Hi, are you running in an admin account?
If you aren't the admin, you'll still need the admin's credentials.

  • This installer requires admin privileges to run

    I'm trying to install a new Application (ViaCAD 2D/3D). I get the message "This installer requires admin privileges to run" with no option to enter admin password.
    Thing is, I am clearly the Admin user with all privs.
    Searched a lot of forums and tried a lot of ideas... but to no avail. Prior installations proceeded without error. Of course, the manufacturer support simply blamed Apple and closed the support question. Console log shows no errors.
    This one has me totally stumped (and I have 20+ years admin experience).

    Update:
    The application installed on another system running 10.4. On the offending system, I tried another Admin account, ran repair permissions from Utilities, made sure Admin had R/W privs on Apps folder, moving the .dmg file to the Applications folder, did a reboot, searched for a VidCad plist file. Out of ideas.

  • Installer requires Admin Privilege to run

    I'm a new user on a Macbook. Its been about 20 years since I last was on an apple. I need help, I'm trying ton install a game on my laptop. When I click on the installer to install the game a window pops up saying "installer requires Admin privilege to run" and the only option is to quit. What do I need to do to get this game installed?
    Thanks so much!!

    /Applications/Utilities/Disc Utility - a very handy tool in all sorts of situations.
    I'm most surprised that a new account with admin permissions wasn't able to perform the install I'm at a loss what might be causing that to be honest ... maybe the repair permissions on the drive will sort it out, perhaps the entire folder has had write access removed somehow. You could select the destination folder location and Get Info on it and look at the permissions settings at the bottom, does it allow any user to Write there or is it Read only I wonder ?

  • Run executable at end of installation. Admin privileges?

    Hi all,
    As always, please forgive this questioning if it has already been answered somewhere.
    Here is my scenario:
    I have a batch file with the following in it:
    cd C:\Temp\install\anotherInstaller
    setup.exe /q /AcceptLicenses yes
    "anotherInstaller" is an installer for a different LabVIEW application that I am including with the main one.
    I run the batch file from the "Advanced" page of my installer under "Run executable at end of installation."
    I run my top level installer with admin privileges in Windows 7 x64.
    The installer hums along and everything works as expected until the batch file gets called.
    The batch file gets called successfully by my top level installer, but "anotherInstaller" doesn't run.
    The batch script works fine if I run it by itself with elevated privileges, but doesn't run anotherInstaller if it is called by my top level installer.
    My theory is that the executable called under "Run executable at end of installation" does not execute with elevated privileges, even if the top level installer does.
    Can anyone verify this?
    Is there any other reason why my second installer won't work?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

    Okay, it does appear to execute with elevated privileges, and I have a new clue:
    When I turn off the "/q" option on anotherInstaller, the following message appears in a dialog:
    "Error: Another Installation/uninstallation session, deployment session, or NI Update Service is running. Finish that session and try again."
    Ugh.  Anyone know of a good way to "piggyback" another LabVIEW built installer as part of a batch file?  (I have a whole ton of other housekeeping I handle in my batch file, so I can't very well avoid using the batch file.)

  • Why do I get the message "The installer requires admin priviledges to run" when trying to install from a DVD?

    I am trying to install software from a DVD on my Mac Mini, When I click on the installer I get the message "The installer requires admin priviledges to run." I have admin priviledges when I look at the account info in Sytem Preferences. ANyone have an idea what to do about this?

    It's a defective installer. If it needs elevated privileges to run, it should prompt for an administrator password. Since the installer is defective, you can assume that whatever it installs -- or would install, if it worked -- is also defective.

  • Add-On installation showing admin privileges error

    Hi all,
    Scenario for SAP 9.0 PL 07 :-
    I have logged in using Windows Standard user profile.
    The SAP folder in " C:\Program Files\SAP " has been given full Admin privileges.
    But still not able to install the Add-Ons. Giving error of no rights/permission .
    Can you please help me locate some other folder which need to be given Admin privileges so that the Add-Ons will install.
    Regards,
    Angad

    @ Pvsb prasad k,
    Thanks for the reply.
    We have tried giving full rights(full control) to the user for the SAP folder in " C:\Program Files\SAP ".
    But still the Add-On installation problem exists.
    Is there any other folder of SAP which requires the full control permission to be given?
    Please suggest.

