Third party 802.11n adapter for iBook G4

Does anyone know of any third party adapters that will work with the Airport Extreme/Time Capsule and can be controlled using the Airport drop-down menu in the main menu bar?
Thanks

Alright, does anyone know of any good 802.11n adapters that at least work with the the Airport Extreme? I've checked out the QuickerTek products that claim to be compatible with the AEBS, but is there anything less expensive? There cheapest one is $90.

  • 802.11n Enabler for MacBook Pro not included

Apple's page about the Airport Extreme Base Station says, "Most new Mac computers ship with built-in 802.11n wireless support that can be easily enabled with the installation of enabler software included with new AirPort Extreme wireless base station (see sidebar)."
Yesterday I purchased the Airport Extreme 802.11n WiFi Wireless Base Station (Model MB053ZA/A A1143). I have installed it OK and it is running fine. But I now want to "enable" 802.11n on my MacBook Pro but can not figure out how to do it.
I have searched everywhere through the box and looked everywhere on the one install disk (disk version 2.1 2Z681-6107-A) but I can not find anything that looks like enabler software for the WiFi network card in my MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo. The en1 page in Network Utility shows Model: Wireless Network Adapter (802.11 a/b/g).
How is the enabler normally shipped in the AirPort Extreme wireless base station package? On a separate disk? On the install disk? As a free download?

There were several MacBook Pro models with 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo processors. Your computer must be have a Core 2 Duo processor to qualify for the enabler.

There is only a single installation disk that is provided with the base station. The enabler software is located within the AirPort.mpkg package. There is a download, but it is not free. (ref: AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler for Mac)

  • How do you add a third party sensor to LabVIEW for Lego Mindstorms?

I recently purchased an IR Sensor from Mindsensors (DIST-Nx-Long-v3) which I need for a SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping Application) that I am developing using the LabVIEW for Lego Mindstorms software.  I installed the Mindsonsors IR Sensor, and it works under NXT-G and RobotC, but am having trouble finding a way to get LabVIEW for Lego Mindstorms to install the sensor.
The Mindsensors website gives the following instructions for installing the IR Sensor:
    1.Unzip the folder mindsensors.com LVEE
2.Open a blank vi in LVEE
3.On the Block Diagram Go to Tools->Advanced->Edit Palette Set...
Unfortunately, on the Block Diagram of the LabVIEW for Lego Mindstorms, there is no "Advanced->Edict Palette Set" under Tools.
As an alternative, I consulted the documentation that came with LabVIEW for Lego Mindstorms.  The Schematic Editor of LabVIEW for Lego Mindstorms lists several sensors, i.e. the Lego Mindstorms sensors and several Hi-Teach (HT) sensors, but there are no procedures listed in the documentation for adding other third party sensors to the Functions Palette.
So, how does one go about adding a third party sensor to LabVIEW for Lego Mindstorms?

    Hi Ethan,
As you can see from my Word document, I am a little light on the proper terminology.  That's because LVLM comes with inadequate documentation.
I have already followed your recommended protocol for installing a 3rd party sensor (in fact, its the protocol recommended by Mindsensors) with the application set in the Remote Mode (.lvrbt), and it does create a sub-palette with all the Mindsensors functions on it.  But when I drag the Mindsensors icon to the Block Diagram and select "Distance Sensor," the Distance Sensor (an IR sensor) doesn't work (even though the Mindsensor's Distance Sensor does work with NXT-G, RobotC and LVLM under other circumstances (see below)).
If I repeat the above process with the application set in the Direct Mode (.vi), I also get the sub-palette with all the Mindsensors functions on it.  When I drag the Mindsensors icon to the Block Diagram and select "Distance Sensor," the Distance Sensor does work.
What I need for my mapping application is for the Distance Sensor to work in the Remote Mode.  I called NI tech support and the first engineer told me to simple drag the Mindsensors Functions (.vi) onto the Block Diagram.  I did this, but when I selected the Distance Sensor, the icon appeared, but the sensor did not work.  Since I have no idea what's under the hood of the vi or a function, I assumed that simply dragging the vi/function onto the desktop didn't install the vi/function properly.  I went back to the Applications Engineer, and he confessed that he did not understand the LVLM product.
My frustration is being punted to new people, none of whom so far (other than you, of course) understand LVLM.

I don't know that is a huge number of alternatives for Fractal plugins.  You'll no doubt come across links for Fractalius and Genuine Fractals, but the first produces interesting strand like effects (after a very long wait) and the second is an image resize plugine which now belongs to On One, and is sold as Perfect Resize.  And even that has been made irrelevant by the Preserve Details upres option in CC.
You are alos wize to be careful.  Previous trusable sites like cnet on softonic are a nightmare nowdays, and too many of the free apps you find on them come loaded with malware.  Some of it _serious_ malware DAMHIKIJKOK
But have a look at Fractal Explorer.  I don't have experience with it, but it comes with the Pixel Bender name behind it, which is like a badge of excellence.

