Thinpad Yoga (12.5'') - Sticker + Transition Software

After just 7 days of use the Thinkpad Logo came off (it being a sticker).
Support said, well thats cosmetical damage, maybe the reseller would do anything (which he won't as its under Lenovo Warrenty and he won't care).
I asked if he could just send me a sticker to repapply, no was the awnser.
Top notch support, this isn't the first time i made very disappointing experiences with Lenovo Support.

Elsewhise the Lenovo Transition software is extremly buggy, mulitplying its icon in the taskbar for no apparent reason.
I know somebody with the same laptop and his Transition software doesn't do the same (equal programm version).
Am i the only one with those two problems?

well the man at the hotline told me its a 'cosmetic damage' which isn't covered by the warranty.
i asked if there is anything else i could do, his awsner was no.
shall i call again and ask if they can escalate it (to where?)
Thanks

The recently released motherboard test fails the IRQ-test on my 20CD Thinpad Yoga with

Anybody else seeng this? Is it the test or my TP that are faulty?

I edited your post to correct the model number (20CD).
I ran the same test on my 20CD system here, and I don't see the problem.
    What OS are you running?

  • Determine propagation time from signals obtained with Gould Transition software

    Hi
I'm trying to analyze signals from measurements of sound waves. I tried to do it with the Transition software, but this software is not sufficient because there are no averaging or filter options (furthermore you have to analyze graph after graph). Signals are saved in ASCII-code and what I'm looking for is a good and fast way to determine propagation time from the differences of the arriving of two waves. FFT would be great to.
    Thanks a lot

Any personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

  • Yoga 13: Adobe Flash crashing with Transitions?

Whenever I have Firefox open and flip from laptop to tent or tablet mode, Adobe Flash crashes.  This is a major annoyance because really the only time I go from laptop to tent or tablet mode is when I am watching a video within Firefox.  I've searched Google but haven't found anything... I have the latest version of Flash (11.6.602.180) and the latest version of Transitions I've found on this horrible Lenovo site.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem, and have you found a fix?  Thanks in advance!

I, too am having this issue - however instead of crashing, my PC usually slows down.  For anyone at Lenovo that cares to actually test this issue - just open up any web browser and watch a YouTube  video.  Play the video in laptop mode.  Then when you're done, switch to tablet mode and play it again.  That same video will either become choppy or crash.  Likewise, when I try to use a program to play DRM videos (Vudu) or play flash-enabled games I have the same issue.  I have tried to look at task manager and do a comparison of programs running before and after transition to tablet mode, and all I can see is a .1% spike in memory usage by Lenovo Transition.
I think this is a more recent problem as I don't remember this being an issue from the start, but I can't identify how recent.  I used to play a game called SoulCraft from the Windows 8 store back in January.  This game is most easily played in tablet mode, and it played perfectly.  It quickly got old and I stopped playing after about a week.  I came back to it about 4 weeks ago but it was choppy in tablet mode.  When in laptop mode it plays fine.  So I reckon that this issue came with a software update that occurred sometime between late Jan and early Apr.  That's just my speculation, though.  I have also installed/uninstalled programs which may be messing with the transition software.

  • TVSU not showing latest drivers for Thinkpad Yoga or updating to the latest software

    I'm using Windows 8.1 x64 with a Thinkpad Yoga
I have TVSU (ThinkVantage Software Update) version 5.03.0010 which it updated itself to from a previous version.
However, on the support page for the Thinkpad Yoga:
    http://support.lenovo.com/au/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...
The latest version of TVSU is shown to be 5.06.0020
The current version of TVSU I am using is not updating my Intel graphics driver to the latest shown on the the website above (The latest version on the site is 10.18.10.3855 10/17/2014 whereas TVSU only updated mine to 10.18.10.3383 an older version which isn't available on the website).
I prefer to do everything through automated updates and I have run into errors manually updating. Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This is normal.  All drivers must go through quality certification before showing up on SU. Typically a 2 month delay from the version posted on the support page.
The absolute newest version would be found on www.intel.com. The support site has the absolute newest version.

