Third Party plugs don't seem to work on nodes

I've got a node working with Logic 8 and it works great with the Logic plugs. I've tried several third party plugs and none of them work: Ozone, Trash, Vintage Warmer, Airwindows Iron Oxide. The manual says ". . . some Audio Unit effects may not support the Node functionality of Logic Pro." So do the developers now have to redesign their plugins somehow to make them work with nodes? Has anyone been able to get a third party plugin working on a node?

The manual specifically states that third party plug-ins are supported. So Matrixx, it looks like you're using a G4 as your node which is what I was doing. Perhaps I need a more recent version of Vintage Warmer. Are you also using Logic plugs on the tracks that have VW? I'm wondering whether you can mix and match third party with logic plugs on the same track. Well, this is encouraging. I really want the Airwindows stuff to work and I've got the most recent versions there. Do you have Iron Oxide? have you tried any Airwindows plugs?

Unplug your iBook from the AC power, shut it down and take the main battery out for about fifteen minutes. Then you can put the battery back in, plug the power back in and restart. This should reset the USB and FireWire ports.
If that doesn't help, you could reset the Power Management Unit. Follow the instructions in Knowledge Base Article #14449 for resetting your PMU.
You probably should also startup from your Mac OS X install disk and run the Disk Utility to "repair disk" on your hard drive. This will determine if you've got some kind of file directory/software problems with the files on your hard drive.
I'm not much at decoding kernel panic logs, but this line jumps out:

Did you have a DVD movie in the drive at the time? DVD movie disks are UDF format, but not much else is.

  • Will PSE3 Third Party Plug-Ins Work On My New iMac ?

Over the past 5+ years I have accumulated quite a few third party plug-ins for both PSE2 and PSE3 running on my Apple eMac G4.
I will shortly be taking delivery of a new Intel based iMac,and whilst previous posts on this forum show that I can run PSE3 on the new machine, what about the third party plug-ins ?
I will be installing PSE3 on the iMac using the original discs, and, if I can use them,do I just 'migrate' the plug-ins using the Apple Migration Assistant - or what ?

It depends. Some can be transferred that way, but some require their own installer.
EDIT If you have the installer, use it. If not, you won't be any worse off if you try manually moving them. Incidentally, I'm assuming you're talking about true plug-ins (.plugin files) and not about actions and such, which can be moved, but go to very different places in PSE 6.

  • IDCS3 WinXP SP2 - Third Party Plug-in from CS2 to CS3

I've upgraded to CS3 with no problems - except for trouble with a third party plug-in. We installed SBREFX.pln, a cross reference plug-in, in our CS2. While many of our CS2 documents don't actually use this plug-in, it was installed when those documents were created.
When opening these docs in CS3, an error message appears stating that the plug-in is not found. (There is no CS3 version of this plug-in, not do we really need it anymore.) While we can bypass the error message, we cannot "package" the CS3 publication for service provider as long as the plug-in is not installed.
The only work-around we've found is to start a new doc in CS3, load the para styles, swatches, master pages, etc from the old CS2 file and copy and paste all the pages from CS2 version to new CS3 doc. VERY time consuming.
We've also tried opening the document in CS2 and managing the plug-ins. But we cannot find a way to turn off, or disable, this cross reference plug-in in CS2. Our thought was to be able to disable it, save the CS2 file, then open that with CS3, hopefully with no plug-in errors.
I appreciate any help anyone can provide.
    DH

    Bob,
Could Dawne have solved this by inx round tripping in CS2 and then opening the new cleansed CS2 file in CS3?
As I understand it, the fix works because inx does not support the plug-in references. So it should work as well in CS2. Is that correct?
    Thanks,
    Al

