This is possible in InDesign CS5.5 using Folio Builder (DPS).

Hi DPS Experts,
I am new to this DPS work flow.
I am using InDesign CS5.5. I have the question? This is possible to create the apps for the below mentioned web link.
http://www.spanish-real-estate.co.uk/
The website is in joomla and the domain is www.spanish-real-estate.co.uk
The app will be free so I am not sure if this will need apple store approval.
If it possible please any one help to or guide how to I start the process how to uploaded the files in DPS and how to check it out the video and audio and everthing like in the website to be embeded in the iPad Apps.
Please give the path to achieve this goal.
thx,
csm_phil

Out of curiosity, why do you want your app to look like the actual website?
And Yes every app goes through an approval process before it appears in the app store.

    Moved to DPS forum.
You need to set up the pages appropriately for the target device. For iPad that's 1024x768.

  • An update is required to use Folio Builder.  Please click here to download the Folio Producer tools.

    Hello,
I'm using CS 5.5, Mac OS 10.8.4. I've spent the last two nights trying to figure this out but I am really stuck this time... I think the issue I'm having is similar to IDEAMAN1 but I got lost on his advice after trying some stuff out, so help would be greatly appreciated!! (I'm only medium-level tech savvy...)
Trying to create my first epublication. Downloaded FolioPanel v26 and installed it, then FolioProducerTools v27 and installed it. Realised I had stuffed it up so uninstalled both using the uninstaller. Re-downloaded FolioProducerTools v27, FoiioPanel v27 and installed in that order and popup said the updates were ready to go. Opened InDesign and folio builder panel said "An update is required to use Folio Builder.  Please click here to download the Folio Producer tools.". The link brought me to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=172&platform=Macintosh which is where I downloaded the original files anyway.
So I've tried uninstalling, restarting the computer, trashed preferences, closed CS5.5ServiceManager, reinstalling heaps of times and not sure what I should try next. Please help!! Thanks!!!!

That notification is often a bug.
I get it regularly when I launch InDesing while connected to my Thunderbolt Display.
If I disconnect my Macbook from the Display, relaunch InDesign it works fine - reconnecting to Thunderbolt display after this also still allows the Folio Producer tools to load properly.

  • Sign in with indesign CS6 in folio builder panel

hi! I can't sign in with indesign CS6 in folio builder panel. what can a i do?? I can sign in from adobe web page, but not from indesign, and the option "updates" from "Help" menu is deactivated

I found one way to fix it:
    - quit all CS6 apps
    - if in OSX force quit the CS6ServiceManager via Activity Monitor app
    - go to the User Library (hold down option key while accessing the Go menu) and find these:
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS6ServiceManager/preference/csxs3.pref  - move this file out to desktop
Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/opm.db - move this file out to desktop
zip these up and delete the original, you now have inaccessible copies to put back just in case but have found this unnecessary.
    - Restart Indesign and log in should now hold.
Found this started to happen after updating to 10.9.2, on a number of our designers machines.

  • Folio producer tools update required to use folio builder but content viewer app not available

    Hi,
I have a problem with DPS Folio Producer tools.
We are unable to use Folio Builder to update our iPad presentation to the cloud because we keep getting this message: An update is required to use Folio Builder. Please click here to download Folio Producer Tools.
We have previously done this only to discover that the new version of Folio Producer Tools is incompatible with the Content Viewer and the new Content Viewer app is not yet approved, or available from Apple.
So we have done a rollback to a previous version of the Folio Producer Tools which worked for a few hours, but is now prompting for the update again - but as explained above we cannot download the update until the Content Viewer app is available.
    HELPPPPPPP!!!

    This is the DPS model.
When a company thinks first about monetizing solutions instead of making it an extra option.
You are not free anymore to use the tools you want, you must follow Adobe's decisions to update online apps.
Online apps are everything but good.
You will have to wait until the Viewer gets approved by Apple.
Dear Adobe: do you see how many people come here because they don't understand how your technical model works?

  • How to create plugin in Adobe InDesign -CS5 using java?

    Hi,
1.I want to create  new plugin in adobe in design CS5 using java .is it possible using java???Is any one know about  this please help me on this..

Short answer: No, it isn't possible. The only available option is C++ development in most cases.
Longer answer: It is possible to develop solutions with Java, depending on circumstances. The only available and truly sensible option is through InDesign Server which exposes InDesigns' scripting API to Java. Keep in mind that it us unavailable for desktop version of the product, and also, that it won't be a plugin, only scripting solutions. This means that you are given access to rather high-level API, and many details are removed. This may or may not be acceptable, depending on what exactly you want to achieve. Sometimes it is possible to avoid integration with Java at all.

