"This Computer" not showing up as a cluster

Hi,
I just bought Compressor 4 and am still figuring out how to use it. From what I've seen from YouTube videos, when you go to share, there should be an option for "This Computer" in the clusters drop down, but I just have "None" and "Other…". Have I missed something? I've tried looking in all the menu options, and I've gone through all the troubleshooting steps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Luke,, just a first attempt guess... I realise you are missing "this computer" in the batch submission but try this as a functional test:
launch compressor.app V4
in the Compressor.app V4 |appliction menus Apple Qmaster | Share this Computer " Setup tab", tick "Share this computer" and tick the Services for "rendering" and "compressor".. just use all defaults regardless of whether you are transcoding or rendering...
reply OK and respond to your root/admin password
quit compressor.app... reply to the "shut down services" message if its there.. and ya passord.
relaunch compressor.app V4 - you should get a "wanna SHARE the services.." msg.. say OK
wait 15 SECONDS... wait for the stuff to fireup in the BG
NOW.. in Compressor.app V4 try and mount the cluster storage.. this will see if you get the menu submit cluster back... do this in Compressor.app |application menu File | Mount Cluster Storage (+shift+M) .. if the cluster storage is in the list this is a great start. Again I realise you only want to use "this computer",.. but stay with us here....
now try and submit your job. Hope fully you will see in the clusters list "your cluster", "This computer" and PLUS. Pick one and let it go.
if it works and you dont want any clustering, then just following the procedure form step 1, then untick the options in Step 2. Shut down and relaunch compressor.app v4..
If there is no joy here, then reply as you need. There are other procedures to get this working..

When I try and submit a batch "This Computer" doesn't show up under my cluster options. This just started Friday, but I didn't get around to try and troubleshoot it until now (Tuesday) because of the holiday weekend. In Batch Monitor it doesn't show up in the left column either in the cluster list. We have another cluster that it is compressing on instead, but the machine that is set up on that cluster isn't nearly as fast as this Mac Pro so it isn't really an option. Has anyone else heard of this? I tried clearing my preferences, but com.Apple.CompressorShared.plist or something is missing. I read to delete it and com.Apple.Compressor.Compressor.plist. I also tried clearing QMaster cache, but that didn't help either.

I had the same problem and I just found the answer.
I noticed that sometimes my local cluster showed up in the cluster options, other times it didn't.
The answer (at least for me), is to reboot your computer then launch Compressor. Seems like Final Cut pro might grab up some resources that Compressor needs. Just quitting FCP doesn't bring back the cluster. If I have run FCP and I need to use compressor, rebooting the computer brings back my cluster 100% of the time.

You need to buy 10.6.x DVD or flash drive (w/ Lion or Mountain Lion).

Windows Vista Computer not showing up in finder

Hi, my WIndows Vista computer is not showing up in finder under Shared. I can connect to my PC from my mac by clicking on finder, go, connect to server and typing in the PC's IP Address, Username and Password. I can also see my Mac computer from my PC running Windows Vista.
What's weird is that it was showing up for awhile but I recently changed my network key and unchecked file sharing on both my Mac and PC.
Afterwards I re-enabled file sharing on both my mac and Vista computer but my PC won't show up in finder.
I can connect to my PC and see the computer in finder but when I click eject, it disappears. I would like it to remain in finder. Is there some setting that I need to enable? Please help

Assuming that the missing machine is part of the same Workgroup/Domain:
Open Terminal and enter "nmblookup -M workgroupname" (without the quotes, and replacing workgroupname with the name of your workgroup or domain.
This will list the IP address of the machine that is the "master browser" of your network. If you are on a domain, the address should be that of your domain controller. There should only be one ip address listed.
You can then get that machine to list the shares that it see on the network by entering:
"smbclient -L ipaddressofmasterbrowser"
You should be able to just press enter when it asks for a password.
This will list available shares and servers.

Why is my free audio download, that I purchased earlier this year/late last year, not showing in my itunes library and/or my icloud?

I don't want to change all my computer's visuals just because firefox has a bug in it! The Menu bar is rendered faintly and this is a bad idea. At least give me the choice . . . see image below. I have vista running ffox 4 and none of the fancy settings can fix this. Also I want transparency on! Most programs work properly. They don't force me to adhere to some idiot programers whims, likes or dislikes.
Of course ranting this way will get me nowhere . . . such is life.

"My Computer" not showing ipod shuffle 2nd gen songs

Im trying to take the music from my ipod shuffle, make a file, and transfer the music to that file to load onto itunes. My problem is that when I click on my ipod through "My Computer", it shows that it is empty. This is a pre-used computer that I just recently came into possession of. I've used this method on other computers and have not encountered a problem before. Help?

