Thinner red line at top of timeline

hi folks, have followed the thread on sequence settings and matching to source files...but, having a similar problem here and can't figure it out. My source footage is 1920x1080 24p (the source footage doesn't say whether it is progressive or interlaced -I assume it is "p" by the 24p). When I import the footage into FCP and check clip settings it says compressor Photo -JPEG. I create a sequence using HDTV 1080i (16:9) to get 1920x1080 frame, pixel aspect ratio Square and Compressor Photo -JPEG and editing timebase of 23.98. The frame looks perfect. I place the video on the timeline and I get a thinner red line at top of timeline (thinner that the usual Needs Rendering bar). I hit Option+R to render and the clip is instantaneously rendered (<1 sec) and plays fine on the timeline and in the Canvas. Is there something else to look for that might be causing the red line or is something incompatible somewhere else? Thank you.

The frame looks perfect. I place the video on the timeline and I get a thinner red line at top of timeline (thinner that the usual Needs Rendering bar).< </div>
Indicates the frames are duplicate, they've been used elsewhere in the sequence. You can turn off this indication in a pref settings someplace.

  • What does a red line at top of the audio waveform mean?

    Hi everyone.
I'm new, more or less to the imovie forum.
I have imported a video clip into imovie, and there is a long red line on top of where the audio waveform should be. Does this mean that the audio did not get imported, or that it is muted somehow? I don't see any waveform whatsoever, nor do I see any way to "unmute" the audio. When I play the video clip in VLC, the audio plays fine. What am I missing?
    Thanks

You got to do some more step's
Open application so that you see the problem on screen
    press - Shift+cmd+4 - and mark a significant area
in next responce - select the Camera symbol and flip to the sceendump - most often found on Root level on Macintosh HD (Boot drive)
    or
    ON DeskTop as here
And Insert button down right (after selecting the picture)
Can be named in several ways dep. on Mac OS

  • A few seconds after render finishes, the red line re-appears above timeline.

    Hello
I am editing a video consisting of still pictures (jpgs) on Premiere Pro CC 2014.
I am using dynamic link with After effects in order to add some animation effects on the still images (sky replacement, puppet, projection etc..)
After doing some work on AE, when I get back to Premiere, a red line appears above the timeline, meaning that I must render that clip (which was just worked on in AE)
Recently the performance while rendering became very slow   (rendering inside Premiere by pressing "Enter" on the keyboard)
I just waited several hours for it to finish rendering a part of my clip.  It finally finished.
I then played the video and it was running smoothly.
However, after a few seconds, without me doing any changes !!!  suddenly the red line above the timeline reappeared.
And now, the video seems to be un-rendered, and it is either not playing or getting stuck all the time.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
This is extremely frustrating and looks like something is terribly wrong with Premiere.
    screenshot is attached.
    Thanks,
    Tal

I have installed the xf86-video-intel-newest from AUR, but with modified version - 2.13.0. Now mouse pointer works.

  • Red line on top of clips, how can I get rid of them?

I'm trying to delete these old clips that are just cluttering my iMovie! But every time I try to delete them, nothing happens! They appear to have a red line on the top, and are like,  .1 seconds long. I didn't make them that long or anything, they just wouldn't delete. It's starting to really make me antsy since I'd like to do a project for a friend but with all the clutter, I have a hard time finding what I'm looking for!
    Please help!

If you want to delete the clips go to the iMovie window near the bottom, there's a pull-down list marked "Show", click on that and choose 'Rejected Only', this will only show the clips with red stripes on them.
Then you can click to select one of them, then hold down the ⌘ Command key + A to select all of the rejected clips. Then click on the button just above that window and towards the right that is labeled "Move to Trash". If they don't move, you can also just click the button titled "Hide Rejected" for now and worry about the rejected clips later.

  • Encore / Images Blacked out with RED line on top

New at this. I have 1.67gb left in my project. (I have a lot of photos) Any way when I add more (Shift / Ctrl / g ) When I look at the bottom Left where the slides show up I just loaded 2 of the 60 photos I can see but the other 58 are black. All 60 have this red line above them.
Can anyone teach me what's going on here:)
    THANKS

