  • How do I access other areas of a single page website via in browser editing

I have created a single page website in adobe muse. The menu is made up of hyperlinks to jump to other areas of the website. I would like to update a slideshow that is NOT on the home screen only I cannot access any other area of the website via Business Catalyst in browser editing apart from elements on the home screen.

You can click the Menu Item which will scroll the page to that specific section and then you can use edit.

  • Ok, about images and In-Browser editing (not working)?

I have created a site where I changed the corner radius on a image. In order for me to be able to drop in an image without having to re-adjust and position, I created a rectangle, adjusted the radius and then filled the rectangle with the image, set it to Original Size. It works perfectly in Muse. I can choose another image I have prepared and just drop it in with radius in tact.
This can't be done with In-Browser editing. I imagine that it is because it is a fill image and is within a "holder". Very sad about this as my clients can not change this picture via IBE.
Is there a work around where I can keep the radius?

You are correct, In-Browser Editing does not currently support editing fill or background images.
There are some cases where having a placed image with effects applied (e.g. rounded corners) will still allow In-Browser Editing to replace the image and keep the effects intact. For example: I placed the Muse logo on a page, set two rounded corners, and applied a 1px red stroke. When I preview, I can click/drag the image and see that the image itself is not rounded.
When I apply an inner glow to the image, all the effects are merged down into the image itself.
This is done because not all browsers support the effects and your design might suffer. Muse chooses to rasterize the image instead of relying on HTML/CSS for the effects. In-Browser Editing doesn't know about those effects and won't be able to apply them to new images that are uploaded.
As far as keeping the effects in place, but swapping out the image during design time in Muse, this can be done. Right click on the image and choose "Replace Image...". This keeps the effects applied to the image frame and replaces the image itself.

  • Host website and email on my Snow Leopard Server

Hi. I have a customer who currently has a hosting company for his emails and website. He recently bought a Mac Leopard Server which I set up on the network which now he wants to host his web site (be a web server) as well as his own Mail Server (with his email addresses hosted himself). The ISP provides him with a static IP address, he has a registered domain name with GoDaddy. How do I go about providing this service to him on the Mac Server and what do i fill in as the default DNS name on the Server? Additionally what ports do I open on the ISP firewall and how and where do I store the website files for hosting the the website? I prefer not to host DNS on this Server as it is a small network how can I configure the MX record for this site then? Thanks.

This is not a trivial task. Getting a Mac to act as a web server is trivial, provided you either can do with the default settings or are capable of managing an Apache web server. However, making that available on the web in general and making it the server responsible for maintaining the company web site is another thing entirely.
First, a static IP address is not the same thing as a connection appropriate for a web server. Unless your client has paid for an internet connection that will allow such use, his ISP may very well cut him off as soon as they discover he's using it to run a server. Paying for such a connection will be much more expensive than just paying for a static IP address. And unless he's really paying a lot, the site will be slower than most web sites.
Similarly, he's going to have to pay for someone to be on call 24-7 to fix server issues. He'll also need to have backup hardware in case of hardware failure. For example, if the hard drive in the server dies, he may not be able to afford a few days' downtime while a new hard drive is bought, the old one replaced and all the software and data reinstalled/restored on the new drive. If the site is at all important, I wouldn't consider anything less than a second server kept entirely synced with the primary one so they can be swapped out at a moment's notice.
Honestly, given all the extra costs of running your own server, it's actually cheaper to just pay for hosting on a decent service provider. (GoDaddy is not one I would consider decent, so if he's having issues, switching hosts is probably the better option.)
Now, if he just wants a small, in-house server that won't be seeing much traffic, that's definitely possible. But, as already pointed out, that would be better discussed on the server forums. Although some folks here will have experience setting up a web server on a standard copy of Mac OS X, many/most of them have no experience with Mac OS X Server.

  • Cannot create new page nor website and worse cannot edit existing websites

When I click on File in the menu the only options that work are Setup Google AdSense and Page Setup...
All other options are grey and cannot be accessed. This means that I cannot edit my existing websites which is a major problem.
Any idea? Reinstalling iWeb did not help.

