Third Party Drivers needed!

Sometimes I hate upgrading my OS, because of all the things that stop working after EVERY upgrade.
I have been using Macs since '84 and Mac OS 4.1, and every time I upgrade, some hardware and software stop working after the upgrade.
Sometimes it is major, like going from OS 6 to OS 7, or OS 7 to OS 8 and of course every major version of OS X.
Part of problem is getting upgraded drivers for OS X, and some times I can go to the product manufacturer for new drivers, but not always.
Where can I go for Third Party Drivers when the product manufacturer doesn't want to make them?
Is there someplace that has lots of Third Party Drivers for printers, scanners and keyboards, Etc?
I have stuff that still works fine in OS 9 but not in OS X. Like a UMAX Astra 3400 scanner, and other things that work OK, but I can't access utilities like a HP desk-jet 895 Cxi printer.
I don't want to have to buy all new hardware every time I upgrade the software, so I don't rush out and get the latest upgrades until they have been around for awhile.
It would be nice to have somewhere to go for all these problems, as well as when I buy a new piece of hardware and it doesn't come with needed Mac drivers at all.
Any ideas here?

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The problem occurs just as much because products get discontinued as drivers becoming outdated. However, many open source companies are making drivers now. I would check my FAQ:
http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html
To find out if any of your devices have available updates.
And note when updating only to do so when you absolutely need to do so. Reasons for need are usually software and hardware which improve your productivity that are only available on new hardware, or inability to find older hardware when your previous machine dies. As long as you backup your data before any updates, software issues should be minimal as my FAQ explains since you'll be able to restore your backup if an upgrade messes up your drivers:

  • Install third-party drivers in 3.2

    Hi all,
after (clean) installing SQLDev 3.2, I'm unable to add third-party drivers in the automated way (from Tools/Prefs/Ext/Check for up):
    - tried (multiple times) with MSS and MySQL drivers,
    - pop-up window (licenc-agrement) appears and
    - nothing else happens.
Checking the <profile>\SqlDev mappa shows a dir named "temp\update" has just created and it contains the expected files (eg. oracle.sqldeveloper.thirdparty.drivers.sqlserver.58.17.zip) with 0 bytes.
    Any idea?
    OS: Win7(x64), Java(TM) Platform     1.7.0_09, Oracle SQL Developer 3.2.20.09 Build MAIN-09.87.
(Manual installation of this drivers works fine.)
    Thanx,
    M. Zsolt.

    Thanks,
I guess there is some problems with the update center: drivers also cannot be installed with JDK 1.6.37 and other extensions install normally.
    BTW:
SQLDev works quite well with JDK1.7 (at least, I didn't find any "big" errors, some minor bugs are out there, of course),
moreover, it works also with MySQL-connector-5.1.22 :) - even though it's stated in the Rel.notes: "Do not use the latest MySQL driver 5.1. Use the 5.0.x drivers for MySQL."

  • How to create a pop up calendar in adobe acrobat or any other adobe tool  via adobe javascript  ?No third party tools needed(Eg:formrouter)

I want to create a pop up calendar in adobe acrobat or any other adobe tool  via adobe javascript  in a PDF form .
I wish to create the calendar without any third party tool.
I found few options like formrouter and also pdf scripting.
But I was to create the calendar via pure Adobe Javascript. If no such option is there  inbuilt pop up calendar control in any adobe tool to design the PDF form and afterwards save the same as PDF.

All 3 of the options provide are all JavaScript. There is no plug-in used. You do need to place the JavaScript code text file into a special folder so that the menu and tool bar tools that allow execution of the JavaScript code and associate the pop-up calendar with a specific field.

  • Installing third party drivers not in instr.lib

    Hi,
    (LabVIEW 2013 SP1)
We are using LabVIEW to develop on multiple stations and we use source code control application to control the version and compatibility of the VI's.
We are using many third party (not NI) instruments and we "install" their drivers at -
    C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2013\instr.lib
This creates some difficulties since this folder is external with respect to the SCC application so this resource is not version controlled, whether someone downloads a different version or one add/changes another feature.
It will be easier also to copy the development folder from one computer to the other.
    1. Is it possible to change the default behavior of LabVIEW Environment to load drivers to the Intrument Drivers palette?
    2. What do you recommend ?
    Amitai.

