This Airport Extreme base station can't connect to iCloud

I have a Airport Extreme base station (model A1408) running firmware 7.6.4.
In troubleshooting a Back to My Mac issue, I noticed that the configuration page for the base station had a yellow dot next to my apple id in the "Back to My Mac" section of the "Base Station" tab, with words underneath that say, "This Airport Extreme base station can't connect to iCloud".
When I delete the id and re-enter it, the dot goes green and no errors are generated (the id/password tokens are accepted). Then, I push "Update", and after the base station comes back, the light is yellow again. (To be clear, the dot next to the apple id is yellow, not the base station status light, which is always green.)
I'm connected to Xfinity Cable Internet service via a Motorola SB6141.
Everything iCloud related works for my various iOS and MacOS devices except Back to My Mac.
Can anyone point me to a solution? I've already been through Apple's troubleshooting and support docs related to Back to My Mac.

NEVER MIND!
After reverting to the old LinkSys router, I left the AEBS powered up all night. This morning, I tried once again and the AEBS mysteriously started working with my laptop after reconnecting and power-cycling the cable modem. Go figure!
Unfortunately, the iMac in another room doesn't seem to be able to join the new network, but I'll close this thread and perhaps open a new one after doing some more trouble-shooting.

How to get this Airport Extreme base station to produce a wireless network?

I had this Airport Extreme base station working fine at the house that I moved from a couple of days ago.
After my house move, however, it seems that the AE base station isn't producing a wireless network. My wireless laptop isn't detecting a wireless network. Also, the left hand side light on the AE base station is not lit.
The AE base station was softly cushioned during house the move.
Regarding configuration:
My non-wireless iMac (running 10.3.9) connects to the AE base station via an ethernet cable.
Before my house-move, I regularly connected wirelessly via the AE base station from a couple of wireless-equipped laptop computers.
I was using AE software version 5.6. (In desperation, I have just updated to version 5.7 - but that hasn't improved or changed situation.)
At the new house, I found that I had to reset the AE base station back to factory settings before I could successfully connect to the internet through the AE base station from the (non-wireless) iMac.
Since resetting the AE base station at the new house, I can also print via a USB printer that's plugged into the AE base station.
I just cannot pick up any sign of a wireless network from the AE base station.
G4 Powerbook Mac OS X (10.3.9) Problem started while I had Airport Extreme software v5.6. No improvement/change after v5.7 update.

Sorry for my delay in closing this issue.
I got the wireless network running again - though I'm not sure which of a "litany" of separate actions (which I gleaned from dialogs in several similar postings for similar issues to mine) was the solution. I suspect it was one of the following two actions, which have stuck in memory:
1) I relocated a nearby cordless phone cradle/charger/base-station from alongside the Airport Extreme base station to about seven feet (two meters) away. However, the cordless phone is about eight years old, and I believe its radio frequency is far out of the range that I have read (in similar postings) can interfere with the Airport Extreme base station.
2) I re-set the Airport Extreme base station, (a) by depressing the tiny reset button at the rear of the base station for more than 5 seconds (until the led started blinking), (b) from Utilities/AirPort Admin Utility/Configure/Restart. However, I had reset the Airport Extreme base station those ways previously without that restoring the wireless network. Also, I didn't record the sequence of the multiple resets and the configurations at the times of the resets.

Currently use Airport Express -1st Generation-to access internet -purchased 2014 Airport Extreme base station -can I import Express back up configuration to keep current settings . Or is it best to do new Airport Extreme as a new Network .

Just spoke with Cisco about the router. They said the router is compatible with the E1500. They suggested that I contact Apple to see if their default IP address was that same as the router (192.168.1.1). They told me I would have to change it if that was the case. How would I do that?

Can Airport Extreme Base Station 802.11g Connect To Park's Free WiFi?

The RV resort where I'm staying has free WiFi for Internet connections. It shows up on my iBook's Airport list of possible networks in the menu bar, along with my own local network which is an older Airport Extreme Base Station (white dome 802.11g) which has my HP printer plugged into it via an ethernet cable.
However, when I am connected to the park's WiFi via the laptop's Airport network choices, I am NOT connected to my AEBS, and therefore cannot print to the printer wirelesslessly. Is there a way for the AEBS to make the connection to the park's WiFi so I can use both Internet and printer from my iBook G4 without having to switch from one network to use the other?

Sorry, but no. You cannot connect your iBook's AirPort to more than one wireless network at a time. Since it will be highly unlikely that you will be able to create a Wireless Distribution System (WDS) between your RV resort's Wi-Fi and the 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS), you won't be able to extend it to meet your needs.

I am trying to stop my Xbox from connecting to my Airport extreme base station and only connect to my airport express extender. Anyone have any ideas?

