This is more of a complaint than anything

I been waiting to upgrade for months, but i wanted to wait and see what new updates were in pla for adobe CS suite I was very excited to hear about the announcement on monday may 6. I even purchased and upgrade for my adobe director and I saw cs6 master collection was still available as a disk but I wanted to wait for monday. Monday comes around and I find out there is no more CS suite only cc for cloud subscriptions. I cannot afford cloud membership at full retail along with my minimum internet access due to monthly data caps. So I decided to buy the upgrade of cs6 master collection and then I find out that they only sell it via download only.  When I asked when did this change I was just on line the other day, the rep responded just a few hrs ago.. (ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!) Im just geting out of work at 5pm not much longer after announcement  and I cant even get a cd version when aske if I can escelate to management thire response was oh they will tell you the same thing. I asked what will you do with the cds you have in the wearhouse the respond was I dont know they will figure something out.  I understand as a company it is better for you, but at least give some time for people to decide what they want. I know I'm only a grain of sand in a beach and my words will not reach the appropriate people but I feel your customer service needs a lot of improvement when it comes to major changes. The fact that I feel like I am not a customer but an inconvinience shows me that your customer focus is slipping especially when told no options are available after 3 hrs of an announcement along with the fact that Im here writing in a consumer forum to vent because there is no info on how to file complaints and concerns... I'm very upset and dissapointed in Adobe and you just lost a loyal customer

    We'll I can't comment on the South Park stuff but we are in agreement on the calendar. As mentioned by leonieDF and also by a friend I found a great app called Week Agenda Ultimate and it love it. It takes info from the iOS 7 calendar I hate and puts it in this app. It's perfect. For .99 cents you can't best it. Good luck!

  • I'm finding this mac lap top more of a headache than anything.

    I wanted to type out a resume but i didn't have the application to create or edit it.  I did have a trial app that expired, a while back, so i just purchased it, but now it says theres a problem and it won't let me print or save.  Such a pain in the butt   I see two icons of the same app.  One must be the expired one and the other the newly purchased.  I also see that it has two other options to add, keynote and numbers, but i don't need them.  Am I not being able to print because I won't purchase the other two?  why do they make this so hard?

    No you are not being prevented from printing because you have not bought the other two apps in the iWork suite. You have made an error that many folks have made with the trial version. You should delete the trial version before you buy and install the paid version.
    If you have purchased the paid version through the Mac App Store, then you can redownload the app by signing into your account and going to the Purchases pane. So I suggest that you delete both versions of the app that are installed right now on your Mac. After both versions are gone you can download the app again and you should not have any conflicts occurring.
    The best way to delete them both and get all of their associated files is with an app delete app. AppCleaner is a free one that does as good a job as the paid ones. Just drag the icons of the apps that you wish deleted onto AppCleaner and it will locate the associated files and present them to you for your approval to delete.

  • This is more of a suggestion than a problem that I need help with....

    Why doesn't iTumes for Windows use a year long re-download policy such as RealArcade when you purchase a game? I've lost a ton of music during a driver upgrade that went bad. I had to trash my hdd & start over... and I was under the impression that I had created a backup of my music using Nero Burning Suite. But after attempting the restore, I found out that the Nero Suite doesn't do anything for the 8.3 file extension overlaod issue. Some programs will not recognize embedded folder names and files passing 256 characters for the path/ name of the file. I would like to be notified when something like this is available for the general public. I have spent a bit of cash with the iTunes store, and I would like to be able to get (at least once more ) my money's worth. I understand that this is not Apple's problem, but it would go a long way to providing superb customer service.

  • This is more of a statement than a question but I can't stand iTunes. It is THE WORST application I've ever used.

    The single worst application I've ever used. Period. I'll never buy another song or use it as a back up again. I'll pay $9.99 per month for Spotify and a cloud-based back up service instead of using this PoS software to backup my family's iPhones. I consider myself a loyal Apple user having owned at least two Apple computers since the early 1990's.

    If you like crappy quality and remakes of songs from nobodys then use Spotify. If you can't use iTunes then maybe you need computer lessons. It doesn't get much easier than iTunes. Yes,they changed it and made it a bit clunky if you ask me, but for an all around video and music manager, CD burner,streamer and radio,it doesn't get much better.

    What kind of screen is it? If it is an LCD I suggest the iKlear Apple Polish kit. I use this on my PowerBook screen and it works just fine.
    If it is a CRT monitor, then turn it off and clean it with Windex.

  • Mac Pro takes more time to boot than average

    Okay, well my Mac Pro (2008) takes anything between 40 and 48 seconds to boot (that's the time between pressing the power button and seeing the desktop with mouse movement). Being a long-time PC user, this boot time is MUCH faster than anything I've used before, but apparently it's longer than it should be. I was recently in a forum where most Mac Pro users had boot times of anything between 25 and 35 seconds.
    As for hardware, I have no peripherals plugged in (except for Apple mouse and keyboard). The major software that I've installed is the Adobe Master Collection (including programs such as Photoshop, After Effects, Encore, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, VersionCue, etc.)
    I've looked at my Console messages, and I've noticed that the message "kcdmond cannot retreive the computer's local Hostname, retrying..." is repeated 3 times. This repetition takes up 20 seconds. See all the Console messages during boot-up below:

    I have a few questions based on the above:
    1. What is kdcmond, and why can't it find the host name?
    2. Why is the error message "Failed to check-in!" for Adobe VersionCue appearing? (I've already specified in the VersionCue settings that I do not want it to activate anything on start-up.)
    3. What is "Aladdin USB daemon"?
    4. What is BootCacheControl, and what is with the "cannot allocate memory" errors?