There are a few options here for you.
    1. Just put the drivers in your project folder and edit them to look at their new location instead of instr.lib.  That should be just a matter of loading them and resolving the conflicts.
    2. Use VIPM to make packages of the drivers and then everybody can install the packages.  This way they know what version is getting installed.

  • Burning Blu-ray disks.  Third party hardware needed?

I have read from earlier posts that it is not possible to burn Blu-ray© disks from DVDSP. Can third party hardware be purchased to burn such a disk having assembled the digital assets in DVDSP? Any recommendations?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your responses. I see that from DVD SP Late-Breaking news that'HD DVD projects authored by DVD SP 4.0.3 fully comply with the 1.0 version of he HD DVD specification...the new HD DVD standard. The disks will play on Apple DVD Player version 4.6.5 or later.
I haven't commited to the Blu-ray© player, just the Sony HD camcorder.
When the time comes, I will burn to a red laser disc per the Apple recommendation. And thanks for the Roxio link which makes it clear that a PC is needed for Blu-ray©

  • Third-party drivers with kernel updates

I am using a third-party driver for my wireless card because the driver that comes with the kernel doesn't work too well. The problem is that whenever I update the kernel, the driver does not get included... it sits in the old kernel directory. Is there a way to have mkinitcpio grab drivers from an external folder location? Currently after every update, I have to make a symbolic link to the drivers and then run depmod -a, which is getting old.
    I appreciate any help. Thanks!

what third party driver? i dont think there is a provision to have the driver automatically built.
you are supposed to build the driver against the new kernel headers every time. not just symlink the .ko file in the new kernel modules directory. if its a binary blob. you might run into problems later on.
how did you get this  .ko module in the first place?

  • Conflict between third party drivers

    I've been starting to get those error-messages that says;
"Logic Pro has detected a possible conflict between one or more third party MIDI or audio drivers.
Be sure to install the latest drivers for all audio and MIDI equipment connected to your computer, and remove any older unused drivers."
Then I have an option to press "OK", I do and it appears 3-4 times, and then eventually Logic Pro starts up, but all is very slow. After a reboot it disapears, but as soon as I restart Logic it comes back again.
I tried to disconnect every unit, remove and re-install every driver, but it's still there.
I'm using a Powermac 2 x 2.0 with a MOTU soundcard, and I hava an old MT4 connected. Anyone who experienced a similar situation?
    Thanks in advance.

I have looked in Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers and there is just one file called EmagicUSBMIDIDriver.plugin - can this be causing the problem?
    Nothing on User/YourName/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers.
I have found 3 AVID folders on Applications:
    - Avid MetaSync Manager
    - Avid MetaSync Publisher
    - Avid_Uninstallers
    Shall I remove these?
There is also an empty folder called Digidesign on User/Library/Audio/Plugins
I have tried it with the M-Audio card connected and selected in Logic, and it doesn't work.

  • Third Party Vista Drivers that w

If you want my advice, stop waiting for creative to ship drivers and get the third party drivers over at the kX Project Site. Unlike Creative they're actually releasing beta drivers for Vista and whats more they offer advanced settings that creative will never release in their drivers.
    The site is here:
    http://kxproject.com/
The first thing to check out is to make sure the driver supports your model:
    http://kb.kxproject.lugosoft.com/list.html
You'll notice there is even support for cards that creative have officially announced that there is no planned vista support for.
The latest beta drivers (version 3538l at time of post) that have Vista support are here:
    http://www.driverheaven.net/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=74.
A note of warning, these drivers are aimed at professional audiophiles (the exact ones creative seem to snub these days) and so the amount of settings may be a little overwhelming, but trust me, it's worth the learning curve. But hey, being Vista early adopters you're probably a bit savvy anyway.
Personally I've found the kX drivers drivers much more stable on my configuration. As an example, I have a Creative Audigy card in my docking bay and the creative drivers prevent my laptop from undocking (eventually causing vista to blue screen). The kX drivers on the other hand close correctly and allow my laptop to be undocked.
My personal opinion is that the result of Creative not running a proper public beta system is that the Creative drivers will be largely incompatible with many hardware configurations on release. Sure they may have the drivers going nicely with their own in house hardware but the advantage of public betas is that you are able to test on a huge install base of weird and wonderful configurations.
I'd bet that as an example the creative drivers still cause problems with docking stations when they're finally released for Vista. Mark my words!
I sincerely hope you all get your cards working well with Vista and these drivers. If you do please make a reply to this thread stating so. This way Creative have a record of the number of users that have given up hope on them. The added side affect will be to keep this thread towards the top of the message board for others to see.

