"This iPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device is not started."  What does that mean?

When I try to plug in my iPod to iTunes, I get a box that says "ThisiPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device is not started."  What does that mean?

it means that the service that suporting your device on the computer is not started
to restart it go in windows task manager by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ESC (ECHAP in french keyboard)
or right clic on task bare and start windows task manager
go on tab ''service'' find apple mobile device, right clic on it and start this service
now you device should be able to connect to itunes
