This must be obvious

First time here! I just spent the last two weeks or more learning FCE and LiveType and wanted to have some fun with Soundtrack before I do the hard stuff. Anyway I breezed thru the manual then opened up ST to play with it. All the instruments in media are greyed out and I cannot for the life of me get them lit and drag them to a track. I am familar with Garage Band and in the ST manual it says click on the instrument and drag to the track. Can any one tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks very much (in advance) maybe my brain is full from studying LT and FCE for so long.

The GB loops are different than the ST loops, but they can work with each other, which is sweet.
I seem to recall that you have to specifically install the ST loops; they don't atuomatically install as they take up a lot of disk space.
Throw your install DVD in again and go find 'em! Then, copy those loops into your GarageBand loop browser, and add a TON more loops for use in that program.

I've seen this requested in several past Lightroom versions.
Is Adobe not addressing this basic feature for a reason?, I mean, even Aperture has this feature, it can't be that hard to add? Can it?
Maybe Adobe isn't reading the feature request?

Honestly, I am hardly qualified to even guess - there are tons of bugs reported that would be easy to fix, but aren't, features that would be useful and easy enough to implement, but aren't. Things like focus points which seem like a no brainer but are never implemented - your guess is as good as mine..
But to be clear: focus points are different for different cameras, and are stored in proprietary metadata. - not impossible to get at, obviously, but requires some programming/maintenance..
Worth noting: Apple is shutting down their Aperture business. Yeah, they support focus points and all kinds of good stuff, but I guess Aperture isn't a real money-maker for them (lotsa maintenance work, but not a lot of revenue) - relatively small market.
Adobe has been working on Revel, and Lightroom Mobile.., instead of focus points (and bug fixes, and...) - my guess: that's where the money is, or where they think it is.

The Buddy's Audio can get dropped completely if the speed of your Internet connections are vastly different.
For example the minimum speed for a 1-1 video chat is only 128kbps Upload (As Downloads tend to be faster).
Where I live in the United Kingdom I can only get DLS. This is further subject to the distance to the Exchange.
DLS at less than 3.5 km can be done at 20Mb at most exchanges.
At some exchanges there is roll out of some Fibre optic services.
In most larger towns and cities there is normally the option of a Cable service that offers similar figures.
In some parts of Sweden you can get 100Mbps services.
When the speed from your ISP varies a large amount then iChat will drop Frames to smooth out the Video
There comes a point when so many frames are dropped that the Audio will not make sense and will be dropped.
At about 128kbps a 5% variance will take you below the 100kbps mark (after allowing for the actual connection overheads)
At 10Mbps that 5% variance can be (in round terms) 500kbps
(A 500kbps service is itself good enough for a 4 way Video chat)
My experience is that PC users on AIM tend to only send the Pic at 10 frames a second (Fps). Any slower than this and the picture losses it's smoothness and flow.
You may see different Speeds and Frame Rates when you Call Out compared to when others Call In.
Setting the Bandwidth Limit to a lower figure such as 500kbps (fast enough for 4 way chats) may get around any variances in the speeds you see in the Connection Doctor during a live chat.

Hi, I've spent the last hour reading tons of docs & threads about the "call to this must be first statement in constructor" problem, but I still cannot work it out.

other then that it's unclear what you are trying to do or if it's 1 or 2 things
playing music videos simultaneously would imply you trying to play more then 1 at once, this is not something it support out of the box I'd say.
then there is the 2 apps, are you refearing to apps which should let play many music videos at once?
and do they freeze when you try to download them, or when you try to start them,
and maybe the name of the apps, in question would make it easier for people to help.

Yes, I think they would like you to by the CC plan. But you can still get the standalone.

This is exactly the same as the paid for version but time limited. I seem to recall that the option to convert the Trial to a Paid for version pops up every time you start it.

Changing Default Template ... this must be simple ??

This must be a simple task ... make a setting somewhere in BW such that the default template is no longer 0Analysis_Pattern, but rather ZD_TML_TML_01 (my custom template).
If I look in the SPRO settings, there is even a section called Set Standard Web Templates. If I open that section, then I can specify templates for Broadcasting, Query Precalculation, Report Precalculation, Enterprise Reporting and Ad Hoc Analysis. I have put my template in all of the above, just to be sure. However, when I run a query from query designer, it still executes in the SAP standard template.
The real reason for wanting to do this, is we want to add 3 buttons to our template, which are on the standard template, namely "New Analysis", "Open" and "Save As". I can easily add these buttons and their associated commands to my custom template, but the problem is that if you press the Open button, choose the query from the resulting popup window, it then loads in the SAP standard template, and not in my custom template.
I am assuming the 2 issues are related.
We are running NetWeaver 2004s if that helps.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I was having the same problem.But later solved using advice from Josh Hoarding!!.
Actually the setting from SPRO is not working.Jut open the 0ANALYIS_PATTERN take a backup for that.
. In 0analysis_pattern go to the xhtml tab and delete everything between the <body>.....</body> tags, then save the template and run, the template should be blank, now you copy paste the code from the template You designed( which u want as default) in 0analysis_pattern .This is working.

Problems building a spatial index - this must be a bug please help!

