This is weird. . . .(printing problem)

I have a full calendar. Go to print and just see a garbled mini month in the top left corner. Everything looks checked like it should be included. It just worked a few days ago. Now this. . . .. Anybody else have this problem? Thanks.. . ..Jim C

I also have the same problem. No matter the format of the calendar you want to print, it comes out miniaturized. Very weard... My iCal is 1.5.5. I'm really looking for help. Jim you're not alone...
Thanks to everyone.

  • Weird printer problem using Express, Vista and Dell

I have a new Dell Inspiron 1525 running Vista Home Premium. I have a Brother printer hooked up to my Express. Set up printer via Bonjour w/o problems. Computer recognizes the printer and seems to send info to it. But when I try to print, it only prints the first few lines and then just stops. Won't print anything else. And if I try to print another document, it does nothing at all (doesn't even print the first few lines). Tried with an HP printer and got the same results. Have uninstalled and reinstalled printer many times with same results. Already downloaded updated drivers for printer.
Express works fine otherwise (connects to the Net, streams music from iTunes). But when connected to my old laptop that ran XP, suddenly stopped printing wirelessly (would print nothing at all). I wrote it off to computer problems at the time. Now I wonder if the printer connection on the Express is malfunctioning even though the rest of it is working fine.
    Help please -- anyone! Thanks.

    Welcome to the discussions, Charles266!
However, when I take my Express to another room and connect it to a Solwise Gigabit Homeplug and my other homeplug connects to my network I then seem to have problems.
Connection Sharing = Share a public IP address
This would be the correct setting if your AirPort Express is connected directly to a simple modem (a simple modem has only 1 ethernet port)
If you have the Express connected back to another router (it will have 3-4 ethernet ports), then the correct setting for Connection Sharing would be "Off (Bridge Mode)"
I can't say if this will solve your problem. If you continue to have issues, then test using an ethernet cable from the Express back to your main router. If this works well, then one or both of the powerline products is suspect.

  • RDS 2012 weird printing problem

    Hello All,
We have a very strange issue with 1 of our users. She can crash the print spooler very frequently. The problems almost always occurs when she need to print an excel file. Due to the frequency we needed to make sure the print spooler would always restart
otherwise making all of our users unable to print. The excel file she's trying to print isn't that large (90kb) and contains data from column A - AB. It consist of 684 rows of data. She then goes to file --> Print selects a printer and *boom* the spooler
crashes. It than display a message. The message usually lists:
    1) Cannot connect to the printer
    2) No printers installed
This also makes the event viewer fill up with the following events:

While testing we came across a strange phenomena. When she logs onto a RDS server using RemoteApp we see that automatically a group of printers gets created. Those are not displayed in excel/word/outlook/etc. and are only visable trough Control Panel. If
we delete those and she relogs the automatically get recreated. Which printers are added differs from the server she is logged on by our load balancer.
    Background of our RDS
Our RDS environment consist of a connection broker and 2 application servers. All of which are running
Server 2012 (non R2). All applications are started as a remoteapp from a Windows 7 or 8(.1) update 1)) or axel zero client. User have Remote Roaming Profiles (RRP) and a User Profile Disk (UPD). These are cached onto the RDS server, so creating a new profile
is almost impossible by our knowledge.
The odd part of all this is that we cannot reproduce this issue, and only this 1 user has this issue. Even removing all printers and leaving just the XPS and one note printer from Microsoft is enough to let the spooler crash. Because of this (and the fact
that no one else has this problem) makes me very certain this isn't an issue with our Print server;RDS server or Drivers.
So my question basically come down to:
    1) Can i easily give the user a new profile even though the profiles are cached? (since this is a production environment a reboot can only happen on maintenance periods)
    2) Where are these extra printers coming from? And how do i get rid of them?
General troubleshooting tips on this issue are welcome. As i'd like to know how this started or how i can find more helpfull information.
Thanks guys and have a happy x-mas.

    Hello, Niek
    Slenders.
Your problem very similar to us. We are using RDS on Windows Server 2012 R2 and RD Clients are Windows 7. Using Profile Disks too.
    Main problems :
1). Print Spooler crashing. We enabled execution of Print Drivers in isolated process Group Policies. Learn
    more.
2). Extra Printers, that cannot be deleted with user rights (Usually they looks transparent in Devices and Printers). This
update did not help. These printers are server specific and profile recreation does not help. If administrator log on server and delete these excess printers - they will disapper for
all users on this server. Therefore, they are store somewhere in HKLM. Temporary solution we use - clear
    registry hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001(002)\Enum\SWD\PRINTENUM\ with Registrar Registry Manager and then reboot server;
3). Cannot connect to the Network Printer via FQDN. Solution -  clear registry hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
    NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Providers\Client Side Rendering Print Provider\Servers
4). None printer set as default - profile recreation helps.
    Hope this help.
    Hello fapw,
Thanks for your response. It is very detailed and i'm sure it will help us.
    1) Already enabled isolation mode in case it were bad drivers. But the spooler keeps chrashing.
    2) Just as we are experiencing. Thanks for pointing out the registery location. This might a great shot during the next maintenance window.
    3) We have not yet seen this issue. Might be because we use the internet printing role and the users connect trough the webpage.
    4) Hasn't been an issue so far. But good to know.
    Will keep you updated.
    Regards,
    Niek

  • Weird Print problems and conversion to PDF problems...

