Third party applications not working

So I had to get a new pearl the other day and everything is the same, but had to redownload my third party apps (like tsn, cnn, etc.). none of them work, they just say redirecting and then waiting and never go to the site, but if I go to that applications website through the browser it works. I figure something in my settings is incorrect for the third-party apps not to work? tried a few different things but nothing seems to help.
can anyone (please) help?

What does it say if you go to About This Mac -> More Info -> Graphics & Displays -> Pixel Depth
1: Try resetting the PRAM.
2: Go to System Preferences -> Displays -> Color -> Select another profile or calibrate
3: Go to System Preferences -> Universal Access -> Slide the Contrast bar all the way to the left
Might end up just being a plist to snag though.

Hi,
i've installed third party application outside from AppStore. i chosen "Anywhere" option on Gate keeper. however its not proper installation process hence how can i install? if i install third party application which is get .DMG file from some one else and installed. if i install those application its not displaying inside the Application folder on my Mac OS X 10.8.3.

if i double click on Xcode icon, Xcode application lauched immediatly. however Xcode is not there in the Application folder.
Because you didn't drag and drop copy the app into the Applications folder, so your running it from the DMG instead.
A DMG is basically a disk image volume, like any other seperate hardware volume like a USB thumb drive, a external hard drive, or another partition, except it's virtual and based all in software.
If you don't know your way around a computer you shouldn't be using Xcode to begin with.

Third Party Applications not Installing

Here is my problem, Every new third party app i try to install/open in my MacBook it doesn't work.
I just move the app to the Applications folder // try to open it from the downloads folder, it opens it on the dock, jumping without any window and when i click the icon at the dock it dissapears.
Tried several things:
- Checked that it happens with every new application that i download, they are free aplications and work in another mac. So it's not problem of the app i downloaded.
- Tried creating a new user with admin rights and downloading + opening an app. Same result.
- Disk utility Verify + Repair permisions on the boot disk, Still the same problem. Also checked that i've read/write permisions in the app folder.
- Tried to install the app in the two applications folder /applications and /users/XXXX/applications . Same result.
- Restarted/shutdown the system several times, updated the system software.
One thing that i've seen strange is that, when i try to delete an app installed with app cleaner, it shows me items in the Library preferences etc...etc... When i try with one of the new apps i tried to move to the app folder, it just shows the app.
This is why i think apps are not installing when i move them to the applications to the folder :S
Is there a way to see any logs of this so i can troubleshoot it a little more? Can anyone think of one reason why this is happening? I've an appointment in the Genius Bar Apple Store this week, but I was hoping you could help me without having to make the trip to the Apple Store.

Third party apps not working

so looks like my friends that have updated to 3.1.3 are having issues with launching their third party apps is there a way to fix this, i also have one but waiting on to see if apple can clarify if there is a problem before i update mine.

The issue is actually not related to the 3.1.3 update.
The issue occurs because the iPod or iPhone is unable to properly authenticate that you are the proper owner of the application. The apps are launched, the device checks who purchased the app, then checks if it has been authorized to continue. At some point in the process a mismatch occurs and the app quits. The easiest way of determining if this is your specific issue is to launch a native app (Phone, iCal, Contacts, etc) and verify that it launches, then launch a downloaded app (Skype, AIM, Facebook, etc) and verify that it quits shortly after launching.
Two possible ways of resolving the issue:
1) Trying to keep most application data, sync iPod/iPhone, deauthorize computer and sync again, reauthorize computer, and sync again. You may lose music on the iPod/iPhone until the final sync. Make sure it's all on your computer beforehand.
If that doesn't work,
2) Deauthorize computer, restore iPod/iPhone, authorize computer, set iPhone up as new device, then sync. This is the cleanest (and in my opinion the best) method but will also not preserve all application data (WIFI passwords, voicemail password, certain saved data within applications, SMS, etc).
To deauthorize and reauthorize your computer account, load iTunes and select the "Store" menu item.

Third party keyboard not working correctly.

I have hooked up a Kensington PilotBoard USB keyboard to my G4 PB 17". The regular keyboard keys (letters, numbers, shift keys) work but the function keys do not, and none of the key commands work. I've loaded the keyboard software, but when I open it, it indicates that no keyboard is detected.
Incidentally, I could not find the software on the Kensington website with the same model number (#64378), so I'm wondering if that could be it. Also, the regular keyboard on the laptop works fine.
Another observation: I'm still running Panther, but a friend who is running Tiger said his computer opened up a dialog box when he plugged in an older third party keyboard which helped him to match up the keyboard. Do I need to upgrade my operating system software?

Third party adapters not working

I bought two different adaptors for my iPhone 5 (to be able to use my old 30-pin cables) and I am pretty sure they worked when I first used them. However, after the latest iOS updates for the iPhone 5 and the iPad 4, neither adaptor works. My devices will not charge with wall chargers (nothing happens when I plug them in, not even the warning "Not Charging"), nor are they recognized by the computer if I connect them to it.
Any thoughts, suggestions, or similar experiences?

Apple sells these adaptors. When you purchase third party adaptors, you do so at your own risk. You might check with the seller or manufacturer.

3rd party applications not working (ie: word & photoshop) Help!

I have been using my macbook without problems for about 7 months now, but last week it started refusing to open 3rd party applications such as word, or photoshop. I tried every application that wasn't apple software and the only one that works now is ableton live. All the non-working applications are legal, i tried reloading the microsoft office software, and even though the reload was successful, the problem still exists when trying to open any of those applications.

