Third Party Mouse disconnects

Recently bought a MacBook Pro in the past week. I got a cheap third party wired mouse that worked great with 10.8.5. The entire time I owned this laptop I have never had a problem with this mouse. Today I decided to upgrade to 10.9. Now the mouse can be connected and can be used for a little while (less than a couple of minutes) then it will randomly disconnects. I have to disconnect the USB and reconnect to use my mouse for a couple of minutes. What is very strange to me is the red led turns off then you can press the left click button and the light turns on but the mouse does not work. This problem only occurs with safari, firefox, and chrome (the internet browsers I have tried). I uninstalled and reinstalled the apps ... nothing seems to help. I am at a lost.
I have played a video game with the mouse on 10.9 for many hours with out a disconnection. This makes me think that the problem lay with any internet browser. I believe the problem is brought on by a heavy use of the scroll wheel on pages with a lot of data but what do I know. This laptop is brand new with minimal apps on it besides one game, mathematica, latex, and textwrangler. These are the only apps I downloaded and installed when I was using 10.8.5.
Latex works. Mathematica works. Textwrangler works. Python works.
All in all I can still use my laptop for my research/school work but this mouse problem is very annoying.
When I installed mavericks I did not get any errors and the actually installation was very easy. After the installation I performed the 10.9 update that was available on the update page.
I have never made a post before and I am sure more information is needed about my computer. Post what you need and I will be happy to reply with the needed information.
Thank you in advance!

Anyone have just the slightest idea on how to fix this issue? Is there an app that can get the drivers? If there does exist an app can someone guide me in a direction to just write my own app so I do not have to download someone elses work.

  • Third party mouse on Intel Macs

    Hello,
does a third party mouse driver (Microsoft or Logitech) written for PowerPC processor work correctly on Intel-based Macs?

If you want to be able to use the extra buttons on
the mouse you may want to go get SteerMouse, which is
a universal app, allows you to adust speet and
program the extra buttons on the mouse.
I've got a Kensington Expert Mouse trackball, and
their Mouseworks software didn't work on the new
    intel Mini.
Thank you, SteerMouse is a good alternative, works with several other mice and costs only $ 20.
I just discovered new Intellipoint 6.0 software from Microsoft, it is Universal Binary.

  • Third party mouse/keyboard combos

    first post here.
i am going to buy a bluetooth mouse plus keyboard combo.
    i am quite interested in logitech mx5000 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2158,CONTENTID=107 76&ad=hpb_mx5000)
would this thing work with the integrated imac bluetooth adapter? would all of the F-keys work?
    any advice?
    marco.

Hi, I'm also interested in that mouse keyboard combo
It says in the specs that the mouse is actually MX1000 for bluetooth.
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/AU/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=904 3
now, that mouse only, in the specs says that it supports mac.
so im guessing just the softwares for the keyboard that might not work, e.g. the features for IM status, etc.

lists the compatible logitech keyboards for mac os
this is another quote from logitech support
"Although it’s possible for you to use a Logitech Bluetooth product on your system, Logitech does not support these devices in any other operating system besides Windows XP and Windows 2000. However, since our devices strictly adhere to the Bluetooth standard, the hardware should operate in other operating systems. Even though the hardware may work, you will not be able to install the software and therefore will not be able to use some features such as secure data transmission and extra function keys or mouse buttons."
so.. its a gamble to buy the set.
or maybe we can buy the apple bluetooth keyboard from apple store and buy MX1000 bluetooth from logitech

  • Third-party keyboard and mouse

I’m buying a “third-party USB keyboard and mouse”, as quoted in the FAQ. I cannot afford the original keyboard and mouse because here in Brazil they’re extremely expansive. But some of these third-party sets have an indication: “for both windows and MAC OS”, and some don’t. Does that mean that the ones without the indication will not work? Or it only means that these with the indication have been projected more properly? The equivalent keys quoted in the FAQ are not rare, on the contrary, they exist in any keyboard – the one with the windows sign (equivalent to the apple sign) and the ALT command, equivalent to the optinons, right? Is there any other special care I should have when buying them?

