This is a strange question but......

I am in a band called Sound Station (www.soundstationhome.com). We have a new CD that we want to call iPodable.... the question is, will Apple not like that??
We don't want to get sued or get Apple mad at us.
I thought that it would be okay because we're actually advirtising the iPod. But some band members are a bit skittish after reading about Apple going after some people for useing the "i" in their products.
What is everybodies opinion??
Thanks! replies are most appreciated!
Power Mac dual G4   Mac OS X (10.3.5)

Thanks guys, I'll try that.
Do you think they'll be positive?
Personally, I doubt it. Apple is very protective of it's trademarks. Since the title is making a direct reference to "iPod" it can be seen as infringement. I would bet that apple owns the usage rights to that word anyway.
Still. Contact Apple's PR department. Who knows.

And I meant go to the apple store physically without preordering it online, and I meant the Southampton one. So could I just stroll in apple store and buy a iPhone 5 in Southampton apple store and buy the iPhone 5 straight away? Because I didn't want to have to wait? I just want to go in and buy it and go out with it, if you guys get what I mean? And felipeV if it is in stock could I just buy it and leave with my iPhone 5?

I don't believe there is a square brush among the sets that ship with Photoshop, but there are plenty to download, and it is super easy to make one.
Just drag with the rectangular Marquee tool, fill with black on a new layer, and go Edit > Define brush preset

Should come updated from the Mac App Store. Obviously, it's tough to keep things up to date when they are sitting in a box on a store shelf.

Had me stumped for a while too ...
On the screen that presents all your "Blank" documents, simply touch the word "Blank" under the preview (not the actual preview) and you'll get a dialogue to name your document.

  • This is a silly question, but I cannot fix it! The icons that appear on my photos after I edit them, have gone away. The only way I can see them is in the Grid view. How can I get the icons back on the thumbnail photos of the full gallery that is loaded?

How can I get the icons back on the thumbnail photos of the full gallery that is loaded? TIA =)

You have likely dragged the size of the filmstrip thumbnails to a small size that prevents Lightroom from displaying the badges. Using your mouse, mouse over the top line of the filmstrip and then drag it supports to increase the size.

  • I know this is a common question - but is there a way to connect a USB pen drive to the iPad? (See details)

Basically, I just bought a Nexus 7 after growing impatient waiting for the iPad mini.  But the Nexus has a fault, and I'm taking it back next week.  I'm wondering whether to get my money back, or just get another - because it's a pretty good device!
My major big thing about it, is that I can plug a USB pen drive into it with a OTG cable and either just stream pictures, documents or movies - or save them to the Nexus for viewing without a dangly wire to annoy me.  It's great!  However, being an Apple fan - an iPad mini (if it comes out!) would be simpler, because it would sync to iCloud etc.  whereas obviously my Nexus 7 doesn't do this at all.  The only iCloud factor I can access is my mail.  Which isn't a problem, just a prefference.
So, with current iPads - is there a way, without jailbraking the device, to say stream movies to the device through a USB pen drive/external HDD, and save them to the iPad?
I've seen ways on YouTube but thought it was best to ask here.
If this was possible, I'd swap the Nexus for the iPad mini straight away - the Nexus 7 is fantastic!  No problem with it, if it wasn't for iCloud, I'd keep that.
Oh, and as a closing question on the iPad mini/Apple Maps - the Nexus 7 lets you download offline maps, and also you have a GPS which is used even when not on wifi - do you think this will be likely on an iPad mini? I can't see it myself.
It's a sad day for me, when I start to think Google may still have the upperhand on 7" tablets, even after the iPad mini is released.  I might even wait for the Second generation (if it exists!) - just because I for some reason never like first generation things from Apple.
But anyway, that's a lot of questions and info!
    Thanks in advance!

Ok, fair enough.  But since Job's death - Apple's control on leaks has been terrible.  I got the new iPhone, and I like it - but it hasn't made nearly as big as an impression as previous ones.  Because of the vast ammount of leaks.  With the iPad mini leaks, it's 99% sure to come out next week.
Apple uses many manufacturers and it's massive also websites prefer to report on Apple whether true or false because it brings more hits.
Amd by "others" I meant other people on iPads - not other devices/manufacturers.  It's possible to do so, I just want to know how.  I honestly don't think we'll ever be in a Post-PC era until all tablets allow us to use USB in the way computers do.
No, USB is not the future, you missed the memo about cloud and wireless computing?

  • This is a repetitive question, but under different circumstances. I think..

