may sound silly but where do i find my attachments after i download them

What attachments are you talking about? Do you mean the files and or photos you receive in emails?
Mail loads the attachments and they should appear in the body of the email. Some can be viewed by tapping on them. If you have a compatible app you can save them to the appropriate app. An example might be a Word document. If you have an app that edits Word docs like Pages or some other app, tapping on the attachment will bring up a choice to open in Pages.

  • This may sound silly but can anyone tell me if facetime is done through wifii or is it charged as a long distance from canada to us

this may sound silly but can anywone tell be if facetime is wifi or a long distance charge?

FaceTime is NEVER charged. It is basically going through the internet, as if you were watching a YouTube video, it just takes data. You probably have a data limit through your wireless provider, for example, I can only use 3Gb of data per month on my iPhone 5 through AT&T.
If you use Wi-Fi, you will NOT be charged for data (unless your internet provider has a cap on the amount of data you can use).
If you do facetime over cellular data, you just have to watch your data usage. You can watch your data usage in Settings > General > Usage. AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint all offer free apps you can use to monitor your data usage (among many other things, like pay your wireless bill, etc.).

  • I know this may sound silly but i'm scared

ok my parents got me my macbook about 2 months ago and everything's ok until about now. mac's are suppose to be silent computers right? (i've used macs for years but never go into the technical aspect) now my laptop has been whirring a lot.
i know it may not sound like much but it's the same whirring noise my dad's old mac used to make before it froze. and i'm scared of my laptop freezing on me unexpectedly. it tends to make this noise while i'm playing the sims 2 (btw while i was installing the sims 2, it warned me that my processor was under the required 500 whatever-the-units-are ,i forgot, but i clicked ok and play the sims 2 fine) but would stop after some time. now it makes it while i'm doing something simple like using safari or yahoo messenger.
i think it should help to mention that i do quite a bit of downloading. i downloaded a ton of widgets the other day and sometimes get music and some tv shows (and on the itunes store too) and i use limewire sometimes but my laptop whirrs when i do.
so any diagnosis? should i uninstall the sims 2? stop downloading? or use my laptop like normal and hope the whirring wont lead to things to come?
    i'm really worried...

It sounds like your fan is constantly running.
That widget I posted will tell you the fan speed, and internal temperatures, and what is chewing up the machine, and . . .
But not as much detail about running apps as Activity Monitor. Good to use both.

  • HT4864 Thank you! This may sound lame but are these instructions for the blackberry? I'm receiving iCloud emails without problems on my MacBook Pro and I'd rather not mess w/ settings there.

Thank you! This may sound lame but are these instructions for my blackberry? I'm receiving iCloud emails without problems on my MacBook Pro and I'd rather not mess w/ settings there. Thanks again!

You don't need to start a new thread to continue a conversation, you can just tack onto the original one. The settings I referred you to are for the Blackberry, since that's the device which is not receiving mail: anything which is working can be left alone.

  • This may sound dumb, but is there an app or a monthly subscription to carry wi-fi or internet connection. so i dont lose connection when i leave my house. want internet connection at all time

I have an ipod touch 5th gen.  storage capacity is 27.9 / 23.3 available.  IOS 7.1.2    model # ME978LL/A.   My question is, now this may sound dumb. But i was wanting to know if there is a app or a monthly subscription to have internet connection or wi-fi at all times instead of just shutting my ipod off very few apps work without internet connection almost dosen't seem worth 300 dollars.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR INFO.

Your internet connection depends on access to a wifi network. When you leave your house you go out of range of your own network, so the only way to connect is to find a free or paid public wi-fi service in the location you are in at the time; the alternative is to use your iPhone for what is called 'tethering' (providing a wifi signal you iPod can connect to) but it you have an iPhone you would want to use that anyway (and many service providers don't allow it - in any case it comes expensive as you are using a mobile data connection).

  • This may sound ridiculous but how do you stop a song playing ?