  • InDesign CS 6 Folio Builder crashing

    Hello all,
I have a big problem with DPS tools for Adobe InDesign CS6 (CC) on Mac OS X Lion. Every time I start the Folio Builder or Folio Overlays panel it flickers 3 or 4 times and then the InDesign crashes. I have trashed the InDesign preferences and installed the latest patch for DPS tools without any improvement. Occasionaly the Folio Builder opens but then there are other issues (I've had 9 instances of the same file open at once with no way to close them - I close 3 or 4 and the same number of files  opens again).
I hope u understand it is quite annoying since i'm trying to build my first folio for a very important client and for now it's been a nightmare. I'm even considering reverting back to ID CS5.5.
    Please advise on further action.
A link to pastebin for error report: http://pastebin.com/ZvYHsGbd
    Thank you in advance,
    Matej

I've got the same problem here...
I installed InDesign 6 on Mac Snow Leopard system via the Adobe Application Manager and I'm using the Trial run for now.
After installation I updated all the components right away through the help menu in ID.
I also got InDesign 5.5 installed with the Digital Publishing Suite.
As soon as I click the Folio Overlays panel (docked or not docked) InDesign starts opening the same (so it seems) random file.
When I try to close one, another one opens, forcing me to force quit ID.
I allready tried the following solutions:
    - downloading the DPS directly from the website instead of the Updates menu
Which gives me an error when trying to install: 'can not apply updates'
    - I deleted the following preferences files and caches:
    /Users/user name/Library/Preferences/ StageManager.<long_guid>/Local Store/
    #SharedObjects
    - Tried the Ptach file, but it's an .exe so can't use it
Any other options? Beacuse it's pretty useless like this...
    Thanks a lot!

  • "An update is required to use Folio Builder"

    Hi,
I suddenly got this error 2 days ago, and it's been going on for days now.
I contacted my reseller for DPS and to be honest it's real "****" the only solutions they can come up with are the same solutions I find on these forums which none of them work.
We pay about 12.000 euro for this whole system a year and there isn't even a decent amount of support on this.
Here is a list of things I've tried:
    - Uninstalled Folio Builder and Folio Producer Tools, Reinstalled both tools
    - Uninstalled Folio Builder and Folio Producer Tools, Removed Folders and Files from "Application Support", Removed Preferences, Reinstalled both tools
    - Uninstalled Folio Builder and Folio Producer Tools, Removed Folder and Files from "Application Support", Removed Preferences, Uninstalled Indesign CS5.5, Reinstalled InDesign CS5.5, Reinstalled Both tools
    - Fixed Permissions on my HDD using OSX Disk Utility
    - Changed InDesign Folder Permission to Read & Write for everyone on the "Applications/Adobe InDesign CS5.5/" Folder (and child files and folders)
    - Rebooted dozens of times.
    - Disabled Firewall (in case a port was getting blocked or whatever)
The thing is... this happens on 2 iMacs and the other iMac is fine.
All macs are iMac Late 2013 and run the latest OSX Mavericks updates.
Also all iMacs use InDesign CS5.5

    Hi,
Based on your first post it seems you use InDesign CS 5.5 and WoodWing. We have +50 apps running on the very efficient combination of DPS for apps and WoodWing for content production.
If you use a plain InDesign CS 5.5 without WoodWing the answer from Adobe support will be "you can't use DPS with InDesign CS 5.5" - as CS 5.x is no longer supported and hasn't been since early September. CC will however work.
If you use InDesign + WoodWing then you should go to the community.woodwing.net site to get support. Adobe support won't be able to help you. CS 5.5 is still supported when using WoodWing, and we have daily newspapers producing on that combination - so... I would be the first to know if it stopped working (but it does).

  • InDesign Crashes Opening Folio Builder Panel

While working on a publication, I will leave the Folio Builder panel to open a different one. Upon trying to reopen the builder panel so I can add my publication to the folio, InDesign crashes. Without fail, everytime. No matter what InDesign document I have open, it will crash. I have to force quit, reopen and add the document first thing. before begining work on another article.
    Anyone know why?

I open Indesign and it automatically signs me into my dps acct.
I begin working on an article (using the different tools like object states, buttons, video)
all of those panels are in the same tool group as the folio builder so folio builder gets collapsed while using the other tools.
when it is time to update my article and i go to open the folio builder panel is when it freezes InDesign.
I don't have any exact steps to reproduce this because the other tools I use varies, but if the folio builder panel gets collapsed, InDesign freezes when I reopen it.

