force enable MST on Macs with iris 5100 Graphics?

    Not that I know of. Apple only say 4K at 30Hz.

  • Apple support displayport 1.2?

    Is Apple planning to support displayport 1.2 anytime soon?
    Apple used to be pretty quick in supporting the latest technologies.
    However there have been quad HD (3840x2160@60Hz) displays around for a few years now.
    But apparently Apple hardware still does not support it.
    On the contrary, it's selling their latest 2560x1440 thunderbolt displays as
    "You’ve never seen a display quite like this. With built-in Thunderbolt technology, it doesn’t just give you more pixels."
    Really? In fact I'm looking to REPLACE my almost 10y old a Dell 30' screen (3' bigger than that TB display) that has 2560x1600 (160 pixels higher)

    It appears that my lenovo laptop has the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000, which does not support displayport 1.2; it only supports 1.1a.
    For the mac, it has thunderbolt 1, which does not support 1.2 displayport. The new thunderbolt 2 connector does support displayport 1.2

  • NI9411 wrong frequency measurement of flow sensors / 24 impulse signals

    Hello Ni Forum,
    I already searched for similar problems, but haven't found anything helpful. So I'm posting our problem here. I'm apologizing in advance for bad english, it's not my mother tongue
    We're encountering some strange behaviour of our NI9411 Module. We're using it in a Compact Rio with some other modules (2x Analog In).
    Our goal is to measure the frequency of three flow sensors (impulse high = 24V, 0-22kHz) among with a torque sensor (TTL 5V, 30-60kHz) and a speed sensor (TTL 5V, 0-51,2kHz).
    They are wired as follows:
    DI0a = torque sensor
    DI1a = flow sensor 1
    DI2a = speed sensor channel A
    DI3a = speed sensor channel B
    DI4a = flow sensor 2
    DI5a = flow sensor 3
    Correspondig ports b are left unconnected, as it is said in the data sheet. All ground ports of sensors are connected to COM port of 9411. The module was connected to a 24V power supply.
    Now the torque and speed sensor measurement works fine. But measuring the signals of the flow sensors seems to be difficult.
    If an external frequency generator (impulse high about 9V, f=1,000kHz) is connected to port DI1a instead of the sensor signal, LabView shows exactly 1,000kHz. DI5a showed an avarage of 10 Hz, with a range from 10 to 60 Hz. DI4a equaled constant zero. The flickering up to 60Hz of DI5a was gone after disconnecting the 24V supply of the module. This changed nothing on the phenomenon described below.
    If the signal high impulse voltage is raised, the measured signal frequency goes up to 1300 Hz @ 24V signal high impulse voltage. The signal additionally raises, if an oscilloscope is connected to DI1a, to 2180 Hz (range 2110 to 2240Hz). However, there is no change of frequency if the osci is connected to DI5a. With the 24V supply connected, DI5a showed a frequency up to 600Hz @ 24V signal high impulse voltage on DI1a, also rising when connecting the osci on DI1a. As mentioned, there was no frequency measured on DI5a after disconnecting the 24V power supply.
    The signals of the generator showed some peaks on each edge (rising and falling) with values for example of 11V above high impuls voltage of 9V (20V together). That may causes that wrong frequency measurement.
    The signals of the flow sensors do not have such peaks, the LabView-frequency nevertheless does not match the real frequency, as shown below (all values in Hz):
    LabView

    We're kind of helpless now. How can we get the signals of the flow sensors measured the right way? Are we doing something essentially wrong? Thanks in advance for offered help. I hope, I've given any necessary information. Any missing details will of course be delivered.
    Puls-Measure-VI is attached beneath.

    Dear Lynn,
    thank you for your reply. The impedance was an issue that our local technical distributor already suggested to check. According to the datasheet of the flow sensor (see attachement) it can drive a current of 25mA. The signal generator we used is a test generator that can be used instead of the flow sensors to check the any evaluation unit the sensor is connected with. So it should generate signals that are equal to those the sensor would have generated. And even with this the frequencies measured with LabVIEW are not as expected.
    We are in contact with the sensor manufacturer to exclude mistakes in connection on the sensor side. But the behavior with the signal generator makes us think that is has to do something with the characteristics of the NI9411 that we don't know yet.

    so far both the current GTX 900 series cards made by MSI being the 970 and 980 both have HDMI 2.0 interfaces and any information on Web pages regarding it should be ignored as its a mistake.
    they output at HDMI 2.0 spec of 3840x2160 @ 60Hz so long as your Monitor can support the HDMI 2.0 standard.

  • Toshiba 58L9363DF - 4k@60 and HDMI 2.0 Firmware

    Hi,
    I have a 58L9363DF with the last firmware which says:
    SW-version: 7.11.80.35.05.1 - 0211:
    This version supports input signals with 3840x2160@60Hz via HDMI ("HDMI2.0").
    Unpack both files on an empty USB stick, unplug the power cable, insert USB stick to the TV and power on the set.
    Updates will be detected and run through consecutively.
    And I can't get 4k@60 running :'(
    I have an Android RK3288 TV Box with HDMI 2.0 output and I just tried with my new PC with GeForce GTX 970 also with HDMI 2.0 (which is working 4K@60 on others HDMI2 4k TVs like the Samsun Ones)
    And the max resolution is always 4K@30
    I tried with the 4 HDMI inputs :'(
    Do you know more about this update?
    Is every port supported?
    Is the TV really give the info that 4k60 is supported?
    Do you have any evidence of a 4K60 running on this TV and with which device?
    Thx

    Had it working with the GTX 970 !!!
    The 60Hz mode was a bit hidden in the control settings (in the "PC" sections of the video modes, not "UHD" section)
