Third party hardware without driver

Hi everyone,
I am very new to labview and I only know very little about the program. I am trying to read out temperature readings from a Sensortherm MY84 pyrometer using labview. It connects using an RS232 port, but I am using a converter to USB. There is no existing driver for the device in the NI website. The device is detectable in NI-MAX as a COM4 port. But when I try to create a new task in NI-MAX using the device, I cant find it.
Can anyone please help me in finding a solution so that I can use LabVIEW to read out data from this pyrometer? Any kind of help will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Reuben

Hi reuben,
when advised to try Hyperterminal you should really give it a try. Usually serial communication is tested with Hyperterminal (or any other terminal software) before proting to LabVIEW...
For your CR: I hope you send just one byte for CR (0x0D) and not four ("<CR>")!?

  • Can i connect pci-7344 to my third party motor and drive without umi-7764 ?

Our Lab have NI pci-7344 motion controller and third party motor and drive made by other company.
We want to connect pci-7344 and third party motor & drive without umi-7764.
    Just use cable.
Can we succeed to connect them ?

In general it is possible to connect the PCI-7344 to a motor drive without using a UMI-7764 but you will loose some safety features and the level of noise immunity for encoder signals will be decreased.
Please have a look at this link for more information.

  • Third-party hardware upgrades to improve performance in AE?

    Hey Folks,
Quick question.  Does anyone know of any third-party hardware cards that will improve performance in AE CS5?  I'm running a MacPro Quad-Core (two processor, 8 core) 3.2Ghz with 16GB RAM, 4TB internal drives on a MacPro Raid Card.  Ideally I'd love to get a card that would accelerate Photoshop and Final Cut as well.  Does anyone make third-party cards that do that?  Thanks,
    Justin

Good lord. I had two--not one, but TWO--of those cool but utterly useless boat anchors.
We were a victim of marketing.
Bad software, unrealistic performance claims, and worthless support from a company that, when starting out, truly thought they had revolutionized the entire world of rendering effects on the NuBus Macintosh.
All that remains of those boards is a pocketful of lovely blue anodized CNC'd heatsinks.

  • Burning Blu-ray disks.  Third party hardware needed?

I have read from earlier posts that it is not possible to burn Blu-ray© disks from DVDSP. Can third party hardware be purchased to burn such a disk having assembled the digital assets in DVDSP? Any recommendations?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your responses. I see that from DVD SP Late-Breaking news that'HD DVD projects authored by DVD SP 4.0.3 fully comply with the 1.0 version of he HD DVD specification...the new HD DVD standard. The disks will play on Apple DVD Player version 4.6.5 or later.
I haven't commited to the Blu-ray© player, just the Sony HD camcorder.
When the time comes, I will burn to a red laser disc per the Apple recommendation. And thanks for the Roxio link which makes it clear that a PC is needed for Blu-ray©

Sure - any number of them. For best results, however, I'd shop OWC or MacMall to ensure Mac compatibility.

  • Third party hardware for converting Lp's & tapes//converting VHS

Awhile back, I happened to notice a friend using an relatively inexpensive third party hardware/software bundle that was able to convert the audio output from his stereo to his mac for creating MP3s from Lps & cassette tapes. Does anyone know of a inexpensive product that will do this?
On a separate topic, I have a few VHS tapes I would like to convert to mov files. Is there something similar to the above item that will do this for me? I would prefer it have a firewire interface (Why FW vs USB? Because I have too many USB items plugged into my G5 as it is; I have always had spotty luck with third party items that solely use USB, the acception being my Epson products; and I tend to have a personal preference for FW.) and also be inexpensive, since I will be using this on a very occasional basis.

    Yosarian,
I don't use the ADVC 55 or Datavideo's product so I can't comment on it. But like most things, you get what you pay for and saving a few bucks here or they will cost you in quality or a feature you may need shortly down the road. As for connecting a walkman to the back of your G5, it will sound "good". Meaning that if the same music were played side by side from a CD and cassette, you would hear the difference. However I've done it dozens of times for different types of projects and it's very acceptable. If you play the CD you make from the transferred cassette on a high quality home stereo system, it will sound a bit compressed, but if played in a car, boom box, iPod, etc. you will likely never know the difference. In fact, I have transferred many LP's to CD using Roxio toast, and playing the CD's in the car or home sounds wonderful (except the inherent faint "popping" of LP's). Give it a try, it should work for all but the most demanding of applications.

  • TS1702 How do you close a third party app without deleting it?

How do you close a third party app without deleting it?

The same way any other app gets closed.
Tap the home button to return to the home screen.
If you want to force quit the app, after returning to the home screen, double tap the home button to pull up the multi-tasking bar.  Then press and hold the icon for the app in question until the red x appears.  Tap the x and the app will force quit.
All of this is covered in the User's Guide.