  • InDesign stalls on Folio Builder logout

InDesign locks up whenever I attempt to log out of Folio Builder. When I select logout it pauses and then the spinning beachball appears. At first I thought it might be an unresponsive server or Internet connection, but I've let it go for several hours on a couple of occasions and it doesn't recover. The only solution is to force quit.
This has happened consistently since the most recent DPS upgrade (to version 13.1.1.20130115_m_709452/8.0.10.25). It happens almost every time, with at least two different DPS accounts.
I'm running InDesign CS6 (8.0.1) on a mid-2012 Mac Pro, OS X 10.8.3. I've experienced other stability issues with InDesign since setting it up on this system, but they don't seem to be related to this.
    Anyone else experiencing this?
    Steve

I've been documenting each work session and for a while keeping the Folio Builder panel undocked seemed to make a difference. But for whatever reason the problem has gotten worse and now InDesign locks up consistently when I attempt to sign out. The only approach that gives me a fighting chance is signing out of FB immediately. If I do it right away -- without opening any folios, articles or pages -- it lets me sign out.
So for now my strategy is to simply close InDesign without signing out of FB, relaunch, then open FB and sign out immediately. Then I can switch to the account that I need to be working in.
I'm running a mid-2012 Mac Pro with OSX 10.8.3. I'll append the Console log for today's session to this message. I can send the hang reports if you're interested.
Since the application is terminating with exit code 15, is there a chance that the problem may be related to this?
Sorry I can't be more help. This is a nasty problem that's playing havoc with my workflow.

  • I am having trouble starting Indesign with the folio builder panel

Every time I start indesign and change my tools to the DPS tool set the folio builder pannel flickers and then disappears and then indesign shuts down.
I had some success deleting the preferences files but need a long term fix. Any thoughts?

Well yes, of course you are having trouble using MobileMe because MobileMe no longer exists and has not existed for the last 2 years at least.
MobileMe has been replaced by iCloud, so you will never be able to use MobileMe because it does not exist.
Also, I would suggest that you look more closely before you post, because you have posted this in an iPhone forum and this question has nothing to do with iPhones.  You would get more help if you posted in the correct forum.

  • Can I use Folio Builder with my Adobe ID on another computer?

I'm working in Windows XP. I have a folio hosted in my free acrobat.com workspace, with the source files on a network drive. If I sit at someone else's computer in my workgroup and log in to Folio Builder, I can see my folio and can edit and save the articles just fine but I cannot Update them. Any attempt to Update an article in Folio Builder produces a 'content generation error'. Any attempt to get a Preview produces the same error.
Back on my own computer, everything is hunky dory.
Is this expected behaviour? Do Preview and Update rely on temp files in my specific Application Data folder, perhaps? I have ditched InDesign prefs on the computer in question but it makes no difference.
    Alistair

    Hello John,
Yes, the ability to relink (much like you can do with media in After Effects, Premiere Pro, and InDesign) is what I had in mind.  I actually did look for a place in Folio Builder that would let me redefine the location of the parent folder for all of my folios.  In the video production world we have to move and share source and media files with other people frequently so I was surprised to learn this wasn't yet supported with ADPS.
For us the main reasons for some sort of relinking ability are:
    - When you need to update files on a work trip, from home, or some other mobile situation.
    - For instances in the future when you have backed up a project and need to restore it to make updates.
    - When you need to hand over a project to someone else at a different workstation or even another facility.
Of the two choices you mentioned, I think the ability to "fix" the broken links makes the most sense for the situations I've encountered so far.  Assuming it's straightforward I would have no problem going through the process when switching machines.  I would assume that print designers are familiar enough with linked assets that they wouldn't have a problem with this either.

  • InDesign Quits when Folio Builder selected

    Hello,
My InDesign unexpectedly quits when I open my folio builder. Why is this?

I moved your question to the DPS forum, the best place to ask about the Folio Builder.

  • Managing stacks after using Folio Builder

The prerelease Content Bundler made managing stacks easy. Am I missing something with the release tools? I only see the Folio Builder and it seems not to include any way to reorder pages. It seems like the order the articles are added to the Folio is the way they have to appear in the Content Viewer.
I'm not sure if it's a related issue, but I am also experiencing hyperlink issues. Links that worked seamlessly in the prerelease now don't appear to work on the iPad.

Ah for the twitter issue specifically i found it in Twitters mobile help guide documetation.
Problems are common with "redirection" and webviews.  This is because Apple's UIwebview object is not a mobile safari and handles certain tasks differently.  If you know a website will require a redirection then its good practice to link it to the final redirected URL otherwise the UIwebview object will lock it down and display nothing.  So in all honesty its more of an Apple issue than an Adobe issue.
usually when you do this inside of xcode the webview application passes the direct URL through a "NSURL" object then through the "UIWebView Delegation" method--- but it is URL specific so Adobe would have to hand code Every possible Mobile redirection out there.
But hey thats what testing things out is for.  So if a website doesn't display.. most likely they have a redirection in place.