For SBLi've, EMU APS, Audigy, Audigy2 and SB 52 cards?uhh . . I don't see Xfi on the list in the driver. Am I missing something?

  • Possible conflict between one or more third party midi or audio drivers

just wondering if anyone has any new info about this error yet. i can't resolve it and still can't open many of my logic 7 files.

    thanks for responding.
i have many times removed and or re-installed all of the midi drivers.
this problem occurs even without any midi or audio drivers in the system. this has been a problem since logic 8 came out for me and others. one user sent some L7 file sto apple and he said that evn apple support has reproduced the problem. that was last year.
i was just hoping that there might be some new info out there.
    thanks
    Hi,
In this case, I recommend you do a clean install of your operating system. Make sure you back up your important data beforehand.
Afterwards, install Logic 8, and test it with the internal audio only. In other words do NOT install any third party drivers of any kind.
This should work very well. If it does not, then I would suspect your motherboard has issues, and should be replaced by Apple.
    Cheers

  • Using a Third Party JDBC Driver that has dependencies [Version 2.1.1.64]

I am trying to connect to a TRIP database (a product from Tietoenator). They offer a JDBC driver which I have already used in java applications. So I can confirm that it works. What makes that driver perhaps a bit special is that it needs 3 other jars to operate.
So I need these jar files
<li> tripjdbc.jar (this is the actual jdbc driver)
    <li> tripjtk.jar
    <li> triputil.jar
    <li> xercesImpl.jar
I have tried to place all of those jars into the Tools > Preferences > Database > Third Party Drivers dialogue [as suggested here|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/thirdparty.htm]. But that does not help.
Following the docs of Tietoenator I need those 3 libraries in the path of the java app the JDBC driver shall be used from. This is where I currently fail. How can I add those to the classpath of the SQL Developer? I assume it is a *.conf file somewhere in the SQL Developer home directory ... ?
    Thank you for any suggestion.
EDIT: I am using SQL Developer on a windows box. May be of interest.

