This operation requires that microsoft project professional be installed

This operation requires that microsoft project professional be installed when launching "Open with MS Project" from a SharePoint 2013 task list. MS Project Professional is already installed on the machine.
Environment : Windows 7 SP1 , IE 11 , SP Enterprise 2013 ( Latest Patches )

I would check your file associations, make sure Windows knows to use Project to open the file type you are launching from Sharepoint.
Click start, Default Programs, File Assocoiations, you can then find the file extension of the type you are launching and ensure Project is listed s the program to open it, if the file type is not there, then add it by right clicking the file and selecting
"Open With."
If "Open With" isn't offered, just click on "Open". If there is no default program already associated with the file
type, you'll be given a choice of searching for a suitable program on the Web, or selecting a program from a list of installed programs, just as with the old "Open With".

  • Error msg This operation requires that Microsoft Professional 2013 is installed when using Sharepoint 2013

    Hi,
    I've recently installed Microsoft Project Professional 2013 and was successful at updating a SharePoint task list from within Project. However if I click on the Task list in SharePoint 2013 I get the error message; "This operation requires that Microsoft
    Project Professional 2013 is installed." Of course I have Project Pro installed and I've even tried repairing the installation but the problem remains. Has anyone seen this problem before? Any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks in Advance,

    Same here with SharePoint Online under an E3 license.
    I tried reinstalling MS Projects Pro, I get the same message... it does work if I use Google Chrome so the problem is likely with IE (I am using the latest version with updates applied)... seems to be related to some IE handler behind the scenes... any idea
    how to correct this?
    Note that this worked fine for a year until a couple of days ago (there must have been an update that messed up things)...
    MS, please help...

  • This operation requires that Microsoft Professional 2013-SP 2013

    I receive this error message when I click connect to Project in a task list. I received this error message upon the SharePoint updates: March 2015 CU and April sec updates. Any correlations to the sec updates and my issue?
    Update: I repaired MS Project Professional 2013 and issue still persists. This issue occurs in IE and Chrome.

    My bad, i mean SharePoint Site...
    Just go to the page where you want to click on "Open with Project" and do this:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
    It will add your SharePoint Site to the compatibility view list.

  • The installation Wizard requires that Microsoft Document Explorer is installed before you install Project SDK 2013

    Hi,
    I am trying to install Microsoft Project 2013 SDK on my computer and it wont install.
    The wizard comes to a point where it tells me to install Microsoft Document Explorer. I press the install button but nothing happens, it is not installed.
    I tried this many times but Microsoft Document Explorer is not installed.
    I also tried to installing from other links on the forum but still does not work. Is this a bug with the installer ?
    I am using : Windows 7 ultimate; MS Project 2013 Pro, VSTO 2013 PRO and Excel 2013.
    Any comments or suggestions really appreciated.

    Tjek you do not already have it installed. I had a similar problem where an old version was installed.
    This might be a question for a another forum (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home?forum=vssetup) as i do not think many people here have a good
    knowlegde of this component.

  • Dropdowns and many buttons disabled in PWA 2007 after Microsoft Project Professional 2010 has been installed

    Hi Team,
    I have Microsoft Project professional 2007 installed and also using PWA for 2007.
    I recently installed Microsoft Project Professional 2010, and since the time i installed 2010 all the button in PWA 2007 have been disabled.
    1. I could not select a project from "Project Center"
    2. I could not select resources from "Manage Resources"
    3. I could not select dropdowns in the project properties even if the project is selected.
    ALl the other team members are able to use both without any issues.
    I also uninstalled IE8 browser and re-installed, that didn't help.
    I could use PWA normally after 2010 is uninstalled.
    Please suggest a solution for this.

    Try running a repair on Project Professional 2007. You always have to do this after installing a newer version of project. Always run a repair on the previous version. What's happening is that PWA is not seeing 2007 on your machine because 2010 overwrote
    some of the shared objects.

  • Can I use Microsoft Project Professional to connect hyperlink a some documents in the server of our company?

    Just like the titre,
    Can I use Microsoft Project Professional to connect hyperlink to some documents in the server of our company?  I want to share some documents not in my computer, which is in the server of our company.

    Hello,
    Sure you can, right click on required task that relates to the document, at the bottom on that menu you will see "Hyperlink". Click Hyperlink and a new window will open, in the new window in the "address" field type or paste in the web address / file share
    address etc. Click OK then you will see a web link appear in the indicator column.

  • Unable to download Microsoft Project Professional 2013 trial

    I've been unable to download the trial version of the MS Project Professional iso file from the TechNet Evaluation Center.  I start the download process but it immediately flashes "error" and then reverts back to the previous download
    page.
    I've tried both Chrome and Explorer browers, and both 32-bit and 64-bit downloads.  I've also tried disabling antivirus and firewall. I've searched the web extensibly with no resolution.  I've tried to download on both home and work computers to
    various directories. I've also found numerous similar problems here on the TechNet forums, but absolutely no helpful response or resolution from Microsoft.
    Microsoft online support tells me to call phone support.  Phone support tells me they don't support trial versions.  Who in their right mind would pay $1200 without being able to first try the product, especially when the company won't
    even support their own software services?!
    Anyone have any insight on how to fix this download error?
    Thanks!

