is there a way to grab the selected value from a "drop-down menu' and use it in a query statement?
here's my code:

Yuck. I'd say that such code shouldn't exist in a JSP, but I have to say that such code shouldn't exist at all.
And maybe you should try and learn what JSPs really are and how they work. Trying to combine HTML with JSP is foolish - at the time the HTML exists on the client, the JSP instance on the server might be long gone. You need to submit a form - best to a servlet - like you always do.

  • Need help on Flex JSP tag library

    I am new to Flex and currently developing portlets where I
    need to integrate Flex into JSP pages. According to various
    documents from Adobe and other online discussions, this can be done
    with Flex JSP tag library. It appears that the taglib used to be a
    separate package that you could download but no longer available (I
    was only able to find a few broken links). Instead, the library is
    now part of the LiveCycle DS product according to Adobe. However, I
    have downloaded LiveCycle DS and couldn't find the necessary taglib
    in the package. Your help will be highly appreciated.

    I'm trying to do the same thing you are. Its mentioned that
    the library is part of LifeCycle DS but I couldn't find it in there
    either.
    Here's a site I found where you can download
    FlexModule_j2ee.zip It includes some instructions too.

  • Need Help:  Problem with JSP setProperty to Bean

    Hi,
    This is my first time posting to this forum so I am not completely aware how Duke dollars work but if anybody can help me I will be happy to give some... whats normal for solving a problem?? 10??
    Anyway... the problem...
    I have a simple JSP with a simple HTML <form> that has a text field and a Submit button. Submit takes the user to the next JSP page however the setter method for property 'user' is never called. I can verify this through an attached debugger.
    I am using Tomcat 5.5, and I never had a problem like this in previous versions of Tomcat.
    I have tried changing the scope of the bean to request however nothing changed. I excluded all my business logic and tested this one more time just to make sure I wasn't inadvertadely screwing with something however this still does not work.
    I am sure I am missing something small but for the life of me I can't figure out what.
    Here is my code:
    index.jsp
    <%@page contentType="text/html"%>
    <%@page pageEncoding="UTF-8"%>
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
       "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html>
        <head>
            <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
            <title>JSP Page</title>
        </head>
        <body>
            <jsp:useBean id="something" scope="session" class="com.db.servlet.UserBean">
                <jsp:setProperty name="something" property="*"/>
            </jsp:useBean>
            <p>Select</p>
            <form id="Form1" method="post" action="multi.jsp">
                <p>User: </p>
                <input type="text" name="user" size="20"><br>
                <input type="submit" value="Submit">
            </form>
        <br><p>Or select Single mode.</P><br>
        <a href="tris.html">tris</a>
        </body>
    </html>UserBean:
    package com.db.servlet;
    public class UserBean {
        private String user = null;
        public UserBean() {
        public void setUser(String user) {
            this.user = user;
        public String getUser() {
            return user;
    }

    Oops!
    I not only realized my mistake, I also accidentally posted this in the wrong forum. I meant to post in the JSP Forum.
    For reference, what I did wrong was I placed my setProperty tag in index.jsp rather than placing it in multi.jsp (the file specified in the form action).
    Everything works now.

  • I have the first iPad and my mum has given me the iPad 2 I would like to put my stuff of iCloud on to this one please help

    I have the iPad 1which is backed up to iCloud my mum has given me her ipad2 how do I get my things of iCloud on this it does not give me an option as this one is per owned and does it store my kindle as well please help

    To restore your iCloud backup go to Settings>Geneneral>Reset, tap Erase All Conent and settings, then go through the setup screens on the iPad and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup and follow the prompts (sign into the iCloud account containing your backup, agree to the terms and conditions, then choose your backup to restore to).  Be sure it's connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.
    Note: the iPad 2 will have to be running the same or higher version of iOS as the one you backed up in order to restore the backup.  If it isn't, you'll need to update it in iTunes first.