  • Local versus Hosted Websites and Internet Explorer 7

I am working on a site that will be deployed over the internet and distributed on a DVD-ROM. There are many users that do not have access to the internet throughout the day as they are mobile. They have laptops and what to have access to the information on a DVD-ROM. The DVD is needed as the site is far larger than 700MB.
When I upload the site, it renders well using Safari (Mac), Firefox (Mac), Safari (Windows), Firefox (Windows), and Internet Explorer (7.X Windows).
When I create a DVD-ROM with a little autoexec.bat file to automatically load the browser and index file, it works great in all of the browsers I have listed above except, Internet Explorer. The javascript menu's are no where to be seen. I have spent time looking a the security issues, scripting permissions etc, and can't get it to work.
Have body have any specific helpful ideas? I really would like this to work under IE, especially since it renders just fine while accessing the site via the internet. I just doesn't work on a local copy.

I was having this problem too and found the Dreamweaver 8.0.2
updater that corrects that problem. See

  • Adobe Muse in browser editing - BC webmarketing

    Hi,
    Can someone explain if there is a difference for the set up for in browser editing with BC if your starting point is;
    - create blank site in BusinessCatalyst (webMarketing) and then create a site in Muse and publish on this BC site. It seems you then automaticly get the Business Catalyst in browser editing function.
    - create a Muse site > publish to BC. Then it is a webbasic site..  and you get in browser editing the Adobe Muse style.
What's the way to go if your client need a site with the simple Muse in browser editing but a higher level BC then webBasic?
    Thanks.

    Hello Rene,
You can choose to create a site in Muse first and publish to BC, the site will be created as a web basics site. The web basics site also contains In Browser Editing in it. There's no relation between site plan and In Browser Editing. Once published, you can simply contact us via chat and we can upgrade the site plan for you as per your choice while still keeping the site in trail, should you choose to upgrade your site plan to Web marketing (or any other BC plan). To reach the Muse chat department directly, you can go to this page and select Adobe muse from the dropdown: http://helpx.adobe.com/contact/index.html
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • With Muse, can you use In-browser editing of websites using Third-party Hosting Service Providers or not?

On this page:http://www.adobe.com/inspire/2013/12/in-browser-editing-muse.html, it says you must use Adobes hosting. On this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/muse/using/in-browser-editing-websites-third-party-hosting.html, it indicates you can purely from the title. Which is it?

    Hi Bob,
I found out how to do it, you drag the bounding box of the image container or rectangle to the edge of the browser boundary - as in the gray area around the edge - it snaps to it and the edges of the container go red to show this, and when its previewed it spans 100% of browser width. This video from Lynda explains how:
Creating the header and the footer (Updated) from the Course Designing a Portfolio Website with Muse
I can't upgrade as I have windows vista and the new version doesn't run on Vista, don't really want to buy a new computer just to run the latest Muse!
    Cheers!

  • Muse forms hosted on BC and embedded in Muse website hosted on third party host

Just wondering if there are any plans for Muse forms to be hosted on BC and able to embed on Muse website that is on a third party host? If this is already possible... how?  I know of another company that allows for forms (using their separate web form program) to be hosted through them and embedded in their web design software that can host a site elsewhere... just wasn't sure if Muse was able to do this too.   Thanks, I appreciate any help.

    Hi Davz,
You can use the Muse forms on a third party host. But if you create a form in BC and embed it in Muse, you can't use it on a third party host. It can be used on BC only.

  • HELP!!!  in-browser editing using third party host "530 Login incorrect."

I'm trying to set up in-browser editing for a company I designed a site for in Adobe Muse.  The weird thing is that I actually logged in with her credentials and was able to edit them.  I sent her all the info and she can't get in so I went to log-in and I get this message:
The username and password are invalid for your FTP server.
Please check them and try again.
    Server Message:
    "530 Login incorrect."
I went back and double checked everything.  I even created a new ftp user from C-panel on ipage and I still get the same message.  So very frustrating.

Can you share what sites are having this problem on login? If you don't want to share that in the public forum, you can use the "Get Help" link in the upper right corner of In-Browser Editing to provide the details privately with the team.
