This copy of iTunes will expire in 119 hours.

I have been getting this message whenever I open iTunes. I'm running version 9.2f1 (45). It appears I am using the latest version. What is with the messages that it will expire?

I managed to find another post in the forums that answered this question. Somehow, I got a beta version installed on my computer. I had to install the current release version instead. Version 9.2 (61) is now my version. No more expiration message.

  • Error message - please help! "This copy of iTunes will expire in 113 hours"

    Hello,
I opened up iTunes today and received this popup which said "This copy of iTunes will expire in 113 hours". I have never seen anything like this and have no idea why. I only ever use iTunes on my one laptop. I use Leopard and have iTunes version 9.2f1 (45) installed.
The only thing I can possibly think of really is that I had the general release of OS4.0 on my iPhone rather than the public release.
    Can anyone assist?

Completely removing a beta before installing is always the recommended procedure. That way one can be sure that all beta components have been removed; an installer may not always overwrite a beta version since it may not be clearly identified to the installer as such.
    Regards.

Yes, beta versions of software often are set with an expiration date.

  • This copy of ITunes will expire in X hours.

I've received a message for the last few days stating, "This copy of Itunes will expire in X amount of hours". It's now down to 14 hours. I haven't figured out why this is occuring. Does this mean I need to purchase ITunes? What do I need to do? Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I tried your solution, but it doesn't work.  Seems that I have 10.5.1 beta, but the production version is 10.5.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall the release version, but the release can't read the itl file since that is a "new" version.  Okay, what do I do?
jtnlon, were you able to fix this?  Were you on 10.5 beta or 10.5.1 beta?

  • This version of itunes has expired?

I cannot open iTunes, only says, "This copy of iTunes has expired." Where do I find the newest version?

You apparently got hold of a beta version which, as beta versions often do, had an expiration date and hence has now stopped working. You can download the release version of iTunes via the "iTunes" tab above. You'll probably have to delete the copy of iTunes currently on your system before installing the release version or it won't work (do not delete any of the files in the iTunes folder in your user home folder).

when i go to open up itunes this message appears "This copy if itunes is corrupted or not installed properly" If i remove itunes will i lose all my bac ups?

Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Can you launch your iTunes now?

Howeever it says the same thing when i try to download from the app store.  How do I get this reinstalled??

First uninstall your copy of Itunes--http://www.tekrevue.com/tip/uninstall-itunes/  (make sure you empty crash)  Then you go to the applications website and reinstall it.  Dont worry about losing any of your music because thats in a separate folder.   Thats it---it works.

    I have a windows 7 64x SP1.
Every time I install iTunes 12 I get this message when I try to open it:"This copy of iTunes is damaged and it has not been correctly installed. Please, install iTunes again.(-42404)".
The instalation process runs smoothly without any error message and iTunes has been installed in my computer before. The problem started with the update no. 12. Any idea what's going on? Thank you

if itunes will not run, you probably have mangled windows badly
one feature of windows 8 is the refresh that saves libraries,
because you are using windows 7, you will need to backup all files to another storage device

Do a back up then try reinstalling.
You should always back up before do an update, upgrade, anything with the system in case something goes wrong. That way you still have a current copy of your data.
Try starting in safe mode, then running the update. This will disable most 3rd party sofwarelike anti virus and other things prople put on their machines that can cause problems.
    Safe mode:
Power off, power on holding the shift key, continue to hold until you see the progress BAR then re;ase and allow to finish booting. Note this will take longer than a regular boot. Login and try running software update or use the link here to download. Use an ethernet connection if possible as it is much less prone to corruption than wireless.

After download and install logout and restart normally.

try *removing iTunes completely* (click here and follow the instructions), then reinstall it using the standalone installer from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
note this will not touch your media files, playlists, ratings, etc.

  • How do i fix my itune?it says, this copy of itunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly please reinstall itunes.i tryed to update to ios7 and this has happend.any help would be great

I've got myself a new iphone 5s and I tried to update itunes. Now its telling me that this copy of itunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly Please reinstall itunes.I'm not good with computers so any help would be great.I'm scared if i reinstall i will lose everythig.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.