I have an aiport extreme base station in my living room and an airport express in my bedroom extending the network. For some reason my xbox along with some other devices always connects to the extreme base station in the living room which has a very low signal. Is there a way to setup a seperate network for my express extender so that I can connect only certain devices? HELP

You would probably want your Express to join the network if an extender isn't required. Reset to factory settings and join the network.
If you do want your Express as an extender run an Ethernet cable between the Express and the Verizon router and set the Express up to be in bridge mode, with the same WiFi network name and password as your Verizon router.

Connecting our Xbox360 to our existing Apple Airport Extreme Base Station.

We have an existing Apple Airport Extreme Base Station at home (connected to a Motorola brand Cable-DSL Modem). This wireless network works magnificently for our PowerBook and iBook... and even for the PC laptops a couple of our "friends" have brought over (and they have to work outside on the porch, since we don't let them in the house with those things).
We broke down and purchased the Xbox360 along with the Xbox360 Wireless Adapter, but I can't get it to connect to our network wirelessly. It connected automatically though, when I used the ethernet cable from the Xbox360 to the Airport Extreme Base Station's output port.
Our wireless network is hidden, and we'd really like to keep it that way for security reasons. Does anyone know if this is possible? Or do we have to sacrifice our network security just to be able to connect wirelessly... so we can get the latest version of that damm Bejeweled game... okay, and play games online... and get HD Movie Trailers that look amazing... I actually am excited about that part.

Scan and Select your Airport
On the Airport Tab
Change Wireless Security
Use WPA Personal
Use a password like this:

Remember to write it down.
I would also change the Wireless Network Name as well, but this is not needed.
Click OK
Click Update
You will now be thrown off the wireless network.
Wait at least five minutes.
The from the Airport icon in the menu bar, select your network, you will be asked for your password, enter the password, check keep in Keychain (so your Mac will remember it).
That's it.
Don't worry about using anything else, WPA is pretty much uncrackable unless you use a dictionary word for a password such as "table".

Airport extreme base station do i have to connect a modem

just bought a base station connected it to a BT home hub(which constantly dropped the wireless connection on both windows and mac)and it works really well fast and no drops
the only question i have is i thought it was a wireless router why do i have to connect it to a modem the guy in the Apple Store said i just had to connect it into the broadband plug but this didnt work??

The AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) must connect to an Ethernet connection. Usually this is provided by an ISP's modem or ISP's modem/router combo device.
Typically you would connect the AEBS's WAN port to the Ethernet output of the BT home hub.

Using AirPort Extreme Base Station to Connect a Hard Drive

I have a wireless network set up using a wireless device provided by my network provider. What I would like to do is to use my Airport Extreme Base station only to connect a hard drive to it. However when doing so, Airport Utility does not recognize or see the Extreme. The Extreme can only been seen if connected to the router provided by my network provider. How can I set up a wireless hard drive or printer with the Extreme without connecting to the network?

I am not expert but I used common sense, I had linksys N series router but recently I bought TC 1TB
so what I dumped my N router in store and went ahead with TC installation, Trust me it took me 10 minutes to configure my 4 HDD 5 computer printer etc with TC
I am sure you have a ethernet modem too separate from your wireless instrument
try to do a clean installation ( thats where all these people who has problem, trying to connect to their existing network
try setting up your AEBS as fresh wireless device connect to your modem and run Airport Utility

Can I use the Airport Extreme Base Station with my already existing D-Link router to increase signal strength?

I already own a wireless router that I would like to keep. Could I use this Airport Extreme Base Station to improve that signal strangth to my room from the living room or to the basement? Would I have to hard-wire both the Base Station and my existing router? You probably have read this question more than once, and I have read some questions of this product too, but for some reason these Apple products I have some trouble with.

Hi, my problem is:
I bought this Airport Extreme Base Station and I´m having lots of problems trying to get it configured, I have tried with the Mac's Airport Utility, with the Windows version too, also with the AirPort Extreme Admin Utility v3.2 on Windows but nothing. This Airport was working but I wanted to change the SSID and the access key but I just can not, I want to know what can I do to configuring it as a normal router. Thanks in advance.

I also have this base station- I found it new in the shrink wrap at the thrift store for $2.
I have a small house, so I don't really need an 'extreme' network.
I have a macPro running 10.6.4.
I also downloaded that app AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow 4.2.5, and read the accompanying article Mac OS X 10.5: Can't configure a supported Apple Wireless device using AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow.
I did get info and checked the "open using rosetta" checkbox, only to get the message "You can't use this version of the application AirPort Utility for graphite and snow.app with this version of Mac OS X."
The newer Airport utility cannot see the device, although i can choose it from my airport icon, and join the network.
I am using it to connect right now, in fact. The problem is, I cannot admin the network, rename it, or give it a password, so all my neighbors can use it now also if they wish.

AirPort Extreme base station as bridge - is WPA allowed?