  • Third Party Plug Ins & RAM

    Hi Guys
My MBP is about a year old now with 2GB RAM and 2.4 GHZ processor.
Until recently I have been running Logic very nicely for my needs, generally 15-20 audio or software instruments tracks with overloading a rather rare occurance. This is with pretty much zero third party plug-ins.
Recently however I purchased EWQLSO silver play edition and have found overloading to be occuring to a quite undesirable degree (with maybe only 3-4 EW instances). Firstly can I clarify that this is simply down to the fact that EW is very CPU hungry? This overloading seems a little extreme, but my sytem is otherwise ok.
As such I am considering upgrading to 4GB RAM and I was wondering will this be worth it and improve my situation here?
I also notice that memory from Apple is rather expensive and is available cheaper elsewhere...is it safe for me to change the memory myself (I don't really trust myself a friend upgraded his RAM manually from a cheap website and encountered one or two problems)?...Also will an upgrade to just 3GB be beneficial at all...I have read that it is better for the RAM in each slot to be identical?
Any other general advise I would very much appreciate.:)
    Sam

So far, no one has mentioned "multitimbral" in this thread. I don't know if your third-party software instruments are multitimbral, but if they are, this may even solve your entire problem all by itself. (If your soft instruments are NOT multitimbral, then this won't help at all.)
I also recommend MAXING out your ram, which is ALWAYS a good idea.
IF your instrument has multitimbral capability (Kontakt Player 2, SampleTank, and many others do), then you'll need to read all about it in their manuals, as each one uses a different method of set-up for Logic. Logic plays multitimbral instruments quite nicely.
Basically, this method allows you to use the multitimbral software instrument only ONCE, for up to 16 separate instrument tracks, thereby saving a lot of ram, since the instrument itself takes up so much ram. To do this, you'll need to create your software instrument track(s) as multitimbral in Logic when you create the tracks, then within the individual software instrument itself, you'll have to assign ascending midi channels to ascending pairs of outputs. In other words, midi channel 1 will be assigned to outputs 1-2, midi channel 2 will be assigned to outputs 3-4, etc., all the way through outputs 31-32 assigned to midi channel 16.
Setting this up takes some time, so when you're done, save it as a TEMPLATE in Logic.
Then to MIX each channel separately, you'll need to create a special AUX channel for each track. In Logic, this means you'll have TWO tracks for each instrument: one for the midi data, and one for mixing, effects, etc. But it saves a TON of ram over using a software instrument instance for each track.
I'll search for an earlier thread in this forum, if it still exists, for more details on how to do this, and post the link here if I find it.

  • Third Party Plug Ins from old computer?

Before I ask my next question, I just want to thank everyone out there that take the time to help others on this board.
I have a non bootable drive from my old computer (just died last week, power supply) and I also have it's contents backed up on an external drive. I have so many third party plug ins for my iMovie on my old G5, but how can I get them on my new computer? Slick was nice enough to re-email me everything I have purchased through them. One Company's plug ins I used most is no longer in business. Do I have to kiss it goodbye or can I still get it into my new Pro Mac?
    Thanks, Beth

As long as you have a working drive, whether FireWire or something else, why not just connect it to your Mac Pro?
As to whether they will work, or cause trouble, that would have to be updated to Universal Binary or to work with current iMovie would be another matter and probably happen anyway.
Importing or migrating old powerppc applications and support files often cause problems and can be a "monkey wrench" effect. Reinstall is always best.
Going forward, always keep originals, burn to CD/DVD all your downloads and software purchases, even copies of your CDs.
If you have a list, or Google even might be able to resolve this.
The fact it isn't bootable you should be able to copy or recover files. You just don't want to use Migration Assistant for applications, even if it sees the drives and could.

  • Third-Party Plug-In Installs

Can you someone post the easiest, most straightforward way to install third-party plug-ins for Shake that require you to manually install them? It seems to me that each plug-in is broken into different sections like icon, interface, macro, etc...
BTW, first post in the forum!
    Dual 2.5 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

It's fairly straightforeward - you put everything in the appropriate folder in ~/nreal - there's a section in the manual, I believe, that tells all about it...
I'm on vacation, so don't have access to Shake, but IIRC:
    ~/nreal/icons for the icons,
    ~/nreal/include/startup for the scripts
    ~/nreal/include/ui for the UI