"But some of these third-party sets have an indication: “for both windows and MAC OS”, and some don’t. Does that mean that the ones without the indication will not work?"
It means that the ones with the indication that it is "for both windows and Mac OS" will work on both Windows and Mac but will generally have the Windows style keyboard.
About the time I ordered my Mini, I ordered one of the Windows/Mac compatible keyboards from one of the major online stores. I was concentrating on the fact that the KB was compatible with the Mac and not being aware of the keys being Windows style. It's a nice KB but I'm sorry that I didn't buy a dedicated Mac KB because I keep forgetting which Windows key relates to which Mac key. It's not a major hassle but an annoying inconvenience when referring to a Mac manual and having to translate Mac keyboard instructions to my Windows layout KB.

You can find the Apple Bluetooth card on eBay for as little ten dollars (says its for the 2008 model Mac Pro, not sure about the 2007).
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bluetooth-Board-iMac-and-Mac-Pro-922-8233-922-8233-/1208 49278570
Here is a link to a full explanation of the card and how to install it. Part numbers may differ a bit as that is an old article and newer models have come out.
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/Mac_Pro/Bluetooth_MacPro_install/Bluetooth_Ma cPro_install.html
Just make sure that the part will work in your model Mac Pro. To that end, you may be better off avoiding eBay and going to a parts reseller. There are even third party cards that use the internal Apple bluetooth slot.
    http://fastmac.com/bluetooth.php
In theory, using a USB or PCI card will work at login so long as it is recognized by Apples drivers. You say you need to launch an application to use your current USB Bluetooth dongle? If it is not controlled by the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar then it must be using a third party driver of some sort. Unfortunately, I don't know off hand which USB and PCI cards are supported.

  • Disconnect Third Party Websites

I need to disconnect two third party websites from my Spotify account. The websites are: http://www.playlistbuddy.com and http://soundiiz.com. I do not want them to access my account any longer, because ever since I did they have taken over my account. My Spotify is showing artists that I never even listened to, which proves that one of these third party apps is playing artists on it without my permission. I cannot find a solution to this anywhere.

  • How do I enable third party cookies in Firefox 5

I keep getting the message telling me to enable third party cookies. The instructions for how to do so tell me to choose the options feature from the tools drop down menu, then to click on "privacy" and check a certain box that would enable cookies.
This check box is not on the privacy menu. What do I do?

    Using the Menu Bar:
*press the ALT or F10 key to get the Menu Bar to '''''temporarily''''' appear
*with your mouse make the selection Tools > Options > Privacy
Using the Firefox button (Firefox 4 & 5):
*click the Firefox button > Options > Options > Privacy
To see the third-party cookies option, at the top of the Privacy panel set "Firefox will" to "Use custom settings for history"

  • RED Workflow questions with Mac Pro (including third party plugins)

    Hello all,
I’ve been searching many forums for the better part of a day trying to get some workflow questions sorted. I’m experiencing (very) slow export times, and mediocre playback for a machine that should be screaming fast.
Here is what I’m working with:
    2014 Mac Pro
    -2.7 GHz 12-core intel xeon E5
    -64GB Ram
    -Dual AMD FirePro D700 6GB
    -1TB Flash Storage
Editing all footage off 96TB Raid 6 mini-sas server (getting about 1100mbs read/write rate according to AJA system test) which is faster than any Thunderbolt/TB2 drive array I have.
Media I work with is footage from the RED Epic (normally 5K) as well as DSLR footage from the 5d.
    Software:
    -PrPro CC 2014 (8.1)
    -Magic Bullet Looks 2.5.2
My question(s) pertains to RED post-pro workflow in combination with third party plug-ins and the different approaches to make it more efficient.
Right now, majority of the clients need a 1080p HD master, and they are generally anywhere from 2-8 minutes (usually). So my sequence settings are as follows:
    Video:
    Editing Mode: RED Cinema
    Size: 1920 x 1080
    Audio: 48Hz
    Video Previews
Preview File Format: I-Frame Only MPEG
    Codec: MPEG I-Frame
    1920x1080
    Maximum Bit Depth unchecked
    Maximum Render Quality unchecked
    Composite in Linear Color checked
    Export Settings
    H.264
    1920x1080
    VBR 1 pass
    Target Bitrate 12mbs
    Max bitrate 12mbs
    Maximum render quality/depth/previews unchecked
    Issues I have:
-Playback is fine at 1/2 or even full, but once effects (especially magic bullet looks) start to go on the clips, it’s very choppy and has difficult playback at 1/4
-Export times (especially with magic bullet looks) will take the better part of 1-4 hours for a video that is 3-6 minutes long. This doesn’t seem like it should be the case for a maxed out MacPro
    So my questions are:
Do these seem like the right sequence/export settings for mastering at 1080p? If not, what would you suggest?
Would using offline editing help at all?
Do you place your effects on adjustment layers?
Is there anyway to improve export settings when using an array of filters?
Have you stopped using third party plugins for their inefficiency in unreliability and switched to more integrated applications like SpeedGrade?
Is there any other tweaks that you would suggest for RED workflow with PrPro?
Should I consider switching to FCPX or (besides the iMovie-likeness) does it carry problems of its own?

