This is getting silly - iOS7 & iTunes syncing

So, I've been unable to update any of of music from iTunes to my iPhone 5 with all of the issues that've been brought up here before.  So I'm trying the workaround of not enabling auto sync in iTunes, manually managing music, deleting my music and then resyncing.  Only problem is when I removed my music ~7,000 songs, it created 22GB of "Other" on my phone which I now cannot delete or start to resync music as it'll put me over......
Any ideas?  I really don't want to delete all apps and data and start from scratch.
iOS7 and iTunes 11 have been out how long now without a fix???

Haven't thought about the antivirus program. I might disable it (after disconnecting from the Internet, natch) and try installing that way.
At work, I also use iTunes and QuickTime. Company policy permits their use and installation, and the company allows non-administrative users to install it, but with the caveat that they (the user) must keep it updated. If they don't, it gets pulled from the PC. So if the iTunes update won't actually update the software, then I wind up getting it yanked. (That obviously doesn't happen on my home PC.) And when my company yanks it, it does so incompletely, meaning there are little pieces of program stuck on the computer that cannot be manually removed. It's a mess. So I'd rather Apple just do their job and put out an update that actually works, rather than me going through the whole rigamarole of uninstalling and re-installing, or having a wonky work computer because the update doesn't work.
Apple software techs, are you listening? I need an answer!

  • Just moved from a PC to a Macbook Pro and now my Ipod Classic gets stuck on iTunes "syncing" even though I have it set to manual. Please help!

Please help. I recently bought my first Mac (a Macbook Pro 15-in Mid 2012) and my iPod classic will not work properly when I plug it into my computer and open the newest version of iTunes. It played just fine on my old PC with iTunes 10. I have not updated the software on the iPod since I bought it a few years ago and even if I wanted to update it I couldn't becuse once I plug it in it gets stuck saying "syncing with iTunes." Well, I have it manually set so that I can add/delete whenever I want. So I don;t understand why it is giving me  this message and getting stuck. I've looked around the web and tried to install iTunes 10 but because I have the newest version already installed it will not let me replace it with 10.
Does anyone know how this can be resolved?
    Thanks.

Apple doesn't call its portable machines 'notebooks' instead of 'laptops' for nothing - using a MacBook Pro in your lap can cause some burns on your skin, poor ventilation, etc. So use it on a hard flat surface - not your lap, pillows, bedclothes, etc.
As for burning a hole in your screen, you'll have to revisit the Apple Store and see how much they would charge for a new screen. It's likely to be a bit expensive.
And if you've Safari set to re-open tabs when you restart, you can disable this feature -> Safari-Preferences-General.
    Good luck,

Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Music Tab on the right.
Click on all of the albums or playlists that you want to sync - or the entire library if you like.
Click on the Sync Music Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

  • This is getting beyond ridiculous - iTunes install errors

While attempting to update iTunes to 10.1.2 using Apple Software Update, I received an error - "Errors occurred while installing the updates. If the problem persists, choose Tools > Download Only and try installing manually."
So I downloaded the installer and attempted to update manually. I received another error message - "The installation of iTunes did not complete successfully. iTunes requires QuickTime." And then the installer quit, saying nothing had been modified.
This happens *every single time* I attempt to update iTunes. I find it ridiculous in the extreme that I should be forced to uninstall both QuickTime and iTunes in order to update to the latest version. Apple must look into this issue and rectify the situation. I am sure Mac users don't have this problem. What must be done in order to properly update iTunes to 10.1.2?

  • Apple,  this is getting silly dont you think ?

How many people are having issues and cant listen to their music ? Yet no answers ? Can I get refunds for my music and take my business to a different company ? Now I can understand that it may take some time to get a fix, but at least let us know whats up... End of rant....

    NJRanger,
"all the issues being raised" -- " MAJOR PROBLEM" -- "MANY CUSTOMERS"
Your grasp of numbers and relative proportions is a bit off. Apple has sold over 30 million iPods and has between 15-20 million unique iTunes users.
iTunes and the iPod work, and work well with the vast majority of the Mac and Windows users out there. There are various reasons for the inability of the iPod or iTunes to correctly function. One of them is manufacturing problems, but believe it or not, that is most likely the smallest of the problems.
    Other issues are:
    - Poor Windows PC environment
    - Interactions with other installed software
    - Viruses and Malware
    - Operator error
    - Inability to read/follow directions
There are other probable causes as well. Just think. If the majority (or even 10%) of the iTunes users were having problems and only 10% of those found there way here, we would be swamped with over 150,000 individuals with multiple posts here. It's just not happening.
Sorry you're having problems. But deploy 15-30+ million units of anything and any company is bound to have some issues. Many not of your own making either.
    "Man, was I wrong..."
Very much so...just not about what you originally thought.