    Joseph,
You are possibly (note: "possibly") on the right track with the elimination of each slide show, until you find the one that is "possibly" causing the problem.
Get a spool of DVD-RWs (rewritables), and do a Project with one of your slide shows, then burn to DVD-RW and test that. Does all work as it should? In that Project, add another slide show, repeat the DVD-RW burn again. Still OK? Add another, and another. If the process hangs, errors out, on one, check it completely to see if you can spot a problem with it. Sometimes, it's some tiny glitch that ruins the whole Project, and you have to spend some time searching through tons of good assets, just to find the offending one, or ones.
As for the size concern, take a look at the Disc Tab in your Project Panel. There will be a diagram of the DVD with the used portion colored in. Does it show that you still have room? If not, check the CD-ROM area, just below, to see if you accidently added some content there. If you have exceeded the capacity of a 4.7GB DVD, Encore should give you an error message, suggesting that you go with a DVD-9 (Dual Layer), instead of a DVD-5.
Question: where did you get the info, that you still have 1.38GB of space on this Project, the Disc Tab in the Project Panel? If so, that should tell you that you DO have room, i.e. the Project is not too large. It would then follow, that you likely have some problem and my first statements might help you track these down.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
[EDIT] PS, Harm is only trying to help you explain your problem in enough detail, so that the folk who hang out here, can, in turn, help you solve your problem. As you can see from my response, I'm doing a lot of guessing, and much/all of it might be wrong. With more detail (per Harm's link), others will see what you started with, what you have done so far, and maybe even some hardware issues. The first couple of folk, who responded to you, are some of the best on this board.

  • Red Line in the timeline by the time code

    Hello Again,
Suddenly, a red line appeared in the timeline by the time code? what does it mean? How can I delete it? Thanks again.

    Thank you for your feedback.
Yes, I' familiar about the un rendered red lines. The line I'm talking about is right inside the "ruler" as if the digits (minutes/seconds) are crossed out. This line also showing up at the canvass window. I think this came out when i'm doing some keyframing.
    Thanks again.

  • Red lines in Time Machine Backup timeline

Can someone tell me what a red line means in the timeline of a timemachine backup.
I have my fears it's an incomplete backup. I had a message on my mac the other day saying, "after a quality scan of my timemachine archive, it is suggested you create a whole new archive." It did and I lost all last months worth of archives. Sadly I needed a file from the day before the archive went.
Background on my archiveing, I'm using the Seagate Goflex Home, router connected hard drive. It's been a bit slow when doing searches, and viewing timemachine, its unbeleiveably slow.
Any input, appart from contacting Seagate, which I will be doing, is appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi Linc Davis,
I'm taking your advice and going back to basics. I think the problem is with Mountain Lion, backing up to a server over ethernet. and I'm giving up on Goflex. I may put the drive onto my Thunderbolt base reformat it and set my backups to there.
I'm curious to load ML Server onto my intel MacPro tower, but that is so much more server than I would ever need.
Looking forward to a OS X update.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements - Red Line / Green Line

I have spent this past weekend working with Premiere Elements on my Mac (just purchased it along with Photoshop Elements 9).  I can't seem to find a manual for it so so far I have been forced to work with it based on intuition.  Thus far, I have been surprisingly successful.  However, I do have some questions.
I have imported some videos that were previously ripped from DVDs into Organizer.  I have place several clips into the timeline and made mostly edits like cuts and removal of audio files attached to the video files (no effects and no transitions).  I have also imported an audio file (formatted in apple AAC) into the timeline that was purchased from iTunes.  What I noticed is that there is a red line on top of the timeline and I am not sure why (not even sure what that means).  While I'm editing, the program runs pretty sluggishly (ie. scubbing through the timeline is very blocky and not smooth) but so far it has not crashed.  Also, the video quality while viewing on the timeline is somewhat poor.  However, once I render the project to a .mov file it looks great and all the edit points I have done is on point and synced with the music.
Can someone provide insight for a newbie?

The red line indicates that the content under the timeline is not "native". When you click on the timeline and then hit the "Enter" key, you will see a progress bar that converts this area under the red bar to native properties and turns the bar green. Native to what? Native to the project presets.
When you launch a new project you will notice a small information under the project name etc, that looks something like "NTSC DV" or "Full HD 5.1 1920x1080i 30" etc. This is the settings in which the clips are to be imported. If you are sure about the exact properties of the clips that you will import and edit, I suggest you change these project settings manually when you create the new project. Else, all you have to do is launch a project with ANY setting, and enter a single file from what you have imported to the organizer. The switch to a correct project will happen automatically. Hopefully the other clips that you have for this edit session are from the same camera/with same properties. When native, there are no Red/Green bars above the clips.
The other thing about the red/green bar is that if any property of the clip is altered, (adding effect, changing opacity, changing the duration, placing any other asset above the clip etc) the bar WILL turn red. That is when you might see the playback issues. To correct this, you must render and then once green the playback will be really smooth.
And regarding your query about changing the project while you are editing, you cannot do that in Premiere Elements. If you have started editing in a particular project setting, you can save it, and continue editing later. But when you reopen the same project, the settings will be the same as the ones you created/switched to the first time.

  • When opened, my image appears black with a few red lines at the top, yet the thumbnail looks as it should be. How do I fix this?