  • Microsoft Project Professional Trial 2013

    I tried to download MS Project Pro Trial 2013 this morning (64-bit) and my computer told me that I needed the 32-bit. So I went through the registration process again and downloaded the 32-bit.  Upon trying to run MS Project it gave me an error message
    after typing in my trial code stating.
    Error 25004: The product key you entered cannot be used on this machine. This is most likely due to previous MS Office 2013 trials being installed
    Any help would be great on how I can successfully trial MS Project.

    Hi,
    Have you installed Microsoft Project Professional Trial 2013 or Office 2013 pro before?
    Did you have installed any version of Office in this PC now?
    As far as I know, the error occurs when we try to install a Windows Installer (MSI)-based version of Office/Project 2013 on a computer on which the computer manufacturer has already installed a version
    of Microsoft Office/Project 2013.
    Please try the following steps and check they are helpful.
    Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared
    If there is a folder called OFFICE15 or OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform delete that folder.
    Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared
    Same as above, If there is a folder called OFFICE15 or OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform delete that folder.
    Reinstall
    Please note: Backup before you deteted
    Tips:
    Office 32 bit version could be installed with both of 32bit and 64 bit Windows OS.
    Make sure all versions of Office/Project are either 32-bit or 64-bit. You can’t have a mix of both.

  • This component requires that the embedded font be declared with embedAsCFF=false.

    I'm getting the following warning for my project.
    "warning: incompatible embedded font 'MyFont' specified for views::MyViewInnerClass0 (MyViewInnerClass0_61) . This component requires that the embedded font be declared with embedAsCFF=false."
    Here's what I have in my style.css file.
    /* CSS file */
    @namespace s "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark";
    @namespace supportClasses "spark.globalization.supportClasses.*";
    @namespace views "views.*";
    @font-face {
              src: url("assets/MyFont.ttf");
      fontFamily: "MyFont";
      advancedAntiAliasing: true;
      embedAsCFF: true;
    @font-face {
              src: url("assets/MyFont.ttf");
      fontFamily: "MyFont";
      advancedAntiAliasing: false;
      embedAsCFF: false;
    The 2nd font section I have is what is suggested as the fix in most places but that isn't working out for me. I wonder if I'm missing something else.

    I tried changing the name and it didn't work. Tried all sort of combinations too and none worked. Tried a different font and that didn't work too.
    Turns out the problem wasn't in the declaration of the fonts but where I was using it.
    I initially had the font declared globally
    global
       fontFamily: DroidSansMono;
    I saw that, in your comment you had mentioned "..then apply it to the component" so I applied the font to the label component
    s|Label
      fontFamily: DroidSansMono;
    and boom.. no warning. Problem solved.
    Thanks so much.

  • I am the administrator but still get "This operation requires elevation."

    New Dreamweaver user. I have confirmed that I am signed in as the administrator (the only account on my computer) but when I try using just about anything on the Dreamweaver "dashboard" I'm told that "This operation requires elevation."
    64 bit, Windows 7.
    Help...Cris

    Hi
    Windows often creates a separate 'standard' user account even if you have only ever created the admin account.
    Try right clicking on your dreamweaver link and selecting, 'run as administrator'. If this fixes the problem then go into your properties for dreamweaver and select, 'always run as administrator'

  • This component requires that the embedded font be declared with embedAsCFF=true.

    Hey all,
    I fall into a small problem with fonts embedding. In my application I have embedded over 50 fonts and all expect one works as expected.

    I have been looking all over the internet for similar problem, without success. Why this font is not working while all the rest does? Any clues?

    That message is listed in two scripts on the bank's site. One function that can display the message is named PhotoRotator and the other is named PromoRotator. However, I can't seem to trigger the error myself.

  • Microsoft Project Standard vs. Microsoft Project Professional

    Hey gang,
    I always thought that the difference between Standard and Professional could be summed up this way:
    One of them (Professional) permits you to connect to Microsoft® Project Server (particularly now in version 2013).
    However, in reading this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc750929.aspx
    It states:
    " ... Microsoft Project Standard can be used stand-alone, or in combination with Microsoft Project Server for more advanced team collaboration..."
    Is this true/ correct?  Can Project Standalone 2013 connect to Project Server???
    \Spiro Theopoulos PMP, MCITP. Montreal, QC (Canada)

    Hi Spiro, This article applied to 2002 version. I do not have enough experience with Project 2002 to confirm it, but at least since Project 2003, you do need MS Project Pro in order to create an account and connect to Project Server.
    Hope this helps,