  • A third party plug-in disappears after a localization patch installation

I have a third party plug-in installed for PhotoShop CS3.
The third party plug-in disappears after installation of a localization
patch. I tried reinstalling the plug-in, but that does not work.
It appears that after the patch is installed, tw10428.dat maps
the English texts on the menu to Korean.
    "$$$/Menu/Help/AboutPhotoshop=Photoshop 정보(&A)..."
    "$$$/Menu/Help/AboutPlugin=플러그-인 정보(&B)"
    "$$$/Menu/Help/Contents=Photoshop 도움말(&H)..."
    "$$$/Menu/Help/Home=Photoshop 온라인(&O)..."
And somehow, the third party plug-in disappears because it's not mapped
in the .dat file. I tried manually editing the file and to input
entries for the third party tool and that does not seem to work.
Do you know how I can resolve this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    Chris,
How can I install it correctly? It is
The plug-in was working fine before the patch. The patch
is just an executable which I ran after I closed Photoshop.
There wasn't any error message and the instance of Photoshop
works fine when I re-run it other than the fact that the plug-in
is no longer in the menu.

  • Third party plug ins-anyone know how to use?

    hello all
i just bought garritan personal orchestral and want to use it with logic express. has anyone had experience with using third party plug ins in logic. ive tried moving folders and files around but i cant get logic to recognise the programme. i used to use traktion as software which had a search system for locationg plug-ins but logic seems to have no such feature.
any help would be greatly appreciated
    cheers
    j

It sounds like you have a PPC version of Kontakt Player. This works as standalone but not in Logic.
Run Logic AU manager to see if it is recognised.
Remember in all these issues, and setting up the pi in Logic, you are Looking for Kontakt Plaer 2, not Garritan Personal Orchestra.
If not you need to update Kontakt Player. This is a Native Instruments Application and can be updated either by
    1. Running Service Centre if it installed when you installed Garitan. It is a separate Application.
    2. Go to NI web site http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=updates_us&flash=7 and update there.
The current version of Kontakt Player 2 is 2.2.1.010

  • How do I find third party plug-ins? (illustrator CS6)

    I have trouble opening Illustrator.
I tried to update my computer (to OS X Mavericks 10.9.5) but i didn't help and i couldn't update Illustrator because of an error.
I saw on this side, that removing third party plug-ins, could work... The only problem is, i don't know which ones are third party and which are not.
I found a list of third party plug-ins, on this side as well, but none of them was in any of the folders with Illustrator plug-in on my computer.
Does anybody know how theese third party plug-ins, or another way to solve my problem?

Okay thank you, I was just trying to avoid to reinstall. I bought my computer through my school and all the adobe programs was already installed, so and can find the "install-file" on my computer.
But thank you, I think I will contact my school then

  • How can I add my software in Adobe's Third-party plug-ins for Adobe Premiere Pro ?

    Hi,
Our company have a software called Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere.
Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere is a recommended FLV, MPG, RMVB, HD  video import plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro. This plug-in enables users  to import FLV videos with various codec like AVC/H.264, AAC, Screen  Video, Nellymoser, MP3, PCM, and Sorenson H.263. Besides FLV video, the  plug-in allows AVCHD import and HD video import in MTS, M2TS, TP, TS,  and MKV formats.
Moyea Importer for Adobe Premiere do not convert your video so it keeps  video quality for you. The plug-in automatically detects the Adobe Premiere versions on your  machine and you can choose the versions to install the plug-in. It  currently supports Adobe Premiere Pro 1.0/1.5/2.0/CS3/CS4 and Elements  3.0/4.0/7.0/8.0.
I notice in Third-party plug-ins for Adobe Premiere Pro this part, Adobe didn't get any such plug-ins. They only have two file support plug-ins and Moyea Importer can fill the blank.
Now I want to submit this software on Adobe's site but I don't know where to submit or who I should to contact. Any suggestions? I really need your help and I am sure it is really good software.

Any suggestion? Admin of this board? Who can help me

  • Third party plug in.

I havé installed 2 third party plug ins on my imac 24, Ivory piano, and Artuia Brass, But i cant find it in my list in the Audio unit manager, and ive tried to rescann it several times, but its not comming up on the list, ive tried to look in the manuels and look around in the forums but havent been able to find an answer, so i wonder if there is a speciel button i have to press or if i have to install in the plug ins in a speciel place to get it to work in logic studio 8.. hope theres and answer for my question!...
    Louis...

when i do that it says... Kind : Component (PowerPC) so i dont know what to get from that?
Just to clarify this, when it says 'Power PC' that means that it will only work on Power PC machines - those are G4, G5, etc processors, and NOT Intel processors. It will either say 'Universal' (meaning it will work on both Intel and PPC machines) or 'Intel' (Intel only, obviously) in the parenthesis. So now you know!