I have been working on an illustration in Photoshop for a few months now. When I tried to open it yesterday it came up as a single layered black image with a few red lines at the top. I have no idea what this is. I have not even used red in my artwork. However, no matter how many times open this file, the thumbnail still looks like my artwork, as it should be. How do I fix this? Will I be able to get my artwork back? Please help! Thank you in advance.

Make sure you has the latest Windows Device driver for your display adapted from its manufacturer's web site installed on your system. Perhaps you updated the device driver with a Microsoft Windows Update.   Microsoft update does not always install the correct update needed fpr Phoroshop.

  • Using  Adobe Premiere CS3 (ver. 3.2) with Microsoft AVI DV files (4:3, 48Khz) on timeline now ask render (red line) and before didnt.Proyect is DV NTSC standard 48Khz. What it could be?

    Hi,
Normally during months the edition was done with Microsoft AVI DV Files (4:3 NTSC 48 Khz). No effects (just cuts). Proyect settings as DV-NTSC Standard 48 KHz
Since today when the work is done in a new or old proyect (DV-NTSC Standard 48 KHz) and  if the same file (Microsoft AVI DV) is loaded to timeline now is showing a red line over the video on timeline (so requires render). There no effects. This never happens before. it is very weird.
The Premiere is CS3 ver 3.2.0.
This is  happening to 2 computers with the same version. So far I know there is no changes on the systems
I was thinking to reisntall 3.0 and then test and the update to 3.2...
    Any idea?

    Hi,
It worked once in one of the computers. (AVi DV didnt show render red over line). BUt afterwards the problem got back. The only solution so far was to reinstall premiere, update to 3.2.0 in both pc.
It worked for a while then problems was again. Reinstalled for second time, so far 2 days still ok.. It is very weird. I unchecked updates from cs3 and windowsfor just in case has any relation.
    Thanks for your tip anyway.

  • CS5.5: timeline rendered, but still "red line"?

    Hello,
I rendered the timeline with a nested timeline over night (> 10 h rendering time for 30 minutes video) to work with it in a smooth way,  the folder "Adobe Premiere Pro Preview Files" contains a renderd file with 16 GB -- but there is still a "red line" in the timeline!
But why? 10 hours for nothing? Grr....
    Thanks!

  • Adobe Captivate 5.5 Red Line on Timeline

I have a red line on some of the slides in my Timeline going from left to right but not as long as the entire slide's timeline.
    What does that mean?

@Varun, Sorry Varun to correct your answer but Video Demo did not exist yet in Captivate 5.5.
@dggambal That red line meant in 5.5 and previous versions that in a automatic capture Captivate had to switch over to Full Motion Recording because of moving actions like dragging, scrolling that cannot be captured on static slides.
But I'm puzzled because you tell that the red line is not going till the end of the timeline. Normally FMR-slides are separate slides. Could you post a screenshot of that timeline? Did you perhaps change the slide duration? Can you play that slide to see what happens after the red line?
One tip: change the settings for FMR in Preferences, Recording from 16 to 32-bit, to have better quality that will be more like the static slides.

About Final Cut ProX: why a red line appears at the top o a file imported into a New Event? then when I restarted the Project that files comes as "Missed files" How can i fix it? Thank you very much.

Where are you importing from – a camera or computer? If you are optimizing at import, make sure the background processes are completed. (Command-9)

  • Little red line appearing at bottom of 2 clips dropped onto my timeline

This isn't a clip that isn't yet rendered. Rather it's a line that appears at the bottom of the clip but only from the first frame till about half way through the length of the clip and it also has four little white rectangals at the start of the red line. It plays fine on the timeline, doesn't need rendering (if you do, it is still there) but I have never seen this before and wondered what the significance is or what it indicates?
    thanks

it's showing you instances of using the same media in your sequence. you've enabled Show Duplicate Frames in the Timeline Options of your User Preferences.
time to get out the manual and read about your user interface.

  • Red line between in/out point in timeline

I am cutting clips down in the timeline. parking playhead, control V to make cut, >X to select remainder of clip. hitting X inserts in/out points on most coips but, on some of the clips a red line appears between the in/out points and the in/out points cover more than the remainder of the clip. Why is it doing this? have not found an answer in my FCP book on the discussion boards.
    G4 Dual 533Mhz, 1.5ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   FCP 4, Pioneer D111 SuperDrive

Sounds like a split edit - look that up in the manual and see if it's what you're seeing. I've never used one on the timeline but I suppose it should be possible. Does it go away if you set new in and out points with plain "i" and "o"?
In fact I just tried it and it looks like what you describe. You must have slipped and done a "Control-i" or some such for a video-only edit point.