  • Newbie at this and need help

    Hello,
    I am a complete newbie at this Itunes stuff and I have some very basic questions. If somebody would be willing to help me out I would appreciate it. So I have loaded Itunes on my PC. I then put in a cd that my friend burned a ton of songs on for me thinking that the CD would automatically appear in Itunes where then I could move it to my Itunes library. However the CD doesn't appear in Itunes and the only way I can play it is just through Windows Media. Any idea on how to get this to my Itunes library?
    In addition, sometimes when I try to play a song in Itunes it says that it can't find the file and asks if I want to locate it. I saved the burned CD in the Itunes folder on my computer but it still didn't seem to work. Any suggestions?
    Thanks for any help you can give.
    Chris

    I don't know much about CD not working problems, someone else will probably chip in.
    As a workaround while you are sorting it out, you can import tracks with Windows Media Player. You need to set the format to MP3 in the WMP options. On the latest version you have to click on Rip to find it. I don't remember where it is on the earlier version.
    Once you have imported the tracks find the name of the folder they are in, then open iTunes and click:
    File>Add folder to library
    Before you do this, you need to decide if you are happy to leave the tracks where they are or if you want to make a copy of them in the iTunes Music folder. You can set this in
    Edit>Preferences>Advanced>general
    There is a check box labled "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library.
    iTunes will work OK either way.
    On the CD thing - you should find "Run CD diagnostics" on the help menu - you could post the result here.
    (I am using Version 6.0.5 so things may not be quite the same on your version)

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

    Whenever i try and send an imessage to someone that has an iphone it gets stuck at times and won't go through. I then have to send it as a basic text and then it will respond message failed to send what should i do when it does this i need help

    The use of iMessage depends on both the sender and the receiver having an active data connection. If either of the two connections are interrupted, the message can fail. The sending of an iMessage differs from the sending of an SMS, and if you are having SMS failures, that would be a carrier concern.

  • Need help on Modifying Jsp Code to establish relationships in iStore.

    I am currently working on iStore an internet enabled product
    from Oracle.
    In iStore one can establish relationships between products like
    cross sell , complimentary, substitute, conflict etc. However at
    the moment only one relationship works i.e: Related. This is
    because this is a bug in iStore. Only the relationship Related
    is defined in the jsp. We have been asked to modify the jsp
    ibeCCtdItemDetail.jsp
    Please find pasted below the jsp which only had the arrays for
    related i.e: relitems and service i.e service have added the
    array complimentary to establish such a relationship and pasted
    the relitems code once again and changed relitems to
    complimentary. I am stuck up on this since the past 2 weeks i
    would appreciate if anybody could help.

  • Im new to this and need help with putting a password on my wireless

    I've had my linksys router for a few years now and recently have been asked to secure it so no one else in the neighborhood can connect to it but me but Ive never known how and I cannot find the installation CD for it.  I have a model number# WRT54G.  I tried searchin the forums but couldn't seem to find one I could understand.  If anyone could please offer me some help on how to simply put a password on it so just my computer and the others in the house can access the wifi thatd be great.  Thanks

    To set up wireless security, you must use a computer that is wired to the router.
    Where to find the router settings: The router's login password is usually on one of the "Administration" pages. The other settings are all found in the "Wireless" or "Wireless Security" section of the router's setup pages, located at 192.168.1.1
    First, give your router a unique SSID. Don't use "linksys".
    Make sure "SSID Broadcast" is set to "enabled".
    Next, leave the router at its default settings (except for the unique SSID), and then use your pc to connect wirelessly to the router. Test your wireless Internet connection and make sure it is working correctly. You must have a properly working wireless connection before setting up wireless security.
    To implement wireless security, you need to do one step at a time, then verify that you can still connect your wireless computer to the router.
    Next, encrypt your wireless system using the highest level of encryption that all of your wireless devices will support. Common encryption methods are:
    WEP - poor (see note below)
    WPA (sometimes called PSK, or WPA with TKIP) - good
    WPA2 (sometimes called PSK2, or WPA with AES) - best
    WPA and WPA2 sometimes come in versions of "personal" and "enterprise". Most home users should use "personal". Also, if you have a choice between AES and TKIP, and your wireless equipment is capable of both, choose AES. With any encryption method, you will need to supply a key (sometimes called a "password" ).
    The wireless devices (computers, printers, etc.) that you have will need to be set up with the SSID, encryption method, and key that matches what you entered in the router.
    Retest your system and verify that your wireless Internet connection is still working correctly.
    And don't forget to give your router a new login password.
    Picking Passwords (keys): You should never use a dictionary word as a password. If you use a dictionary word as a password, even WPA2 can be cracked in a few minutes. When you pick your login password and encryption key (or password or passphrase) you should use a random combination of capital letters, small letters, and numbers, but no spaces. A login password, should be 12 characters or more. WPA and WPA2 passwords should be at least 24 characters. Note: Your key, password, or passphrase must not have any spaces in it.
    Most home users should have their routers set so that "remote management" of the router is disabled. If you must have this option enabled, then your login password must be increased to a minumum of 24 random characters.
    One additional issue is that Windows XP requires a patch to run WPA2.   The patch is located in SP3, so you will need SP3 to run WPA2.
    Note:
    WEP is no longer recommended. The FBI has demonstrated that WEP can be cracked in just a few minutes using software tools that are readily available over the Internet. Even a long random character password will not protect you with WEP. You should be using WPA or preferably WPA2 encryption.