  • How to install third-party SSD as boot disk in MacPro 5,1

I had so much trouble with this that I thought I'd post a recipe that others could follow.
The first thing you should know is that it's not possible to get a non-Apple SSD recognized in a sled slot of a MacPro 5,1.  It just doesn't see them at all, even if (as some suggested) previously partitioned as a GUID partition (which works in a MacBook Pro, but not a MacPro 5,1).  This is true even with the most up-to-date EFI firmware.  You're going to have to use a PCIe adapter card.
The next thing you should know is that not all PCIe SATA3 SSD adapter cards are bootable on a MacPro 5,1.  For instance, even though the Sonnet Tempo SSD is advertised as working for a boot drive in a Mac Pro, it actually works in any Mac Pro *except* the 5,1.  In a 5,1 drives on the card do not work as boot drives, either with option boot or if you select it as the startup drive after booting from something else.  Also, EFI boot is extended by about a minute -- not the end of the world, but an annoyance.  The Tempo card does work well for add-on drives, its very fast.  I am pretty sure the Tempo Pro variant of the card also does not work, as the Sonnet support guys told me that they have to use use rEFIt for booting 5,1 MacPros in their lab.  I imagine if the Pro worked they would have pointed me at that instead.  (Note that rEFIt has been superseded by rEFInd, http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/.  I didn't try using rEFIt or rEFInd because I found a better way, but if you want to dual-boot to Linux those utilities are apparently Da Bomb.)
An Apricorn Velocity x2 Duo card *will* boot, and does not have a long EFI boot delay.  That card is a little more expensive than the Tempo SSD (but not the Tempo Pro SSD) but it works properly.  It's worth the extra money, especially since it's the only card I could find that explicitly claimed to work as a boot drive on a 5,1 MacPro.  And it does.
One caveat: With the Tempo SSD the SSD drives were invisible until repartitioned in GUID format, which also happens if you try to use a third-party SSD inside a Macbook Pro.  I found that I could repartition one drive, a Crucial MX500 960GB, using a run-of-the-mill USB SATA2 adapter.  Unfortunately this solution did not work with a Samsung Evo 1TB drive, I had to use an external USB3 enclosure.  Moreover, the enclosure supported both FireWire and USB3 but FireWire did not work.  This FireWire issue might be due to the super-cheap enclosure I was using, so YMMV, but keep in mind that it's possible that you'll need either a USB3 expansion card in the MacPro, or a different Mac, to perform the initial repartition to GUID format.
It's possible that SSDs would be visible on the Velocity card even before repartitioning, I don't know as both of my drives had been repartitioned prior to trying the Velocity.  So, it might work ... but you might need to partition externally.
I don't know if pre-partitioning is necessary with the Velocity card, as I only ever tried pre-partitioned drives with it.  If you try the Velocity and the drive isn't seen, that's the problem and you'll have to use an external SATA adapter of some sort to repartition before installing on the Velocity card.
After partitioning the drive and installing on the Velocity card, it worked fine.  Yosemite installed properly and with reboot it blazed.
Next up, TRIM support.  For some reason known only to Apple, the Apple AHCI driver refuses to enable TRIM support for anything other than Apple drives.  It's possible that there are or were bugs in some of the early SSDs and Apple is just playing it safe, although I would have preferred to have the option to enable TRIM or not if that's the case.  Unfortunately there is no such option, you have to use a substitute AHCI driver.
Unfortunately if you're using Yosemite you cannot use a substitute driver without disabling kext extensions, because Apple will not sign anyone else's driver (at least not at the time of this writing).  That's unfortunate, I would prefer to have signed extensions if I could, but realistically speaking you're no worse off in terms of security than you were with Mavericks so it's not the end of the world.  With a little luck Apple will either start supporting TRIM on third-party drives or starts signing third-party drivers sometime in the future.
So: Before you can start TRIMming drives, you first need to run this command, or something like it:
    sudo nvram boot-args=“kext-dev-mode=1”
I rather like seeing the boot process, rather than just the Apple logo, so I use this:
    sudo nvram boot-args=“-v kext-dev-mode=1”
I tried both Trim Enabler (http://www.cindori.org/software/trimenabler/) and Chameleon SSD Optimizer (http://chameleon.alessandroboschini.com/).  As of this writing the Chameleon driver is more up-to-date, and comes with some additional utilities that are pretty nice.  Take your pick, though, both worked fine in my experiments.
With a TRIM-enabled AHCI driver, kext signing disabled, a Velocity card, and your favorite SSD you are in business.
The only weird thing after all of this is that non-boot SSDs on the Velocity card (or on the Tempo) are ejectable.  As far as I can determine there’s no way to mark them as non-ejectable.  That’s a minor annoyance compared to the performance you get out of the SSD, though.
Because, with this stuff in there, yowza is the MacPro 5,1 a fast machine.  You Will Like It.  Enjoy!

    Then you should read these.
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1804704&highlight=sonnet+tempo+pro
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1721573&highlight=sonnet+tempo+pro
This was strange but has to do with how startup disk and nvram interact
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1795765
I think your problems were solvable and not that the Sonnet card and 5,1 is not bootable, in fact the 5,1 is easier, there are more supported cards.
I have the 1,1 where the Sonnet Pro is recommended but for data only and are not bootable because of the 32-bit EFI firmware. NOT the 4,1 and 5,1. The 2008's are problem child and have a mix of PCIe 1.1 slots, first implementation of EFI64 that also has problems. Also the 4,1 has two PCIe 2.x slots 3 and 4 that share a controller but that simply limits bandwidth.
I would have left the TRIM support and NVRAM changes in Yosemite to a separate thread if you wanted to focus on the Sonnet Tempo Pro support in Mac Pro 2010-12 5,1s.
Also the make of SSD can vary and they also have their own firmware as do bootable controllers along with the EFI of the Mac, all of which have to work together.  Meaning it might be that Samsung 840 va 840 EVO vs 840 Pro will all be slightly different but my experience is Samsungs work well (as do others like Crucial with the proper firmware - and there was/is an issue with the firmware of the Samsung 840 but not with booting).
The PCIe card gets seen and treated as external and therefore 'eject' but of course you can't when it is the system boot drive.
One thing I found last week and meant to mention:  After installing or changing PCIe cards, RESET SMC made all the difference in the world with the long boot delay. Some PCIe cards will add a few seconds, system has to search the device tree which now shows another controller with multiple devices - and sometimes NVRAM and SMC are what I will call "dirty" and need to be rebuilt and reset.

