This new update completely wiped my iPhone4 AND my Ipod.

I was prompted to take the update and when I did the screen on my phone and ipod was telling me to connect it to the computer. When I did that I was FORCED to restore...it didn't even let me choose to restore from a previous update. I LOSt over 500 pictures all my settings on my apps were wiped clean and I have lost all my custom ringtones.
I haven't noticed any issues with the battery life like everyone else seems to be reporting.
C'mon apple you're getting sloppy with the updates. Please fix this!

I always backup to my computer. I used to be able to restore from earlier dates. I could go in and actually choose which date I wanted to restore from prior to this most recent update. THIS time I could not do that. I had NO CHOICE but to completely restore if I wanted to get my phone to fire back up. I am not a new iphone user. I have been using it for 3 years, we have ipads, pods and a mac here. (4 of each) I never, ever have had a problem like this occur that I couldn't recover from BECAUSE I always have those backups saved on my computer. This time there were no back ups.
My portable devices are synched everyday...iCloud made that so much easier.

This is really unfortunate. I'm sorry that nothing works. I was going to mention holding down the power button and doing a force shutdown but you already did that. You might need to take it into the Apple store. I don't know if booting into safe mode would help. You would have to turn off the machine again, hit the start button and hold down the shift key after you hear the tone, but normally you would let go of the shift key when you see the apple logo and spining wheel. Maybe by holding down the shift key after you here the tone will cause the screen to come back on? The other option is to start up from the 'install disk' if your machine came with one. You would insert the disk, then shut down the computer, and hold down the C key right after hitting the start button.

iOS 6 can be loaded without problem on the 3GS. Not all features are supported however.
With respect to your reading people are having trouble, what did you expect to see on this technical support forum? People don't write in to state they have a trouble-free upgrade.

I have used Pages 09 and Keynote without any major problems until this new update. I have read many of the fixes but have a problem. When you get Pages 09 and Keynote back, Apples continues to want to update the 09 system. So it stays updated.

I can't say that I have had a problem playing videos in Flash because I could always play them in browsers other than Firefox.
In Firefox Tools>options>Advanced Hardware acceleration is turned on.
I don't know if that is different that tuning it off and on in Flash or not, but for now it is a moot point.
As I stated in my previous message, after following all earlier suggestions/instructions nothing helped. But The latest one, someone suggested that maybe version 17 of Flash might be a stable version.
I made no other changes except to install it, a few days ago, and so far so good.

Well, you don't absolutely have to have it ... but ...
First of all, here's what you would be missing (I assume you're talking about upgrading from iOS 5.1.1 to iOS 6):

Secondly, as additional upgrades become available, you'll fall farther and farther behind.
Thirdly, as apps are updated, you may lose out on the ability to run them, and you will lose out on added features.
So, it's not mandatory that you upgrade, but I strongly suggest striving to do so.

Thats a hard question to answer. The iPhone 4 has older technology than newer models which can cause the device to lag. Depending on what data and settings you have on the device, it could run slower. I would probably make sure to constantly close apps in multitasking and possible think about restoring the device as a new device. Make sure to backup your data prior to the restore

I assume you have actually installed Microsoft Apps..
In order to remove Microsoft Apps, you need to follow the same steps as you would removing most of applications.
From the main menu: Settings > Installations > Already installed > Microsoft Apps (long tap) > Remove
Please note that the installation of Microsoft Apps would have updated some core components, and as such those cannot be removed. You might therefore notice the amount of free space on the C: drive is not the same as what you started.
If you want to start from scratch you can either flash your device, or reset it to factory settings which would put your device into shipping conditions. Before doing down this road, I would suggest you back up all your data that you want to keep with Nokia Suite, such as contacts, messages, pictures etc..

Some folks recommend OmniDiskSweaper to allow you to review your stuff to find possible candidates to throw away.
Even if you throw away some stuff and your desired "1.98GB", then what? If that's the number you need for the update, you'll just use most or all of the reclaimed space with the update and you are right back to where you started.
You don't specify what kind of machine you got but presumably it's a mac pro since you posted in the Mac Pro community. In which case just get yourself another drive or two and move stuff around to free up your boot drive.
[Perhaps you should hurry too since I expect hdd prices might be going up due to possible impending hdd shortages.]
Finally, if some of those updates are major system updates you want extra drives for backups because I always recommend you never do major updates to your system without backups to that system.

If you had the previous version of those apps on your machine then the upgrade is free.
If you didn't have them installed you must purchase them.

That's because you're using the same Apple ID on both devices. On your phone: Settings>FaceTime>You Can Be Reached at>Remove your Apple ID.

Since the new updates am unable to move and scale a photo when trying to apply it as wallpaper or to a contact. Any ideas on how to fix this?

It's a known issue. You do have more control if you go into the photos app, resize etc and then send it to your wallpaper. It wont' be perfect, but better.

IMO, the most likely cause is a bad cable. 1Gbps requires all 4 pairs in the cable be connected. If only 2 of the 4 pairs are connected correctly, you will get a 100Mbps connect, but will not be able to connect at 1Gbps. Try replacing the cable with one known to work at 1Gbps.