We have a rather large spatial data warehouse. The schema is a star schema and is partitioned. During a load recently we had an error with one particular dataset, when building the index we got:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29855: error occured in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine
ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD_10I", line 10
We have seen this kind of thing before, but usually dropping the data and reloading works fine (or rebuild the index). I should not that this obviously occurs before the partition is exchanged in. We are running 10.2.0.2 on red hat ES3.
With this error we tried to reload the data, but get the same. We tried the data on another copy of the system, and the same. We have tried the data on a 10.2.0.3 and an 11.1.0.6 database and all fail at the same location. We have validated the geometries - all fine, I have tried changing the DIMINFO so that it spans the whole globe, it failes again (by the way we are on SRID 8307 and all data is point type). The data is approx 1.2M rows and I have tried subdividing it up into smaller tables and these all build fine. I have partitions with much higher row counts and these are fine. I have tried everything possible including changing index parameters e.g. parallel tablespace etc. I have tried it on a tablespace without ASSM and one with and both fail. I have an export of the data if anyone would be available to try it?
I would really appreciate any help at all on this one.

Has anyone tried emailing after the Yosemite upgrade? The size of the email pane is enormous and cannot be resized so I cannot see what I am typing as it disappears off screen to the right. This must surely be a fault?

The email window pane is huge and disappears off screen and I have not found any way to resize it. This means I cannot see what I am typing as the text disappears to the right off the screen. Only way to see what you are typing is to drag the pane to the left and then back again when the cursor moves to a new line. This surely must be a fault with the new Yosemite OS X?

Thanks, Bee! I never knew that one--it does resize the screen. But, what I want to do is resize it from the corner, or from the side, or from the top. I'd like to move it to another place on the page, if I need to. The bigger problem is that I can no longer click and drag to highlight a word or phrase, etc. Both of these things happened in Office and in Safari after I downloaded Yosemite. I feel sure that it is just some little trick like the one you suggested or some box that I need to tick to get things working like I've always known them to be. Thanks for any help you can give...

When I use maps, and search directions using the public transport, it only gives me one option.. Why cant I decide to use the train or the bus? because on this occasion its not showing me to use the tube despite this being the obvious and quickest way?

This may seem obvious, but how can you add, subtract multiply divide in forms central.

I do not see any way of performing basic math in Adobe Forms Central.
Even i Adobe Acrobat form designer there seems to be a way, but you cannot select the fields needed in the calculation?

Unfortunately, most of my advice is in the "hindsight is 20-20" category.
First off, I would never have purchased the peripheral accessories until the 14 day return period had expired. Second, you learned the hard way what the "14 days" really means.
Too bad you didn't do any homework, reading this and other forums and tech sites. Even word of mouth from others. That, more than anything could have steered you towards different phone choices from the get-go and I will leave that there with no further comment other than to say most of the issues you described have been discussed in this forum, ad nauseam.
Once you got into the refurbished phone exchanges, that is where things really went haywire. What someone tells you over the phone is a sketchy proposition, and when it comes down to it, it's your word against theirs.

This must be a bug....

When I play a converted music DVD I get slight but regular pauses of about 1-2 seconds when playing it from the music menu. It was converted using videora and saved as music video and I have set the Artist and album name so it shows up in the music menu.
I have no problems playing it as a music video, it freezes only when played using the music menu.
Is it because I have converted it using videora? Anyone else convert a large music DVD > 1hour long and not have this problem? If so please tell me how you did it.

You are not going to believe this but I figured it out and I have NO IDEA why this should effect motion like it does. The culprit is .......isight!
I unplugged every peice of hardware I have and started to reconnect everything one at a time, each time try to start the motion file. As soon as i plugged in isight the problems (Note I said problems) returned. I tried unplugging it again and everything came back. I tried a different FW port and and the problems came back again.
Well, at least I can sleep now knowing what it is.
A point for others who are having problems with motion crashing when trying to open certain templates. UNPLUG your isight. I had templates not opening also and now that is fixed since I removed isight.

Version Sets - This must be super easy

I've been using PS Elements 5.0 for a while now but only the basics.
Recently I downloaded a trial version of DXO Optics Pro to optimize the quality of the photos (especially RAW files) from my DSLR.
I setup DXO as an alternate Editor program in PSE 5.0
When I edit the photo in DXO and leave DXO, close the external editor, then an enhanced copy of that image is saved in my catalog.
Here is the question, which I would have thought would have been obvious but I couldn't find or figure out the answer myself:
Is there a simple way to have that photo show up right beside the original in my PSE organizer? I was unable to tag the original file and the enhanced file to be in a version set. And, I have used version sets in the past but always with photos from the same date of import.
I haven't tried but I guess I could download some utility to modify the file date of the DXO enhanced image but that surely can't be the only way.
I simply want to keep the original but have the enhanced version displayed as the top photo in the version set.
While I'm asking, is there a better way to use the DXO plug-in? I tried the export function in PSE 5.0 but it got me confused and I ended up setting DXO as my secondary editor instead.

Tricia is correct. However, you may be asking another question, too. If you edit in photoshop, then your edited copies will appear in the organizer after you save them, either as a version set or not depending on what you check off on the window that appears as you save the edited picture. However, if you use another editor the edited copy you create will not automatically get into the organizer. Instead you need to save the edited copy, then go back to the organizer and import the picture into the organzier from your hard drive. To do so in organizer go to: file>get photos>from files and folder. (Photoshop Organizer obviously wants it to be easier to use photoshop for editing rather than some other software *grin*)

I have a static method in a class. It needs to be able to get the name of its own class. How can it do this? One way would be to create an instance of its own class then call xxx.getClass().getName() but that would call the constructor as a side effect and I don't want to do that. I'm sure this is easy - in fact I'm fairly sure I've done this before - but right now I just can't see it.

use the class field, like java.lang.String.class, and so in your case my.package.toto.class