  • Integrating third party hardware into MAX

    Greetings all,
I'm curious about integrating some third party hardware into MAX. (Measurement and Automation)
A quick search hasn't landed any hits.  So I'm curious if anyone has attempted to do this before.
    Is this even possible?
    Patrick Allen

I haven't heard of any. If you mean having the full functionality, not likely that NI will tell you the necessary internals of something that they have spent a bazillion man-hours integating with their hardware, particularly as it is a major marketing tool for selling their hardware. It is, in fact, one of the reasons I recommend NI hardware, can get hardware up and running with out writing a bit of code. Some third party hardware will show up in MAX, some instruments (HP/Agilent, etc.) but other hardware won't even be seen.

  • XSAN and third party hardware

Hallo, is it possible use XSAN and dual G5 with third party recycled hardware (FC controller, FC with SATA disks storage systems, FC switchs, etc...)?
    Thank you.

I'm not able to answer your questions, Cloud.
    For all:
A RAID system, for example 14 hard disks, can I divide it in this way:
    * 4 drives: RAID 0
    * 4 drives: RAID 0 (mirror for a RAID 0,1 with the previous)
    * 4 drives: RAID 0 (independent)
    * 2 drives: JBOD or single drives.
Or are there any kind of bonds, ties, and if so which are the limits?
    Thank you.

  • How can I set up printing to queues on a Windows 2008 server directly from the iPad apps and not from third-party applications without using AppleTalk or Bonjour?

We have a Windows 2003/2008 server-based network with a dedicated print server which we would like to be able to print to over Wi-Fi.  How can I set up the printers on the iPad without downloading a third party application such as Print Central or Print N Share?  I want to just click the arrow and "Print" then choose the printer, which doesnt show up.  I want to be able to use the existing TCP/IP-based network that we have to reach these queues, not having to install Bonjour or AppleTalk to reach them.
    Thanks,
    KMQ7

This would really be the "Holy Grail"   right now.  I think this a feature that every large organization requires. AirPrint works on a small scale, but is not really an enterprise class application.  In addition it uses the Bonjour discovery process which is difficult in a large LAN WAN environment.  For those that would remind me, I am aware of the enhancement link

  • Extend range of unencrypted WLAN of third party router *without* using WDS

    Hello,
Imagine the following scenario for which I would like to find a solution -- but I think it's impossible, so I'm looking for hints:
My neighbour operates an open (unencrypted, unprotected) wireless network that I can use. He uses a third party WLAN router that does not support WDS. I have good reception only in a certain area in our house, so I would like to extend the range of the network, using my Airport Express station (or possibly other hardware).
I cannot make changes to the configuration of my neighbours router anyway, because we don't know the password for the configuration pages (and we don't want to reset the device to factory defaults).
I know that normally one would configure the two routers (his and mine) to use WDS (each knows the other's MAC address, uses the same channel, SSID and encryption setting etc.), but this is not possible here.
I could join his network with my powerbook wirelessly and then set up sharing preferences on the powerbook such that the WLAN internet connection would be shared onto the ethernet port to which I would connect my Airport Express station to allow wireless access by other machines. This isn't the cleanest setup because I think my powerbook would have to distribute IP addresses using DHCP and NAT which my neighbour's router does, too, so we should not use the same IP range (e.g. would use 192.168.1.xxx and I would use 10.0.1.xxx) and probably we shouldn't use the same SSID, either.
Because there's no WDS support, something like the above seems to be the only solution to me, namely: I would have to join his network as a normal client and the redistribute more or less separately (different subnet/different SSID/different IP address range/...).
Now, the Airport Express can join an existing network as a client, but despite the displayed settings in Airport Admin Utility, bridging to the ehternet port or Airport Express does not work. I have read a lot of Apple documentation, and my understanding is that when setting up Airport Express to join an existing wireless network, the only purpose would be to use it as the receiving end for iTunes music streaming and possibly to connect a printer to it; but the ethernet is completely disabled. (It took me hours to figure this out because the Admin utility clearly suggests that the station would operate as WLAN-ethernet bridge in this setting, but it doesn't.)
So do you have any other solutions to this problem? WOuld an AIrport Extreme station be capable of doing this?
I don't want to use my powerbook as the 'bridge' to share the WLAN connection to the ethernet port as described above because that would require my powerbook to be on alll the time and be located in an inconvenient place.
    Thanks for your replies!
P.S.: I do have some older/other wireless routers available, but I think they're not going to help because they won't allow this rather unusual setting. They're all very basic.
Powerbook G4 1 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Airport Express

WOuld an AIrport Extreme station be capable of doing this?
No. The only way an AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) can wirelessly join a network is using WDS. It does not offer the wireless client mode like the AirPort Express (AX).
Using your PowerBook as you suggested is the only solution using Apple's devices.
There may be 3rd party repeaters that you can use but I have no experience with them.