I edited a logo in Illustrator for a hat using spot colors. 3 colors total. I saved as illustrator and then placed in InDesign for sizing. I printed it and some of the color didnt show up. So I figured it was the spot colors screwing with our printer. I printed again, but this time, in the ink manager of the print dialogue, I converted all spots to process. That substantially changed the colors in the image. I saved to PDF and then opened in Photoshop, and I get missing color plus changed color. Whats up? Looks great on screen when in Illustrator, and placed in InDesign.. but when It prints or is converted to PDF and opened in Photoshop, it goes to hell.
All Creative Suite 2 files on a Mac

Yep.. it's an overprint issue. When I open the PDF, the overprint version is all screwed up... and over print preview OFF looks fine.
Why is overprint doing anything? I dont intentionally do anything with overprint..I dont really know what overprint is, let alone want anything to do with overprint. I want whats on screen to print...

  • G550 weird printer problem

I've just done a clean XP install on a new G550 machine, but can't successfully install _any_ printers. The printer is detected when I plug it in, but driver setup fails with something along the line of "couldn't find printer compatible with driver" - slightly different for each brand and model of course. I've tried 3 different printers all of which are working perfectly on other machines of various configurations (including XP). Suspecting a USB problem I tried disabling Legacy USB support in BIOS with no luck. A USB mouse works fine though. Device manager shows all devices are working with suitable drivers. Should I give up on XP and try something newer?

The boss came in and found the IP address, when I out that in it was able to find it and it's working again.
But I'd really like to know 2 things if anybody has any ideas:
1-Why did the printer vanish in the first place? I've never seen anything like it.
2-Why could it not find the printer by it's name when it could in the past? Where the printer is the name is as well and it is what I put in.

  • Could someone verify this please: weird sound problems

Could someone please verify the following. Plug in your headphone into the headphone (minijack) port on the left. Restart your computer.
Can you hear the startup sound through the built-in speakers, or not? I don't think you should, but I do. I tried everything (PRAM, PMU reset)... nothing solves it.
I also hear a quiet clicking sound through the headphones when any sound comes on. It then goes away sometimes, but it comes back with a restart.
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Could someone please verify the following. Plug in
your headphone into the headphone (minijack) port on
    the left. Restart your computer.
I keep speakers plugged into my Mac Mini to get better sound.
Can you hear the startup sound through the built-in
speakers, or not? I don't think you should, but I do.
Yes, this is perfectly normal. This is how the Mac's are designed. They will always play their startup chime through the built-in speaker.
The external speakers will not do anything until after the machine has booted up completely.
I tried everything (PRAM, PMU reset)... nothing
    solves it.
There's nothing to fix. It is working just as it should.
I also hear a quiet clicking sound through the
headphones when any sound comes on. It then goes away
sometimes, but it comes back with a restart.
This can just be line noise.
If you are talking about head-phones, then it's possible you are hearing noise from a loose connection. Try wiggling the connector and see if you hear the noise. If so, then it could be that you are inadvertently moving this connection when you move your head around.
Likewise, see if the noise appears when you move the wire around a little bit. If so, there might be a short in the wire.
If you are working with external speakers, then it could be that the speakers are amplifying some line noise that they are picking up. This can be noise that is generated on the circuits inside the computer.
There's any number of things that can cause clicking sounds like this. I would try other speakers, and maybe even a higher-quality audio cable and see what happens.
    Hope this helps.

  • Printing problems with iPhoto

I have been trying to print 5x7 pictures (or other various sizes) from my iPhoto library, but the printer is printing the actual iPhoto page (i.e., the menu column on the left which includes the listing of events, albums, etc. is actually printing along with any photo thumbnails that can fit on the page) Does anyone know if this is a printer problem or and iPhoto problem?

    Greetings,
If you see the actual iPhoto window with the sidebar and everything when you print, that would quality as "super weird" in my book. I'm assuming when you go to File > Print you see "iPhoto" in the upper left hand corner right next to the Apple yes?
    Lets try the basics:
Ensure all your software is up to date (Apple Menu > Software Update).
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
Home > Library > Caches (I remove the whole folder. It will be re-generated upon restart.)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
Once that is complete follow these steps to print your photos: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/7.0/en/6363.html
If the issue persists Reset the Printing System and try again: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/14001.html
    Hope that helps.

  • Printing problems on Server 2008R2 - Server 2012R2

    Hi,
We have troubles with Firefox and printing pages.
First i want to say i have already tried all this steps:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-printing-problems-firefox
    Let me explain my problem:
In a TerminalServer Session i want to print a website from firefox.
Sending the print job in Firefox works without error reports, but then the printer "Data" lamp is blinking and the printer Says proccessing.
First i thought the printer has been broken but then i tried this on 6 other printers in our company.
    Printers: HP, Sharp, Brother, Develop.
Every Printer has the same problem. No one could print anything anymore. I had to turn off the printers to get them working again.
Resetting the about:config -> print_printers was not working, after this the printer was printing one Job then the problem was there again.
I also have deleted the profile in AppData, but this has not resolved the problem.
So can you please tell me what the problem is?

