This Forum does not report correct system info and thinks I am still using v3.6.x
Visiting the Forums the sidebar info is incorrect. For example I am advised:
System Details
Windows XP
Firefox 3.6.16
Wrong!!
I am using Vista and Firefox 4.0
On this page the info is correct.
These silly inconsistencies suggest that this version has been inadequately tested.
Upgraded and now bitterly regret it! This info is wrong; the Google search bar no longer works correctly - beginning to lose confidence in the browser!
When visiting forums the 'System details' are the details of the user that posted the question, not your system details. For example look at the System details on this page, it correctly identified you as Fx 4.0 on Vista.

The TIme Machine volume does not have that checkbox.
I think the issue is with your Finder...
Go to Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences trash these files:
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.) -

The Web Apps services DOES NOT WORK on the HP Envy printer.
Nobody at HP s bothered or concerned about this!!!!!
I have just spent £250.00 on a printer that does not work correctly.
Everything else works i.e. airprint, wireless printing, email printing SO DO NOT ASK METO DISABLE/RE-ENABLE SERVICES.
I wonder how many times it will take for me to post this to get a response.

I apologize that no one has gotten back to you but I'd like to explore your issue a little mroe to see if we cannot get this problem resolved for you.
If you could provide me with a few bits of information, I'd greatly appreciate it.
1. Please print a printer status report from the front panel of the Printer. To do this, on the front panel, press the Tools button (looks like a wrench) > then Printer Status Report. Once this page prints out, underneath the Product Information Header, there should be a field for Firmware Version. Please report to us which version you have.
2. If you could inform us as to who you used for your Internet Service, we'd greatlly appreciate it. An ISP is somebody like Qwest, Comcast, CableOne, Timewarner, Cox, and etc.
3. Also your router make and model would help as well.
This will help narrow down some possible reasons for your problem with the Web Apps portion of our Web Services.

After Effects does not recognize correct system resources
On my computer at work, I have After Effects CS4 and After Effects CS3. The computer is a 2x2.66 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon with 8 gigs of ram running OSX 10.5.6.
Both versions of After Effects can only see/use 1.7 gigs of ram. My understanding is that After Effects should see as available 3 gigs of ram. (On the identical computer at home I can in fact see 3 gigs of ram.)
I need the maximum resources when working since I need to do longer HD ram previews. In addition at this low memory setting the software does not run right, with multiple memory crashes that should not be happening -- the kind of things that happen when you have insufficient system resources to run a program. I'm an advanced user who has been using this software for over 15 years -- it's not operator error.
I'm hoping someone has some suggestions of things I can do to alleviate this bug.

This is the easy question, so I'll deal with it first.
This a borderline bug. After Effects CS4 isn't able to take advantage of hyperthreading (which turns 8 physical processor cores into 16 virtual processor cores). However, it can _see_ the virtual cores, and it reports them as being there. Yeah, it's misleading. We fixed it in After Effects CS5---and we fixed it in the good way, by making After Effects CS5 capable of using the virtual cores provided by hyperthreading.
OK. Now for the harder question:

Please be very specific about what you mean by "see". Exactly what are your settings in the Memory & Multiprocessing preferences? (A screenshot would remove all ambiguity.)

I was told that upgrading the OS would slow down my machine significantly. I don't plan on using iCloud for anything other than setting up Find My iPhone. Any suggestions on how to activate iCloud with my current OS?
You would need to upgrade OS X to 10.7.5 (Lion) or later to sync your Mac with iCloud. If you have 2GB of memory and 8GB of available hard drive space, you could upgrade to OS X Mavericks for free from the Mac App Store. After upgrading, you can sign into your iCloud account in System Preferences>iCloud.
However, you don't need to do anything if you only need to use Find My iPhone. To use Find My iPhone to track your iOS devices from a computer you go to icloud.com from your browser, sign into the iCloud account the device you want to track is using and click Find My iPhone. -
EyeTV hybrid not seen in system info and not recognised on usb

I have an Elgato hybrid usb tv reciever which is not being recognised on my 27" imac. I thought it was faulty but when plugged into my 21" imac it works. I reinstalled the software and it worked until it was rebooted at which point it dosn't work again. I performed a PRAM reset which seemed to work until a reboot. Now neither reinstalling the software or PRAM test get it to work and I'm thinking they didn't solve it before. I have removed all usb devices to try and get the elgato to work. Elgato support say it is a file permissions issue but since I only have one user configured and that is admin level, I don't believe that is the issue.
Other USB devices work in the USB port and the Elgato works on another machine.
Any ideas for me to check?

