This content requires hdcp for playback.  so I paid $100 for it and now they stop it from working?

I have an atv 2, my tv uses componet, I have used it to rent and watch movies on it for a year at least but now it says this content requires hdcp for playback.  so I paid $100 for it and now they stop it from working?
I also have the first atv, I get the same message

lol, I had to go look at the back of that, I've been using it so long with componet. I started getting the hdcp message a few months ago on it. been using it for years with componet now I cant.  what I meNt on the AT2 is that when I bought it, I was able to use it, rent moves, etc. since I got it using an adaptor because of my tv. It just recently was rendered incapable along with the componet output on the AT1.
My tv is a 65"  Hitachi rear projection,  with no hdmi. It's old, but still has a great picture

  • "This content requires HDCP for playback..."

I am trying to play Star Trek HD on my atv but I get a message that states "this content requires HDCP for playback." My TV is HD and the atv is connected with an HDMI cable that I purchased at the Apple Store. I have been able to play HD movies on the atv until now??? I was also able to play Star Trek HD on Tuesday without problems but now...nothing! Perplexing, frustrating, and down right ridiculous! Can someone please help? By the way, a restart of the atv did nothing nor did messing with the HDMI connection in the atv settings....

Generally I'd say either, and would be reluctant to blame either device. However there are more HDMI issues than usual cropping up with the latest software, so I wouldn't rule out that the issue will simply go away with a future software revision, although I still wouldn't feel confident blaming either.
Of course HDMI and HDCP are not the same thing, but it's likely an HDMI issue caused the tv to be unable to reply to the HDCP call from the tv.

  • How can I fix apple tv error "this content requires hdcp for playback"

how can I fix apple tv error "this content requires hdcp for playback" I've done everything suggested in troubleshooting and still my apple tv don't work.  I'm thinking on returning it, since it doesn't work.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Check that the HDMI cable is correctly seated at both ends.
Try disconnecting the cable and connecting it again.
    Try another HDMI cable.
Make sure your TV supports HDCP
Try the Apple TV with another TV

  • I keep getting "This content requires HDCP for playback" with my new Apple TV 3.

I keep getting "This content requires HDCP for playback" with my new Apple TV 3. I've returned one and got a new one. I've turned everything on and off. I've upgraded my bandwith. I've tried using different HDMI ports. Nothing is working.
Sometimes a movie will start to play for about 3-5 seconds and then freeze. My music plays fine as well as other videos that are not HD.
This has been going on for 3 weeks now and Apple Support and Genius Bar couldn't help.
Would appreciate any other solutions folks came up with.
    Thanks.

Thanks. I'll try to get a new HDMI cable, but that ****** me off since I bought the one I had from Apple thinking I'd avoid any issues like this.
I've also never had a movie play and have also tried Reset.
Since the movie starts to play for a few seconds, I'm assuming it is not my TV.
    Thanks!

  • Problem: "This content requires HDCP for playback"??

I own the new Apple Tv, just today I keep seeing this message (Again!!) "This content requires HDCP for playback". What I don't understand is that I have been able to watch Movies on Apple Tv before, why not now? I haven't changed the cables at all. This has happened before but the new update has (i though) fixed that problem.
Im not to sure what to do now.

AFAIK not all content contains HDCP.
HDCP errors can also be caused by faulty cabling or software issues between devices. You could try pulling the HDMI cable and restarting both the Apple tv and TV.

  • This content requires HDCP for playback problem! Apple TV2

Owned Apple TV for two weeks. Two weeks ago, everything was fine for films already in my iTunes library.
This week, when selecting play on a movie, I get the message 'This content requires HDCP for playback problem' inconsistently. Some vids work, some don't. Then they do then they don't! I have tried on a Samsung TV and a Sony Bravia? Same for both!
How do I resolve this. I have tried different HDMI ports, turned Apple TV 2 off and on. Tried different cables (Although my HDMI cable is the one I purchased from Apple).
Any suggestions? Is it something Apple need to fix? This is kinda embarrassing when I tell friends how good Apple TV is, get them round to watch a movie and inconsistently get this.
    Many Thanks for any help
    Dave.

I too sadly have this handshaking issue. I'm in Phoenix, AZ. Day one buyer for ATV2. Worked all of about two days in terms of streaming HD content from either my MAC or netflix. About the third time i tried to stream HD content from Netflix or Blu Ray digital copies from my Mac, I get the HDCP compliance message stating my display is not authorized.
I have tried every concievable combination of unplugging and rebooting of TV (Samsung 2005 DLP), ATV2, and HDMI switcher (Monoprice) and nothing will work. My DirecTV HD-DVR works like a charm. If I rent an HD pay per view from DirecTV, no problem. If I rent an HD movie on iTunes, won't display it due to the HDCP issue. I've NOT ONCE had an issue with my DirecTV HDDVR having an HDCP compliance issue and of course its connected to my TV via HDMI thru my monoprice HDMI four port switch.
I guess the only other thing I could try is exchanging the unit itself. But everything else works as advertised. It feels like this is just a software issue that needs to be patched, and fast.

  • This content requires HDCP for playback, HDCP isn't supported?