  • Ios7 incorrectly syncs music when "Manually manage music and videos" checked

    iPhone 5 with ios7.0.2
    Mac 10.6.8 with iTunes 11.1.1
Since installing ios7 iTunes syncs music even though I always have the "Manually manage music and videos" checkbox checked.  Since I don't want to keep the same music on my Mac that I have on my phone, this results in the music on the phone being deleted when I manually drag new music onto it in iTunes.  This happened with the previous version of iTunes, before updating to 11.1.1, and still happens with 11.1.1.
    Other iPhone settings:
    Music: everything off / disabled
iTunes & App Store: everything off / disabled
    iTunes settings:
Summary tab: only "Manually manage music and videos" checked
Music tab: nothing checked or selected
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Then you are the only person I know that can do that on a non-jailbroken iPhone. It is restricted by design to one library.

  • ITunes syncing doesn't save all settings

Not sure if this belongs in the developer forums, but I couldn't find a good place for this question over there.
Basically, I'm running the iOS 5 beta on both my iPhone 4 (GSM) and my iPad 2 (Wi-Fi). I sync pretty regularly, and even use the iCloud backups, which seem to be working pretty well.
However, I run into this major issue each time I have to restore the devices when updating (that is, when OTA updates don't work...which happens from time to time). I sync RIGHT before I restore, to hopefully ensure that everything is preserved, but when I finish the restore, iTunes seems to forget all my settings. It attempts to sync apps that were either previously removed from my device, or apps that were never on it to begin with (this happens moreso on my iPad wherein it seems to think that a few of my iPhone apps belong on it, when they were never on my iPad to begin with).
My folders are never preserved, random settings are undone, and twice its lost a few days worth of photos. It doesn't even back up app settings. I have several games where weeks upon weeks worth of progress have been lost.
I don't understand what's going on. It's as if there's no point to syncing at all because nothing gets backed up. Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm using the latest betas for iTunes and iOS, and have been part of the dev program since iOS 5 beta 3.
I know it's beta software, and that "bugs may happen", but this seems like a larger iTunes syncing issue whereby it simply refuses to do what it claims to do.

Well repairing permissions through disk utility didn't work.
In the end I converted the file to AAC from within iTunes and I was then able to edit & save info field again. I know this is not a fix but it is a usable work-around.

  • IPhone5 will not vibrate on silent when using custom ringtone from iTunes sync

    Hello,
I've troubleshot this one to death and came to find that my iPhone5 will not vibrate in silent mode when the audible tone is set to a tone synced to the device from iTunes.
I've found that the phone DOES vibrate on silent when the audible ringtone is set to a tone that comes with the Phone out of the box.
Any advice on how to rectify this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

I have this same issue, I havent been able to sync my phone since May 15th.  I am using Itunes 11.0.3 and I have an Iphone 5.  I reset my phone and deleted Itunes and reset sync history, all of which didnt work.  I have already turned in my Macbook pro because of its buggy ways and I am thinkin I am going to have to leave the iphone if this doesnt get fixed.  "Itunes was unable to load data class information from sync services.  Please try again later.  I have also removed norton and that didnt fix it.  Apple is such a dispapointment anymore. I used to reccomend them but now I tell people to stay away.
Its driving me nuts, I was wondering how you fixed this.
    Thank you

  • I just updated to ios7 and my phone wants me to connect to iTunes before I can do anything.  My computer is broken and I'm borrowing someone else's.  Will it try to sync with their computer? Can I get around using iTunes somehow?

I just updated my iPhone 4S to iOS7 and it wants me to connect to iTunes before I can do anything. But my computer is broken and I'm borrowing someone else's. Will it try to sync with their computer? Can I get around using iTunes somehow?  I'm new to this; any help would be appreciated!

If the device is indicating to connect to iTunes, then it is in recovery mode. You will need the computer and iTunes to recover it. You can fix the iTunes to not sync to your device, but just let it recover the phone. I hope you would have a backup of your data in iCloud, since it is no longer available to you on the phone.

    Hi Dennis!
I have a couple of steps for you to try in order to get those songs transferred to your iPod touch. First, make sure all of your software is updated with the latest versions. If the songs were downloaded from iTunes, you will also want to delete the songs from your library and then download them again from the list of past purchases on your iTunes account. An article about doing that can be found here:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
If you try a sync after those two steps and are still seeing the issue, then I would like you to try syncing the iPod by setting it to manually manage. An article outlining more information on manually managing your iPod sync can be found here:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1535
If you are still having issues after that, I have another article that can outline some other reasons why your songs may not transfer to your iPod, and it can be found here:
Some songs in iTunes won't copy to iPod
