Thinpad T431s don't detect wifi conectons

Hello. I have a ThinPad T431s , which does not detect any wireless network, even though the wireless adapter is active . To fix this, I have to connect to the network through the network cable after the connection is established proceed to disable the wireless adapter and turn again , then it detects the wireless networks . The big problem is that it is becoming very common this situation. What could be the reason for this? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Have you tried to update your WLAN driver? System Update is a good tool to detect drivers and helps you to update them:https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht080136 I would try that first and if it still has the problem, try to respond with: - Operativing system (x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit)) (See Control Panel -> System)- Product Number (P/N)

I've had my iPhone 4 for about 2 months now and it could detect wifi at quite a good range. But until recently I have had to get almost completely next to the router for it to detect. It's not my wifi; my sister's phone can detect it at a certain range, but mine cannot. I don't know what happend to it! HELP!

    Hello lvorwerck,
The troubleshooting steps detailed below can help resolve issues with signal strength when using Wi-Fi on your iPhone.
Wi-Fi disconnects or signal strength is less than expected
Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
Check for sources of potential interference.
Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings

  • MacBook Pro Retina stopped detecting wifi network in one location.

Hey everyone, experiencing kind of a weird problem and was hoping someone would be able to help.   I was doing some studying at a Starbucks, connected to their WiFi network when randomly my computer lost connection to their network and was no longer able to detect that it even exists. I was worried this was some sort of problem with my wifi card as it could no longer detect any networks nearby, where as before it was detecting multiple networks in the area of the Starbucks. Oddly i was still able to connect to the network on both my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Upon returning home I was relieved to find that I was still able to connect to my home wifi network. Since then i've been to many locations with my laptop but not once had an issue connecting to or detecting wifi networks, with the exception being at that Starbucks location. I've returned many times hoping that the problem would somehow fix itself, and that maybe it was just a problem with their network, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It seems to be that for whatever reason something happened to the MacBook pro while I was at that Starbucks location that has caused it to no longer detect the wifi networks there, and only there.  One possibility could be the I updated Mountain Lion to the 10.8.2 supplemental update while there, but I don't see how that would cause the problem. If anyone has any ideas as to a solution that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

I considered the network hog point, but I don't believe that I was using any excessive amounts of bandwidth. Also, because I can no longer detect any networks at the Starbucks location (not just the Starbucks network) I don't believe that this is the problem. Also, when I updated the operating system I was sure to disconnect from wifi first, I had already downloaded the update on my home network, just had yet to restart to install it, so my security shouldn't have been an issue either.  How exactly can I go about masking my MAC address so I could double check to see if it was the network issue?
Oh, also, I booted into Windows 7 via boot camp and for some reason Windows is also unable to detect any networks while at Starbucks as well, which is even more confusing.  I don't know if it's worth mentioning, but I bought this MacBook pro retina in Canada and am now in There UK for school. I've heard that north American macs don't play well with one of the network channels that is commonly used over here, so that also may play a role in all of this. But considering that I was able to consistently use their wifi for a couple weeks with no issue, I don't see how that could be the problem. As far as WEP encrypted goes, the network is unsecured so I don't believe that's the problem.
Thanks for the response, I appreciably appreciate it!

  • My new macbook pro can't detect wifi sometimes...

    hi guys...
i just bought late 2011 macbook pro on 27 april this year...it was succesfully connect to any wifi at anytime & anywhere...
but the problem begins when i stayed at my brothers's house...
my macbook can connect to the wifi there for the 1st time, but after i shut down my MBP and turn it ON again, it cannot detect the wifi at my brother's house, but it's weird when it can detect wifis from neighbourhood...
there' a solution for this problem...i have to repeatedly turn ON & OFF the wifi on MBP many times before it successfully connected...
but unfortunately after shutdown & turn it ON again, i've lost the connection again...what i have to do is repeatedly turn ON/OFF the wifi on MBP AGAIN until it was successfully connected...
pls help me, i already googled this problem but can't find the right solution anywhere...pls help me....thanks in advance....
    *additional note:-
    - my iphone4 & my ipad2 doesn't have the problem detecting & connecting to the wifi at my brother's house....
    - i live in malaysia, my iphone4 & ipad2 is malaysian version but my macbook pro was US version...

Just finished trying the suggestion from my Mac store "genius", and it WORKED.  He suggested that I connect to the router directly with ethernet.  His thought being that once my MBP found the IP address it would be able to find the network wirelessly.  While still connected I went to System Preferences/Network, selected WI-Fi and entered the network info (name & password).  There it was - connected.
Don't know how to make this solution available to everyone with the same problem.  If someone knows how, go for it.
Thanks to everyone who responded.  Your efforts are appreciated.

  • T431s Can't Detect External Storage (Again)

I'm back with the same issue. A couple weeks ago I had a problem with my external storage and I came here for support. Here is the previous thread. I "resolved" the issue by doing a system restore and didn't have the problem again until now. To summarize the issue...
    t431s can't detect external storage.
Under device manager all devices end up under "Other devices". "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)"
It isn't a problem with any one drive because I've tested the same devices of different manufacturers on two other computers.
Attempting to download and install the drivers for each inidivdual device doesn't help.
Other than regular updates from Windows and Lenovo's System Update tool, nothing has changed that I can notice.
I don't consider system restore a solution to the problem. Since the issue has resurfaced, I don't I want to get into a habit of restoring on a regular basis just to avoid this problem. Any other ideas?

Since the drives are being detected on other computers, it looks like the issue could be with the USB drivers on your computer. Here are a few steps that you can try to fix the issue:
    1. Connect the drive to your system.
    2. Go to device manager and confirm that they show up under 'Other devices'.
    3. Right click on the device and select 'Uninstall'
    4. Once it's gone from the device manager, disconnect the external drive.
    5. Open a Windows Explorer window (right-click on Start > Explore).
    6. In the address bar, type c:\windows\inf and press Enter. For Windows 7 type c:\windows\system32\driverstore and press Enter.
    7. Delete the file INFCACHE.1.
    8. If you get an error when trying to delete this file, try the following steps:
     a. Right-click on INFCACHE.1.
     b. Select Properties.
     c. Click on the Security tab.
     d. Click Edit to edit permissions.
     e. Click Add to add Group or User name.
     f. Click on the user name under which you are currently logged in.
     g. Click on the Full Control box in the lower permissions section, then click OK.
     h. Delete the file.
    9. Reboot and reconnect the drive. The file should be rebuilt, correcting the problem.

    Hello NotAppleSavy,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the computer wont connect to networks. I see you have used network diagnostic. I would recommend that you read this article, there are a lot of other things you can do in this article that may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • My iphone 4s is no longer detecting wifi since the ISO8 updates came out. I've restarted, rest the networks, reset the phone back to factory settings, and even tried the freezer trick. It is STILL not detecting ANY wifi networks. HELP!!!

My iphone 4s is no longer detecting wifi since the IOS8 updates came out. I've restarted, rest the networks, reset the phone back to factory settings, and even tried the freezer trick. It is STILL not detecting ANY wifi networks. HELP!!! I cannot afford to go over my data and I use wifi at home and work... I believe the updates have caused the issue, because it was working fine before the second update released (I hadn't put the first one one until I noticed it had stopped working, and by then the second IOS8 version had came out). They need to do a third update to fix this issue.

    If it's grayed out:
Reset Network Settings - if that doesn't fix it, then Backup and Restore AS A NEW DEVICE.
If it's still grayed out, unfortunately that means your Wi-Fi antenna quit, and it needs service.