  • HT1926 trying to download itunes 10.6 on w7 64-bit, getting error msg: this installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\program data\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs ITunes.  Log on as administrator.  (I already am!)

    Can't install latest itunes. error msg: "This installer has insufficient priviliges to access this directory:  C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\ITunes. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator."  I am logged on as administrator and have been since i've owned this laptop.  Any suggestions?

    That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
    XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
    Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
    Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
    Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
    Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Getting Admin privileges

    Hello.  I have a brand new iMac 10.9.4, and I am trying to install a game from a disc.  When I click on the installer icon, I get this message:  "This installer requires admin privileges to run."  This is a home computer, and I am signed in as the administrator.  So why won't the installer open?  This is an older game, from 2007, but it should still open, I should think.  Any suggestions would be most welcome.  Thank you.
    janiekhi

    So why won't the installer open?
    Because it's obsolete or defective.

  • Admin privileges required to install TurboCad

    I am trying to install TurboCAD ver.3 on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. In am getting the erroe message, "This installer requires admin privileges to run."
    I have seen a lot of discussion on this in Snow Leopard and I tried everything that was suggested, including changing the TRUE to FALSE in Install Script.
    When I try to change it, I get the message that "This Script couldn't be unlocked because it resides on the locked disk TuboCAD Pro............ect."
    Anybody know how to unlock that so I can edit the script?

    Using Mac 10.7.5 I have had the same problem, but the fix described didn't work. The solution below worked for me so I thought this thread would be a good place to share it.
    1) Show package contents of the TurboCAD installer app (right click on it in Finder).
    2) Copy the folder Contents/Resources/Installer Items/TurboCAD Mac Pro v3.0 from the installer into the Applications folder on the mac.
    3) Run the following in terminal:
    sudo mkdir /usr/local
    sudo mkdir /usr/local/lib
    sudo cp /Applications/"TurboCAD Mac Pro v3.0"/Temp/libxerces-c.dylib /usr/local/lib/libxerces-c.dylib
    sudo cp /Applications/"TurboCAD Mac Pro v3.0"/Temp/libxerces-c.dylib /usr/local/lib/libxerces-c.27.dylib
    4) Run the application by clicking TurboCAD Mac Pro.app from within the TurboCAD folder in the Applications folder. Enter registration information as normal.

  • "requires admin privileges to install"

    Hi,
    I'm trying to install a game on my computer and it's not working.  I put the disc in, click on the installer, and a window pops up stating "This installer requires admin privileges to run."  I only have one user account on my computer and I have already checked that it lists me as having administrative privileges.
    My mac has Snow Leopard and is running Mac OS X version 10.6.8
    The game is Diner Dash Party Pack by PlayFirst.
    Any thoughts on what I can do?
    Thanks!

    The developers are Gamespot.   Go to them, vta this link, and ask them for help if your problem is not covered by the FAQ section.   Beware if you downloaded it from Softinic, these people sometimes inject unwanted material into the download.

  • I'm the admin and yet it says I need admin privileges to install games?

    In fact, there are no other users on this brand spanking new laptop and it says admin under my name?!?!
    And yet whenever I try to install games from the Apple downloads section, it simply said I need admin privileges to install the software...
    Is it a Snow Leopard issue or a MacBook issue? I wasn't sure, so I posted it here.
    Please help.

    I'm having the same problem with Diner Dash. It doesn't even give you the prompt to give the password. All it says is "This installer needs admin privileges to download." And the only button it gives you is quit. I've tried a bunch of different things from deleting the guest account to taking the password off my computer, nothing is working.
    I also set everyone to read & write under applications, I even added myself and an admin user since, in the beginning, it didn't have them and it's still not working. It has system, wheel, and everyone. I even checked out the Read me that comes with the disk, wondering if there was this problem known before and the section "Known Problems" says None under it, which doesn't help. I opened up the file inside the installer too and tried working with terminal, nothing is working.

