Third Party Apps Not Opening on iPhone 5 using iOS 6.0.2

I have an iPhone 5 and am using iOS 6.0.2 and recently certain third party apps like Facebook, Instagram, Shazzam for instance, no longer open.  When I tap on the app, the app comes up on the screen for about a second, and then closes.  What's strange is that I've been using iOS 6.0.2 and have also been using the most updated versions of the apps without any issues.  The crashing started happening around last Friday.  Here's what I've tried to do to fix the problem so far but none of these options have worked:
- I restarted my phone by holding down the home button and the lock button.
- I turned my phone off and turned it on again.
- I deleted the apps and reinstalled them and then restarted my phone.
- I downloaded a random free app, opened it, and then tried opening the apps that kept crashing.
- I restored my phone and synced it using the most recent back up I had, which was from earlier that day.
I did find a temporary solution, that allows the apps to open but I think it's because the apps are not the most recent versions.
- I restored my phone and set it up as a new phone.  The phone then downloaded all of the apps again and re-synced everything.  The apps did open after that however, when I went to the app store, it said that I had 24 available updates.  I updated all of the apps to their most up to date versions and then noticed that they once again stopped opening and would crash almost immediately after launching them.
- I then restored my phone again and set it up as a new phone and did not update the 24 apps and all but one of them work.  The only app that I've noticed that still doesn't work is the Blackboard Eats app.  It still crashes almost immediately after launching it.
I took my phone to the Genius Bar this weekend (which is where I was told to restore the phone and set it up as a new phone).  I'm thinking that the issue is purely a software issue, but is there any chance that it could be a hardware issue?
I suppose I could just not update the apps, but I'm hoping there's a better solution than that.  What's weird is that the phone was working with iOS 6.0.2 and all of the most up to date versions of the apps less than a week ago and it seems that somehow, overnight, they stopped working.
Is anyone else running into this problem?  Has anyone found a solution?
Thanks in advance,
Kevin

The music player does not remember where the last session ended.  I have about 1000 songs on my iPhone.  I play the songs in the Shuffle mode - and it worked fine on iOS 5.x.  Ever since I updated to iOS 6.0, the shuffle seems to be seriously broken.  It repeats the song sequence of previous session in the exact order instead of starting from where the session ended.  God forbid if your last session was 10-25 songs long - you'll have to hit the Next song so many times to listen to something that you have not heard for a while.

  • Does anyone recommend a third party app called siri-for-iphone-4?

I saw a third party app called siri-for-iphone-4 which is supposed to add siri to older iphone 4, but do not know if it is suitable or useable.

Is it an app that you can download from the App Store? If it is not, it would require that you jailbreak your phone which would void your warranty. Definitely not worth it, in my opinion.l

You do use Siri. Hold the home button until Siri responds and say "Define bottle". Same thing, no?
    Hope that helps

  • Third Party apps not syncing properly after IOS8 download

I have an IPhone 5 and recently (within last 3 days) downloaded IOS8.  I have a third party app for my passwords (Password Keeper) that I can no longer access.  I tap on the app and it opens briefly then closes.  It has also been "updating" that app for 3 days now, but it just continues to download, install, download, install, etc.
Has anyone else had this type of problem?

Try signing out of the app store and back in.
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

  • Third party apps not working

so looks like my friends that have updated to 3.1.3 are having issues with launching their third party apps is there a way to fix this, i also have one but waiting on to see if apple can clarify if there is a problem before i update mine.

The issue is actually not related to the 3.1.3 update.
The issue occurs because the iPod or iPhone is unable to properly authenticate that you are the proper owner of the application. The apps are launched, the device checks who purchased the app, then checks if it has been authorized to continue. At some point in the process a mismatch occurs and the app quits. The easiest way of determining if this is your specific issue is to launch a native app (Phone, iCal, Contacts, etc) and verify that it launches, then launch a downloaded app (Skype, AIM, Facebook, etc) and verify that it quits shortly after launching.
Two possible ways of resolving the issue:
    1) Trying to keep most application data, sync iPod/iPhone, deauthorize computer and sync again, reauthorize computer, and sync again. You may lose music on the iPod/iPhone until the final sync. Make sure it's all on your computer beforehand.
    If that doesn't work,
    2) Deauthorize computer, restore iPod/iPhone, authorize computer, set iPhone up as new device, then sync. This is the cleanest (and in my opinion the best) method but will also not preserve all application data (WIFI passwords, voicemail password, certain saved data within applications, SMS, etc).
To deauthorize and reauthorize your computer account, load iTunes and select the "Store" menu item.
    Hope this helps,
    Brian

  • Numbers quit unexpectedly while using the SFCompatibility plug-in? Do I need a third party app to open this xls?