  • Transitions are sticking

    Hey everybody!
I recently purchased a Canon EOS 5D Mark II digital camera. I use it for my film company. I also use Final Cut Pro 7, all on the newest version of an iMac.
I was editing footage (Quicktime Movie format) in FCP7, and after inserting a transition, the footage started to 'stick'. The transition gets about 75% done, and then flashes a quick clip of the previous clip, then keeps going. This happens with any transition on any footage, whether it be on my HD or an external HD. Please help! The mac tech support guy didn't even know.

No disrespect intended, but if you are running a film company, it is imperative to know the difference between an editing codec and a delivery or acquisition codec.
h.264 is not an editing codec, and needs to be converted, either in log and transfer using the Canon EOS plug in, or externally, to an editing codec which should be prores 422 LT.
This will eliminate your sticking transitions.

  • Lenova Yoga 2 Pro Keyboard not working

I just bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 pro and installed windows 8.1 by itsef. During Windows 8.1 initial setup I was able to use keyboard to type in PC Name, but after that the keyboard and touch pad was not working/no any response any more. After Windows 8.1 lunched the keyboard also no any response. I have to use touch screen soft keyboard. But when laptop in BIOS mode (turn power off and press a small round button next to power button) the keyboard was working fine. So I think that the keyboard hardware is ok, but some thing iwas wrong with Windows 8.1 software issue. I also un-selected all on Easy of Access->Keyboard section in Windows 8.1. Did anyone has same experience and know how to resolve this problem? Thanks a lot!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Sounds like the laptop is thinking you are in tablet mode and the keyboard/touchpad are being disabled. Try moving the screen into tablet mode and back. See if that fixes it. You can also try to run an update on the Lenovo Transition software (it is currently at version 2.0.13.8221). This is done from the About tab of the software (when you run it from the start/search box).

  • Clean install of Win8.1 on Yoga 2 Pro

    Hello everybody.
I just bought a Yoga 2 Pro with pre-installed Win 8.1. I'm actually not a Windows user, therefore I have some questions, which I hope I find some solutions here.
When I received the Yoga, there was plenty of software pre-installed which I don't need/want/use (what is typically for Windows laptops, as far as I remember from the past). Like Antivirus and so on. What can I do, to have a clean Windows 8.1 install withouth any unneeded additional software? I guess, the Windows build-in reset will not help, or will it? I read, that this feature will reset the computer but not delete pre-installed software from the computer?
I would like to install Windows 8.1 from scratch, but I don't have an install medium, so can I get a copy of Win8.1 for an USB-Bootable Stick anywhere, or what would be the best to do?
Thanks in advance for your tips,
    Tetrikus

You may download a ISO of windows 8.1 which is widely available on the intenet and make a bootable USB drive with that. Then you can format the HDD entirely and do a fresh install of 8.1. However, the lenovo recovery button won't work any more. Other than that, everything else should be fine provided you install all the listed drivers on lenovo supprt website. As for a auto-rotate and keyboard lock, they should also work without glitches once you install the proper drivers from lenovo.
One more thing, the lenovo recovery button is very very sensitive to the HDD partitions. Lenovo PCs have a lot of hidden partitions and even a slightest change to any of them will cause the recovery button to fail.

  • Yoga 2 13 laptop - Windows 10 issues

I have upgraded to windows 10 and after a few rookie win 10 issues and drivers problems I have 1 last issue to solve. same as listed up this topichttps://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-10/Yoga-2-13-laptop-Windows-10-issues/td-p/2128415 - Shutdown / standby bug: computer hangs often when trying to shutdown or enter standby mode -the display goes black, but the Windows touchkey below the screen still gives vibration feedback, power light stays on and fans keep spinning loud. The solution then is to hold the power button pressed for a long time to force shutdown or wait until the battery depletes. This is noticable when I close the lid and open it later. Ive tried changing "lid close" settings to hibanate etc but it still does the same thing.