    Hi,
The Dump File has abaout 290mb, what should i do with that file?
The Machines are running on 2 different Hyper-V 2012R2 Hosts,(1 HP Server and 1 Supermicro Server, Intel Xeon 2620V2) the latest Integration Services Drivers on the guest machines are up to date.
    This is the printing Problem:
Firefox sends the Webpage to the Printer. After a short time the printing Job is cleared from the list of actual Jobs.
The Printer Says now he got a Job an says "Processing...", well.. this happens by every printer in our Company.
Only turning off the Printer and on again makes the Printer working again to print anything from other programs.
At the moment where someone sends a print Job from Firefox (Problem exists only on TerminalServers 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2012R2.) to any Printer, the Printer must be restarted to work again.
    Printing from Server 2003R2 works.

  • Print problem with 11.0.04

After ugrading to Adobe Reader 11.0.04, I cannot print any pdf (old or new).  I tried disabling all the features in security (enhanced) preferences, but this did not help.  Any solutions to this?  Should I consider downloading Foxit instead?

Thanks again for your help with the IE problem.  I see that "froggiedawg" made this registry change without much trouble, so I may try it -- but perhaps not until I can get someone to look over my shoulder.  Meanwhile, I am using Firefox.
As regards the printing issue:  I did hook another printer (HP F4480) to my computer and received the same error. So, I believe this to be a bug associated with my recent installation of Adobe Reader XI.  I hope Adobe has a technician working on the general problem.  Several people appear to be having issues with AR-XI. Following, I offer more details of my downloading/printing experience--in case it is of use.  I am not tech savy, so please make allowances for my wording!
I am mainly downloading journal articles.  I link to the journal website and open an html of the article.  There is an option to open a pdf.  I click on this option and a readable pdf appears on the screen.  So far, so good. Now I go to "Edit>Save Page As" and attempt to save the pdf. There is no option to save the file as a pdf, only as a html or text file.  If I go to the download bottom at the top right of the screen, I CAN download the pdf.  This would would be a good work-around, except (as mentioned above), I receive an error when trying to print the file ( as well as ALL my pdf files). I can also print using the button at the top right of the screen (although the quality is poor).  So, while I posted this as a printing problem, it may be something more general.
Thanks again for your help.  This is my first experience with a forum and I am finding it quite useful.

  • Hp smart web printing does not work on firefox. HP says this is not their problem and to contact Mozilla. Is there a plug in available?

I just bought a new hp printer. the software has a feature called HP web smart printing. The feature works on explorer but not on Firefox. HP says this is not their problem and suggested I contact Mozilla. Is an add on available and if not will one be made available.
I am using v. 3.6.13. and the printer is HP Officejet 4500.

HP smart web printing is an application that only works with IE. In spite of what HP have told you, if they want their application to work with Firefox they will need to make a version for Firefox. It is not down to Mozilla to make a version of the HP software for Firefox.

Do you even know how to nuke and re-set Photoshop's preferences, colorplak?  Your last post seems to reveal that you don't understand what I'm talking about. Here's a link you can click on:
Preference file functions, names, locations | Photoshop CC
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by deleting the Adobe Photoshop CC Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
Note for Photoshop 14.1 and later: If you use Generator and reset your Preferences, Generator is disabled. Choose Preferences > Plug-ins to turn it back on.
Video: Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here.
    Mac OS
Important: Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If you require access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.

I don't know if this is a Firefox problem so I ask, When printing how come it always prints so small I nearly need a magnifying glass? Is this caused by something else I may have set incorrectly? help please, from a very satisfied Firefox user

This only happens when I'm in my browser. Ex. when I'm on a site and I decide I like what I see and want to print it text that is, my printer always prints tiny. When I'm in Microsoft Word for ex. I print it and it looks like what I expect. So I don't know if somehow my printer got set to print tiny when on the web. If you can help me I would be most appreciative. Thanks again for your response.

  • If I use Explorer, none of these problems exist. This suddenly happened overnight! I have your newest upgrade and I haven't had any problems for the past year or so....this is weird.

  • IMac printing problem with HP Photosmart 7150

I've just bought a 27 inch iMac and I'm having problems printing out of iPhoto 9. I select for eg, 4 X photos per page and it prints about 10% of the page before spitting it out. I've downloaded the latest driver for my HP Photosmart 7150 printer (Gutenprint v5.2.5) but still no good.
The print monitor window always says it is printing Page 1 7%. Weird.
    Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.
    Dan

I've got the same problem on my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard and Gutenprint 5.2.5 when printing on the 7150 - it prints about 10% (and skewed at that) and spits out the page. This occurs when printing from any app.
I am only able to print in draft mode which is not suitable for anything I need to do.
I realize this printer is no longer officially supported, but any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Mike.