  • Third party process:Billing relevance 'B' order related and 122

I am facing the following problem: in Order related Billing according to order qty, the sales order bills what has been received on the third party PO in MM.
The following situation occurs: When I order 100, receive 100 and Bill 100: The sales order is fully billed. When I later return a quantity to the vendor in MM with a 122 referring to the PO, the sales order remains fully billed. There is no way I can find out which Sales order needs to be take action on (credit). Can someone help me finding out how I can select these sales orers after a 122?

    Ok, no problem.
At the client we have a very specific flow where receipts on a third party PO need to be billed daily when they happen and every receipt (better: any goods movement) needs a seperate billing document.
This is not covered in SAP standard. I wrote a program (functional) how SAP should find the billing relevant movements:
    1) Go to the billing due list daily at 0:00
    2) Check all related third party PO's and the movements
    3) Check the sales flow of the relevant SO. Check which material doc has been billed (via reference field in the billing doc)
    4) For all items not yet billed call function module GN_INVOICE_CREATE. (bill in case of 101 and 123 and credit in case of 102 and 122)
This works all fine until I found above issue: Fully billed items are removed from the billing due list even if there is a 122 or 102 afterwards on the PO. So I redesigned the program.
    1) at 0:00 Select all movements on the system date for the specific flow (PO type and plant) via Material documet header and segment.
    2) Via the account assignment in the material doc you have the Sales order. Then the same applies:
    3) Check the sales flow of the relevant SO. Check which material doc has been billed (via reference field in the billing doc)
    4) For all items not yet billed call function module GN_INVOICE_CREATE. (bill in case of 101 and 123 and credit in case of 102 and 122)
Here I am not using the due list and it solved my problem.

  • Open hub Destinations - Third-Party Tools As Destinations

Dear all, below is the SAP Help process flow steps. I am quiet clear of all the steps except the APIs. Where do we define these APIs? When it says "You use API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_SETPARAMS to define the parameters for the third-party tool that are required for the extraction" where do I use it? Is it in the 3rd party tool? or is it in SAP BI.
If it is in 3rd party tool, where in 3rd party tool. Do I need to write as code ? or would I have an option in the 3rd party tool?
If someone can help me with Microsoft connector using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services packages to SAP BI that would be helpful.
Where in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services packages can I use/put this APIs? Any help Plzz
If it is in SAP BI where in SAP BI do I have to use these APIs? Any help is highly appreciated
    Regards,
    KK
    Process Flow:
Extraction to the third-party tool can be executed as follows:
           1.      You define an open hub destination with Third-Party Tool as the destination type.
           2.      You create an RFC destination for your third-party tool and enter it in the definition of the open hub destination.
           3.      You use API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_SETPARAMS to define the parameters for the third-party tool that are required for the extraction.
           4.      You either start extraction immediately or include it in a process chain. You can also start this process chain from the third-party tool using process chain API RSPC_API_CHAIN_START. The extraction process then writes the data to a database table in the BI system.
           5.      When the extraction process is finished, the system sends a notification to the third-party tool using API RSB_API_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY.
           6.      The extracted data is read by API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_READ_DATA.
           7.      The status of the extraction is transferred to the monitor by API RSB_API_OHS_REQUEST_SETSTATUS.

It's been a along time since i worked with open hub, but here goes:
The Third Party tool needs parameters or switches to work correctly. Think of the old DOS commanda the  "/a" "/b" suffix.
The APIs are simply a way to pass these parameters from the BW source to the Third Party target.
If your tool does not need them, don't worry about them.