I upgrated to Windows 10 on July 31st with my Yoga 2 13 and I only ran into two major issue and a minor issue.
Side note: my Windows logo button on the Bezel (vibrates when you touch it and then brings up the app tiles screen) hasn't worked for some time and still doesn't work after the upgrade - anyone know if there's a software fix, driver location etc?
Major issue 1: No internet connectivity!
    - All network devices show up as working properly and all drivers upto date.
    - No possibility for network connection not even through bluetooth sharing via mobile phone.
I discovered one post suggesting removing all Cisco VPN connections before upgrading as removal after upgrade didn't resolve the issue.
    Fix:
If after upgrading you have no internet connectivity, revert back to your previous windows version, uninstall all Cisco and other VPN clients then reinstall windows 10. Internet connections should work now.
Major issue 2: I am still having issues with Cisco based VPN's not staying connected. Haven't yet investigated a fix at the moment, just dealing with it.
Admin Edit - Microsoft released a support tip related to the VPN / Wifi issue here -  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3084164
    Minor issue:
    - Windows 10 doesn't recognize any of the transitional modes of the yoga (as in Lenovo transitions) resulting in the keyboard and mouse being disabled only in full tablet mode. Using Window's Tablet mode button in the action center doesn't disable these inputs either. Until Lenovo comes up with an update to Transitions this could be a serious annoyance for some folks.
Minus these annoyances the move to windows 10 hasn't been too awful. Granted I haven't had much of an opportunity to try all the software I rely on as of yet, but in the next couple weeks I'm sure I'll discover several other hicups.

  • IWS for Yoga Series Yoga 13 Laptop (IdeaPad)

    Hello,
I come from China. I ordered a refurbished machine for Yoga 13 on the Offical website on Feb 12,2014. At that time, the IWS was supported for the refurbished ones. However, since the update of your policy, the document ID is PD004172 which was last modified on 11/3/2014!!!  It results that  I cannot apply for the IWS at my location because my local support provide the updated policy document for me.

  • Thinkpad Yoga cooling fan issue

    Hi,
my TPY had been working pretty well for several weeks but last few days I´m experiencing an annoying issue - the cooling fan doesn´t engage when TPY gets hot under load, even when the core gets to 100 degrees Celsius and all the bottom and right side of keyboard and palmrest is really very hot. The cooling fan seems OK, during BIOS update it engaged. There must have been some kind of recent "update" that messed it up. Any advices how to fix it, please?
    Thanks, Tomas from Prague
P.S.: I´ve gone through the power management settings - the active cooling set on - no change. In the BIOS there´s no feature to control the cooling fan  :/

I had very similar issues with the latest driver; device would disconnect, freeze, interfere with keyboard, display as "disabled" in device manager.
I simply just removed the synaptics driver and use the touchpad as a standard PS/2 device. Vastly improved stability but however you lose two finger scroll and gestures.
I also am looking for a better solution.
(I also disabled the active protection and transition software from lenovo - much better keyboard/touchpad performance and stability).

