This is getting nuts, no one makes an adaptor from ADC to VGA anymore? The last known one by Dr. Bott is no more.
Are we stuck with using a Apple monitor on the ADC port?

No, you can get an ACD to DVI adapter and use a DVI screen.
The ADC to VGA adapter shows up on eBay now and then.....

VGA is an analog signal HDMI is digital. A simple cable would not work you would need something that converts the analog signal to digital.
A search of VGA to HDMI turned up a few possibilities but nothing specific. In any case the picture on the TV will not be very good given the source.
You should check to see if the TV has a VGA input. Some TV's have a computer connection port and this is usually VGA.

Or are parameters different ? Presently my CRT 20" Sony requires an adapter
for my G4. My graphics card suggest that I can add another monitor. It will be a LCD with DVI output. Is the performance better from the ADC-VGA option for the CRT ?

ADC is a digital output so you will get the best performance from a digital panel LCD. An adapter will always costs a little on performance, but if you go VGA you lose quality by default in some area.

DVI vs ADC & VGA

Hi all
I have a G4 AGP with ADC/VGA video card ATY Rage(16mb)128pro connected to my 19" X2gen monitor via the VGA port. I'm not getting that sharpness with true colors. I heard DVI is the better video option for true colors and quality. Will i get better colors if I upgrade my video card to DVI? Or is my monitor very cheap quality and should I buy a ADC monitor?

To clarify, yes DVI offers the best quality as bit for bit information is passed for each pixel, it is truly digital as the acronym implies. Comparable to a lossy versus lossless in the media compression world... jpeg vs png, mp3 vs aiff etc
ADC, as with HDMI is simply a combination of DVI and other separate communication lines packaged into one cable with a different single connector.
ADC was Apples attempt at combining DVI with USB and FireWire into one connection for simplicity, but for various reasons including compatibility they finally switched to the standard DVI connection and gave a separate connector for each lead but continued to wrap them in the same insulation for neatness :P
HDMI is the same deal but with audio... they are also generally considered to produce lower quality imagery, even though the interface is the same, purely due to the generally poor quality of HDMI cables and connector.

Merge MobileMe and iTunes account?! This is CRAZY unfair!

When I first joined MobileMe some years ago I couldn't merge my iTunes account with my new MobileMe email address. Furthermore, at the beginning I believe (though I can't find any info to back this up) that it was NECESSARY that you had a seperate account for mobileme and the iTunes store, that's why I have two.
Now that I've switched over to cloud my MobileMe Account is obviously the one I want to use for everything, but all my music and perchases for the past 4 or 5 YEARS are on another account, which I'm told I can't merge. What happens when people get married, or or change email addresses, or even countries?
Are digital commodities really this fragile and fleeting? If so I'm just about done throwing my money at binary, and go back to CDs.
Any thoughts... what can I do? I've spent hundreds if not thousands I'm sure over the past 5 years... this is crazy.

Use your ex-MobileMe login for iCloud; use your iTunes ID for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match. There's no problem in having two IDs this way, and in fact it's more secure not to have your iTunes login the same as your email address (given the number of complaints about iTunes accounts getting hacked).
Once you've got it running Keychain will handle the logins anyway so you won't even need to remember which login is which.

We are sorry for the trouble that this has caused you. Can you please suggest if you did the migration from a previous version of MAC OS to Yosemite(10.10.1)? If yes, are you having trouble while Launching the Desktop Application? If yes, there are two steps available for us.
1) First , please check the permission on /Library folder and see if you have full read & write access. If you don't, I would request you to have a conversation with Apple support.
2) If the permissions are all fine on this folder, please check the same on ~/Library folder as well.
If all is fine, i would request you to please reinstall the product and try again.

This phone is not doing this.

Are you using a case around your phone? If yes, did you make sure the proximity sensor is not covered?
Try without the cover to make sure the sensor is working.
A protection film on your screen can also cover the sensor and result in a dysfunction of the sensor.

thx John. I got the viewsonic VA912b. What a huge screen compared to my old apple 17" studio display CRT/ADC. Just trying to get used to a LCD. All my years of computing have been staring in CRT monitors. There is alittle bit of ghosting w/ LCD but I'm sure if i was using the DVI connection instead of the VGA it would probrably be crisper. But for right now i need to replace my old monitor the cheepest way and I could figure in buying a new video card and monitor at the same time. But maybe in the future i will get a new card and put this monitor up to its full potential. But I got to say it is nice looking into a 19" screen instead of a 17". I can't believe the size difference in the two inches.

i have the G5 powermac oct 2004. The last G5 to carry the ADC and DVI ports i believe. hence my problem, as i don't want to pay for a very expensive apple display but i would like to dual monitor.
i already have the DVI going to VGA going to phillips 17". I plan on having that on my ADC port (converted to VGA) and convert the DVI port to VGA and use one of many old CRT's floating around the house.
I live in Australia and i would appreciate any info on the best way to get the combo i want. I already have a DVI to VGA converter

Hi Karl,
i think i might have accidentally posted in the wrong forum in state of confusion with lots of windows open.
Essentially i want to have two VGA ports. The G% i have comes with one ADC and one DVI port. I'm already using the DVI port with a VGA converter. We have another DVI to VGA converter lying around. To have some flexibility, if we ever get a DVI monitor, i thought of buying an ADC to DVI adapter, and then using the spare DVI to VGA conector with that. So i'd have three adapters sticking out the back of my computer with two VGA ports in the end.
The blasted ADC to DVI cable we bought doesn't have the four pins around the horizontal pin. As you indicated it sounds like we got a DVI-D port and obviously we want one with the four pins so we can use our spare adapter.
Hopefully i'm making more sense.

