"This Connection is Untrusted" without the "I Understand the Risks" option?

I am running Firefox 33.1 on Windows 7 Ultimate. In the recent past I get the "This Connection is Untrusted" message every single time I sign into a hotel or airlines club to get access to the internet. The accompanying "I Understand the Risks" option is not present, just the "Get Me Out of Here." If I did not have Opera and Chrome and IE on my computer as a back-up I would not be able to access the internet other than when I am at home. Please do not suggest clearing cache and cookies. In my 30 + years of computing experience the only time that has helped is with a password issue, when a password seems to get locked in.

does it make a difference when you go into the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > network > connection - settings...'' and set firefox to directly connect to the internet (that's the 'no proxy' option)?

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details to expand this section. If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.

I get "This Connection is Untrusted" and hit the "I understand the risks..." but get no "add exception" option.

You shouldn't get that error with such common sites.
You may need to install or update the mozilla-nss packages via the software update of your Linux distribution.

"This connection is untrusted" shows up CONSTNATLY!!! and I cannot move the page down to get to the bottem of I understand the risks to override it. How do I do that or how do I TURN IT OFF!!!

Just got this warning for facebook, Amazon, and Google, I have just told my clients to stop using firefox until the problem is fixed, it is a support nightmare because you have inexperienced users calling in convinced that they have a virus on their computer, and that they need to unplug the internet to prevent anything bad from happening.

You know what can we have a better more accurate statement, on that warning, like Hi, thanks for stopping by this website may be sharing a security certificate with a parent organization, it may not really be a bad thing we just wanted you to know about it before you go on your merry way. Oh and by the way were going to make you jump through hoops and clicks check boxes and do this and do that before we let you go on your merry way, wait, " Are you really sure that you want to be doing this?" Do you know what your doing, perhaps you should call your ISP for advice, and get support from someone who has nothing to do with this issue.

On a "This Connection Is Untrusted" webpage, I can see the option "I Understand The Risks", but clicking it doesn't do anything, as if it's not even there.

This is not the first time I've tried to add exceptions, but it is the first time I've not been able to even click the "I Understand The Risks" option.
Note: The option is not invisible or missing, it is un-clickable.

How do I get rid of the "This Connection is Untrusted" message?

I have used my firefox browser for 1 1/2 without any problems. Now all the sites I go to give me the warning message that "This Connection is Untrusted." I can no longer access email or my university website to see my grades- nothing works. Even when I click that I understand the risks and verify the certificate, I can still only get so far- but it's never all the way to where I need to be.
How can I get rid of this annoying problem?

As for exporting a known good certificate from another browser, sure good idea, but it doesn't seem to work. I tried exporting from IE, Firefox did the import without complaint, but it still complains. At any rate, I don't care about that. What about on https://www.google.com/ ? Can you load that? If so, take a look at the "Issued by" section by clicking the padlock in the address bar, then "More Information" then "View Certificate".

The same sites are still working perfectly on an older computer without these issues. They also work in other browsers, but Firefox is my default.

As there have been no further responses to this thread, I've finally marked Google Chrome as my default browser on both computers.

Twitter doesn't even give me the option to accept the risks at all and shows this error (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer). I've tried resetting Firefox, I've checked the time and date, and I've removed and added Firefox to see if that would work. ok, unfortunately the fiddler2.com issuer in certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally.

Is that content loaded in an iframe?
You can check that via the right-click context menu to see if there is a "This Frame" item. 
If that is the case then try top open the frame in a new tab or otherwise check the Technical Details of the error message.

Clear your history/cookies and stuff like that on Firefox and then retry. If that doesn't work try restarting the computer or accessing iCloud via Google Chrome or Safari for the time being. I feel your pain, I love Firefox.