I have an AirPort Extreme base station that is connected to the Internet via an older Linksys wired router. The Linksys is connected to a cable modem and acts as a router (so it's the DHCP host), while the AirPort acts as a bridge between wireless computers and the Linksys (so "Distribute IP addresses" is unchecked).
When using WEP or no security, everything works great. However, when using WPA, my laptop constantly cycles as it tries to get an IP address without any real success. I've tried all combinations of open/closed networks, different wireless channels, and wireless security types, but WPA just won't work. It's definitely supported by the wireless card and I've entered the password correctly, but no dice.
Does anyone know if WPA is supposed to work in this configuration? I noticed that another post recommended connecting cable modem -> AirPort -> wired router, but other posts recommend cable modem -> wired router -> AirPort. Not sure if it matters or not.

I have a Linksys wireless card (which I cannot find right now) and an Airnet AWN154 wireless card. When the Linksys didn't work, I purchased the Airnet, which also didn't work. This is on several Windows laptops.
To answer your other question, I don't think I've ever successfully gotten WPA to work with these cards, but of course I only have my own base station to test against. My fiance's laptop (with built-in wireless) worked briefly, but was very slow and every couple minutes the connection would drop.
The reason I originally asked if WPA is possible in this configuration is because I ran across some articles indicating that WPA might not work across bridged networks, although that was for different hardware than my Airport Extreme base station.

Using Airport Extreme Base Station with Cable Modem

Hi everyone,
I have just bought an Airport Extreme Base Station. I connected it to my cable modem (Surfboard 3100) through the WAN port and my iMac G4 is connected to it through the Ethernet port. Installed the Airport Utility, and configured the base station with the normal settings of DHCP for Internet and DHCP for internal network.
After restarting the base station, my Internet connection from the iMac through the base station is very slow and most of the time will time-out. My Internet connection through my PowerBook G4 using wireless through the base station is ok though.
My question is, is there some setting which I should set for the Ethernet portion of the base station to make my wired connections to the Internet work?

My iMac G4 does not have an Airport card. I did not physically restarted the base station, its part of the sequence when we update the configuration, that the base station will restart on its own.

Mac Book pro can't connect to Internet through Apple airport extreme base station

I had problems connecting to the internet in the past with my macbook pro. One day it suddenly started working again but then I bought a second apple TV I lost connectivity. I have tried changing the IP address manually and while it shows me connected to the wifi I am still with out internet. When I hooked up the new Apple TV that I bought it booted my computer from it's ip address. The apple TV though wouldn't work and now nor would my computer. I ended up setting the Apple TV's ip address manually and now it works fine. My computer on the other hand does not no matter if I set it manually or not. Even if I plug in the ethernet cable from the base station it doesn't work. It show that it has a self assigned IP address. After I set it manually it shows that I am connected both via wifi and the ethernet cable but I can't connect to the internet. If I plug the modem directly into the computer bypassing the base station I get internet and it is using the IP address that worked originally.
It has something to do with the connection from the base station to my computer but this is odd considering every other device I have: iPhone 4, apple tv, apple tv, apple mini with retina display all work perfectly via wifi (newest apple tv had to be set manually as I stated above but now works fine). When I check the ip of the base station itself it seems to be different from the ip of the computer when the computer was connected directly to the router. I don't understand why my computer now can't connect to the internet via the base station whether it be wifi or by ethernet. Can you please help me trouble shoot this?

Please post some screenshots of your AE setup from the airport utility.. I want to see the summary page, then the network and internet tab.
Please tell us what modem you use.. is it a router??
If you have satellite or 3G wimax etc service they often are limited to 5 IP addresses... the AE takes one and then 4 more devices can join .. no more.
You need to also give us the screenshot of the IP you are getting in a computer that works.

Airport can't connect to my Airport Extreme Base Station

Just had this nagging problem for a couple of days. I can connect and see my aebs in airport utility but can't connect it to network in the airport menu. The network is fine and is working on my macbook, but the macbook pro can't see it. Both laptops are using 10.5.4 any suggestions?

You shouldn't have had to reconfigure the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) just because you have a new MacBook. Was there a particular reason that you needed to?

As suggested in another discussion area, (AirPort), I reset the AEBS to factory defaults. On the TV, I went to >Settings>General>Network>Configure Wireless>Wireless Networks. I could then see the generic "Apple Network xxxxx" on the TV. From my MacBookPro, I verified that I could connect to the TV by launching iTunes and noting that the TV was now visible in the "Devices" menu. Went back to the AEBS and ran through the "Setup" routine. I did NOT use the "Previous Settings" but instead, saved the old settings profile, created a new wireless network and new settings profile and enabled WPA2 Personal encryption. I then went back to the TV and went through the "Settings" routine again (as noted above). This time, after entering my WPA2 password, the TV connected to the network and problem was solved.