  • IMac won't keep system settings. Mac OS X version 10.6.5. New to this and need help. Thanks

    Just got my first iMac and am new to the Mac operating system. I figured out how to set it so I could connect to the internet and also set my wallpaper and screensaver to my liking.  After I shut it down and turned it on later, all of my setting were gone. It reset itself back to the original settings it had when I got it.  I bought it at an auction and it was previously owned by a local community college. I did not get any disks with it. I have searched the internet on how to fix it and am more confused than ever. I don't know if I have Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion, etc.
    The computer seems to work just fine. It boots up quickly is loaded with programs I have yet to learn. I do know that it sat unused for a year or more. Could it be that the internal battery could be dead? I have looked but cannot find any kind of diagnostic test or information regarding the internal battery on the internet. Not exactly sure what kind of info someone would need to help me fix this issue.  The hardware overview I found in system profiler looks like this:
    Model Name:                       iMac
    Model Identifier:                   iMac4,1
    Processor Name:                Intel Core Duo
    Processor Speed:               2 GHz
    Number of Processors:       1
    Total Number of Cores:       2
    L2 Cache:                             2 MB
    Memory:                                2 GB
    Bus Speed:                          667 MHz
    Boot Rom Version:              IM41.0055.B08
    SMC Version (system)       1.1f5
    Serial Number (system)     QP********U2S
    Hardware UUID                   00000000-0000-1000-8000-0016CB8BC90C
    Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

    The retail version of Snow Leopard is 10.6.3, so the only way this model would be running 10.6.5 is if someone installed a version of Snow Leopard that came with a new iMac model with 10.6.5 pre-installed. In effect this computer has the wrong version of Snow Leopard installed which could be the reason for your problem.
    I suggest you do this:
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
    You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
    After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    After you receive your Snow Leopard DVD do the following:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
    Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
    the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
             with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
             After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
             a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
    Booting From An OS X Installer Disc
    1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
      2. Restart the computer.
      3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
      4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple
          logo appears.
      5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
             button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
             After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
             size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
             partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
             and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
             (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
             with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
             Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
             username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
             Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
             install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
             Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
    Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
    Basic Backup
    For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components:
    1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences;
    2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is
         used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine
         requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the
         drive being backed up.
    Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
      1. Carbon Copy Cloner
      2. Get Backup
      3. Deja Vu
      4. SuperDuper!
      5. Synk Pro

    Although you can buy a complete external drive system, you can also put one together if you are so inclined.  It's relatively easy and only requires a Phillips head screwdriver (typically.)  You can purchase hard drives separately.  This gives you an opportunity to shop for the best prices on a hard drive of your choice.  Reliable brands include Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Toshiba, and Fujitsu.  You can find reviews and benchmarks on many drives at Storage Review.
    Enclosures for FireWire and USB are readily available.  You can find only FireWire enclosures, only USB enclosures, and enclosures that feature multiple ports.  I would stress getting enclosures that use the Oxford chipsets especially for Firewire drives (911, 921, 922, for example.)  You can find enclosures at places such as;
      1. Cool Drives
      2. OWC
      3. WiebeTech
      4. Firewire Direct
      5. California Drives
      6. NewEgg
    All you need do is remove a case cover, mount the hard drive in the enclosure and connect the cables, then re-attach the case cover.  Usually the only tool required is a small or medium Phillips screwdriver.

    1. iPod touches can use Calendar, Contacts, Clock, Calculator, Settings, Music, Notes, Videos, and Photos WITHOUT any wireless connection.
    2. iPod touches need to have a wireless connection for Safari, YouTube, Mail, iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, Maps, Weather, and Stocks.
    3. If you go to a place (like some hotels, Starbucks, etc.) that have a wireless connection, you may or may not have to pay. It depends on the wireless provider. Some public wireless networks you have to set up an account to access wireless.
    4. You cannot access any of the applications listed in 2 without a wireless network. This means if you are not at a location with wireless set up, you cannot access any of the applications in 2.
    5. If you are in a place outside a wireless network, you can't access any of those applications. (If you don't have a wireless network set up @ home, you can't access the internet)
    6. All the applications (including YouTube) are FREE, unless you buy a song on iTunes. Looking @ the top 10s or anything does not cost any money.
    7. There is nothing that you can (legally) download to access wi-fi anywhere your iPod touch is.