  • Reset Password without Admin Privileges

    I am using the latest APEX hosted via apex.oracle.com. I'm trying to create a 'forgot password' capability but it appears that every built-in apex utility that allows me to reset and/or update the password requires admin privileges. Is there any way to do this without having admin privileges? I'm using APEX Authentication.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
    Create an authentication function with two parameters something like this and follow the link to create a custom authentication scheme.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21674/sec_authentication.htm#HTMDB25778
    function my_authentication (
        p_username in varchar2,
        p_password in varchar2 )
        return boolean
    is
        l_user my_users.user_name%type := upper(p_username);
        l_pwd  my_users.password%type;
        l_id   my_users.id%type;
    begin
        select id  , password
          into l_id, l_pwd
          from my_users
         where user_name = l_user;
        return l_pwd = rawtohex(sys.dbms_crypto.hash (
                           sys.utl_raw.cast_to_raw(p_password||l_id||l_user),
                           sys.dbms_crypto.hash_md5 ));

  • Can't Install iTunes : Error Message "Installer has insufficient Privileges to modify this File" Running Windows Vista

    Hello!
    I am currently having issues installing iTunes on BOTH of my computers. One running Vista, the other, Windows 7.
    (Not the same issues)
    I used to have iTunes on my Vista (32bit), but when asked to update the software (The update prior to the newest one), I was not able to.
    I dont exactly remember the error message.
    Yesterday, I tried to install it again when I realized there was a new update.
    I am receiving an error message while trying to install the software that says :
    "The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file: c:\program files\ common files \ apple \ apple application support \ webkit. resources \ inspector \ images \ warnings errors.png
    I have tried almost everything I knew to do.
    Downloaded itunes setup, extracted the files and tried to install them all separately.
    Then I had issues UNinstalling Apple Support and Mobile devices!
    Tried something with the registry (not too sure what. I read it on this website)
    Tried to Force Uninstall EVERY bit of apple on the computer then try again, and to no avail.
    I am a bit discouraged, because I have been trying for so long with both computers.
    I even called applecare for help with Windows 7 computer. Spoke to one representative who forwarded me to another who could not help.
    (Windows 7 itunes WILL install, but when I plug up my phone says I am not running 64bit itunes, which I am, and to reinstall. Then I was missing the Mobile device and would not let me separately install.)
    I am a bit frustrated, and I'd appreciate all of the help I can get.
    Thank You all in advance.

    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • TS3212 Cannot install iTunes to my PC running Windows Vista. Message "The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory....Log on as administrator." I am logged on as administrator. I am attempting to install from download by right-clicki

    I've had iTunes on my PC forever. Because recent updates have aborted with the message:"The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory... Log on as administrator," I am now attempting to download a fresh copy from the Apple website. Same message! I am logged on as administrator. I can download, then attempt to run by right-clicking on the installer and selecting, "Run as administrator" but that gets me only to the same point (and message) as attempting to install directly from the internet. I've never seen this message with any other download. What gives?

    What's the precise name of the directory being mentioned? (Give the full file path, please.)

  • You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as administrator and then retry this installation

    Hi all
    Have seen a couple threads regarding this but unfortunately nothing that solves my problem thus far!
    Right now, our developers are using the Domain Admin account to promote their website code using MSI files.  I'd like to change this as I feel the Domain Admin account should be on lock down and only used when absolutely necessary, pretty common.  The
    same goes for my account too, I would like to absolve as much use of the Domain Admin as I can.
    Problem is, when they run installers from their own accounts, they receive this error: You do not have sufficient privileges
    to complete this installation for all users of the machine. Log on as administrator and then retry this installation
    The accounts they are using are part of the Built In Administrators group and the Domain Admins group... I'm not sure what other permission you'd need in a domain?  We've gone as far as explicitly giving them local admin access on this server and still
    nothing changes.
    Is there a Group Policy or something that I can change to provide install rights and possibly remove these accounts as Domain Admin and more along the line of Power User?
    Thanks much for your help!
    Ryan