Ok, so I realize this all started because of one mistake...I bought an HP laptop over a Mac. I know I know, what a ridiculous thought! Also keep in mind that I registered my HP laptop as the 5th out of 5 computers authorized for my "OLD" iTunes account (I thought that maybe HP would last a little longer).
Anyways, after about a month with my HP laptop it started to act up and get slower and slower. So after 4 hours of HP customer/technical support via telephone, I had to run a full system recovery and wipe my HP laptop clean. Thus, I bought the buy a Macbook get a free iPod Touch deal.
So now...I received my iTouch the other day and uploaded all of my music from one of the 5 authorized computers BUT under a new account name. So...once I receive my Macbook sometime tomorrow will I be able to transfer all the songs from the iTouch to the new iTunes library under my new account name via iDump? (iDump=iPod to computer transfer application).
And if I transfer these songs will the songs be under my NEW account name and they will be able to play OR will they match the OLD account and I won't be able to play the songs b/c it would be the 6th computer out of 5?
Hopefully all that made sense, please ask questions if you are confused and thank you ahead of time for any comments, suggestions, answers, etc.
P.S. I KNOW I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A MAC FROM THE GET GO!

Well the first computer authorized crashed. I forgot what computer was number 2 authorized. My family still uses authorized computers 3 and 4. And my laptop that I ran a full system recovery on was number 5. Since I ran a recovery on my laptop would that deauthorize the itunes account?
I also have all my music on 2 flash drives as well as my iPod that both contain purchased and unpurchased music. Thanks again!!!

  • This isn't a question but rather a warning to anyone using the new OS for iphone 4.  The imessage uses up your data plan like crazy.  I called Apple about it and they said no it's not doing it.  I called AT

The new OS is burning through my data plan like crazy and here's why.  Imessage uses your data plan and not your texting plan.  So every time you send a text message to someone with an iphone it uses imessage and it uses your data, not your text plan.  I couldn't figure out why I was burning through so much of my data plan so quickly.  I called Apple and they said, no it's not the data plan doing it.  I called AT&T and they said, yes, the imessage uses data instead of your texting plan if you are texting to another iphone.  Also, the new OS runs your apps all the time, even when you aren't using them.  So if you are not near wifi your apps are running and burning your data plan.  The AT&T guy took me through the steps to turn off the apps.  You can still use them but they won't be running constantly.  Seriously Apple, you should let people know this.  It does say it in the fine print on the website "data rates may apply" under imessage but most people will never read this.  So my data plan started on October 10th and it's already at 175 megabytes and I only have a 200 megabyte plan.  I've never used more than 50 to 75 megabytes in a month.  Apple get it together and be honest with people and tell them.  Quit denying the problem.  Most people have probably not even discovered this yet.  Wait till you get your bill.

It's not really common knowledge because I've talked to several people today and none of them knew about it.  Also, when I called Apple they said no the new OS is not using data.  Totally wrong answer.  You'd think they'd know about it and at least tell people.  The people who are going to be hit by this are people like me with the 200mb plans.  I just think it's best to spread the word so people can know what's happening.  I still don't know how I went through so much data in such a short period of time.  It's not happening anymore though, not since I fixed everything up last night.
If you are using a free wifi connection, there are no data charges with iMessage.  But in an area where you did NOT have a wifi connection, of course it used 3G and of course you got charged for it (or had it count against your plan limits).
I'll ask again - without a wifi connection, just what did you think was happening?  How did you think your iPhone was able to magically send a message WITHOUT using any data connection?  A little bit of rational thought would have made you realize that there was no way, over a 3G connection (which is a service provided by your cellular service provider, NOT Apple), that you can send or receive ANYTHING without your service provider's plan picking it up.
Nothing abut iMessage has ever hinted that it can, in any way, bypass your service provider when NOT using a wifi connection.

  • I know this is a dumb question but...

Somehow my spouse has got some kind of Help window open. It explains what's on the screen, isolating various texxt or function boxes. It's a black rectangular box that can be dragged and resized. I've minimized it but would like to get rid of it. Anyone know what this is?

  • This is a dumb question but please help me anyway!

I have been asked to take a class to learn to teach AP Computer Science. I was very excited to do this and was told that I didn't need prior programming knowledge to be successful. I got my first set of assignments and there are no instructions. There are just some simple programs for me to create. I went online and tried to do the best I could. I've got the first one working ok but the second one keeps giving me errors. I'm going to post what I've written below. If you have any help to offer me, please do! I am an absolute beginner so please be kind.

  • Please excuse if this is a dumb question but........

How do I empty photos from IPhoto trash? It does not seem to be the same trash basket as my general trash bucket on the dock. But its has 2600 pics in there that I deleted from Iphoto one day when I was cleaning up. Now, are these photos taking up hard drive space? How do I permanently get rid of them?
    Thanks in advance

I hadn't noticed how quick it was - that was cool. But it does help to have the question in the title though you must admit: then you don't have to open the click the link to see what it is.
It was just a tip not meant to be a moan.

  • TS1424 Hello:  Please don't think this is a dumb question, but I selected a free trial of a magazine and now I'm being charged and don't know how to stop it.

How do I cancel a free trial of a magazine?  Also, I was charged for something that I thought was free but isn't.

There are instructions on this page for managing and stopping auto-renewing subscriptions : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4098
For the item that you thought was free, have you made any in-app purchases within it and/or did you add or change your credit card details when downloading it (could it be a temporary store holding charge ?). If you think that you've been charged when you shouldn't have been then you can contact iTunes support here : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption.