.mac mail - This is crazy

Just upgraded to Tiger 10.4.3. All mail accounts work fine except .mac mail
Under 10.3.9 my .mac mail account acted just like any other POP mail account. Is there any way to set up Mail in Tiger to have .mac mail work as a POP account?
I shouldn't have to:
1. Get my mail through .mac web mail
2. Sync the mail box
3. Rebuild the mailbox
It's stupid to have to log on to .mac web mail and read my mail in order to have it delivered to me through Mail app.
I can't forward my mail from .mac to my normal ISP because I often receive large files (customer artwork) that my ISP is gonna block because of size. That's why I HAVE a .mac mail account in the first place! It's CRAZY!
Am I doing something wrong? Help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure why you mentioned the URL references you did, since they confirm pretty much everything I have said. The POP concept is centered around the idea that mail is held on the server until downloaded; IMAP that it is held indefinitely on the server until it receives a specific request to delete it.
A little thought should make it obvious that neither POP nor IMAP can possibly determine if all computers have had a chance to download a message -- neither knows anything about how many computers or other information devices might be authorized to do so. POP can handle this by allowing a client to request that messages not be deleted after downloading them; IMAP, by allowing a client to request that they be deleted at any time. Not all client software has this ability.
Regarding knowing which messages have been read, IMAP manages this for the inbox, which represents messages that may or may not also be stored locally on a client. Local mailboxes are still managed by the client, which might confuse some users not aware of the difference. I don't consider this a failure of IMAP or of .Mac but more of a problem with client software like Mail, which doesn't make the distinction between locally & remotely stored mail as clear as it could be.
More than anything else, I think this is what drives people crazy about .Mac, IMAP, et al. It's all well & good to have a consistent looking interface & a single app to handle all your mail, but unless you know where all your mail is stored, there is no way it will make sense.

This is crazy....iphone 6 delivery

I'm really not happy with the support from this company and the craziness surrounding delivery dates. I ordeedr the iPhone 6 64gb great and it went through at 315 est bc the servers were overloaded. at the order confirmation page it said delivery date 9/19. Then the next morning the email came through and said delivery date 10/7. Now when you check the order online it says unavailable. this is madness, and i won't be happy if i don't have my phone on friday...

I been watching the countdown clock. I guess my mind is wishing it will say come on order now or something.
I keep checking this forum for new info on another window. Even though I was all over the droid x release and saw all of the same questions(mostly) and CS answers( what a joke, some).
I can't get any work done... Good thing I am self-employed.
I am a phone junkie... and vzw is holding my fix... and the clock still has 17 hours + on it.... This is gonna be a long day.
Oh, I think I am past that point!!!!

I have had no problems editing Red Epic 4K R3D files in the past revisions of Premier CC but ever since creative cloud updated me to the latest Premier CC 2014 (8.0.1) I cant get any serious work done as my system is crashing on startup, or after a few minutes of work, freezing on playback at times, giving me artifacts at times and is just a miserable and frustrating experience I can get NOTHING done with!!!
How could Adobe release a piece of so called professional software like this with these now obvious MAJOR issues so many of us are experiencing, wasting massive time and money for all of its users and how can I get this running properly and stable as our livelihoods depend on this software to work and thats what we pay Adobe for ???

If Adobe would have thought before changing the file compatibility with the new Premier Pro CC 2014 where you cant load a file updated to this new version back into Premier Pro CC previous revision or included some kind of import / export to and from previous versions I think we would all at least be operational again right now until Adobe can fix its errors in this new revision but they obviously didn't care to think about compatibility, safeguards for users and just adding more new features with a new file format in a buggy piece of software?
I have wasted days now on trying to solve these problems following other users in this forums suggestions including the following listed below:
• Reinstalled my OS downgrading to 10.9.3 originally thinking it was something OS related since I updated to 10.9.4 around the same time this all started happening
• Uninstalled / reinstalled Premier Pro CC 2014
• I have updated my permissions to read/write on my main user account on the Adobe Library files

• I have reverted my CUDA drivers back one revision as these were recently updated as well

Originally I was very impressed with Adobe CC and Premier CC once I started to work with it after many years of abandoning the use of Premier as a Final Cut Pro 7 user but later decided to try Adobe again when Apple abandoned its pro base with the original Final Cut X. I also did not think this new cloud software model was all that bad over the old boxed method. This was all also before the big Final Cut Pro X update in December 2013/early 2014 where Apple appears to be back to support the real Pros but I have stuck with Adobe CC and Premier CC and been happy since that time. Now I am wondering if this was wise as I have had a number of other issues with other CC Apps, updates, etc and this is starting to feel like Creative Cloud is becoming a big, sloppy, buggy mess to me?

Add to right click menu of timelines an entry for "go to next keyframe" and "go to last keyframe" a la After Effects, we should also be able to assign a kb shortcut to this.
There are buttons on either side of the create keyframe button to advance forward or backward in the effects control panel or timeline.
You can also advance forward or backward in the effects control window by holding shift while dragging the playhead.
Allow copy/paste of selection of audio/video effects, not just one at a time. Sure we can copy/paste attributes but since we can also copy/paste effects it would only make sense to allow to copy/paste a selection of effects.
I guess I don't get this one. If I have 5 effects on a clip, I can simply command-click on the ones I want to copy over to the other clip.
