Third party imaging question
Is there a way to use the lite touch installations using the deploymentshare? I want to do this so that I can follow the MS deployment docs for adding drivers and using the unattended installs without having to rebuild images. Has anyone thought of or tried this?
I found that I actually could do this by moving <deploymentshare>\ Boot\Lite_TouchPE_x86.wim to c:\program files\windows aik\tools\petools\x86\
Then upload Lite_Touch_x86.wim form that location so that the ZCM winpe.wim uploader can find the other files it wants.
Then rename Lite_Touch_x86.wim to win winpe.wim in %progfiles%\novell\zenworks\share\tftp\boot\
the only problem is that I cant set any zisdata like "justimaged=true"
anyone? I would really like to use the official MS deployment stuff the way it's meant to be used.

Ok, asked around a little. As my sources tell me Novell is looking at implementing this in the 11 series, but the actual when depends on which other requests are open and how they are prioritised. You can shoot in an enhancement request to add your prio to it. Don't expect to see an option for this before 11.1.
In the meantime there are ways to do this using ZCM with the deployment tools. There are slides that can be found, one source being here : (sorry, many of this is in Dutch - but the screenshots and English bits might give the needed details) : Windows 7 deployment with ZCM
There is also an updated presentation from BrainShare (Amsterdam) that I can send you along with some tools that enable you to deploy Windows 7 with ZCM using the Microsoft WIAK tools. If interested, PM me (it's a newer version than found on internet).
Don't know all the ins and outs of this just jet as I'll be digging into this the next month.. but from what I've seen, only using WIAK and ZCM + the guidelines in the docs how to use the add-on images correctly.. this gives a very solid way to deploy without the need for all kinds of extras or having to touch the base image with every change.

We are needing to deploy Windows 7 64 bit and to do this we will need to use
a 64 bit WinPE image.
We have setup Third party imaging and uploaded a 64 bit WinPE image and 64
bit imagex.exe. However when zenworktodo.exe is launched it errors because
it is a 32 bit application. (WOW64 does not exist in PE). This seems a
little odd. So my question: Does ZCM have a 64 bit zenworktodo.exe?
We are using ZCM 10.2.2 on OES2.

According to the Microsoft documentation to install a 64 bit os you have to
use a 64 bit WinPE:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...93(WS.10).aspx under
Limitations.
I have not tested it was just following what I found. I guess it would be
possible to apply a 64 bit wim from a 32 bit PE. I will be testing that
shortly. As our current thought for a workaround is to create a hard drive
image with ZCM that has Winpe 64 booting. Once WinPE is loaded into memory
it will wipe the disk and install the OS across the network. This however
looks like it loses the ZCM image safe data, though we are still working on
that.

Hi Bryon,
We're pushing Novell for both x86/x64 native WinPE support with x64 versions
of ZENworkToDo. This is something they need to do.
In the meantime, provided you're only imaging using imagex to capture/apply
a Windows 7 x64 image, you should be able to do this with WinPE x86 which is
compatible with ZENworkToDo.
Is there a specific reason why you need to boot WinPE x64?

Heath.

SDK for third party apps Question
i have the new version 1.1.3 04.03.13 and i am not able to get the third party apps and i wanted to know does anyone know when they will be putting it out?
Also, the release of the SDK will not coincide with new apps being available on that date anyway. Apps will need to be written and tested by the developers, then submitted to Apple for testing, digital signature, and sales. After they decide it is safe and believe it to be an asset to the iPhone, then it will become available. This will take months, not days after SDK release.

Third Party Imaging and Preseving Partitions
We're currently using WIM / Imagex for our image - is there anyway to restore an image, and preserve a partition that's already on the disk? As far as I can see, diskpart cleans the disk before restoring.
We'd like to partition off a section of the hard drive to let our users use for editing video, but we'd like to preserve it during the imaging process.
Failling that, does anyone know where the diskpart script is stored in the winpe.wim image, so I can have a play with it?
ThanksYou might be better off researching for another list? There is some info here: ImageX and WIM Image Format

I have been a Norton Utilities, Antivirus user. I am looking into replacing this as Symantec has stopped supporting MAC platform, I'd like to know what programs out there you may like or dislike and a little about why?
I'd like to find something that is somewhat the equivalent to the bundle I had in NU, I found it easy to use and to manage having antivirus run in the background checking things I also made use of the parental controls.
If you have a moment and share your opinions and experience with me could you please mention whether you noticed any negative interactions after loading your preferred choice on your systems.
I appreciate your input thank you.
Best wishes for a good week to you all.

PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.3.9) TitaniumHi, Jenifer. Without antivirus software, a PC user will never know where any of the malware that endlessly afflicts him or her has come from, or whether any of it could have come from you — s/he will just know that s/he's up to h/h eyeballs in it at all times.
I've owned and relied heavily on every version of DiskWarrior since its introduction except the latest (v. 4), which I don't need yet. I consider DW the second-best investment in peace of mind that any Mac user can make, after a backup hard drive. 98-99% of the software-based problems I've ever encountered on my Macs are resolved by DiskWarrior and/or Apple's own Disk Utility, plus MacJanitor and Onyx.
I also own two older versions of TechTool Pro, which were very useful on some of my older Macs for hardware testing. I haven't updated TTP for several years, because my Powerbook came with an Apple HardWare Test CD, and the AppleCare Extended Protection Plan I bought for it came with a TechTool Deluxe CD: a subset of TTP. Between those two diagnostic tools, I figure I'm pretty well set for hardware testing capabilities and don't need TTP any more. If I didn't have TTD, I would upgrade TTP.
Throughout the 1990s I also had and used Norton Utilities, ending with v. 5. DiskWarrior completely replaced Norton Disk Doctor as soon as I bought DW, and now OS X itself automatically defragments all files smaller than 20MB. On an old desktop Mac that runs OS 8.6 and 9.1, I use Alsoft's PlusOptimizer instead of Norton Speed Disk. I keep my Norton CD in case I ever need to recover any trashed files from an old Mac with Norton UnErase. But everything stored on my old machines is so redundantly backed up that I haven't needed to use Unerase in about ten years, and I should probably just throw the Norton CD away. NU is no longer installed on any of my Macs, and I'll probably never use any part of it again. You shouldn't either. -
Can I run a third party executable from LabView?
I have a third party image sensor executable. Is it possible to start this executable from a LabView VI? I know that you can run a dll from LabView. I was wondering if you can do the same with a standard .exe file.
Yes, you can use the "System Exec.vi", located in different spots depending on which version you're using.
It acts as a command line interface - essentially the same as if you run CMD.
Search for it in the help if you can't find it in your palette. -
Customized WinPE with zenworks third party?
I used MDT to create my own deployment share, when you update the share, it creates its own custom windows pe iso/wim files so you can boot with your personalized settings or automate the process. I don't think zenworks lets you import these custom files into the Third Party Imaging Settings, at least I'm having trouble getting them to accept. Seems that it'll only accept the files that come with the MS ADK. This is a bummer, if true. Might have to ditch zen imaging and go with windows deployment server. :\
Not having much luck finding anyone who has experience with MDT/ZenAfter Installing the ZCM Agent Initially, If you immediately remote the
"Initial-Web-Service" File, it will not automatically register.
Then after restoring the image, during the Sysprep Deployment phase, you
restore the file and the agent will then try to register next restart or
agent refresh.

How to streaming data/image from labview to a third party software
Hi, i am working on a research project and stuck on the following problem: I have two cameras and one IMU Sensor unit, all conected to my PC. I save the camera images as avi format and the IMU sensor as TDMS format. I have also another software running on the same PC which i developed using VisualStudio2013. On this software i alredy implemented a very complex filter to fuse images and IMU. Now my quesion: would be it possibel to stream the .avi and .tdms from LabView to my software so I can test in real time how my filter is performing? If yes please let me know what LabView function do i have to use. thanks
Thanks, the hardware are my PC, 2 usb cameras and one usb-IMU sensor. The PC runs w7 with LabView2014. I can read the camera and IMU to my Laview without any problem and save the data on my hard desk. I am also developing another software on VS-C++ for image processing and data fusion. I would like to know what is the best (and fastest) possibility to stream this data (Images and IMU) in real time from LabView to my own software?
I read a lot in NI-website on how to communicate LabView with a third party software. They are summarized in this link:
https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-9131
It looks for me that the ‘shard memory’ principle (or File Mapping) is the most convenient method. In VC++ under windows I can easily handle shared memory by calling FileMapping windows functions. Now the question is how can I do that in LabView? I am relatively new in LabView and do not know if it is possible to use shared memory in LabView. For example: is it possible in LabView to buffer both video streams and IMU-data (live) in a shared memory in computer RAM using the windows FileMaping functions (may be using .dll). Then I can access the RAM form my own software and read the stream. Please see the attachment for more description.