The biggest issue is that most people have is that updating OS X causes certain folders to be set to Read Only. See this blog post: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later).

It's a nice base system. How about an additional speedy disk for media cache files. You also did not mention which version of OS X you are running.

The Red Giant website does not indicate that this software is yet updated to work with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1). Proceed with caution here.

I would not use this plug-in until you get the OK from the manufacturer.

    Again, I suspect your plug-in.
Keep in mind that exports are largely CPU based but you can make sure that GPU acceleration is enabled for AME at the bottom of the Queue panel.

    It's OK.

No need when you should be able to edit natively. Relinking might also be an issue.
    thisisironclad wrote:

That's one way you can do it with the benefit of being more organized.
    thisisironclad wrote:

    I do. Of course, that's a preference.
    thisisironclad wrote:

    Try the following:
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
    Update any GPU drivers
    Trash preferences
Ensure Adobe preference files are set to read/write(Hopefully you checked this out already)
    Delete media cache
    Remove plug-ins
If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
    Repair permissions
    Disconnect any third party hardware
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCLYou have AMD GPUs.
    Disable App Nap
    Reboot
    thisisironclad wrote:

I really shouldn't answer that question.
    Hope this helps.

  • Third-Party Menu Bar Malfunction

My third party apps work fine, as do their menu bar items, except for one thing...
After upgrading to SL from Leopard, I had several of the misc problems listed in this forum (ie. sound muted on reboot, system menu bar items not working, etc.) and all have been resolved except one. Once I have selected a system menu bar item, I can move to any other system item and the respective menu displays as it should. When I do this with a third-patry app, however, the menu does not follow my mouse. Essentially the button works as I can click it and use the items listed under each menu, I just can't move from one menu to the next without clicking on each item.
I have spoken with Apple CS and they are looking into it but in the meantime there is nothing I can do. I have reinstalled each app, confirmed that they are fully functional, and tried deselecting and reselecting the "Show in menu bar" option for each app to no avail. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I should also mention I have tried setting up a new user also to no avail.

I searched the web and found the following Terminal command, which seems to have removed it:
    /usr/local/McAfee/uninstallMSC

  • Is the FanControlDaemon folder in /library Apple or third party?

    I was getting constant errors
    kernel[0]: SMC::smcReadKeyAction ERROR TC0D kSMCBadArgumentError(0x89) fKeyHashTable=0x0xffffff802a9a0000
on my MBP 2011 in Console and my fan was blowing like crazy all the time until I uninstalled all third-party fan software and the f older in the title. Now, I don't know if the folder in the library should be there or not (the assignment 'daemon' is not used much in Mac I don't think) so it's sitting on my desktop for now. But the fan has stopped screaming and I have no more SMC errors on Console.
I do have a question though. I have free third party widgets (Temperature Monitor) that monitor some temperatures but I don't know how accurate they are. I am a bit confused though. Right now the only visible applications running are Finder, Safari, and Console (well, throw Dashboard in there too) and it's quiet as a mouse. The temperature readings I'm getting are as follows:
    Left Palm Rest 25
    Main Heatsink2 38
    CPU A Proximity 46
    CPU A Temperature Diode 48
When I have a bunch of applications going that really tax the CPU the last figure can go into the 80's, fan full blast, but always goes back into the 70's or 60's quickly. When everything is at rest it's as above. No other problems except application specific ones like Mail.app.
I don't understand the difference between the Heatsink and CPU A Proximity and CPU A Temperature Diode. Which one should be concerned more about?
And, again, can I delete the FanControlDaemon folder or should I put it back?
    Thanks a lot.