I too have the same message. I tried rebooting itunes, I called my manufacturer to make sure my USB ports are 2.0, I went through the r's of the troubleshooting process, I called Apple and they didn't know what was wrong so they sent me a new shuffle. This new one doesn't recognize either. I unplugged everything and made sure that I plugged into the back of the computer. Initially everything worked for us too. I was just when we were trying to charge back up for the first time that it quit working. I am tired of all the "pat" answers without any success. Do I have to purchase a 40 dollare 2.0 USB PCI card for an 80 dollar ipod?

Why do Play lists in my computer not show up in my ipod?

Play lists in my computer do not show up in my ipod. I also get the message that my ipod cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application.
I have two computers and two ipods but only one itunes account.
It worked fine before but recently I noticed that my playlists (in my computer) don't show up in my ipod.

Yeah, if you move song files around outside of iTunes, it doesn't know where they are.
And iTunes doesn't have a "watch folder" feature like some other jukebox players, where it automatically sees new songs in the iTunes folder.
You have to open iTunes, drag the files over tot he library from Win Explorer. This way it adds an entry to the itl library file...which is an index of where the songs actually are.

When I open some images, blank white boxes appear on the image past a certain zoom point in random locations. This does not show up in the tools though (liquify, camera filter, ect). how do i stop this from happening?

It happens mostly at random, but once it shows up on an image, even if i close and re open it it will still show up. if i zoom out far enough it will disappear, but as soon as i zoom back in again it will reappear. its never in the same spot on different images and never the same size. i was already on with tech support and they deleted my settings folder which seemed to fix it for a short time (like a week), does anyone know what is causing this or how to fix it?

What do you mean "it may have worked" – did it or did it not?
Anyway it is not a remedy but diagnostics and if it makes a difference it points at the GPU driver as a likely culprit.

Windows 8.1 laptop computer not showing in SCCM 2012 devices collection

Hi,
I am trying to do a POC on license management from SCCM 2012. I have configures a SCCM 2012 server and intune subscription also. I have Android, iOS and desktop apps uploaded (.msi). when I enrolled android and ios devices its shows up in SCCM,
devices collection but do not show in Intune.
my company portal is nicely coming up on android and iOS tabs. on the other hand company portal showing only Web apps, on a win8.1/7 laptop.
When I tried to enroll 2 windows 8.1/ 7 laptop (intel x86), they donot show up in SCCM. clients of intune manually installed, endpoint protection of SCCM installed also on both boxes.
I tried updating membership in SCCM for both know and unknown type, many time and also triggered Deployment of some desktop app, to the win 8.1 laptops. the desktops are showing in Intune All devices -> all computers nicely. But
not in SCCM2012.
what did I missed, I tried to add all the logical roles. below is some details what shows up in Intune:

If you installed the Intune agents on the Win 8.1 and Win 7 systems, then they will never show up in ConfigMgr.
There are basically two parts of Intune -- a Mobile Device Management piece and a Windows management piece. The Intune connector in ConfigMgr takes over the MDM piece and nothing more. When ConfigMgr takes over this MDM piece, as Torsten said, all MDM devices
enrolled show up in ConfigMgr and not Intune because that's now controlled by ConfigMgr. The Windows management piece remains unchanged and separate though and so those systems will be directly managed by Intune only or ConfigMgr only.
So you have three options there:
- Install the ConfigMgr agent and managed using COnfigMgr
- Install the Intune agent and manage using Intune
- Enroll the systems using OMA-DM which manages them as if they were devices. This means so you don't get SCEP or Windows Updates or most of the other ConfigMgr functionality. This is only valid for Win 8.1 though.

Where "first table" is merch_order and "second table" is export_order1?
How many distinct orders are in each table?
Are there any NULL order numbers in either table?
I'd put money on the fact that if commenting out a clause causes a number of rows to be returned, that clause is filtering out all the rows. You'll need to go through your data to figure out why the NOT IN clause is filtering out all your rows.

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

I am trying to sync my 2nd generation ipod touch (2.2.1) after almost 3 years in Windows 7 machine. I installed itunes, but when I try to (Store-> Authorize this Computer), it asks for my apple id credentials. After entering details when i click "Authorize" it takes hours, displaying message-"Accessing itunes store". I had forgotten my password and i am using the new password i reset using "forgot password" link in apple website. Please advise how to authorize and upgrade my ios
I am able to access the music, pictures and video files but not able to add new files or update the apps

To authorize you have to log into the account.
Try rebooting the computer
Powering off and then back on your router.