  • Will there be a 802.11n enabler for my core duo MBP in the future????

I bought this mbp for 2400. and you are telling me i cant even take advantage of the 802.11n when it comes out. Does anyone have NEWS on whether the core duos will have support for the 802.11n.

<hr>i hope we mbp CD owners can swap the non 802.11n cards for the newer 802.11n cards in the mbp C2D... let's see.
actually it would be nice if someone from apple could post here if that's possible, and if not, why....<hr>
Based on Apple's past track record, I don't see it happening. However, as I've pointed out in at least one other thread, all hope is not lost: For $119 you can get an 802.11n ExpressCard from Belkin. With the Airport card in the MBP turned off, you'll probably get about the same battery life.

  • Does anyone recommend a third party app called siri-for-iphone-4?

I saw a third party app called siri-for-iphone-4 which is supposed to add siri to older iphone 4, but do not know if it is suitable or useable.

Is it an app that you can download from the App Store? If it is not, it would require that you jailbreak your phone which would void your warranty. Definitely not worth it, in my opinion.l

For any who have been waiting for upgrades for older intel machines Quickertek has new user installable 802.11n cards for iMacs & MacBooks.

This has been said many times, but I'll say it again: Unless you're having them do the installation, the QuickerTek cards are a rip-off. You can save $100 by buying a Mac Pro Airport Extreme Upgrade card for $49. It's the same card that QuickerTek is selling for their MacBook, MacBook Pro, and iMac upgrades, which means they're getting about a 200% markup.

  • Wireless 802.11n card for iMac G5

I am running a 802.11n wireless network (linksys) with WPA Personal security. Is there any USB or internal adapter to allow a wireless connection to my home network. I have a iMac G5 Power mac 8.2 and the airport card worked fine with the g class network? Apple's official stance is that they do not provide or support any external or 3rd party device to assist. They suggest I drop back dwon to a g network. So much for cutting edge...

rottencore, Welcome to the discussion area!
There is no internal solution. For an external USB solution, look at Quickertek.

  • Configuration of AirPort Extreme Using Third Party LAN Ethernet Adapter?

    Hello;
I am trying to set up my own wireless connection, not without great consternation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is my current situation:
Subscribed to DSL service - installation went well, and it works fine on two other computers (that are not wireless). Installed same in computer that will use airport extreme, and it shows a connection, but won't load the browser pages.
Airport Extreme Base Station is working, software installed, etc., but computer doesn't offer airport as a connection choice in system preferences, internet connect, Airport set-up assistant, etc. (because there's no airport card installed????). Consequently, I can't finish w/airport set-up assistant.
I'm using a third party LAN ethernet wireless adapter since I was told airport cards for my G-4 are no longer made. Adapter and software installed, and shown to be working.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks

  • Mapping handling in third party vs SAP PI for EDI 850

    Hi Experts,
Can I know Pros and Cons for hanling mapping translations in third party vs handling mapping translations in SAP PI for EDI 850 interface.
We are already paying money to third party. I just need pros and cons.. we will choose best approch based on your valuable points
    Appreciate your help.
    Regards,
    Krishna.

    Hi Mohan,
    Pros:
SAP PI is a middleware and all Middlewares work pretty much on the same principles.
I am assuming that EDI 850 would have some sort of structure, [ to be honest I have not worked on EDI but just read about it] and SAP PI would require you to convert this structure into XML -> the only language SAP PI understands.
Now, I am sure there are lots of third party adapters available in the market for EDI. PI will give you flexibility to convert this interface into any kind of requirement be it JDBC/FILE/IDOC or anything and vice versa is also true. PI give you this enormous ability to convert to and from any format as long as it is viable.
Last but not the least, it will provide a robust system with Alerting and Monitoring.
Cons: You may have to invest on a third party adapter to read the EDI
You can read the following links for more abt EDI and SAP PI:

  • AirPort Extreme 802.11n* Enabler for Mac

I just downloaded the enabler for my 20" iMac and when I try to install it, it states "Your computer does not meet the hardware requirements for this update." It's my understanding that only the 17" iMac and the Mac mini aren't supported. Anyone else experience this?