This content requires HDCP for playback, HDCP isn't supported by your HDMI connection. This content requires HDCP for playback. What the! What is this all about? It appears that no one knows how to fix this. Have I wasted my money here?

I am assuming you are connecting your iPad via the Digital AV connector to a TV. If so, it sounds like the TV does not provide HDCP. Is this the case?

  • I have an iphone and my daughter has an ipod.  She has all my contacts showing up on her ipod.  I deleted them and now they are gone from both.  is there any way of retreiving this deleted information.

I have an iphone and my daughter has an ipod.  She has all my contacts showing up on her ipod.  I deleted them and now they are gone from both.  is there any way of retreiving this deleted information.

When you share an iCloud account, any data you sync with the account is merged, and any actions you take on one device (such as deleteing contacts) is synced to all other devices sharing the account.  To avoid this, each person's device(s) should have a separate iCloud account with a separate ID.  (You can continue to share your iTunes account; it does not need to have the same ID as the one used for iCloud.)
To create separate icloud accounts, decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one that will be changing accounts, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).
As for recovering the deleted contacts, you can try restoring her phone from her most recent backup.  This may recover the contacts, however it often doesn't.  Restoring to an iCloud backup has to be done in the initial setup process.  If she have any data on your phone now that is not in the backup that she wants to save she will need to do that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  You will then go through the setup screens as you did when the phone was new. When given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

  • Is Photoshop CC a scam? I paid $260. for a one year membership. activated at register and now they want $50 a month to use the system.

This is my first time, can someone answer my question?
What was the $260 for?  Why do I have to pay more money to get Photoshop CC?

If you purchased a one year subscription for the price you mention then that is all you will need to pay for it.  It is possible you downoloaded the wrong file for initiating the subscription.  If you contact Adobe support they should be able to help you work thru this.  Since it is the weekend you might have to wait to get their attention.

  • HT5824 Somehow my yahoo messenger got joined with my contact list on my phone. I deleted them, and now they are gone from my messenger. Is there any way they are saved in the cloud for a period of time so I can recover them?

Somehow my yahoo messenger got linked to my phone contact list. I deleted them from my phone, and now I have lost them in messenger. Is it possible to retrieve them somehow?

Run App Store, authenticate with the AppleID used to register the Mac and check in the purchases tab. If you're entitled, the iLife apps should appear there for re-download.
No, borgeano, in this modern Lionized world physical install media are passé. Need to convince Apple's servers to cough up the goodies.

  • HT204074 I have an iPod nano and I had purchased from iTunes random songs and downloaded lots of my personal albums and now they are gone from my iTunes account and they are in SyncUp.  I never meant for that to happen.  How do I get them back to my iTune

I have an iPod nano.  Somehow an update for SyncUp appeared and I updated it.  Now all the music from my iTunes account including songs I purchased and my own personal albums are all on SyncUp.  I definitely did not want that to happen.  How do I get my music back to my iTunes account?  Thank you.

iTunes and Apple's devices work as an ecosystem. iTunes is designed to sync with Apple's products, not anyone else's. You'll need your songs in a format compatable with the Samsung phone and to use the software transfer program supplied/recommended. It is essentially not an Apple/iTunes problem. You may have better luck finding the information you need on Samsung's forums.

  • This content requires HDCP for playback- 2013

Why am I just now getting this error message?  I have a 2nd Generation Apple TV and a Toshiba LCD TV.  I have recently (within the last week) updated each of them to the latest software/firmware (Apple TV 5.3).  They are connected by HDMI cables that were brand new 6 months ago.
I have reset the Apple TV, unplugged the HDMI cable and put the Apple TV in sleep mode for 10 minutes and have unconnected and reconnected the HDMI cable.
I cannot access Hollywood Trailers or ESPN (which I can access via Xfinity).

I have been getting this HDCP error message from iTunes while trying to watch Ironman 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness. I have 2 PCs. Both are Dells. The first one I have is a XPS 8300 connected to my HD monitor through a HDMI cable. I have an ATI Radeon 5700 Graphics Card. My Dell is running Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center 64 bit operation system 8 gigs of RAM i7 processor. I have installed the latest version of iTunes. Still I get this HDCP error message.
My 2nd Dell is an XPS 400 running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit OS, Pentium 4 processor 4 gigs of RAM (3.2). A NVidia GeForce 9500 GT Grapihics card with 1gig on board RAM. I am using a DVI to HDMI cable to my Samsung LED 3D TV, model UN55C7000. I can watch my HD movies on this machine while "streaming" them from the cloud, no problem.
So I took my 1st Dell (XPS 8300) and hooked it up to my TV the same way my 2nd (XPS 400) was connected and guess what? Still get the HDCP error message.
With all the hoopla about switching cables turning on and turning off this or that, it sounds like Apple or iTunes doesn't want to take a single bit of responsibility, blaming everything but the code which needs to be fixed.
But at least I can watch the movies I paid the usage rights for on at least one of my PCs. From what I understand from other end users, this problems is not only on my 1 PC, but on MACs whether they are desktops or notebooks.
My next step in hoping to SOLVE this issue is to see if I delete the downloaded copy from my 1st (XPS 8300) PC and just try to watch the movie from the cloud. For this is how I was able to watch it on my 2nd (XPS 400) PC.