RED Workflow questions with Mac Pro (including third party plugins)
Hello all,
I’ve been searching many forums for the better part of a day trying to get some workflow questions sorted. I’m experiencing (very) slow export times, and mediocre playback for a machine that should be screaming fast.
Here is what I’m working with:
2014 Mac Pro
-2.7 GHz 12-core intel xeon E5
-64GB Ram
-Dual AMD FirePro D700 6GB
-1TB Flash Storage
Editing all footage off 96TB Raid 6 mini-sas server (getting about 1100mbs read/write rate according to AJA system test) which is faster than any Thunderbolt/TB2 drive array I have.
Media I work with is footage from the RED Epic (normally 5K) as well as DSLR footage from the 5d.
Software:
-PrPro CC 2014 (8.1)
-Magic Bullet Looks 2.5.2
My question(s) pertains to RED post-pro workflow in combination with third party plug-ins and the different approaches to make it more efficient.
Right now, majority of the clients need a 1080p HD master, and they are generally anywhere from 2-8 minutes (usually). So my sequence settings are as follows:
Video:
Editing Mode: RED Cinema
Size: 1920 x 1080
Audio: 48Hz
Video Previews
Preview File Format: I-Frame Only MPEG
Codec: MPEG I-Frame
1920x1080
Maximum Bit Depth unchecked
Maximum Render Quality unchecked
Composite in Linear Color checked
Export Settings
H.264
1920x1080
VBR 1 pass
Target Bitrate 12mbs
Max bitrate 12mbs
Maximum render quality/depth/previews unchecked
Issues I have:
-Playback is fine at 1/2 or even full, but once effects (especially magic bullet looks) start to go on the clips, it’s very choppy and has difficult playback at 1/4
-Export times (especially with magic bullet looks) will take the better part of 1-4 hours for a video that is 3-6 minutes long. This doesn’t seem like it should be the case for a maxed out MacPro
So my questions are:
Do these seem like the right sequence/export settings for mastering at 1080p? If not, what would you suggest?
Would using offline editing help at all?
Do you place your effects on adjustment layers?
Is there anyway to improve export settings when using an array of filters?
Have you stopped using third party plugins for their inefficiency in unreliability and switched to more integrated applications like SpeedGrade?
Is there any other tweaks that you would suggest for RED workflow with PrPro?
Should I consider switching to FCPX or (besides the iMovie-likeness) does it carry problems of its own?Hi This Is Ironclad,

The biggest issue is that most people have is that updating OS X causes certain folders to be set to Read Only. See this blog post: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later).

It's a nice base system. How about an additional speedy disk for media cache files. You also did not mention which version of OS X you are running.

The Red Giant website does not indicate that this software is yet updated to work with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1). Proceed with caution here.

I would not use this plug-in until you get the OK from the manufacturer.

Again, I suspect your plug-in.
Keep in mind that exports are largely CPU based but you can make sure that GPU acceleration is enabled for AME at the bottom of the Queue panel.

It's OK.
thisisironclad wrote:

No need when you should be able to edit natively. Relinking might also be an issue.
thisisironclad wrote:

That's one way you can do it with the benefit of being more organized.
thisisironclad wrote:

I do. Of course, that's a preference.
thisisironclad wrote:

Try the following:
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
Update any GPU drivers
Trash preferences
Ensure Adobe preference files are set to read/write(Hopefully you checked this out already)
Delete media cache
Remove plug-ins
If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
Repair permissions
Disconnect any third party hardware
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCLYou have AMD GPUs.
Disable App Nap
Reboot

I really shouldn't answer that question.

Question about: Auto PO generation for third party sales order
Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right place to leave this question but giving a shot.
In Sales Item category we have a check box called generate auto po. By reading the help i came to know that it generates PO and/or Purchase Requisition automatically on saving the Sales Order. It is also said that we need to make some ALV setting. Can any one lead me how to configure the setting,so that i can be successful in knowing about Third party Orders.
Thanks & Regards
MukundHello Mukund
It is talking about ALE- Application Link Enabling - not ALV. That is if you have distributed applications and use ALE to communicate between them. I don't think you need to do anything else. Just go ahead and test it. And if your MM Purchasing master data is set up correctly, you should be able to see the message about PO creation when the sales order is saved. -