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

I followed the instructions from your website on how to block all co9kies and i did not work. You used to have a simple menu for blocking and unblocking cookies, which seems to have disappeared. If I can't block cookies, then I will have to use another browser where I can. Thanks for your help.

The web site of Adobe does not show correctly in FireFox
I have a bizarre problem. The site of Adobe (including where I can download the flash player) does not show correctly in FireFox and I only see it as a text HTML page, but without most images (typically, for instance, I do not see the image "Download now" but see a text line "Dowload now", and so on...
This seems to specifically affect the Adobe web site as I have no problme for other web sites (so far).
It is something specific to FireFox as I do have the problem with Internet Explorer.
The problem persis even if I restart FireFox without any add-on (safe mode).
Any suggestion ?Does this only happen in Firefox? What do you see with Internet Explorer or Chrome? If it is only Firefox, I'd try these steps in this order:
1. Clear your cookies and cache
2. Reset your Firefox settings
3. Make a new profile

I know you are trying to use a scanner, but try resetting the printing system. This also resets for scanners.

REPORT DOES NOT RUN CORRECTLY , URGENT PLEASE HELP
Hi,
I am trying to run a report from visul basic screen, but it does not run correctly. Here is how I am running the report. There is a screen developed in VB This screen prompts the user for user id and password. Once it gets that, it connects to the oracle database and pulls out a column from a table. And passes that value as a parameter to the report. Now I am calling the the report for each individual value . There are 21 value being pulled out of the database and it invokes the report 21 times. So there are 21 report engines gets started. Is there a better way to do that ? Secondly when I pass the parameter , some parameters does not pass correctly I guess , because its not generating any out put . Like out of 21 may be 10 or 11 reports gets generated correctly but rest of the reports are blank. I debug the screen i saw that the parameter value is correct, everything seems good. But still the reports are comming blank. Any Idea why it is so ? The command line that i am using in VB screen is

In the above command " adoRecBrand!Brand " is the parameter thats being passed. This is actually a recordset and brand is the column in it. When I debug the screen , I see the value also there. But the report comes out blank. Please help. This is urgent.

FerozThe way you call reports is not scalable. If you have 100 records come back from database, you would end up launch 100 engines at the same times, which probably will blow up your machine. You should use oracle reports server to do that. You can either use rwcli60 to submit the job to reports server, or invoke rwcgi60 from URL.
I am afraid some of reports engine failed to start and you get nothing back in your case.
After switch to use reports server achitecture, if you still see some report is blank in your application, then you can run that report with that special set of parameters manually and see if any problem with the report itself.

SL500 " this program does not support this system"
I've an SL500 with windows 7 64bit system. It has a fresh system installed. I've installed all the necessary drivers correctly.Now I'm not able to install the followind items with system update utility:
Thinkpad ultranav driver for windows 7
Thinkpad hotkey features integration driver
Thinkpad Ultranav utility
If I try to install manually I receive an error message " this program does not support this system".

(and the latest version 3.84.2000)
It is a faulty installation!
2 Files missing.
Solution until Lenovo fixes the installation:
Download and extract latest version.
Download and extract version 3.81.0100.
Copy the files SWI32.sys and SWIX64.sys from version 3.81.0100 to the corresponding folder of the latest version.
Start setup.exe of latest version.
According to the file properties SWI32.sys and SWIX64.sys are used as 'System Information Detector'.
No wonder we get the error message 'this program does not support this system'
Lenovo, please fix it. -
i have a problem with installing PS13 as I get an error message "This installer does not support installation on a 64-Bit Windows operating system. Please download the 64-Bit version of Photoshop Elements." how do i do this
Try downloading the trial. It ought to detect that you have a 64-bit system.
You aren't using Vista, are you? PSE 13 requires at least win 7 and I think a few folks with vista have gotten a similar error message on trying to install it. -