I can play a song, pause a song, shuffle and many other things but I can not find any function that just stops it altogether!
In video you press the "done" button but no such thing appears in music - am I going mad?!

I think that the "Close" just means "make this little music window go away now," not "Close down the music app." At least, that's how it's always worked for me (before and after the upgrade). If you are playing music and doing something else and bring up that music window on top of what you're doing, you still need to hit pause in order to stop the music.
If you hit pause and the "Now Playing" arrow is still up, it doesn't really mean much except that you can easily get back to what you were playing if you go back into your music. Your music isn't still playing. It's just holding your place. That's how I think of it, at least.

  • This may sounds silly... Disk Space.

I have a new Macbook Pro that I use for school, DJing and work.
I am having a problem with the disk space, and am trying to clean up all the old files and things I don't need on the computer. I want my 140gigs of music on my computer and have moved all my movies and such to an external HD.
I discovered however, when I look in my HD on my mac theres a place in the column on the left that has all these images stored that I don't know about, perhaps things that have been sent in e-mails over the years? Before I ever had this computer? It says "search for" and then under that it says today, last week, all documents, etc... Is the all documents section taking up space on my computer? Does this mean files like mp3s are stored on my computer twice or in multiple places? I can't seem to delete these photos or files either... I just want to know where they come from and why they are there and if they take up extra space.
And any other suggestions on how to get my computer cleaned up more or get more internal HD space?
    Thank you.
    Alea

Those little clocks and little purple folders with a gear on them represent "Smart Folders". They are not, in fact, folders at all. They are stored searches. If you double-click to open one up, you see files on your system that meet the criteria of the search. There are not duplicate copies, it just presents you with what looks to be a folder in Finder.
For example, you could go to finder and create your own search by going to File > New Smart Folder...
An empty finder window pops up, but you can use the search bar to add search criteria for the files you want to look for. Then click "save" -- and it will ask where you want to save the search and if you want it to appear in Finder's sidebar. From then on, opening that "Smart Folder" will search for files on your system that meet the criteria you specified. If you want a that that shows all of the pictures you took with an exposure time of < 1/30th of a second -- you can do that.
Files are not duplicated. However, your Mac does maintain a database of information about files used by Finder and Spotlight (the little magnifying glass in the upper-right corner). That does take some space, but much less than the files themselves.
If you are running low on space, remember to empty the trash. Many people forget that when they delete a file, it goes into the trashcan and the space isn't freed up until they empty the trash.

  • This may sound stupid but for some reason I can no longer use the return button after typing in a url to go to that site. Does anyone know how to fix this?

For some reason this stopped working on firefox a week or so ago. I have tried to uninstall and install firefox again but the problem still persists. I've tried both chrome and explorer and they don't seem to have this problem.
I'd hate to stop using firefox but this so annoying that in less i can fix it, i'll have to change my browser!

    Hi larryhall,
I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
    Hopefully this helps!

    Try this instead:
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. Select the backup volume from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)
    4. Click on the Erase button.
You will need to reconfigure Time Machine preferences for the backup.
FYI: Never remove Time Machine backup data except through the Time Machine application. If you aren't sure about using Time Machine then visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things related to Time Machine.

  • This may sound dumb but can i return music that i have bought?

I bought an album i was intending on buying, so im wondering if i can return it?

All purchases are final - you can't return something you've already downloaded. If you have purchased something in error you could try asking iTunes Support whether they could consider refunding you just this once: they have been known to do so but please be aware that they are under absolutely no obligation to do so.
To contact them, go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; select 'All Products and Services' in the first column, 'iTunes' in the second column and then 'iTunes Store' in the third column.

  • This may seem silly, but what font is this?

I am having to recreate a logo for someone using this font. They said it was made 10-20 years ago but that could be exaggerated. I know I have seen this font before and feel like it should not be that hard, but I have been stuck so bad! I know when I find out that I will feel really dumb.
Does anyone know what font this is?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Just click it and then click Delete on your Keyboard. There is no way to delete videos by right-clicking (so just use your keyboard).