    Okay, so after doing all of the above, the computer still takes between 40 seconds and 1 minute or so to boot up, and the VersionCue messages still appear. However I discovered that the "kdcmond cannot retrieve..." messages disappeared after I disabled my ethernet connections. So at least I know that that had nothing to do with the extended boot-up time.
    I have heard that the more RAM you have, the longer it takes to boot due to the RAM count. Since I have 10 GB, maybe this is why?

    When I OCR two versions of the same document and then compare the documents in Acrobat Pro XI, I usually get the message that there are no changes to mark.  However, I know there a quite a few number of changes.  I raised this question more than a year ago, and the response I received had to do with the quality of the OCR and the scans of the documents.  However, if I use Acrobat Pro XI to save the same documents in Word and then run a comparison in Word all of the changes are marked.  When a PDF is saved as a Word document in Acrobat Pro XI, is a different OCR module being used than the one used in Acrobat Pro XI for text recognition?

    OCR is only for recoginition of the image / picture of text provided by an scanner.
    Content typed into a Word file which is converted to a PDF is (in Word and in PDF) *not* an image  or picture of text - it is the digital text. So, no OCR involved.
    When the "digital" (renderable) text of a PDF's page content is exported to Word no OCR is involved.
    When a PDF's content is from the image output of a scanner and this is a picture of text then OCR comes into play.
    If this content is exported to Word before doing OCR then it is the image that is exported to the Word file.
    Once OCR is performed it is the OCR output that is exported.
    OCR output is (always will be) impacted by "the quality of the OCR and the scans of the documents". 
    Regardless "Compare" is based on a Word file output to PDF1 then edits to the Word file followed by an output to PDF2. You use Acrobat Pro to do a compare of PDF1 & PDF2.
    Paper 1 scanned to image 1 to image 1 in PDF1 that gets OCR 1 and
    Paper 2 scanned to image 2 to image 2 in PDF2 that gets OCR 2
    being processed with Acrobat Pro's Compare can certainly be done.
    But - well you've described what can be observed.

  • It doesn't seem to be as sharp as it is in the "Develop" mode.  This seems to occur more with wide angle than macro.  Any suggestions would be extremely welcome...Norm

    Here's my problem: (Lightroom 4)  I will edit a photo in "Develop" to the point where it looks great and I'm satisfied with the results.  Then I click back to "Library" and the photo seems to go a little out of focus.  When I export the photo, it doesn't seem to be as sharp as it is in "Develop" mode.  This seems to occur more with wide angle than macro.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Norm

    Okay guys, some good news!
    First of all, thanks again to Sean for his suggestion to look inside the transaction log!
    Indeed that specific table that I noticed was filling the transaction log, is the largest table in my database. Its size stands at about ~65GB. Like I said earlier, it has no LOB or Overflow columns. But one interesting fact about it is - it had absolutely
    no indexes! It was a heap, but it was also partitioned. I didn't know a case like this could cause such problems with shrink? It's weird but it also kinda makes sense in a way.
    Anyways, I ran a script to create a partitioned clustered index on that table. That took pretty much all day long due to the table size (almost 7 hours). But once that was finished, shrinking the data file was a breeze!
    At least... Until the shrink started "hanging" again because now it started dealing with my
    second largest table (~55GB). Like the first one, this one is also a partitioned
    heap without any indexes. So I expected this to happen. I guess the solution this time will be the same: Create a clustered index.
    Does this make sense to you? A partitioned heap table causing such heavy workload to SHRINK, but when it's moved to a clustered index, suddenly it flies?

    Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
    My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
    They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
    However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
    I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
    Anyways I digress.
    So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
    At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
    All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

    Calibrating the battery is always a good option. It is far too soon for battery life to drop down as much as you mentioned. Once you do the calibration see what happens and if there are no improvements get applecare to send you a new one.

    There is no way I would do the smc thing with a laptop that won't come on.

    If it's new and you're anywhere near an Apple Store, take it in. If it's less than 14 days old you can exchange it. If it's more they'll repair it for you.

    This might mean that there are songs that you purchases and downloaded from iTunes, then deleted from your Mac.
    Try this:
    View --> Show Music Not On This Computer
    Look for songs that are grayed out - those are songs that you purchased via iTunes but subsequently deleted from your computer.

    Thanks for the reply - I still know that this issue is also relevant for so many other apple products which don't involve cellular providers.... I think Australians are tired of paying so much more for things than in the US and other countries.  It used to be explained by the poor Australian dollar but that doesnt exactly work when we are over parity with the US dollar and have been for a while now....