Numbers quit unexpectedly while using the SFCompatibility plug-in.
Do I need a third party app? Can't find any info on web without that as only option.

Numbers is able to open xls and xlsx files, but you may find greater compatibility with some on the Excel features in one of the OpenOffice.org based applications, OpenOffice.org, Libre Office or Neo Office. All three are available on the web. One requires a recent donation for the most recent version.

  • Apps not opening on iphone 4 with new IOS 6.1 upgrade

Ever since I update my IOS on my iphone 4 to 6.1, My applications are not opening properly. Most of the time the will appear as if they are opening but nothing loads up in them. I have tried various resets and nothing has fixed it. I hope this bug gets fixed soon. It's super annoying.
The phone often times will become unresponsive.
In addition to the app issue and the unresponsivness , My battery life has diminished severely. I used to go 2 days without charging my phone but now i dont think i will make it half a day. I'm sure im not the only one having these issues.

Thanks - for some reason I thought several functions of Siri was available, but I guess I was incorrect.

  • Can I set a third party app to open PDFs in my iPad 4?

Is it possible to replace the default PDF viewer with a third part app on an iPad?  When I click on a PDF link in Safari, for example, the default viewer displays the PDF, instead of thr third part PDF app I've purchased.  The app I'm using is PDF Expert, but my question is more general.
    Thanks,
      Dave

No way to change the viewer in Safari, however you should get an "Open in" button at the top left of the PDF once its open.  Tap it and you'll get a list of Apps that can open the PDF so you can transfer it to them.

  • Third party apps not launching

I'm at my wit's end with this. I would like to preface this by saying I've searched through the forums for an resolution to this problem to no avail.
I am using both the current version of the iPhone and iTunes software. I get various error messages when I try to sync (e.g., "device error", "duplicate file", "unknown error", you name it). I have even gone through something as drastic as reinstalling my operating system to factory conditions and reinstalling iTunes and the same thing. Of course the guys at the genius bar don't have a satisfactory solution to this problem so I have been sent home with a replacement unit the three times I have gone to see them.
The various error messages on iTunes, while irritating, has not affected my ability to use my apps. Now, I tap on an icon to launch an app and it does nothing. Two seconds later, I'm back to my home screen. The only apps I'm able to use are the apps which came with the phone.
I'd like to know what's going on. What is the fix for this? What can I do to avoid something like this occurring again in the future?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

It sounds like you have lost your "permissions" for your apps. A similar thing happened to me last year on my 3GS. The only thing that fixed it was restoring my phone from a backup before I had the problem. I hope you get it sorted.

  • How do you download third party apps (widgets) onto the iphone?

i have a cool new iphone. when i go to http://iphonewidgetlist.com/ there are lots of cool 3rd party apps which i would like to download but i can't figure out how to download anything nor do i understand how to transfer said 'download' to the iohone. any ideas?

What you're looking at are web pages, expressly designed to run on the iPhone Safari browser's miniature screen. "Weblets", if you will.
It is extremely unfortunate that people started calling them by the cute, but misleading name of "widget", since that really refers to something different.
Anyway, you're expected to either bookmark your favorite weblets, or at least bookmark one of the pages that act as home pages for your favorites.
(The latter are trying to look like the real Home page, which is where everyone wants these. And to tell the truth, it would make perfect GUI sense to let you place such a bookmark on your Home page, just as you can on a desktop. After all, the idea is to hide from the user what/where/how something works. But the iPhone is obviously still very much a work in progress.)

  • Apps not working on iphone after using itunes on pc

All my purchased Apps will not open after I connected my phone to iTunes on my laptop - this is the 1st time doing this despite having my phone for 18 months so I'm guessing that itunes carried out some software sync.
Anyone know how to remedy this?

When you say the apps don't open, are their icons still showing, or are they gone?  And do you mean you never synced your iPhone before?
