This is new, Frozen on iPhone

I have been using the iphone since day one.  I am up to date with software.  I put my iphone down while in email. when I picked it up it was frozen on that email.  the phone won't work, you cant use the home button, you cant turn it off, It won't sync, and itunes wont recognize the phone, and thus restoring it is not an option, any suggestions would be great.  I guess otherwise my only hope is to let the power drain, and when I plug it in from no power it will self reset.

Try a Reset of the Phone... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 10 - 15 Seconds...