  • Logic Pro 9.1.1 AU third-party plug-ins ongoing issue for many

Where is the Logic development team on this? Nearly all third-party AU plug-ins produce random pops and clicks at the beginning of playback and on occasion randomly during playback but before audio regions in tracks with these plug-ins installed. These pops and clicks are even visible in the track's meter. http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/482381-logic-3rd-party-plugs-pop- click-nightmare-how-does-rest-world-do.html How many people need to complain? Is Logic Pro considered production software?

I can't imagine a more textbook and apple-friendly environment than what I have. 32-bit is not the problem. I don't believe logic runs at 64 until you're on os 10.6 and I'm still on 10.5.8. My entire rig is what you'd see in an apple store logic demo. I've tried nearly everything:
    1) All standard optimization tips including but not limited to no date/time updates, no airport/wi-fi, no bluetooth
    2) I have a ultra high-quality external fw drive by G-drive
    3) Standard issue ensemble with updated firmware
    4) Moving AU component files from system library to user library
If you look at the number of people commenting on the GS thread as well as other forums – the problem is common and needs to be fixed. I'm not the only logic user plagued by this issue:
    http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=43306
    http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=50030
I really believe it has something to do with how many third-party plug-ins handle AU's reset or initialize callbacks; somewhere in between. This bug is clearly affecting many users and I'm coming close to starting a petition and devoting some serious time to making a big dorky stink about it on youtube.
Either the AU spec needs to be updated to clarify some tricks (or hacks) specific to Logic's on-demand DSP usage or the logic team needs to publish a notice to all "Logic" AU developers. Optionally, if Logic had a preference to turn OFF on-demand AU DSP (so that plug-ins are always-on like in every other DAW or...ugh...outboard gear). Logic's on-demand AU DSP handling is outdated considering the processing power available in ANY apple computer made within the last 3 years. My CPU meter in Logic barely even lights up. On-demand DSP is overkill and antiquated and the least Logic can do is provide production or mission-critical users the ability to opt-out if they have the CPU power to do so.
Having said all that; I hope I'm wrong about something and can come back here to eat my words and feel very embarrassed about my rant. I'm going to keep digging for solutions – hopefully, I'll find out the secret to whatever it is the few of you are doing to keep your third-party AU plugs quiet before an audio region starts.
Also; Scott at Stillwell Audio has graciously begun trying to track down this very issue and is one of the few DSPers who has taken interest in helping Logic folk.

  • Third Party Plug-Ins force screenset on numerical Keys

    Hi all,
I switched from G5 and Tiger to Mac Pro and 10.5.5.
After running Logic again I realized, that Logic forces a Sreenset, if a third-party Plug-In is active and you press a key on the numerical keypad. I use the numerical keys for navigating through the song (i.e. 1 and 3 for one bar backwards/forward and 4 and 6 for 8 bars backwards/forward). So, if I adjust a value of a 3rd Party Plug-In and want to navigate through the song, Logic changes the Screenset.
If a Logic or Apple Plug-In is active, this behaviour doesn't occur.
Also strange: I opened the keycommands and reassigned the screenset-numbers 1-9, but when I pressed the numbers which are above the letters (NOT on the numeric pad) and tell Logic to learn the keyPOSITION, it displays the number and the symbol for the numeric Pad.
Could anyone please approve this, or is it just my system?
It would be very nice, if someone could help me in that issue, because that's really annoying...
Thanks in advance and best regards,
    Frank

This did not happen when I upgraded from CS3 to CS4 - all my 3rd Party Plug-Ins made that transition quite successfully.
Yes it did.  You just don't remember having to deal with it.
Photoshop does not ever install in the same folder as a prior version.  Thus CS5 will not see the plug-ins that have been installed in or under the Adobe Photoshop CS4\plug-ins folder.
Thus you will need to install your plug-ins again, pointing them at the CS5 area.  Some (as mentioned above) may need to be upgraded.