Launch Disk Utility from the Applications/Utilities folder. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left. Now, tell her to look at the bottom of that page where it says: Capacity and Available. Rule of thumb... never allow free disk space to fall below 15 - 20%. It takes a minimum of 15% free disk space just to boot a Mac.
If that isn't the issue, because she can't open PS or Word, it might be a corrupted font that she has used in both those applications. Tell her to try this. She needs to find this file:
com.apple.FontBook.plist It's here: /Users/HerName/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file and drag it to the trash, empty the trash and reboot. It's ok to trash a pref file as any Mac will create a new one for her.

The cheap copies are rip offs that is why they are very cheap
buy the genuine Apple product and they work as designed
There are certain premium brand manufacturers just starting to release product
but they are licensed by Apple so will work

My gf's computer all of a sudden won't start any 3rd party apps like Photo Shop or Word. She's 2,500 miles away right now, so I don't have the ability to look myself, but I have no ideas. She clicks on them and they just bounce.
Please help me get a get out of jail card for future use!

How can I set up printing to queues on a Windows 2008 server directly from the iPad apps and not from third-party applications without using AppleTalk or Bonjour?

We have a Windows 2003/2008 server-based network with a dedicated print server which we would like to be able to print to over Wi-Fi. How can I set up the printers on the iPad without downloading a third party application such as Print Central or Print N Share? I want to just click the arrow and "Print" then choose the printer, which doesnt show up. I want to be able to use the existing TCP/IP-based network that we have to reach these queues, not having to install Bonjour or AppleTalk to reach them.

This would really be the "Holy Grail" right now. I think this a feature that every large organization requires. AirPrint works on a small scale, but is not really an enterprise class application. In addition it uses the Bonjour discovery process which is difficult in a large LAN WAN environment. For those that would remind me, I am aware of the enhancement link

Third party applications don`t work!!!!!!

Hi I really need help here I have a bb 9530 verizon(my uncle`s) cause my last phone broke a bb 9300 3G.i have set up the bb but I really don't know what I'm doing so every thing works fine except third party applications because when ever I go into a third party app for e.g... whatsapp it comes up with a message : <app name> has attempted to connect to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy. and after saying OK I get another message: unable to open folder.java.lang.SecurityException: Permission denied  that always happens!!!! Please help me I'm really getting tired of this.P.S I don't know much about where the phone came from(country)and I'm in south Africa and on mtn and I don`t know about the previous settings or any of that all I know is the model and that its my uncles so please help.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
What you have is a BB that was previously associated with a corporate/BES system, and the IT Policy that was placed onto the device by BES was never properly cleansed, even though the BB was removed from the BES system (cleansing the BB is NOT an automatic function). Until that is gone from the BB, you will have this problem.
The other problem you have is that the only remedy will totally wipe your BB clean of everything -- data, apps, configurations, etc. It will be as if it was brand new again, fresh from the factory. The problem here is that, from what you say, you probably don't know the first thing about what you need to do in order to proper re-configure after you cleanse the IT Policy off of the BB. So doing so could render your BB useless since you don't know any of the settings you would need to accomplish this task.
All in all, what you need to do is a rather complex set of things, requiring you to know what you are doing, and know the necessary configuration items in order to get your BB working again. If you are willing to undertake that mess, then we can give you the necessary procedure...if you are not willing, then you likely should seek out some paid support from someone who does know what they are doing and can perform the necessary steps for you.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Fonts not showing up in third party applications

Hello All-
I am running OS 10.9.2 on Active Directory and I have 370 total fonts (Typefaces) installed. If I am logged into a local Admin account everything is fine but if I log in as an AD user then I am missing fonts in third party applications such as Word, Indesign CS6 and Photoshop CS6. They all show up in Text Edit and FontBook but I cant seem to get them to come up in these other applications. I have checked permissions to the Library>Fonts folder and they are set correctly. This also happens if I install any fonts under an AD user to that users Library>Fonts folder. Fontbook installs it, the font is there and I can see it in the folder and fontbook, but nowhere else. Any ideas on this would be helpful.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION
I'm not sure if this is the cause for anyone else, but I had the same symptoms--almost no fonts showing up in InDesigns Font dropdown options.
THE SOLUTION: The new version of ID has two "font filter toggle button". They are the "Apply Favorite Filter", and "Apply Typekit Filter". It seem that in my install, the Typekit filter was on by default, which makes it so that the Font list only displays those fonts that originate from Typekit, as opposed to the thousand you have on your hard drive.
Click the toggle to turn off the filter and --zowee! All your fonts come right back.
I hope this helps some of you. It would also explain why people on both Macs and Windows boxes are having this issue.

Share an iCal calendar without a third party application

After perusing the iCal discussion forum, it seems that the only way to "share" a calendar with another person (whether or not they have a MobileMe account) is to use Google Calendars or some other third party application. It seems like there would be a lot of users that want to "share" calendars and not just publish their calendars for others to see. The most common situation seems to be the sharing of a calendar with a spouse. Google makes this possible without charging a cent and you don't even have to dig to figure out how to do it. Naturally, because I love my Mac and the way all of my Apple programs interconnect, I want to avoid a third party solution. Is there a solution to this problem built into iCal (or maybe something to do with MobileMe) that I have simply overlooked? If not, how can we get Apple to include this feature in a future update of iCal?

I just spent the weekend setting this up for me and my wife. Unfortunately, you MUST use a 3rd party application. Like you have, I have spent the last month doing extremely refined Google searches in the hopes I would find the answer.
So, I migrated our calendars to Google and this seems to be working well. Synchronization is not as instantaneous as MM but every 5 minutes is not that bad.