If you recently got you imac and it's a core 2 duo, check if you already have it installed using this quote form appleinsider.com
The company recommends that customers check to make sure that their Mac does not already have the 802.11n enabler installed before purchasing the software patch. To do so, Intel Mac owners should open the "Network Utility" application (found in the Applications > Utilities folder), choose "Network Interface (en1)" under the "Info" tab, and then inspect the information provided under "Model: Wireless Network Adapter." If it says "(802.11a/b/g/n)," the Mac already has the 802.11n enabler installed. If it says (802.11a/b/g), the Mac does not have the 802.11n enabler installed.

  • How to get 802.11n speed for Apple TV?

I installed my first Apple TV yesterday. Great stuff!
My iTunes movie library is on a Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro. I have not yet used the AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler on this MacBook, since I just found out it exists. If I use it, can I utilize 802.11n sync speeds with the Apple TV? How?
My AirPort network uses only an "old" 802.11g AirPort Extreme base station, not the "new" AirPort Extreme base station with 802.11n.
I have three 802.11g AirPort Express base stations on my network, mainly for using AirTunes.
My iMac connects to my wireless network using 802.11g, and I don't think the 802.11n Enabler works with it.
My cable modem current connects to my Airport Extreme (802.11g) base station via Ethernet.
I understand I can get a new AirPort Extreme 802.11n base station to replace the 802.11g one, and that would let me use the higher 802.11n speed from the MacBook to the Apple TV. It would also allow (unless I misunderstand) all my 802.11g devices to access the network at the lower speeds they are capable of. Correct?
I also understand there is something called a "dual band network" that involves using both base station types in one large network, but I don't know what the advantage of doing that would be, compared with just replacing the old base station. Can someone fill me in on that?
And, is there any way to get 802.11n speeds from the MacBook Pro to the Apple TV without getting an 802.11n base station?
    Thanks in advance.

If I use it, can I utilize 802.11n sync speeds with the Apple TV? How?
And, is there any way to get 802.11n speeds from the MacBook Pro to the Apple TV without getting an 802.11n base station?
No. Unless you set up an adhoc network between your Mac and the Apple TV.
I understand I can get a new AirPort Extreme 802.11n base > station to replace the 802.11g one, and that would let me > use the higher 802.11n speed from the MacBook to the Apple > TV.
    Yes, it would.

If you set things up this way, then I believe you wont be able to use wideband mode on the AEBSn. Your AEBSn will be opperating in mixed mode and its 802.11n performance will be degraded. The best set up would be to keep your old router to service the G only devices, and have your new AEBSn service the N capable devices. This would allow you to take full advantage of the performance increase provided by 802.11n capable devices.

  • Prevent Third Party / Sales order stock for blocked vendors

    Hi Experts.
We have scenarios for Third party processing and Sales order stock. We have a scenario of a fixed vendor for a material. The purchasing function frequently does block vendors for purchasing.
However, we find that this does not prevent creation of a third party / sales order stock item in the sales order and a PR is generated. It is only found during the PR --> PO conversion that the vendor is blocked at which time someone has to manually reject the line items.
Is there a way to prevent the system from being able to generate a PR for a blocked vendor ? I guess one possibility is to enhance the requirement routine for PR creation. Is there any other approach ?
    Appreciate your help
    Regards
    Rohit Zalani

    Hi
In MK05, block vendor for all Purchasing org and Select Block Function = 03     Block quot. req., order, goods receipt
If you do this setting then user will get error message that "Vendor is blocked" and "Purchase requisition could not be generated for component".

  • Third party PO Process -Looking for better solutions

what would be best solution for the below business process
    We have one corporate headquarters(A) which has 3 plants(Plants X,Y and Z).
Corp.HQ (A) deals negotiation with one supplier directly and buys the materials and responsible for the payment.
but the goods should be directly delivered to the plants ...not to Corp.HQ
At the same time the receiving plants, intern have to pay to the corp.HQ for the same.
I can think of 2 step process for this process
Step 1 : Creating Third party PO between Corp.HQ and Supplier
Step 2 : Creating a Stock transport order /Intercomp order between Corp.HQ and receiving plants
But is there any solution with Single step or any other better solution for this process?
    Thanks in advance
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kesavan

The first step is not ok in my opinion, since the goods will be posted for consumption, so there will be no stock to be transferred via the intercompany STO (2nd step in your process).
In SAP it is possible to use central purchasing organisation. What if the HQ would be represented in the purchasing process as a central purch. org. and it would issue a "normal" PO to the vendor (one PO: vendor --> manufacturing plant)?
In this case you should solve the payment process only (HQ --> vendor; plant --> HQ) - if the HQ would be set as invoicing party in the PO, the payment between HQ and plant would be solved. In the vendor's SO the HQ should be set as payer/invoicing address, the HQ would receive the invoice and eneter it w/o any PO (but enter the real PO number as reference).
You would need some development to integrate the two incoming invoices not to have discrepancy.
    Just an idea...