  • Third party MIDI/Audio driver conflict message!@#@!#@

I'm getting the "Logic Pro has detected a possible conflict between one or more third party MIDI or audio drivers" message.
    I'm running a G5 dual 2 gig, OSX 10.4.8, Logic Pro 7.2.3, Emagic AMT8 and RME DSP9652.
When I start Logic, it hangs on "checking MIDI drivers" forever, then gives me the conflict message 4 or 5 times, then tells me MIDI services won't be available.
I have not changed ANYTHING... it's worked fine forever. I removed the EmagicUSBMIDIDriver.plugin from the MIDI drivers folder, tried it with nothing in the folder, and same thing (I had a Yamaha MIDI driver and one from the RME, but I dumped them. It's worked fine with the additional drivers for a long time, so I doubt that's the problem). I reloaded the EmagicUSBMIDIDriver.plugin from the 7.2 installer DVD, same thing.
Someone mentioned this problem was caused by too many devices drawing current on the USB bus, but I only have a mouse/keyboard, printer, XS Key, and a iLok for Waves on the the USB bus.
    HELP!
    Mitchell

I have looked in Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers and there is just one file called EmagicUSBMIDIDriver.plugin - can this be causing the problem?
    Nothing on User/YourName/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers.
I have found 3 AVID folders on Applications:
    - Avid MetaSync Manager
    - Avid MetaSync Publisher
    - Avid_Uninstallers
    Shall I remove these?
There is also an empty folder called Digidesign on User/Library/Audio/Plugins
I have tried it with the M-Audio card connected and selected in Logic, and it doesn't work.

  • Modifying the init-params for third-party handler without redployment?

    Hello,
I have a custom handler used for authentication as a third-party jar file. This handler has some of the init-params which are configured in web-services.xml deployment descriptor. Typically these init-params change from one test environment to another. So user can change these parameters, but for every change I would need to redploy the application in each environement.
Is it possible to change these init-params dynamically once application is deployed? I would like to change it after my EAR file containing webservice is deployed and before a webservice invocation is made by the client.
Any help/guidance will be much appriciated...
    Thanks.

  • MICROSOFT OPERATING SYSTEMS: 32bit vs 64bit & THIRD PARTY HARDWARE / SOFTWARE

As WINDOWS 7 is the newest, and latest O. S. product from good ole Microsoft, in upcoming weeks and months, lots of people; professional Techs, and regular Users are going to be faced with thousands upon thousands of new obstacles and miscues. Purchasing the 32bit version of WINDOWS 7---or a combo pack of 32/64---is currently the easiest and safest way to go! Still few manufacturers offer their Hardware with Software support for 64bit. Of course, most likely this will be the next wave of the future, but for now, most PCs are operating 32bit Motherboards, components and such.
Performing a CLEAN INSTALL  vs  an UPGRADE is a matter of decisive choice. Though, if you've been having problems with your current Operating System and PC, then chances are, an UPGRADE type of Install is not going to fix your problems. Of course, a CLEAN INSTALL guarantees you will most likely lose previous info and data, but if you back that data up onto a separate Hard Drive, you will be able to retrieve it later (if you don't have two or more Hard Drives installed in your PC, then a stand-a-lone USB type of Hard Drive can be purchased for under a Hundred dollars ($100).
With most of the 32bit Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, technically knowledgeable advanced Users, or Techs while paying exclusive attention during an Install, can direct the Operating System Setup to install without overwriting existing data, however this procedure and process requires a lucid working awareness and understanding on manipulation and navigation of existing Hard Drives.
     GBJ

You don't want those page outs and swap files.
1GB is really meaning that just running web browser, email and something else you will page.
    Paging is slower than RAM
Laptops have slower hard drives for the most part still compared to desktops.
I would say 2GB will make a difference even for casual use. Safari alone has been known to use 600MB and up quite easily. Throw in Office, Logic, CS4 and you have a real problem and need that 4GB and up.
64-bit is more about the plumbing and address pointers, registers and can actually take more work to move things around. Your programs would need to be such that they benefit, and that each application or process can benefit from 4GB or more - each. And more than 4GB RAM.

The open/save dialogue has been in need of more views for a long long time, and that alone is worth the cost of Default Folder was; Finder has been in need of a rewrite for four yrs finally got it; send windows to its own application in the Dock and not left orphaned on the side and lost.
Multi-core isn't a big issue with dual-core but it has been and would have gotten much worse in the future without SL's Grand Central and other improvements. Moving to new compilers and with the help of Intel to better use new chips and hyper-threading.
Windows 7 runs smoother and faster and showed a lot over Vista and why those that used both won't go back. That is what I would expect to see from 10.6 eventually. There were problems where 10.5.x would get lost, not respond, the mouse would move but no interaction with the system itself, like a run-away train.