All of the temperatures that you report are normal for the types of usage involved.  I am always concerned about the temperature that has the highest value, which usually is the CPU.  I ignore the rest.
In regards to 'FanControlDaemon' go to the developers website and get the appropriate uninstall instructions. Sometimes one has to reinstall an application and then follow the uninstall instructions in order to rid the MBP of all its elements.
    Ciao.

  • Will third party software called "Bug me" and "YAPS" work on the Centro?

I am currently a Tungsten E2 user. I am considering buying a Palm Centro and want to know if the third party programs "Bugme" and "YAPS" work on the new Centro that is offered by Verizon? Secondly does the Centro have the ability to "tap" in letters off the touch screen as the Tungsten can or do I need to push the very tiny buttons on the front of the phone?
    Bdomo
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Any 3rd party applications that are designed to work on the Palm OS 5.4.9 should work on the Centro.
The Graffiti writing utility is not included on the Centro.
You can check out the user guide for the Centro on the Palm.com website. Go to Palm.com, hover the mouse over the support and downloads link at the top. Select Knowledge Library and on the bottom of the page is a box for solution ID. Enter 20198 and you will get the list of the manuals available. Select the Centro link and you can read all about the Centro and how to setup and use the phone.

    Hi
I don't want to use third party applications for downloading videos because they make so many troubles as slow downs and disconnections. The Activity tab in safari is disabled. Is there any way to download videos by safari without third party apps?

  • Third party apps failing to start (complete post!)

As of last Monday two of my third party apps, namely Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop fail to start up: their icons simply bounce in the dock followed by the window that tells me that they unexpectedly quit with the option to report to Apple.
Here is a list of the things I have tried in order to resolve this issue
    removing plists
    running disk utility
    removing corrupted fonts
    removing all fonts
removing adobe font lists and dbs
    disconnecting peripherals
    reinstalling software
creating a new user and starting from there
But none of these have solved the problem.
Has anyone any bright ideas I could apply?
    Thanks

  • Ability to have all third party payments through ACB(EFT)

    Hi Guru's,
please help if any one know the below information.
    South Africa Legislation
Customer would like to have the ability to have all third party payments like SARS(taxes),Pension & Retirement fund,Garnish payments made electronically. He believes
this can be accomplished by creating a new Payment Method and then assigning to the Personal Payment Method. It would have to be another process similar to ACB
trasfer(EFT), some kind of magnetic transfer. Is this a standard process or need any customization required.
    Thanks

I started seeing the same symptoms today. I also noticed that at some point my iPhone's name in iTunes had changed from "<my name>'s iPhone" to "iPhone".
I tried all suggestions in this thread with no luck.
Since I had sync'ed several times after the problem started, my "restore from iPhone backup" operation was restoring the iPhone to the same wrong state. I wanted to restore it to the state it was before the problem started this morning. However, iTunes only restores to the latest backup.
I found that on the Mac, the iPhone backups are kept in:
    /Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
There were two directories for my iPhone (there's supposed to be only one). One was a long string of characters, the second one was the same string plus a string with a date at the end (as in "328... - 20090820"). I figured whatever happened, happened this morning and iTunes started considering my iPhone a different phone, not authorized to run my apps.
I disconnected my iPhone from my laptop and closed iTunes. I went to my backup (Time Machine, for those who care to know) and restored the content of the MobileSync/Backup directory from a date before this morning. I restarted iTunes. On my iPhone, I went to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset all settings and contents (this will erase all your iPhone apps, music, pictures and settings, including any WiFi passwords saved). After that finished, I connected my iPhone to my laptop (the iPhone prompts you to do that). First iTunes activated my iPhone, then rebooted it, and then restored all of its contents.
As a side note, you can interrupt the restoration at any time, it will just pick up where it left off the next time you connect your iPhone. In fact, after most of my apps were restored, I interrupted it, went out for dinner, and as I type this the rest of my apps have been restored and now my music is being copied back to my iPhone.
All my apps are working now.