  • G4 with 10.2.1 (or maybe 10.3.9) won't start after software upgrade

A little history...bought this PowerBook G4 new from Fry's (no + testimonials will be provided!!!). Since machine was floor model they did a clean install of 10.2.1. Discs they gave me were not the same OS version, however. The computer did work until an out-of-the-blue Kernel crash a year later while on vacation (suddenly wouldn't recognize anything USB). Fry's sent it to Apple. It was returned with 10.3.9 on it and 10.2.7 disk. When I upgraded my scanner software (w/o trashing the previous version of the software which was for system 9.2), the computer worked until I turned it off. I've since purchased $129 Disk Genius, tried every command-S, option key, fsck -fy, reset the PRAM and, who knows what else). When I had the Disk Genius in I was able to go into the disk utility and repair the permissions, etc. Then I guess I did the ultimate no-no...tried to reinstall a lower system than was now on the computer (since the only disk I had was for 10.2). The computer, through all of this starts up (well, not really)...it chimes...and then the little dial (not rainbow one) just goes around and around and around. Any ideas anyone? Thanks so much!
    PowerBook G4 15" 1GHZ Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hi, 411Shirley - 10.2.7 was a transitional software release from early October, 2003 that only shipped with three Mac models I am aware of: the 1 GHz 15" PowerBook; the 1.33GHz 17" PowerBook and a particular G5 tower. The machines that shipped with this version of OS X cannot boot from any earlier versions of the OS, and this version of OS X was not available to users of other Mac models. These users could only update from 10.2.6 to 10.2.8.
The 15" Aluminum PowerBook looks like this:
There was also a 15" 1GHz Titanium PowerBook (TiBook) which looked like this:
The TiBook was a dual-boot machine. That means that it could be booted into both OS 9 and OS X. It shipped with OS 9.2.1 and OS 10.2 preinstalled.
If the machine you bought came with 10.2.1 preinstalled, then you have a TiBook, and this machine cannot run 10.2.7. You will be able to install a system from the original disc(s), and upgrade to 10.2.8, however.
To reinstall 10.2.1 (or whatever version of OS X is contained on the original discs that came with your computer), you will need to boot from that disc, erase and reformat your hard drive and install 10.2.1. You will not be able to install OS X 10.3 or OS X 10.4 without purchasing them as retail packages.

  • Software Monitoring (EASY UNDERSTANDING IT)

    Hi all
    Just a question:
What is the SIMPLEST way to handle Software Monitoring in Logic Pro 7.2?
Do I have to turn on/out the button always when I record and than mix?
What is the SIMPLEST way to handle this feature?
Thanks for a CLEAR and SHORT answer!
    Marcos
PS: What is the essential meaning of Software Monitoring anyway? Is it very important?
      Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I only monitor through Logic. I use no external mixer.
(So in my case Software monitoring should always be ON, right?
You do have an external mixer - it's inside your audio hardware.
I have a MOTU 896HD but NEVER used the CueMix DSP™
on-board mixing feature (to complicated to me)
Then stick to software monitoring only.
Either you mix the guitar signal with the output of
Logic in your audio interface, and send the mix to
    your speakers (direct monitoring),
Don't understand exactly what you mean!!!
    Direct monitoring:
    - Guitar is plugged into input 1 on your audio interface.
    - That guitar input is sent directly to the outputs of your audio interface (and therefore to your speakers).
    - The main output of Logic is also sent to the outputs of your audio interface (and therefore to your speakers) - so Logic's mix is mixed together with the guitar signal from the audio interface's input so you can hear them both
    - The guitar input is also sent to Logic for recording purposes, but you don't hear it inside Logic - that way, you only hear the direct guitar signal, rather than two copies of it
    Software monitoring:
    - Guitar is plugged into input 1 on your audio interface.
    - That guitar input is NOT sent directly to the outputs of your audio interface (and therefore to your speakers).
    - The guitar input is sent to Logic for recording purposes, and Logic adds this into it's main mix, so Logic's output includes the guitar sound you are recording
    - The main output of Logic is sent to the outputs of your audio interface (and therefore to your speakers)
This means, since I use no external mixer, I can only make
audio recordings and stay clean with the latency problem
if I don't use any plug ins (because using them would create latency).
No - any audio that goes into Logic and back out again will have latency, because it takes time for the audio to go through both buffers. If you add plugins, that is likely to increase the latency because they may need even more time to process the audio. But software monitoring will always have some latency - and it's for this reason that direct monitoring on audio interfaces was included.
In other words, I can't record and at the same time use plug ins?
Yes you can, as long as you are using software monitoring. If you are using direct monitoring, then you can't hear the plugins, because you are not hearing the guitar in Logic (and therefore also it's plugins), you are hearing the dry direct signal only.
